At Susan's call Naomi looked up from Beltigre, and moved closer to Susan, "Good news?" He couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow at the Dracovoir's mention of tickets. Her 'good news' wasn't exactly what they needed right now, but she was quick to add that she had found them a way forward, even if it wasn't the safest point. That was fine. They were progressing, and that was what mattered.
Despite his hesitance earlier, Naomi set Ieyasu down so that he could jump through the hole, after the other pokemon, before he himself lowered himself through. He landed with a soft thump, and while he wobbled back unsteadily, he was quick to correct himself and stand firm. Once he had his footing he began to look around, though he frowned softly as he stared at the many cradles and softer, colorful, decorations of a nursery. "...Just how many rooms are in this house?" Naomi asked aloud. A rhetorical question, he concentrated on searching for an exit. It was obvious that Dallas wasn't here, so they'd need to go on to the next room.
Was he further down? Or just a few rooms away? It was impossible to tell.

And it was becoming impossible to think, at least when the mobiles began turning and lulled out a decrepit song. "Susan, it is alright," Naomi tried reassuring, above the demented lullaby. He walked towards the pokemon, intending to calm her to the best of his ability, but stopped short, and jumped back, when one of the cradles suddenly fell over; he wasn't calm enough to remain unphased by a cheap jump scare. And, while unnerving to watch Beltigre burn a doll (even if she did have good reason), it didn't change the fact that they needed to move on.
"Ignore the voice," Naomi advised, and with Ieyasu joined Dallas' pokemon. "I know it is hard. But we have to, for Dallas' sake." They didn't have time to dawdle, and couldn't afford to be distracted, even by a mean-spirited... spirit; and, while he wanted to give it little credit, it had a point: they wouldn't get far if they remained as they were. "Susan." Naomi turned to the Dracovoir, and with a soft smile he placed his hand on her shoulder. "Is there any way you can locate Dallas? Can you... sense him anywhere within the house?"

Beltigre felt silly for getting so worked up over a stupid trick, and the ghost's taunts only got her dander up even more. Luckily, Naomi was there to keep her in check and focus on the task at hand. "I bet this is why Dallas likes this idiot," she muttered/meowed to herself. "He can get pretty focused when he needs to." The torracat went over to Naomi, leaving the creepy doll behind.
Now calmed down from Naomi's assurances, Susan looked up to the young man and nodded her head with a determined smile on her face. Sure thing Be- um, Naomi! Just let Susan focus. The dracovoir witch stepped further into the room, and used Calm Mind to help channel her aura-finding abilities. Susan see....glowies. Dalpha glowies, covered in mean nasty bad ghost glowies...hm! Hmmmmmmmm! Beltigre didn't like the amusement that Susan was finding, and growl out a demand for an explanation. Susan just figure something out!

Susan started off down the hallway that would lead to Dallas' location as she tried to explain her discovery to Naomi and the rest. So, Susan was looking for the glowies, right? Well, Susan used her noggin and made a real-eyes-sation! See, all times something spooky happen, there was icky purple glowies all over it, but when the spooks go bye-bye, the stuff was normal with some of the resi....resi...
"Residue?"
Yeah, residue! So, that's when Susan had a big brain thought: All the super scary spooks are all eel-oosions! Beltigre was not convinced. "What? You telling me that creepy baby was never a creepy baby? I saw with my own eyes, idiot!" Susan nodded. Yup yup, Susan solve mystery. Meanie ghost is just using eel-oosions on us to make us look stupid! Susan demon-strate! As they turned the corner that would lead to Dallas, a spike trap riddled with corpses was triggered, and slammed right into Susan. "SUSAN! NOOOOOOO-wait, what?" Susan pushed the trap off of her, and she was fine. spikes went through her body, but she was never punctured. See? Susan told the pack it was all a trick! If everyone concentrated, they'd realize that the trap was really just a foam board with a poorly drawn dusknoir on it that was set on a spring hinge. Now, just find Dalpha and we'll be A-otay!
Just then, a cry for help echoed from down the hall, and it sounded a lot like Dallas. "Alright, let's go!"

