there of plenty of rocks that looked like the butterkyn eggs, but for a while none of them seemed to jump out at her. Then her eyes caught something. Near the edge of the flowers there was a rock and it looked like something was on it. She quickly ran back to were the rock was. It was quite close to the flowers, but not touching them either.

"Easssyyy..." she bent down and slowly reached forwards with both hands, clasping the rock on both sides, and backed away with the prize in hand. But was it an egg? She turned it around and see if she could spot the dragonfly.

The Canadian Kyn swept the island from side to side, slowly covering the one end he had chosen to search and moving on a little more every time. He made sure to keep a steady height; it wouldn't be very good if an errant gust of wind from his wings disturbed a piece of dirt and resulted in another of those things...

He looked up every now and then to check on his silver-toned mate, concerned that she might accidentally touch one of the eggs. Though Magnus let her be, for he knew that she knew what she was doing.

Rosemary wished she could help more, but she knew that she'll collapse if she does any more flying. Curse her small wings.

Rosemary turned her attention to the small Butterkyn egg she had found. She hadn't been paying attention earlier because of how tired she was, but Rose could now recall Aedan telling her she could keep the Butterkyn. Rosemary nosed the rock, and the small creature on top of it finally moved, and crawled over to the other side of the rock where Rose couldn't reach. Rosemary almost thought she heard chirps of protest.

It doesn't seem to want to fly away from the rock. Guess it doesn't mind all the Kyns and riders around.

((Just as a reminder, I will be gone from Monday-Thursday/Friday-ish (depending on the weather) and therefore won't be posting replies. But don't worry, I'll pick up soon after!))

Myrrh's unique search pattern, though not apparently paying off, helped her from repeating and recovering the same ground she had already looked over. Her low, slow flight likewise increased her chances of seeing the small flicker of movement in the flowers below. If she turned back to inspect it better, she would be rewarded with the sight of a brown and translucent dragonfly perched on a stone-like egg.

Poke was likewise rewarded for her searching nearby, the little insect fluttering its wings slightly at the movements of its perch, though it was strongly disinclined to actually get up and fly away.

Magnus' distracted flight pattern, checking on Myrrh, was most likely causing him to miss any small flickers of movement or strange patches of light that could be occuring below.

As Tetania's distance from the group increased, she was quickly moving towards the edge of the valley where no one had seemed intent on checking. Perhaps everyone else was too tentative to get near Minya at this point in time. But the rockier ground would easily hide ButterKyn eggs.

Tetania's search had not yet yeiled any results by the time she had to stop gliding and fly back up. She hovered for a moment, and curiously looked around to see if anyone else had better luck. From her distance it was hard to tell, but she thought that see could see a person holding something small. She hoped that whoever it was had found a Butterkyn egg; if so, that was encouraging.

Then Tetania looked around at the nearby area, and saw the edge of the valley was nearby. It occured to her that she could fly lower over the rocky ground, since she wouldn't have to worry about disturbing any flowers. Perhaps she hadn't sptted any eggs because she was too far up to see them. Even if that was not the reason, it wouldn't hurt to be able to search the ground more carefully. So she began to fly in the direction of the rocky ground at the edge of the field.

Suddenly Tetania stopped short as she remembered that Minya had rushing in this direction after the thing that had damaged the kyn egg. The thought of her snarling face and fearsome roar hade her hesitate and look around for the blue and yellow European. She didn't see her at the moment, but she hesistated a moment longer before resuming her flight toward the flower-less ground. She didn't have time to pause and daoubt; it was too important that the Butterkyn eggs were found. Still, when she started searching the rocky ground she made sure her low flight took her away from the area she'd last seen Minya.

Kori landed on the beach a short while after Tare, her landing much less...graceful...than his. Probably due to the struggling butterkyn clutched in one of her foretalons. The fox-like kyn lay down on a large bed of wind and sand-worn rocks by the shore for a breather, too winded from the long journey as well as the shock of her pesky little ward's behavior to continue flying for much longer. Should Tare look back to find her, she would motion with her free foretalon for him to go on ahead.

ahaa! euricka! she had been able to find one, and with no wings to help her no doubt!

"I FOND ONE MINYA!!!" She shouted out at the top of her voice in excitment, her voice echoing and disturbing the small dragonfly once again. It's small wings fluttering. She grined and looked closely at the small insect. She wasn't able to get such a great look before. How amazing it was for such a small creature to want to protect something so big? or mabye it was a familair, like peggy was to Taku?

She made her way back over to the group where rosmary was resting herself, and wondered how she would keep this one safe...aahh she knew! She lifted her hat up and placed the egg on her head. Her hat was quite secure and, she was less likey to drop the egg and do it any harm. Plus it kept her hands free

Tare nodded to Kori and swiftly slunk down the beach, scanning the plethora of shells, but also being sure to thoroughly check among the dunes, digging whenever he saw a suspicious glint. Often he would backtrack a bit, slinking up into the dunegrass that could very easily hide butterkyn eggs. He stayed away from the area that was ever covered by surf, since it wouldn't be logical to find one where the sea would have pulled it away.

Myrrh made what would have been a terrible mistake, had it happened a moment sooner: she blinked. But before her eyes closed, her brain registered the gleaming brown, lustrous against the rich, dark earth of the island. Bringing her acrobatic skill into play, the dragoness flipped a u-turn, retracing the line she had just flown as slowly as she could while maintaining her flight. Within a few yards her eyes again found the ButterKyn egg and its dragonfly guardian. Now there was a new problem: how to get it out of it's flowery hiding place? She wasn't small like Rosemary, able to fit tails or claws into small places: her tailfur had feathered too far out, and, though the egg was clearly visible through a gap in the kynflowers, it was perilous to risk just grabbing blindly. She needed a plan. Careful not to let her positioning slide, the silver European rose to where she could hover with less difficulty over the egg to think.

