Guadalupe thought that running into the trees had been the best sort of idea. Zigzagging back and forth worked in the first few seconds, weaving through trees seemed like the best bet. Boy, was he wrong. As soon as he hit the densely forested area, he turned around to look to where the new creatures were at....and his head smacked right into a tree branch, intensifying his already bad headache. He shook his head for a moment, dazed----Which gave plenty of time for one of the giant creatures to scoop him up and carry him back to their "home base". Square one. <********>, did he regret going on this mission. He should have told Mao that they could go on another one. And now that freak was--was---safe and away from here. He had to be...right? Dieties, that kid better not be dead. He stared at the crowd around them. "No one's seen a tall kid who blabbering about aliens and crop cycles...have you?" he winced, rubbing at his head. Damn, where was that doc when he needed them?

Character: Lycos Response:
Dart. Run. Jump. Run. Faster.
Lycos found themself nearly enjoying the escape, always looking to the side to make sure Latros was keeping pace. Of course they were, they were matched evenly after all. And Lycos would have less fun if Latros wasn't there.
Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, and as with their twin, Lycos slammed into a centaur themselves. As with Latros, Lycos grinned cheekily as they were simply...carted off.
"Hey, hey, I unno if you guys are vegetarians, but i kinda like some meat with my grass." Considering they pretty much ate some just then, they'd had enough greens for at LEAST a month.

Character: Clare Response: Dr. Horn gave Clare a pained smile, trying to avoid eye contact. "Perhaps you ought not to know... what's going on...." he trailed off. Clare looked over his shoulder with a frown - the other members of the first expedition team seemed in an even worse state than Dr. Horn. Was one of them missing an arm!? "Why are they keeping you here?" She asked in horror, but neither Dr. Horn nor his team responded. Disheartened, Clare turned around once more, eyes drifting between the centaurs on guard. There was a particularly well-dressed one nearby, covered in feathers and accessories. She was about to call him over when she heard some chaos approaching.
Clare's eyes widened as Latros and Lycos was dragged over and then, following them, Guadalupe. She quickly stepped back as they were thrown into the cage with them, along with a handful of other members of their team. The twins were still talking away, no doubt sassing their captors as best they could. That seemed foolish to her but at this point, what difference would it make. Listening to Guadalupe's plea, Clare sighed forlornly. "I haven't seen Maoli, Guadalupe - I am sure he's found somewhere safe," she assured him with a faint smile. Their situation was definitely looking dire, but it gave her hope that not all of her team seemed to have been caught. Yet.
Clare is always available if you have information or questions !

Character: EirResponse: Tabi had been right behind her, and somehow in her desperation to keep herself safe, and her friend, Eir found herself being dragged away. She'd been captured, but she didn't go easily. She was kicking and screaming, and generally being an angry ball of fluff and claws, being a general pain in the a** until she was thrown into what she could only assume was their excuse for prison. She tried to rush the bars before the door was closed, but only slammed herself into the locked door.

