Oliver was quiet as he prepared to dive once more. The brief rest on the shore had given him time to regain some energy, and he had managed to keep from getting sick, it was just the grief that weighed him down. But he had lived with grief before, and the guilt and loss all inextricably tangled up in it, and even this baseless wave of emotion could be handled with sad acceptance.
Swimming down to Atlantis got easier and easier as the effects of the Creation tree were left behind, and he was feeling more himself as he climbed out of the water and rejoined the group. This was his first time there, and had no idea what to expect.
With the weight of grief gone his natural nervous anxiety began to kick in, and he busied his hands with fixing stray strands of hair and then double-checking his gear.

Just a note that things will start working towards a wrapup tonight. If you havent done rolls since any part after the Lobster fight and still want/need to do them then go ahead and do so. * This doesn't mean for any new hunters who weren't present for Lobster fight to do rolls.

Swimming was one thing, diving was something completely different.
With swimming, you could see the surface. You could touch the surface. If you were feeling panicked, you could breach the water and run back onto the nearest shore and get away from whatever it was in the water that frightened you. But diving... diving meant submerging yourself to where the surface wasn't so close anymore, it wasn't so safe and reassuring.
She didn't want to look like a scaredy-cat, especially with her twin on stand-by, right beside her, so she put on the equipment and jumped into the water with the others.
After all, things would be okay for them.... right? Right??
So down she went, focusing on the divers ahead of her and not the fact she was pulling further and further away from the surface. She tried to ignore how creepy the cave looked and tried to imagine all of the cool things that lay beyond it. Cool. It was going to be cool and adventurous and not deadly and horrible.
As she reached the opening after the others, she glanced back to ensure that Luka was still with her - whatever was going to happen, she wanted to make sure the braver girl would be there to keep her calm.

Cee didn't have much sympathy. It wasn't a deliberate effort to, just simply something she didn't possess in these sorts of situations. She was subdued when she watched Kim fall and the sort of hushed shock that had gone through everyone. She watched Ever take initiative and leave and all the petite hunter could do was put on her diving mask and continue on. She was healthy enough and some people looked like newbs. It wasn't like she was driven to help but seeing Atlantis was too interesting to pass up.
She followed those who knew the way better through the dark waters and when she emerged she found Zeke's elbow with wet and chilly hands.
Chris felt like he'd done much too little to stop now. He followed Oliver in the dive and tried to forget the sight of Kim simply falling like that.
Just like that.
One minute there and one minute gone. His face didn't belay his surprise or worry but it would not be the first hunter he'd see fall.. die.. He had to tell himself to get used to it or he wouldn't survive here.

It was hard to stand against the weight of whatever the weird island was pushing onto her but she did it. Were Lena not at her side, Luka didn't know if she would have been able to. Not when her stomach twisted violently and she knew that they'd lost someone.
That girl they carried off looked dead and the wailing hadn't help her theory.
While she wasn't about to admit it, Luka was shaken. But there was still a mission to complete and they hadn't been hit too hard when it came to the lobster.
But mostly, she didn't think she was ready to go back with a corpse.
The decision was easy with her sister at her side, they were going to push forward and finish the mission with the rest of them. She didn't know how they'd be able to help but they would try.
This time, with the dive things were easier. She focused on the outline of her sister and the others as they swam and not the image of the girl crumpling to the floor like a broken doll. She came up after Luka did, immediately wadding through the water to tread water with her sister, finding a hand when she was able

"So, what, it's 'off' right now and it's gonna turn 'on' when we go in?" he asked, brow raised as he looked toward the doors that were pointed out, and then briefly switched gears to the other pools. The warning made him a little curious again, but he wasn't so stupid as to outright ignore it to try and sate that curiosity. If he survived this then maybe he could take a closer look, but for now he just looked back at Melvin.
"Any idea what happens if it shuts down while we're still inside?"

More hunters arrived out of the pool and he helped any who needed to be pulled up.
"We don't need to go to Atlantis today. We just need to alert Sophie. That's why I want no one to move right now until everyone is good and ready. If it shuts down, we just walk out. The door doesn't lock on us. I've walked out of it when it's powered down before." He stated.
"Sophie is the AI that is what I've been communicating with since arriving. There is no one else here. They are all dead. She is the one we talk to." He hoped.
Seren slowly moved over to listen to Rhys and Melvin talking, her face still as blank as she could make it. Being near Rhys, at least, left her feeling a little more stable, and less like doing something stupid. She wanted to know what they were going to do next, however, and she hoped their discussion would enlighten her to this information. She found herself kneeling next to Rhys, in the end, still listening, watching Melvin's face as he spoke.
She wondered, vaguely, how long it would take her before she collapsed. She refused to allow it to happen until the pyramid had been returned, however.

[ Returning to Base ]
Terry wasn't sure who was talking, whether he himself said anything, or if he understood anything. He just knew Kim was being brought back to the island so the Life Division could take a look at her and then wake her up. Whoever it was that said she was dead was either lying or just didn't know about the Power of Friendship and Love.
He took Kim's body to bring her back to the island and that should have been enough to prove she was indeed dead. But there was no acknowledgment on his face. No anger on his face, no sadness, no remorse. His expression was a carefully controlled blank because Terry did not want to deal with this reality. He did not want to accept that this was the kind of death someone like Kim got.
"This is a bullshit off-screen type of death, Kim. Come back. You deserve a cooler death. Hell, even a lesbian suicide pact would be better than this." He muttered to her beneath his breath.
Jordan breathed a silent sigh of relief as Ever took Kim, although an edge of guilt ate at him for passing off this responsibility to someone else. It seemed that Ever was fine with taking it on, though, and Jordan nodded thanks to him, gripping his shoulder briefly before he turned to make his way down toward the water.
As Melvin started checking people's gear in preparation for the dive, Jordan hurried his steps to catch up with Rep, reaching out to catch his arm and speaking in a low voice. "You okay?"

Joy finally managed to pull herself out of the quagmire of her thoughts to discover Kim's death and the party splitting up. A part of her wanted to go back with Kim and the others but there was nothing she could do about that. Best that she go where she could be useful, even if it was as just a meat shield.
For all the use she's ever been. She forced herself to go towards Melvin and the others preparing to go to Atlantis. Those she knew, she gave their shoulders a firm squeeze, the only way she could think to make them aware of her presence.
He turned at the touch to his elbow, blinking down at Cee before drawing his arm out of her grip so he could loop it over her shoulders to give her a small squeeze.
Leaning his head down close too hers, he'd lower his voice to just above a whisper. "You alright?" She didn't seem hurt at all, at least not physically, and he knew how tough she could be, but he asked anyways.

Rep stood mutely by the water's edge, gathering his strength before swimming back, not caring about the pendant and willing to risk the danger instead. He moved his arm to take hold of Jordan's tightly.
"I dunno." he said flatly. "Am I ever?"

For just a moment Soleil let Zane hold her—let herself sink into that grief and that fear that was willing up inside her—then he was drawing her back, because they needed to continue on. That girl, Kim, had died to get back whatever it was Melvin was holding, and it needed to be returned. If they couldn't do that, then what was the point?
"Oui," are said with a nod. "Let's go. The sooner we return that thing, the sooner we can go home." I want to go home.
The gear want anything she had had to deal with before, but she managed to get it strapped on, mask in place, and passed save a last long look before disappearing beneath the waves to follow Melvin and the others down.
