Ive also noticed that despite their ability to communicate with one another using their Lekku, I have only once encountered proof to support this.

I assume what they mean by "communnicate to one another" that its sort of a subconsious message. Sort of like our facial expressions tell others our feeligns, even if its non-verbal.
Sort of liek that..

Yeah, Twi'lek use slight movements of their Lekku to communicate to another. Lekku is always flying around the entertainers on SWG, most are Twi'Lek

Wait, are we talking about Nautolans, or Twi'leks, now? Nautolans' lekku are very sensitive; that's what they're for. I think they're supposed to replace the ears and nose underwater, since those seal up.
edit: Not ears, but they are very sensitive olfactory receptors that can detect a subject's changes in mood, etc., through body odor.
Twi'leks have a full lekku sign language that can operate with or without spoken speech. It's not just the equivelent of facial expressions - they can create sentences and carry on entire conversations using lekku.

Cale Darksun Nautoleans call their head tails Lekku too? no man, we're talking Twi'leks. No, but this came out of a conversation about Kit Fisto, so I just thought you'd stolen the term. I think they're just called tentacles.

I think the Nautoleans have their own word for them, but it doesnt make sense to me to use one race's term for an apendage to describe another race's vaguely similar apendage.

I like Obi-wan a little bit more than Anakin, but they're both really cool.