In a strange turn of events, Dallas was acting very much not like himself. He had cried out for help a few more times, but eventually given up on the prospect. Now, he was only trying his best to cover his head as the mass of serpents continued to crawl over him, hissing and threatening to bite him at any moment. He would flinch whenever one got close, and even the rare whimper would leave him, ever betraying his 'ain't shook' attitude.
To be fair, he had always been afraid of snake pokemon, ever since he was a child and his mother told him that his father had been killed by one. And even though he doubted her story later in life, he steered clear of arboks, ekans, and even dunsparce. I almost hope Naomi doesn't find me, he thought. I'm such a baby... He shuddered as another ekans crawled over him.
Daaaaaaalphaaa! Daaaaaaaalphaaaa! Dallas opened his eyes at the voice, a new feeling of hope restored. "Su-Susan! Help! It's snakes! Why did it have to be snakes!?!"
Susan and Beltigre went around the corner, and after shaking off the illusion the ghost had been causing, it was clear that Dallas was being attacked by...foam noodles. With googly eyes. And angry eyebrows made of felt. "Oh wow," said Beltigre. "That's embarrassing." Susan tried to get Dallas to realize what was going on. Dalpha, none of this is real! It's all eel-oosions! Dallas only struggled more in the foam noodles, too panicked to comprehend what Susan had said. "Eels?! Those are water snakes! s**t, stop standing there and help me!"
Susan face-palmed before looking over to Naomi. Naomi, can you help Dalpha? He like-likes you a whole bunch, so he'll probably listen to you more better.

Naomi brightened considerably when Susan reported to tracking down Dallas, even if he didn't quite understand her reference to 'glowies', he still got the gist of it. Though that optimism was quick to turn into curiosity when she confessed to a realization. "What is it, Susan?" Naomi followed after her hesitantly, 'all ears' for her epiphany. Meanwhile, he did his best to remain on the look out for anymore tricks or 'surprises' that might await them in the hall. Though it was a bit more mild than what they'd been subjected to, Naomi felt a pair of eyes watching him, and when he turned his head in the perceived direction he found a woman's portrait hanging on the wall across from them. Its eyes followed the group, and when it made full eye contact with Naomi the painting fell to the ground with a dull clatter.
Honestly, as odd as it was, the painting was a welcomed change.

"Illusions?" Naomi considered Susan's theory as he put the peeping portrait aside, easy enough to do with so many distractions readily available. That actually made a good amount of sense, and at the very least was plausible; honestly, he'd been so concerned with locating and rescuing Dallas that he hadn't even stopped to consider just how the ghost had been able to achieve such fearful feats. It almost came as a relief, having an idea of what was going on. Watching Susan become a pin-cushion, however, was not a relief; quite the opposite, in fact.
He knew she was going to prove her theory, but this was just... "Your deductive reasoning is very impressive, Susan," Naomi complimented, amongst a racing heart and the pressing need to rest himself against something sturdy; he settled for a deep breath and a check-in with Ieyasu instead. "You did a good job. But, please, in the future, it would be in everyone's best interest if you warned them of what you planned to do beforehand." Still though, now wasn't the best time to be giving advice, and when a voice called out from nearby, Naomi didn't hesitate to rush ahead with the others.