Character: Ligeia RP Response: While crossing the fallen log across the ravine, a near slip had her reaching out to grasp a branch to help steady her crossing. What she hadn't expected was the deep green leaflet that scuttled up her wrist. Okay, that was fine. Udara had been taken from her, so she could use a little friend. Not that the little bug had much choice in the matter, as she didn't even slow down while slipping her passenger into her shirt's chest pocket. No time to slow; the hunters were coming. Ligeia could hear the thundering of their hooves, or was that her pulse hammering in her ears? The hallowed hybrid had been lucky so far, but it seemed her luck turned. When going to leap down from the makeshift log bridge, the toe of her boot caught on a stubby, gnarled branch which sent her staggering forward, the ground seeming to rise to meet her.
Ligeia landed hard on her hands and knees, the wind knocked out of her at impact. The centaur had made it across, it hadn't just been her pounding heart that she had been hearing. Her strength seemed to leave her then. Her lungs burned from her wild flight through the glade, through the brambles. The woman's whole body ached from her overexertion. Ligeia coughed violently, a vain attempt to try to bring air in, her breaths coming in shuddering gasps.
She had failed. Try as she might, they caught up with her. Her one goal since those cage doors opened was out of reach. The reality beat her down. Had she even told her twin sister she loved her when she left Below? Ianira would be left alone, likely without any clue of what all had happened to her. The hybrid's vision swam, not from a blow from the approaching centaur hunter, but from tears that welled up and spilled down her cheeks. 'I'm so sorry, Ianira. So very sorry. I tried, I tried...' Ligeia stifled her choked sobs behind her hands. Her aching muscles flinched at being grabbed and hoisted off the ground, but her despairing heart occupied her attention now. What were the chances of her seeing her twin again? Their shop? Her familiars?
By the time the hunter that bore her made it back to camp, she was no longer actively crying, save for the odd sniffle or shuddering sigh. With the worst of her tears behind her, her thoughts seemed to come to her more slowly without all the adrenaline rushing about her veins. Her captor had been practically back to the glade by the time the thought 'I could bite. I can scratch. I've got some mean teeth. They'd possibly drop me. That'd give me a chance to run. Or try to.' Though with the burning of her muscles and the sharp stinging from where the thorns had gotten her, Ligeia figured that, even if she did somehow get loose, she wouldn't get very far. This was their home turf. These people had lived here for...how long?
Her pondering was cut short by being unceremoniously tossed into the group cage, which her legs hadn't been ready for. Down she went as the gate closed behind her with a clack. Now being at a full stop, the green leaflet emerged from her pocket to crawl up along her shirt collar. Oh, good. Her new little friend had made it. "Sorry," Ligeia soothed softly. "Couldn't help much if it was a rough ride.Glad to see you've made it okay." Sure, death seemed like a distinct possibility, especially considering the state of some of Dr. Horn's associates from what a quick glance around could tell her, but Ligeia was mighty grateful to have something else to focus on, even if it was kind of silly. The woman made a half attempt to rise, but her muscles weren't quite up to the challenge yet, so she curled her tail around in front of her feet.
"Clare, what are people saying?" If they're saying anything. "Has anyone gotten anything out of our...hosts?"

Pakaha LightspiritTo the side of the clearing, Pakaha watched the arrival of the prisoners with increasing vexation. His brow creased with worry and from the regular swish-swish of his tail, he appeared to be agitated. And indeed he was. The shaman drummed his fingers against the grip of his staff, debating, deliberating, and equivocating. Every so often his gaze darted to the trees, where the occasional far off sound of a hunting horn bellowed. Then he would turn his eyes on the prisoners, expression even more troubled than before. He did not dare to look at them for longer than a moment, turning away whenever made eye contact. Each time he did, he shuffled his hooves nervously. After several minutes of this, at last the centaur made his move. He took a deep, shuddering breath, and with that all tension seemed to leave him. He had become an avatar of power. There was no trace of the fretting, anxious centaur of before. Trotting towards the cage's guards, Pakaha greeted each one with a stern smile and a tip of the head. As the pair nodded in return, he beckoned them closer. The two obliged, drawing in close, and Pakaha in turn leaned in to speak to them in low tones. After a few seconds, one of the guards let out a peal of laughter. Clapping a hand across the back of their fellow, they steered them away from the cage and towards the edge of the clearing. Pakaha watched the pair go, expression unmoving, and then crossed to the prisoners. He came to a stop just outside the cage bars. The hush that settled at his approach (if brief) struck him at his core. He surveyed the cage's inhabitants, ever impassive gaze sliding from one prisoner to the next. He paused momentarily on Clare, before addressing all. “Did any of you sustain serious injury during capture...?” he asked. Pakaha Lightspirit is available for questioning!

