"What?!" Sunstrike's heart began to sink as all this information passed through. I thought... He'd thought it'd been just a mistake, just an issue of too much for one person to handle...Vahn...what did you do?

"Who or what was Antharas? What do you mean by protect? What happend?" This was important, he had to know everything....this wasn't just some walk across the park anymore. Bit's of Vahn's past were resurfacing, and Sun wasn't sure he was supposed to know all this. Everything about the man was so secretive, and Sun had never thought to try and break those walls down, never wanted to...because his own walls would then be in the line of fire.

But this was from a third party, like Dain's tale of the war, this was from someone who had been there, an observer of rather then the man himself. Some level of detachment that Sun could grab hold of and comprehend without letting too much of himself go. While Vahn might have been ashamed of what he'd done in the past, Sunstrike was downright petrifyed. It was better if NO one knew those details.

"You have to understand something, Dearc... our own race had a literal godfall, when the humans began to shun the old ways. They turned on their own guardians, namely us. Out of fear, and misunderstanding. Our mistake... our grave sin... all because they tasted of the forbidden fruit: knowledge."

Engel removed his talons from the mask. "We were not so fallible... we were corrupted as well; as Antharas was all too pleased to point out to us."

He canted his snout to the side, jabbing at the murals that decorated the walls, much like everywhere else.

"Have you ever bothered with... history?"

"Time tends to do that to tradition...especially when one knows peace and nothing else...so they turned on us and in retaliation we turn on them, wonderful..." His voice was bitterly sarchastic in reply. "Then some great "monster" forces everyone together...only to fade into history like the hero that saved us..."

The sharp orange eyes looked up at Engel when the query was voiced. He sighed softly.

"I was....not in any kind of position to do so. Had I been, maybe so, as it is I know little of any kind of history."

"I am sure... you have heard the old addage "Knowledge is power". It is so frighteningly true, considering the wealth of knowledge that exists within Gaia itself. In the right hands, it can help so many, do so much."

Engel stared forward, a passion within his voice unlike anythign heard before; yet was eerily familiar. "And in the wrong hands, it can equally hurt just as many. There are forces at work even now... that are tyring to do such a thing."

His tail came to a halt, as he pressed against the wall. "Chusi... was always trying to help us stay on the proper "path". Even after we broke free of Antharas, it wasn't easy. The war 50 years ago demonstrated that much to us."

Sunstrike shook his head.

"There must be a way to cement that goal of Chusi's. We cannot let his work become so undone over something like this. I have seen the forces against us, Engel, these wounds..."Sunstrike paused because his wounds were almost gone, making that a moot point, but he continued on anyway. "Are a testimony to that. And I don't think even the elder was prepared for the sand storm that's coming our way, hell, I dont' even know if I am...If I told you about what brought us here..."

His eyes unfocused. Blood and fire brought us here...and it will probably be how we leave as well.

"Both peoples look to the war in the past as if looking for an excuse to condem each other, that is why these creatures have been able to sneak by. We may as well have rolled out a red carpet for them."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2005 12:22 pm

"If there is a way... I cannot forsee it anymore. Chusi is dead... and you are the one who will lead our people now. As grandiose as it may sssound, the burden falls upon your shoulders, but you are not alone in it."

Engel closed his eyes, before moving again.

"The enemy has made it's move, therefore it is time we made ours. For the benefit of all who live within these sands."

Sunstrike had reservations, I mean hell, who wouldn't? Here he was, a continent away from home, hungry, tired, half changed, mental, and thrust into a leadership role he didn't want. This wasn't to say that he didn't care for the plight of the two peoples...quite the contrary, he was happy to help.

But the plain and simple fact was that he wasn't supposed to BE in any kind of leadership roles, he'd get into some serious trouble for this, if he hadn't already. A shiver went from nose to tailend at this, and he was suddenly looking at the shadows a little more suspiciously.

"Oh? And what move is that?" Gods he'd make a better leader then me, he KNOWS it all. There wasn't any spite in this, just admiration. It was hard to see capable wheels turning faster then his own could keep up, right in front of him.

"I beleive it is time we found out for ourselvessss what these humans have been execavating..."

Engel's pointing claw would be marked directly on a largely circled portion of the map that was part of the table.

Vahn Kyonuske
"It displeases me to hear you say such things, M'lady."

Raising his head finally, he simply extended his right arm out and snapped his fingers. The sound echoed out within the room, for a few moments, before something began to happen. The chair in which Sierra had been led to would begin to warp, shackling and binding her forcibly to it's surface.

"But an agreement with me... is a a magically binding contract." He smiled softly and stood up from his own seat, looking out at the shadowed figures occupying the room. "I will save this world by whatever means necessary... even at the forfeit of my own life. You will come to see that with time."

