I am so annoyed right now...While I didn't have this exact thing happen I had the different parts happen in different areas.
I tried looking in a few topics on abortion, all I saw was, what, the woman never consented to getting pregnant, of coarse she should have the right to abort, enter argument 1: But she HAD SEX, that's a pretty big show of consent, Response: When I go driving i'm not consnenting to being hit by a car, and why do they call themselves pro-life, their for the war....Argument 2: WTF, where did you get that from, i'm not for the war. Response: Yeah, well it wasn't directed at you personally.

yes indeed... i hate that car crap- i mean, yeah, if you drive and get hit by a car, you did consent to driving. but by treating your injuries, you're not willingly slaughtering your young. that analogy fails all over the place and misses the point completely. it's not just one point we stand for, it's all of them together- there is a child's life at risk, it was her consentual choice she made in the first place, it is not neccessary for survival, and the list goes on- they aren't seperate, but they all point to one conclusion and cannot be picked apart seperately because they're not about those little points. it's a gestalt, if you will.

Response: Yeah, well it wasn't directed at you personally. I think very few people who support the war do so because they like war. I do support the war because I don't think anything else would realistically work. Do I like war? No. Do I wish there was another way? Yes. But peace only works if everyone cooperates....and I just don't trust the opposition enough to say that we should be the first to lay down our arms. But that's an entirely different topic.

unless someone stops, the violence can only perpetuate. and what are we fighting for, exactly? defending our country my a**, sadam hasn;t done s**t to us, ever. it's always been US who have invaded his country. yes, he was being an a*****e. yes he had a regiem of death. but the only fighting iraq has ever done with us was in defense. IRAQIS are defending their country. and we bomb it, their cities, when we don't even need to BE there. it's none of our business to tell iraq who they can and cannot go to war with. iraq didn't do ANYTHING to us. AFGHANISTAN didn't even do anything, one guy from afghanistan and a bunch of fundamentalists who realized we ******** them over a few years back did. and we carpetbomb afghanistan. then, doublethink, since "iraq" sounds like one of 'dem mideast'rn' names, they must be bad too!
the whole thing is full of holes and doesn't seem like a good reason to waste good blood.

...You aren't using the word "doublethink" correctly. It means believing something at the same time as knowing that that something isn't true.
And Hitler never did anything to us either.

The reasons I support the war are a) I still believe that they either had WMDs or would've been able to produce them quickly if we hadn't gone in when we did, b) Saddam may have not been doing anything to us, but he was doing things to his own damn people! Mass graves! Just because they weren't Americans doesn't mean their lives were valueless! c) Iraqis may be "defending" their country, but did you ever stop to think why? Maybe it was because, if they didn't join the military, Saddam added them to those mass graves, hmm? And now that we have gone in there, many Iraqis are glad, and hail us as liberators. The only reason you don't hear about it on the news is that "Oh, these Iraqis blew themselves up!" sells a lot more then, "Oh, the Iraqis love us!" does. Yes, there are those who don't love us, and there are those who "defend" themselves from us, but you know what? If they put down their guns and acted like decent people, we'd go away. American soldiers don't shoot until shot at. And the bombers won't bomb where there's no one fighting.
How did we "******** over" these fundamentalists? The Afghanis and Osama himself received training and weapons from us to defend themselves against the Soviets, so I don't see how we were "******** them over."

we used them because we didn't like the "commies". and sadam had no weapons of mass destrtuction. even if he could make them, what about the thousands we hold? yes, he was killing his own men. we have too. we marched troops into ground zero of nuclear tests. we wanted to see what the radiation would do. and we also aimed for the direct center of hiroshima and nagisaki in order to cause the most civilian casualties. why? for testing, to see what our new boomstick could do. and to provoke fear- who would attack someone who not only COULD turn their entire city into ash, but WOULD?
Sadam may not be right or good, but our s**t isn't lime scented either.

But really, if we're going to continue arguing about whether the war is right or not, someone should create a thread in the PLG's Extended Discussion subforum.

I'm going to rant about the stupid "Don't put your child up for adoption thing" because it's ******** bullshit and it pisses me off more and more every time I read it. I know that there's problems with the adoption system, I'll be the first person to admit that, but that doesn't excuse killing your child instead of putting them in the ********, an extremely good friend of mine is adopted, where would he be without the "corrupt system"? He'd be ******** dead, in the trash along with shitload of other bodies of children that weren't 'wanted'.
If you believe in reincarnation then yeah, maybe he would have been reincarnated, but he wouldn't have been the same person. He would have had different parents and been raised differently.
Oh but he's at my door now, so I have to go. I'll finish this later
