((oh it's okay! I'm having fun in this, truly! heart ))
Her tiny fingers stroked along those beautiful feathers she so admired, so glad he hadn't pulled away from her or snapped at her for doing something so forward. Poor Aversham... pressing a kiss to his forehead, she couldn't help giggling at his remark about his feet and she looked down at his talon. "Heheh so true! But they're cute talons nevertheless!" It made her happy he did try to jest with her, even though it seemed he would rather do otherwise.
Shifting back alittle bit so she could look at him but not let him go fully yet, she stroked him a bit more. "Maybe later... right now, ye are more important to me... I won't leave ye alone, whether ye want me gone or nay... so yer stuck with me." She grinned cutely before she fixed his tail feathers because they seemed as agitated as the rest of him. "So please don't mind me interferances... I'm slowly learning everything I can..."

Now that even made Onion stop! Both familiar and Elysian blinked in surprise at the small and yet very forward action she had made towards the firebird - and her summoner was worried about him pushing his luck? He had to confess that he was mildly confused by this and cleared his throat gently as he attempt to regather even his most depressing of thoughts.
"Well..." He cleared his throat again and seemed to be rather lost for words, admittedly he had no qualms with her company but usually he wasn't caught off guard in that manner, it was only after a while that he released a small chirp of approval and released a sigh, his eyes twinkling with some form of amusement.
"I have never minded your intrusions and you are not the only one learning new things - or old." He pulled one of his wings round just a little so that it was within her reach before flicking his gaze towards Koniryu, his expression surprisingly serious despite the delicate and optimistic nature of the Elysian who had eleviated some of his melodramatic mood.
"I think you should return to the tavern." He advised at last although he would never delve into why he had said such a thing...not yet at least.

Reika tended to do whatever she felt was good to do at the moment. She truly didn't know what was too forward til she was told otherwise, so she didn't understand the clearing of his throat and settled back a bit in bafflement. Looking over at Koni, who had a frown on his face, she placed her thumb against her lip. Had she.. done something wrong?
Seemed Aversham was amused by whatever she had done so maybe it wasn't bad? She didn't notice the look that was shared between her summoner and Ave, all she did was focus on the wing before her, making sure everything looked right. Preening him was rather fun, she had decided so she liked to do this for him. "I am thankful for that. If I overstep, please let me know... so I know not to be so.. forward next time." The look Koni was giving Ave was not a pleasant one, nevermind that it had been Reika who had done something as forward as that. He would be speaking to her later about it anyway.
At his words to return to the tavern, she blinked a bit before she nodded. There sounded like there was a deeper meaning behind those words and that tense air that had been there was no longer around. Aversham would be all right if she did leave, which relaxed her nerves. "Aye... if ye thin tis best, then I shall return... will ye be all right?"

"I will be fine." The firebird assured her in a soft manner before folding his wing once more and giving a nod, "I simply have a few things to attend to and then I will take the opportunity to visit the tavern." He gave a delicate avian smile and motioned towards the exist of the great city of Durem once more before releasing a sigh.
"I promise that if you are there, I will shower you with my attentions." He added mildly, although once again he was rather aware of Koni's gaze and pictured himself as a roast chicken again...

[[continued from Turtle's Paradise Main Thread Pg 2119]]
It was dark and late as Shyam made his way through the dark streets back to his humble apartment. He'd had fun with Trelweny in the Tavern and he was really looking forward to having a picnic with her the next day.

Ah, Durem! The gentleman furrowed his brow lightly as he navigated his way through the back alleyways and away from the 'suburbian' area of the large city where he had otherwise been engaged in more desirable activities than this. If he was to be entirely honest he would have preferred to remain at her abode but etiquette and she both made it perfectly clear that such a thing was wholey inappropriate - a bit of a shame really.
Alas, he released a sigh through partially parted lips and toyed with his cane. For a time it seemed that only his footsteps could be heard upon the battered cobblestones around the more delapidated sector of Durem until at last his ears caught the footsteps of another. With this revelation, he fell utterly silent and allowed his hands to drift to his pocket where his hankerchief lay (among other things).
A few moments later though he seemed to have regained his composure and with a nod (and a quick adjustment of his top hat) he proceeded onwards once more in the direction of the sound, his oen footsteps becoming scarcely audible upon the cobblestones - he was most curious as to who the footsteps belonged to at such a time as this, it was only when his eyes fell upon the gentleman in the distance that he raised a brow.
...Now why hadn't he seen this one before?

Shyam felt light-hearted to be making a friend here, and a beautiful one at that, and his steps were lighter as he neared his apartment. Suddenly, without warning, his instincts took over and he could feel that every nerve was on edge. The young man couldn't explain it, but he knew not to doubt his years of training or his personal instincts.
Instead of heading directly home, he began taking a more circuitous route, trying to assess what had set him off. He couldn't see or hear anything, but he just knew something was there.
He cursed inside his head. If he'd been back home, he'd know the street to go down to set up an ambush, to figure out what was going on... but he was so new here...
Shyam took a chance anyway, and stepped down a dark alley, looking for a side passage to hide in, or a way to double back unnoticed. Once out of view, the rogue's movements became lithe, animal-like as he disappeared and blended in with his favorite element... the shadows.