In Dallas' defense, had Susan not informed him of the the sensory tricks being played on them Naomi would've reacted in the same, cowering, manner. After all, the snakes did look real. But... once you were able to look past the illusion, which involved quite a bit of mental convincing on Naomi's part, the sight was... less than impressive; even Ieyasu seemed taken aback. Simply telling Dallas had no effective, as Susan's attempt had proven. So, a more direct approach was needed to 'rescue' Dallas. "Like-like?" Naomi tilted his head to the side. He wasn't familiar with the term, but he did understand what he needed to do. "Yes, alright."
Approaching Dallas carefully, Naomi put on his most sympathetic smile. "Dallas, everything will be alright. These snakes are just an illusion," he explained, before gently picking up one of the foam noodles and tossing it to the side. "They cannot hurt you. They are not real." And to prove his point, Naomi went as far as to remove one of the 'snake's' eyes and eyebrows, before unceremoniously dropping it to the ground. "You have nothing to be afraid of. Unless you have a fear of pool accessories." He bit back a more amused smile at that one, and swallowed back a laugh for good measure. He knew he shouldn't find anything about this situation humorous: Dallas had been kidnapped, and exposed to, what he believed were, snakes; but at the same time...
Honestly, Naomi was just relieved to find that his friend was alive and well. He'd just been... thrown for a loop, was all, upon this discovery. Still fighting back, soft, laughter, he offered his hand out to Dallas. "Come now, we need to leave."

Dallas was still struggling to survive the onslaught of terrifying reptilian monsters when Naomi came over to snap him out of it. "N-Naomi, stay away!" he shouted, "It's not safe! Just go on without me!" He flailed more and more, until Naomi continued explaining what was happening. He blinked a few times as he witnessed the pirate pull the eyes right of a snake's head- wait, they were googly eyes...on a foam noodle. "It's...it's just an illusion?" He then realized that there was literally nothing holding him down; his own spastic movements were the only thing keeping him entangled in the pathetically constructed snakes. Dallas sat up, and then eventually stood up completely. By that point, his facepaint was officially a smudgy mess (turns out it wasn't tear-proof), and he took a moment to wipe a good amount of it off of his face as he tried to compose himself.
Susan and Beltigre hurried over and took to embracing their trainer. Susan is so glad that Dalpha is okay! Beltigre and Susan missed you so much! Beltigre mewed in agreement, leaning up on his legs in an attempt to get pets. And it worked, as Dallas gave both of them some good pets. "Good job, you two," he said, still a little shaken up. He looked over to Naomi, not bothering to hide redness of his embarrassment. "I'd make some sorta threat about bringing this up to anyone," he started, "but I'm just glad that wasn't actually real. Just...thanks, Nao-kun." he smiled weakly, feeling like a complete idiot. "Alright, let's get the hell outta here, you guys."

✪Walking Pokemon ⇨ The crew, but elsewhere
While walking down the hallway, Dallas was trying to get back into his swagger. It was difficult to try and act like it wasn't a big deal. But he had completely wigged out in front of Naomi. He'd never live that down, that much was sure to him. But for the time being, the only thing left to do was get out of the haunted house. "Okay, all we gotta do is find this freaking ghost or whatever it is, and kick its a**, and then we can bounce on out of here," he claimed, still not completely composed. "Yo Susan, can you try to find the ghost's aura?" The little witch nodded, and started to search for it. Susan thinks she sees its glowies...and it's right...um, right-
"HERE!" Suddenly, a small slab fell from the ceiling, and from it came a swirling mass of miasma with a large, cackling grin. "Well, well, well! Looks like you idiots almost made it our here! How'd you like those SnAkEs, Dallas?! HeEhEeHeEhEe!" Dallas clenched his fists in anger. "Oh, screw you, ghost! We're outta here!" Dallas took a step forward, when the ghost shouted angrily. "YOU CAN'T LEAVE! Not if I have to be stuck here forever! Being these idiot's little spook-maker...I'll have you know, I've devoured the souls of a thousand-"
Beltigre didn't have time for dumb backstories. She dug her fangs into the keystone and let it ablaze in between her teeth. "Hey! Let me go or...my army of zombies will devour all of you!!!" Dozens of shambling corpses started to break through the walls and the floorboards...but Dallas and his pokemon didn't flinch. "Yeah, that's not gonna work on us anymore," he said with a smirk. "See, my good pals here keyed me in on your little illusion game." Just as he had said, Susan didn't bother with the cheep plastic hands that lined the ground, and readied a moonblast for the ghost. "H-Hey, it was all just a joke, right? C'mon, no need to be rash about this, right?!?"
Dallas' smirk turned into a scowl. ""Hey, Naomi. What was it that this ghost was gonna do to us?" The ghost flinched with a sinking feeling closing in. "That's right; he was gonna scare us to DEATH. LOOKS LIKE IT'S YOUR TURN!"