Each sound of the horn made Guadalupe jump. Just what---what was going on? Was that someone else being captured, or had they decided to stomp out that idea, to have some raw dinner. He gulped, looking to the uninterested guards and then to the kinder centaur. The one that had given them a chance at running. He had tried talking to the guards. They were no help. The two that were manning his cage didn't even give him a passing glance. He wanted some answers, some sort of sign that his pal Mao was alright. That he was going to be alright. He didn't want to come onto this expedition in the first place! Er--well--that was slightly a lie. He did think that there was something in it for him. But now that he knew otherwise, he didn't want to hang around here in this dump? But what else could he do? His head hit the bars with a wince. There wasn't anything, was there? Maybe they'd knock him out again when they decided to chop him up for tonight's stew. Yeah, that would be nice...The blue nixie's eyes drifted close. Until he heard the sound of crunching leaves underneath hoof. Groaning, Lupe opened up his eyes to peer at the centaurs. Why--was he talking to the guards? Was it dinner time already? Guadalupe scooched his a** towards the back of the cage, arms immediately curling around his knees. This was too soon. He was too young to be someone's next meal! But the centaur didn't open the cages. Instead...he had asked if they were injured? "Why, do they get eaten first?" Pink eyes zoned in on the giant creature, studying him. No way was he going to fall for that trick. Even if his head was killing him.

Character:CoralynneResponse: Coralynne had been sitting quietly in her cages since her recapture. The centaurs had made quite work at capturing a large group of her companions. She really wasn't sure what was going to happen or when but the Dr and his crew had been here with progress in escaping. She was just going to have to save up her energy and maybe when the centaurs moved them she could run for it again. Sighing deeply she wondered if this was the end. No you dumb dumb if it was then end it would have ended. Her always so positive and helpful muse comments. She know that was true but she had heard the way some of the centaurs had been talking and a group of them really wanted them to be ended. Sighing again Coralynne shifted her weight around. In this small cage she was stating to have muscle cramps. [[Coralynne is open for interaction. ]]

Character name: Jin Response: "Eir?" He questioned, shifting from his spot in the cage and moved to check on the grim to make sure she was alright. He paused, eyes looking over Pakaha, frowning at the centaur. "I have not... but by what right do you have for keeping us capture?" He asked, irritable, fingers smoothing out his sleeve cuffs and then crumbled them again in a nervous angry twitch.

Character: EirBug points: 1 Response: She heard her name spoken by a familiar voice. "Jin...?" She turned to see the hybrid near the wall. "JIN!" She gave up, for a moment, trying to shake the bars lose and practically threw herself at the man, grabbing him in a fierce hug. "You're safe! I was worried, I didn't see you when this mess... But I saw Tabi, and we got separated, and I don't know if she's ok!" She was still highly agitated, but there was a note of relief in her voice as she saw that the kumiho wasn't harmed that she could see. "Are you ok?" She asked as she pulled back a little.

Character: Saiph RP Response: Saiph was still wiggling when the centaur that had them threw them into the cage with the others that had been recaptured. They did their best to land on their shoulder to protect their face from impact while keeping their hands clasped tightly. Once Saiph righted themselves, they finally opened their hands. Another strange leaf-bug sat in the hybrid's cupped palms. "It's okay," Saiph said soothingly. "You're safe now." Although the bug had cost Saiph their advantage, they felt it necessary to save it.
They placed the bug on their shoulder and did their best to brush off the dirt. Saiph looked around the cage to see the state they were all in. They were then distracted by the movement of the people outside the cage. One of them seemed to encourage the other two to leave before approaching the cage himself. Saiph eyed him until he spoke.
"Why does it matter if we did?" Saiph asked, incredulous of his question. "Isn't meat better if it's tenderized?" They wiped fiercely at the tears filling their eyes. Great, now the tiny hybrid was crying in front of the enemy. It's a good thing they won't be making it back to the college. It would be hard to explain the tears were from anger.

Character: Latros Response: Latros stopped crawling around the cage for a few moments as one of the centaurs approached. Seemed kinda important, given the bones and feathers. Didn't quite compensate for having too many legs, but what were they gonna do, right? Hanging upside-down from the bars, they watched as the centaur paused, perhaps assessing their harvest, ears perking 'up' as some of the fellow expedition members made comments along the lines that they usually would. They pipped in after a while, with a fanged grin. "I'm a little roughed up, but you should see the other guy!"
It might have been more proper to approach the centaur to chat, but this was a lot more comfortable, honestly. "Do we get patched up before the next round? Because I'm good to go if you guys wanna try catching me again."
