I alkways tap my foot to keep tempo, usually because i don't look up at our BD very often. I don't do it at concerts, though. I sit at the end of a row, visible to the audiance, so i keep time inside my head. By the time we have a concert, we've usually played it enough times I have it half-memorized anyways.

Most of the time I tap my foot. But if its a song I know by heart then I dont. I usually on tap my foot when I play bass, snare or cymbals. When I play marimba or xylo then I dont. Its weird

I've never been told that tapping my feet to the music was for babies. If anything, I've always thought that it showed you were interested in what you were doing. I know that I tap my foot not only to keep the beat (since a lot of the music we play shifts from four-four to cut time, among other changes, quite often), but also to keep into the music itself.

I almost always tap my foot. Especially when I play off the beat. Otherwise, it's impossible to keep track of.

When i first started playing clarinet, i would always tap my foot. But now i don't tap my foot as often and instead tap my toes. It's a more discrete way of keeping in time, especially if there are time changes. Our conducter doesn't say anything when we do tap our feet. It doesn't bother him but we know that we shouldn't tap when we're performing, especially the front row.....and i'm in the front row! xd

We've always been taught to do what helps us, and for many of us it's tapping our foot when we need. If it helps you, then why not do it?

NO WAY! There's something seriously wrong with him! Tapping your foot is actually good! And EVERYONE in my band class does it...it's kinda funny when you see all 13 of us (it's only one of the 6 classes that play together for the concert) tapping our foot at the same time. xD

Naumann always tells us to, but I never do. I can't play and tap at the same time. so I just tap during rests.

You shouldn't need any body movement to control your tempo. Our BD says that your brain isn't in your foot, so why tap? but it does seem to help... if you're NOT stomping and making loud noises at festival! sweatdrop I do tap my heel, not my toe... too much coordination required for toe tapping(well, for me at least)