((Question: Does the island overwrite Kyns' magic with its own, or is it only the jetstream that does that?))

After a moment of rest--and another verbal chastisement of Harley--Kori was back in the air, combing in the opposite direction of Tare. It was going to take ages to recover the stray butterkyn eggs! And the struggling hatchling in her talons certainly didn't make her search any easier.

A sparkle of blue-green caught her eye. Was i--? No. Just another bit of opalescent shell winking at her from the broken pebbles. Well, maybe, if nothing else, she'd come across some pretty rocks for her hoard...

((DA: The island itself prevents Kyn magic from being used, yes. ^.^ ))

For Tetania, the rocky terrain was a great area to scour for eggs. The only problem being that every other piece of small rubble could take the appearance of one of the ButterKyn eggs. The mountainside was rich in glittering stones, and the breeze seemed to make everything move. If she was especially vigilant in her fly-by, she could see the movement of tiny, pearlescent wings.

Tare, Kori, and Paige, on the otherhand, faced a different sort of obstable with their searching on the beach - distraction. The place was littered with glittering and interesting objects that could be inspected, and the array of shells was especially intriguing. No doubt a testament to the richness of life surrounding the island.

Tare growled softly, dipping low to the sands and scrutinizing them. No, no... wait was that-- no... Shell, rock, sea glass... "Ugh... Gotta move away from all these, if there's one in here I'll never find it." He flew up a little and then in a slow circle before he moved down into the dunes, weaving among them. Here the grass was high and there were some hard to check areas, but the surf didn't carry the shells and rocks back this far. And frankly, out where all those shells were, any eggs would be carried out to sea!

as she watched the dragons all search for the elusive butterkyn eggs, she noticed the silver one was flying over a certain spot over the flowers. To get a better look, she jumped onto a nearby bolder and thought she could see a faint glint herself. It looked like the dragon could reach the egg nessled within the flowers.

who ever thought plants could be so dangerous?

There wasn't much she could do from this position, but perhaps she could help her come up with a plan?
poke remembered how, when she was in the water and magnus had went to pick her up; how the water was blown away by the wind his wings were generating. Perhaps something similar could be done here?

but then hold on. These flowers seem to react with the slightest touch. What if air did the same thing? she wouldn't think so because it wasn't alive..but you never know with this island...

"excuse me?" she shouted at the dragon in a poliete manner. "but..what if you used your wings to create a light breeze over the flowers? to move them a little so you could get the egg?"

oh please oh please oh pleaaseee don't let this be a suggestion where she ended up masceing a hole generation of kyn.

Tetania flew slowly and as close to the ground as she thought was safe, determined not to pass by any Butterkyn eggs. She had to stop several times and take a closer look at several rocks that looked particularly interesting, but each time they turned out to be regular pebbles. She was not deterred, however, since she know how important thsi search was.

At one point she had stopped to examine a small movement she had seen, which turned out to be a leaf fluttering in the breeze. She was about to move on when she noticed another movement. She turned to see what it was, and after a moment's searching spotted the tiny, shimmering wings.

She was so surprised for a moment that she could only stare. She had to land and look so closely at it that her nose was almost touching it before she was convinced she was seeing right. She had actually spotted a Butterkyn egg! The thing was so tiny she doubted she could pick it up without damaging the tiny dragonfly. Looking around for an idea on how to carry it, she spotted the leaf. That was big enough that she could grasp it.

Carefully she picked up the leaf, then slid one end of it under the tiny egg. She then doubled the leaf over, forming a tiny hammock. She could grasp the ends of that and carry it without worrying about damaging the egg. Satisfied, she carefully picked up the leaf hammock and its precious cargo, then flew back to the ruins to show Aedan.

Myrrh looked up as Poke voiced the idea she had been formulating. Judging from the breezes in the island, wind wasn't a danger to the developing eggs. The only problem was keeping the breeze gentle enough to be safe and move the flowers apart while being able to stay airborne but low enough to reach the egg. A kyn falling out of the sky would likely destroy more than one or two flowers. Myrrh didn't even bother reaching for her magics of wind, water and illusion (the last wouldn't have been much help, anyway): she could feel them being blocked by the island, like a stream by a boulder. She would need to release some of the magic buildup when she returned home.
The silver European entertained the thought for a moment of asking if she could lower Poke down to grab the egg, but shoved it away quickly: Ninja would be displeased if she found out that she had endangered someone. Myrrh would have to do this on her own.
Spilling some air from her wings, the kyn dropped vertically, curling her tail upwards to prevent it brushing the flowers. Rotating her wings just so, Myrrh dropped her chest and tried to concentrate the wind from her downsweeps around the egg. The dragonfly fluttered its own wings in protest. Filling her lungs, the silver European added her breath to the wind and snatched...
Coming away cleanly with the egg securely in her foreclaw.
Quick as she could, Myrrh gained altitude and circled for a moment before gliding back towards the path and Aedan. A few seconds longer and she may not have been able to hold that precarious pose. Releasing the stress from the "what-ifs," the kyn ventured a glance at the small egg-stone clutched in her talon, and it's iridescent brown guardian stuck securely to the shell. It was a pretty thing, she couldn't help but think as she landed gently on the path, one would never think it to be so dangerous.
