The hot chocolate was unfortunately cooling down. No longer did it feel warm in the kirin's hands. It was a shame, really. The piping hot liquid may have been scorching their tongue but the warmth that was derived from that heat was comforting. At least they were a bit drier than they had been previously.
Soleil looked from booth to booth as they ventured forward. Nothing seemed too entertaining. It was a shame that Nuka had moved elsewhere. It was getting a bit lonely wandering around by themselves. Most of the other nightmares had someone else on their arm, either taken or worse yet, with a kid. As much as the kirin loved little ones; they did have standards. Hitting on a parent with the kid present wasn't their cup of tea. No matter how old the kid was.
One of the kid's sitting on a stall counter made eye contact with Soleil, thrusting out another bunyip plush. The kirin's gaze softened and they pushed it back towards the freshling. "I couldn't possibly," the kid pushed back, all the more insistent. Reluctantly, Soleil took the stuffed familiar. "A new best friend." Soleil smiled at the kid, placing the creature in their bag. They were probably going to pawn it off to some other brat but the freshling didn't have to know that.
Rayleigh grumbled burrowing into the softness of his dad's sweater and just gave an unhappy noise. His father had taken his book and bunyip and was talking lowly but he was just done with everything. He blinked as something warm and soft and living peeped near his ear and blinked at the dark nezubat that decided to perch on his dad's sweater and nibble on one of his overly large ears.
The night was winding down to a close. There wasn't much else to do. Some of the stalls had already sold out of their goods and were closing up shop. Soleil idly stared at a group of fennekits that someone was selling. They had always wanted one as a kid. The kirin still didn't understand why.
They crouched down as one of the familiars approached, exposing it's belly. Well...they did offer. Soleil idly scratched the long and soft fur. Was there skin underneath them? The kit suddenly rose up, making the kirin's eyes widen, taken aback. They curled around their legs, much like a vesper cat would.
Too damned cute.
Soleil took out their wallet and paid for the little creature. Their roommate wouldn't mind right?
Apparently there was a deal going on at the fennekit booth. How weird. Soleil had been leaving the area to possibly scout out some more last minute deals of things that had to go when a hand stopped them. The fennekit yipped excitedly and tugged in that direction. Soleil had to turn around.
And their questioning gaze met with an....older man? Soleil raised a brow as the gentleman offered a plush forward. Huh. Another spectrefox. There seemed to be a lot of those around. Soleil took the plush and placed it in their bag. They had collected so many. There had to be a way to get rid of a few.
"I'm afraid my only talents are in art," Eirian said with a shrug. "I've mostly been relying on luck all morning." They spoke with amusement in their voice as they admitted their strategy. Or lack there of, as was the case. "Sadly, I don't think there are any games where I can draw a picture to win a prize."
"I would never have pegged you as a darts person, though," commented Eirian good-naturedly. "Not to say it's weird... but you're definitely got more to you than you might first appear." They smiled widely at Sally before nudging her a bit in the rib with their elbow. "Any other secrets you'd like to share?"
Soleil was looking for deals. They weren't looking for... well... this.
Soleil blinked up at the nezubat that was flying around their head. Trailing them with their eyes was making them dizzy. An arm reached up to wave the familiar away. Hopefully far away from them. The fennekit yipped and jumped up on their leg as if they could reach them. It was a nice...try.
Instead of the nezubat getting the hint and flying off, they perched on they dive bombed and perched upside down on their boa. Crap. Their roommate was going to kill them when they got home. Did they even have enough room for all of these familiars?
"Luck is a talent, some people are plain unlucky folks," Sally replied, teasing lightly and giggled slightly. "Maybe you can set up a booth and do face painting or caricatures some time." It would be a way for Eirian to get their name out their and perhaps ease up on some of the misconceptions? She paused debating and shoved it aside. Later.
"It started as something to protect myself with, darts are easier to aim then throwing knives and it just went from there." Sally gave a slight shrug. "Cherubs... just as a whole are fragile and it going to be harder for me to defend myself by punching someone so, darts, throwing knives, and I just really sort of like being a bit of a bad a**?" She added, hesitantly, flustered. "I um... also like comics."