The manner in which he darted away confirmed the suspicions of the gentleman instantly. He simply shook his head and gave a tap of his cane against the cobblestones before continuing to walk on - he twirled the cane every now and then within the air before clasping it in his palm once more to hold it steady...If he were entirely honest, he should have pointed out that the boy would get caught if he insisted on acting in such a manner, what if he had been a patrol officer?
Releasing a delicate chuckle at his own thoughts, the gentleman broke into a low whistle and proceeded passed the area that the man had hidden in. If he was so well informed in his work then the gentleman was well aware that said rogue would follow him out of sheer curiosity, but taking no chances, he continued to walk in the same manner as before and ensured that his steps were silent.
This done, he continued on his way through the alleyways and towards what appeared to be a rather desolate and deserted noble house in the distance.

From deep with in the shadows, Shyam watched the gentleman walk by. The way the man carried himself, the way he walked, and the ease with which he handled the cane told him much about this man. He was a pro.
Shyam suddenly felt very outclassed and clumsy as he compared himself to this man. He knew that this man could be very dangerous, but he could also offer the young man opportunity.
Almost against his better wishes, Shyam exerted every effort that he could to follow the man through the streets, remaining as unseen as possible, though, he was certain that his efforts did not go unnoticed, if he had properly guessed the "gentleman's" true nature. Nonetheless, he tried his hardest.
As they approached the house, Shyam took up his post to watch and see what would happen next. Unsure of what, exactly, he was hoping would happen.

"Are you comingin or not?" The gentleman paused at the top of the steps of the desolate mansion and turned his gaze towards the shadows where Shyam lay. Granted, he had allowed the man the chance to amuse himself but now he would have to be slightly more forward - if the man was insistant on following him then he would have to come closer...lest he get attacked by the traps inside.
Nevertheless, he gave a lose smile and after a few moments he nudged the door open with his cane and stepped inside, his lithe form disappearing into the shadows that seemed to be significantly more dense within the house...almost as if no light existed inside, the house almost seemed lifeless and yet this gentleman seemed to speak as though there was something inside.

"Damn it," Shyam swore under his breath. He'd tried his hardest, but that hadn't been good enough. From what he knew of the guilds, this man's invitation might be his only chance. The darkness inside the house, somehow scared him. For the first time the shadows made him afraid, with an unexplainable fear.
The young man stepped away from the side of the building, quickly making his way to the door, just seconds after the other has gone through it. With a deep breath, his eyes quickly adjusting to the murk within, he carefully followed his benefactor.
He found his nerves more taut than ever as he followed the gentleman inside, ready for anything.

The door quickly slammed shut and as it did so the dim lamps upon the wall flickered to life and allowed a small amount of light to creep across the dark hallway. The gentleman did not wait around however and instead he navigate through the eerie and otherwise desolate regions and into what appeared to be the ball room where a stairwell seemed to descent down into the depths, it's true direction hidden by the heavy velvet curtains below it.
"I would offer you my greetings." The gentleman spoke as he descended the stairwell, "But that is not why I am here -" He brushed the curtain aside and step through, only to be met by more stairs which he began to descend without any trace of annoyance.
"I would suggest you hurry up, the traps spark to life ten minutes after entering the mansion." He added as an after thought as he came to a halt at the bottom of the stairs and gazed upwards in expectance of the young man who seemed to have some potential when it came to the arts that were inevitably appreciated within this building.
"I need you alive, not dead." He muttered vaguely and shook his head.

((Sorry I disappeared for a bit))
With the gentleman's warning, Shyam did not need to be told twice. This house was precisely what he had suspected, so he wasted little time following the man through the dim rooms to the stairs, carefully watching his footing. He kept an eye on his surroundings at all times, drinking in the house around him. It appeared to be extremely dilapidated, while subtley being well-maintained. "What a wonderful ruse," he thought to himself. "I wonder how many have walked past it, not giving it a second thought. I still have so much to learn!"
"I would prefer to stay alive as well," he responded to the quiet mutter, reminding the man that his hearing was as acute as ever, as he took the first step down. "What should I call you," he asked quietly, following his guide down deeper into the bowels of the mansion.

"Bob." The gentleman's face remained completely stoic and thus it was impossible to discern whether or not he was jesting or telling the truth. Alas, he gave a delicate snort following his reply and made his way down the well decorated and jewelled corridor - in comparison to the state of the house upstairs, this was superbly designed and maintained.
From here on in, he was silent as he tapped once on the store made of marble and gave a nod. There was a moments delay and then the marble door slid open to reveal not only a massive hall filled with innumerable merchant tables, but also hundreds of people all of a 'shifty' nature so to speak.
The gentleman wasn't phased at all and promptly stepped inside, shrugging off his top hat as he slipped in and proceeded towards one of the tables - above these stalls was a rather large plague that simply said:-
"We of the shadows, unite as one."

"Bob's good enough, so that I don't have to call you 'Hey You.'" Stepping off the last step, Shyam tried hard not to gape at the drastic change in decor here below compared to that above. If the designers goal had been to impress, he'd done a good job.
Shyam took careful note of the Marbel stone and the Rhythm tapped on it, logging it away for later, if he needed it. When the door slid open, Shyam followed close behind Bob, making sure not to get lost. Finally, the young man began to feel at ease. Here were people who understood and appreciated the necessity for secrets and keeping them. They understood what it felt like to be outcasts, while giving the appearance of fitting in.
As they walked into the room, Shyam took careful note of everything around him, going through the mentail exercise of quickly scanning and cataloguing everything at the stalls for later use. He also found himself mentally preparing any necessary escape plans, should they ever be needed.
Then his eyes caught the sign. Somehow that credo spoke deeply to him, touching a very private part of his heart that very few knew about. "I really like that," Shyam said, indicating the large plaque.