After delivering the ghost a heck of a beatdown (which turned out to be a pokemon known as Spiritomb), Dallas chucked a pokeball at it while it was unconscious. It didn't even shake, and quickly confirmed the successful catch. "There, now this little a*****e won't be able to do this to anybody else." He'd have to send it off to a PC when he got the chance, since he wasn't going to carry it around with him. He registered the catch to his pokedex when the prompt came for a nickname. "Lil a*****e it is, then," he muttered as he jotted it down.
Now that the little troublemaker was gone, the Haunted House became a much less spooky ordeal. Not only did all of the spooky instances turn out to be really childish, but obvious exit signs were all over the place. "I don't know about you, Nao-kun, but I think I've had my fill of haunted houses for the night." Susan nodded in agreement and started off for the exit. Beltigre demanded ups, and was obliged when her owner picked her up to carry out. "I gotta thank you gals for coming to the rescue like that," he said happily. "That goes for you, too, Nao-kun. I was...well, I was having issues. So thanks for bailing me out of trouble." It was odd to thank Naomi for being the brave one, and he blushed slightly at the role reversal.
And with that, Dallas and his crew left the house, glad to leave it behind them.

Hand covering his mouth, he stepped back to give Dallas room to be reunited with his pokemon. He hadn't forgotten the severity of their situation, still, but they could have a moment to breathe, and gather themselves before continuing on. "My silence comes with a fee," Naomi joked. "Threats are not enough for me." With a nod of agreement, he was more than ready to leave, he followed eagerly after Dallas.

Keeping his eye out not just for an exit, but their ghost, Naomi turned to Susan when she was directed to locate the latter. Fortunately for them, she didn't have to look far, though it was rather unfortunate for Naomi's heart; his heart couldn't take too many more jump scares. To finally be face-to-face with their tormentor, it made sense that it would be a pokemon, and yet Naomi still found himself surprised. Why was it revealing itself now? Never mind that.
Even with his heart rate still a bit high, Naomi set the pokemon with a soft glare, though kept his mouth shut; there wasn't he needed to say. Ieyasu's back arched and a soft growl escaped his bared teeth, now that they had an actual target there was more that could be done. His sentiment was shared, it was just a shame that he didn't get the chance to make a move against the pokemon himself, and that was something of a shame.
It took short work to be rid of the threat, and neither Naomi or Ieyasu had to lift a finger. Though, Naomi did look away once Susan and Beltigre began their attack. He didn't need to see that, he just needed to wait until they finished.

Once the pokemon had been thoroughly trounced, and been caught (which came as a surprise to Naomi) the group was finally able to make decent progress into leaving the haunted house; things went a lot faster when their wasn't a ghost sending swords and zombies at you, every few minutes. "I think I need something to eat," Naomi confessed, agreeing with Dallas' sentiment on taking a break from haunted houses, most likely for the rest of the season. "If you would like, I can pay for both our meals." A moment of silence passed between the group, and in that time Naomi managed to find a line of tickets tucked away in a small corner; a parting gift, perhaps?
"You know Dallas," Naomi started as he tucked the tickets away. "This is the second time I have had to rescue you. First in the corn maze, and now here." He struck up a cheeky grin. "Will you be making this a habit?"

As Naomi, Dallas, and their pokemon found their way out of the haunted house, Naomi's other pokemon were moving about the picnic area, gradually making their way through the games, once again. They'd long past finished their lunch, and come to the consensus that, while they waited for their trainer to finish, the least they could do was entertain themselves. Or, rather, Jingu had decided this, and then managed to rally the rest of the team in joining her.
