((far as I know, there isn't any particular plot going on...this is a sort've mumble-jumble of cubs, juveniles and maybe even a few adolescents/adults wandering about, so there's not much to catch up on. xD.))
Sniffing at the air suddenly, Binti stopped her interrogation of the elder lioness, sitting up straight and raising her nose high in the air. "I smell another lion...a juvenile male, if I'm not mistaken..." she murmured, noticing with a slight grimace that the scent wasn't a familiar one, and thus, it could mean only one thing--more lions were making their way into the previously unoccupied southlands.
Interesting... Us'kali thought, puzzled by the youngster's reaction. I'm surprised she doesn't go to meet up with him... she wondered, tired enough that she remained where she was, still save for the occasional twitch to dislodge a fly.

Wrinkling her nose, Binti shook her now-damp coat out, somewhat refreshed in spite of herself. "In a bit of a hurry there, aren't ya?" she called out, struggling not to laugh at Hidalgo's antics in the water.

Asi halted, ears flicking as he heard the yelling, and he rolled his eyes again. "Blood and sand." He hissed, stalking that way. He didn't like loud noises.. but of coarse he'd come and check it out. And try and get more lions on the 'list that wants him dead', eh? What a wise little thing.
He could pick out a few scents, which might make for good company. or good targets, depending. Maybe it won't be so bad today.

Hidalgo rolled through the water with the most satisfaction he'd had in days, obviously attracting hardly none if not any attention from the two lioness' nearby. They had just been here. He could smell it. Though-- he didn't exactly care at the moment. Gulp fulls of water were taken, his painted coat now saturated. However the moment he got out it would begin evaporating, thus making him only hotter than he already was.
Eventually stopping and hauling himself up to land, content once more that his throat and thirst had been quenched. Now able to pay attention to the area around him, his eyes now set eagerly upon the two lions close by. "Howdy! Erm.. Uh.. I--- was just.. erm.. yea.." He stammered, having no idea of how rediculous he must have looked rolling around in the water screaming his head off.

Snorting, Binti shook her head at Hidalgo. "If I'd been the aggressive type, you wouldn't have stood a chance." she pointed out idly. Sniffing the air, she realized that there was another young male nearby. Again, it wasn't Essien...she was beginning to wonder if that particular lion had died of starvation or something, he'd been gone so long.
At Binti's comment, Us'kali's eyes flew open in surprise. Not the most pleasant of lionesses... she thought. And here I was thinking that it might just be me...

The three were in view, Hildago just coming from the water, sopping wet. Asi wrinkled his nose. "So much for a drink.." He grumbled. Pleasent, no? His tail flicked, steps slowly as he headed closer. He was rather thirsty, though.

"Pft.. stood a chance to what.. You? Gimme a break. I'm twice your size." Hidalgo called with amusment heavily tinting his tone. What was she so worked up about, anyway?
With a deep sigh of relief, the adolecent hoisted himself up to all fours, not even bothering to shake out his painted coat as he strode casually over to the two females. True, there was another about.. but it was a male.. he'd learned that females were the ones to be around. He could tolerate those of his same gender.. however none of them seemed to manage tolerating him, for some reason or another.

Lifting her upper lip in a slight sneer, Binti narrowed her eyes at Hidalgo. "Size isn't everything, you know." she said, her voice deceptively level. As she spoke, her ears flicked back and forth, having detected the muted sounds of the other's footsteps.
((and, much as I have fun RPing out Binti's extreme...brattiness, I DO have to go now ^^; however, thank you both for arpeeeeee~ *will be back later, iff'n things don't move ahead by omfgleapsnbounds* biggrin heart ))

"Why you little.." Hidalgo growled, ink black eyes narrowing considerably. A quiet grumble was given as he took his place next to the older female, who he assumed didn't have quite the temper of the younger one. What a stupid little.. "I wouldn't be talking.. considering you're a little pipsqueak of a cub.." He stated bluntly, wrinkling his nose. To those who were nice to him, he usually acted the same in return. However on the occasion of running into the more sour tempered, he treated them as they did he-- it was a simple concept. Or.. at least to him.
Hidalgo's tail began to flick idoly, quietly sweeping at the ground behind him.
(( Hehe.. alrighty then, Vash! =D Ttyl! <3 Not sure if I'll be on when it's 8 PM PST.. seeing as I'm in EST. XD; And you're three hours behind me. @_@; But nevertheless.. we shall continue. 83 ))

Binti couldn't help herself any longer. She laughed outright. "If you can't tell the difference between me and a cub...maybe you should get your eyes checked..." she trailed off, flicking her own tail idly, a sign anyone who knew her well would have known meant she was getting irritated.
Us'kali sat up, having heard enough. "Both of you are behaving like cubs." she said simply, her violet gaze daring either of them to argue. "Binti, he did nothing to provoke your verbal attack...and..." she trailed off, realizing hse hadn't yet caught the young male's name. "You're old enough to know better." she finished, finally remembering how wearing it could be to deal with the young for extended periods of time.
Binti snorted, a barely restrained snarl lacing her face as 'kali told her off. However, some vestige of common sense prevailed (or perhaps just self-preservation), preventing her from outright batting at the elder lioness.

(( I agree XP. Sorry about the slow response sweatdrop ))
Kikora's eyes were bright with excitement as she raced a young meerkat to the burrows. It had a good head start on her, but she was gaining on it. However, she could tell that she wasn't going to be fast enough. Her muscles tensed and she pounced. Her open jaws snapped shut at empty air, with the meerkat passing close enough for her to feel the small slipstream it created. Furious with herself, Kikora checked her speed and raced back towards the group of fleeing meerkats.

Deciding that, in this case, distancing herself from Hidalgo and 'kali was the better part of valor, Binti began cleaning her coat, utterly ignoring both of them as she worked at a stubborn clump of dirt that was stuck to the back of her heel.
Shaking her head, Us'kali had to fight to contain her amusement--with a few social skills, Binti would be a formiddable lioness someday...assuming she didn't get herself killed by making an older lion angry.

Seeing as they'd quieted down somewhat he kept on, finally getting to the water, a bit away from the other lions. He leaned down and lapped at the cool substance, tail curling around his leg for a moment. Having his fill he raised his head again, ear flicking as he sat, staring at the water.

Lifting her head, Binti stared at the newly arrived lion. Still more lions arriving round here?! she thought, shaking her head slightly at the thought. Padding over to the water's edge, she struggled to maintain her curiosity--one thing Essi had always hated was that she couldn't just strike up a conversation without going out've her way to put the other creature on the defensive...and she didn't like to give the impression that she was looking for a big strong lion to take care of her...

He peered sideways at the girl a moment, brows furrowing. His tail flicked and head tilted, gaze following the patterns on her fur. He grinned slightly, to himself. "Eh.. some'un decide thurr was nothin' better ter paint on then yer? Eh?" well she might as well have put his defense up, instead of he insulting her. If that was an insult. He did like her fur patterns... but why admit it?