Slowly, the lighting began to change, flooding the room as if shades were being drawn; but in reality the ceiling itself was opening. The large mechanical sounds echoed throughout the chamber, until the sun's rays itself began to shine in.

Windows, previously covered and unseen were now also presenting themselves; the backdrop they showed cased would indeed raise questions.

For miles and miles upon end, nothing but desert could be seen.

They had been in Barthavos ever since Victor had opened the dimensional door.

"Welcome... to the tower of Babel."

*Sierra found herself snared and shackled before she could even register that the throne had been transforming, a starled and then slightly strangled gasp escaping her throat, as her eyes dart about the room wildly.*

:: Stupid stupid elf! To be distracted by him so easily!! ::

*Sierra shudders as she tries to test the strength of her confines, only to find herself weaker than she should be. Her restraints wrapped about her tightly and she had to fight against the wave of nausea as they slithered about her, feeling very much alive. *

:: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Foolish sister!! Now what will you do? Hmmm? Si--er--ra?? Hehehehehe....::

*The elf maiden scrunches her eyes shut as she tries to block the insane laughter of Ra'kar from her mind and finding the attempt useless, she opens angry eyes to Victor and replies in a venemous tone.*

"You have my body, but you do not have my cooperation!"

"All I need is your body." Came the hollow responce. He turned away from her now, walking down the steps and off the rasied dais. Her seat would continue to warp and change, revealing itself to be more of a wrack, than a seat.

Yellowed eyes would be hidden as he never gave another look in her direction. "I still need some time to gather the necessary 'keys'... so please, try to make your stay as comofrtable for yourself as possible. That is, until I can use the spell I acquired from Ashe to make you... more suitable."

*The elf's eyes widened and then narrowed, as her gaze followed the man as he moved away from her, striding down the steps of the dais.

A deep and primal growl sounded low in her throat as her entire body tensed. She strains against the rack-like confines, her whole body's strength pouring into her core and limbs, trying to aide in freeing itself. She manages a strenuous step forward, pulling against what used to be the woman's seat, stretching the vine like shackles.

Her wings, which had been furled tightly against her body, now began to open, trying to achieve their full span by struggling against the restraints. Her tail too, began to lash violently, slicing through the thinner and weaker bonds.

Her body and mind screemed for one thing and one thing only at that moment. FREEDOM! 'Free yourself elf!' her mind screeched at her as she fought back panic. 'Get free!' *

"Just you and me?" It was a daft question, really, but there was a kind of hesitation there, a little bit of hope that maybe he could get out of here and then...

And then what? Haul his tail back to Strata, tell Vahn to ******** it all and just...go home? Gods knew what kind of a wreck the stadium was in. Oh no...my room?! s**t...all that work...

And what exactly was he going to do as an 8ft lizard amongst the norms of the Leviathan? He'd had the vauge thought that maybe Enki might be able to straighted him out, but now...he wasn't so sure. Things felt pretty ingrained for the moment, and they were fast becoming concrete within his mind and soul...you could never say that Sunstrike couldn't adapt to any situation.

"Or do I stay here? I'm not paticularly keen on sending anyone to get themselves destroyed or altered though..."

"Your attempts are only going to cause you unnecessary pain. We wouldn't want to injure the young ones inside you... now would we?" He paused, not even so much as turning his head to stare back at her.

His eyes were closed, head lowered slightly. How much she reminds me of her... I can see why you might have grown attached to someone after so many years of self-imposed isolation, dear brother.

Meanwhile...

Engel's tail thwacked against the floor in annoyance. "So what are you suggesting...? The attack is still fresh on the humans mind's, they certainly would not welcome us with open arms."

He paused, before tracing a hand over his face. "However.. if you say the Fire Bringer is there... then..."

Sunstrike bit his lip...which turned out to be quite painful, so he stopped, before looking full on at Engel.

"Let me go talk to Vahn...maybe I can get a word in edgewise before I get shot, s'the best chance we got...'fore the armies come over the hill. You guys investigate whats been brought up out of the sand. Then we'll meet again and figure out what to do about this.

I think the humans themselves will be just as surprised at this excavation as the rest of us."

He squinted down at the map. "Aye...they don't know about this....it'll be a wake up call. But I need your approval, Engel. It'd be a bit weird if the leader just got up and walked outta Hollow without any kind of explination. People'll think I got sand in my head or something."

"There is more than one way out of Hollow, you know." Engel moved away from the table, and over to the murals on the walls. "This place is a honeycomb of inter-connecting tunnels and secret routes. It is... very easy for one to get lost.. you understand?"

His eyes dimmed, as he looked to his supposed brother.
