Aldrich Brandt " But it's disgusting. You can hear the cameraman egging them on!" He gestured to the screen again before drinking more, wincing again at the harsh, burning sensation. " How terrible. They're exploiting each woman's insecurities in an attempt to pit them against each other, and they're both eating it up. What kind of person would agree to appear on this kind of television show?" he asked, clearly misunderstanding the appeal of reality television.

" You'll see it everywhere. From porn to politics. You think people are authentically happy to see me? No, they just want to try and get special treatment or at least be known as the person that's friends with the king. Reality TV gives just about anyone the chance to be famous and recognized instead of a random person. For me these shows are a perfect chance to see the drama in normal people without having to wait or anything." ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Aldrich BrandtAldrich was quiet as the king spoke, brow furrowed the only sign that he heard a single word. When Earle finished, he remained silent for a moment, then opened his mouth. " I don't care that you're royal," he stated outright. " In fact, I think you're a spoiled brat who throws tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants. If you weren't a grown man, I'd spank you." He cleared his throat, adjusting his position before relaxing once more. " But I also think you're nice when the urge arises, and you're funny. If my refusal to take a woman you give me means anything, I don't give a sh-t about receiving special treatment. I enjoy drinking with you, and that's all that really matters to a man like me." He polished off his vodka, then leaned over for the spare wine glass. He filled it up with the cheap wine all the way to the top, then leaned back and sipped, eyes remaining on the screen. He didn't want to seem too friendly. They weren't best friends yet.

He didn't mind, but was more amused to know that that's what the host had thought. " You're a mystery to me." he said, deciding it was his turn to talk. " A bit childish, a definite short temper. Aldrich Brandt" Yes, because the son of two poverty-stricken farmers and occasional diamond smugglers is the perfect idea for a noble." He snickered, then raised his glass a little. " As typical as it sounds, I never really got to be a child. My father was weak and incapable of properly providing for us, so I became the patriarch at an early age. I guess my adolescence is finally catching up to me now that I'm rich enough to allow it." He was quiet once again, then decided to continue. " Although I'm not really that uptight. Just seem that way at first because I don't really like anyone except for those who I've either given life to or have seen me naked." His free hand moved to touch his smooth face, wincing at the memory of the loss of his precious facial hair.

" If it's anything, I didn't exactly have the noblest of families, either." he added. " It's been too long so I hardly remember them, but I know they weren't royal. Being a human in a frog's body gave me some authority over the frogs, and I tricked the girl that kissed my curse away into handing her kingdom over to me. I can understand your self treatment." The fight on screen settled and now it showed different people giving their opinions over what happened. Using that free time, Earle got up and left to find a restroom. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Aldrich BrandtThe man sat still, thinking about what he now knew about Earle's backstory. So he was originally a mere human, not royal or special in anyway. He didn't know what to do with the information, but it certainly helped him connect better to the king. They were both self-made men, one smuggling blood diamonds and the other tricking innocent princesses, both doing whatever it took to get out of their situations. It was strange how much they really did have in common. Looking up, Aldrich called out to the king. " You can use the bathroom in my room. It's the second door to the right and inside. Excuse the mess." Of course, it wasn't messy in his bedroom or bathroom, but he always excused it. Force of habit.

He glanced at the mirror and did a double take. This new face of his would take getting used to. He'd had it for, what, a month? Maybe less? The first week he had in a new life he nearly jumped out of his skin every time he saw his reflection. A sudden change after three generations could startle someone someone. Did he even look better than his old self? He almost flustered Heinrich, didn't he? That was a good sign, right? Ah, and the look on his foolish boyfriend's face. That jealousy! That was a beautiful sight. Minutes later, Earle walked down the stairs. " What did I miss?" he called out. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Aldrich was on his phone while the muted television tried to sell him a Swiffer, reading several news articles, and not really caring about any of them. " Although the large woman seems to be plotting the thinner one's murder." He chuckled, then put his phone down. It dinged with a text alert, but he ignored it. It was probably his ex-wife again. She'd been texting him all night.

She's got a bad habit of pushing me to take her out whenever she's in town," he said, moving the phone to place it under his leg. He wouldn't dare admit that she also pushed for the occasional romp between the sheets whenever she visited.

" Ava is very persuasive, yes, but I like to remember like our divorce has made her disgusting to me. Otherwise, we wouldn't have divorced in the first place."
