As he was walking Ryou tripped over something. Something that headbutted him back. Spores landed on him making him cough and in the hubub he saw a silloute stand in front of him. "Yu-Yuri" he said trying to talk through the coughs "Wa-TER water gun" He cried out when the Shroomish outsped Yuri and used an attack. "YURI" Ryou felt like he couldn't breathe, he couldn't break eye contact with the form of his pokemon. Yuri stood up shaking itself off and giving a cry she shot off a water gun attack that landed square on the Shroomish. Ryou let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. "use..ab.absorb" he said shakily watching as YUri shot off her own attack as the Shroomish stumbled back up. The attack did it making the Shroomish faint. "Your..you're okay" RYou cried rushing to the lotad "Yuri you're okay..yuo're okay oh we're okay" he held the lotad close trying hard not to shake. The other pokemon surrounded the boy seeking reassurance themselves "We're okay" Ryou said and kept saying "we;re...we're okay"

Ryou wasn't sure how long they sat there-how long he sat there but eventually Ryou looked up from the pile. "We should..we should get moving" he said wiping his eyes. He stood up putting Yuri down on the ground so he could walk and looked around. He wasn't sure where Kai had taken them and hadn't read enough about woods as he would have liked to really know which way to take but he knew better than to go deeper into the foliage. Ryou kept walking, looking back every now and then to make sure the rest of the party was with them ( sans Mihiro who was flying over them) "I think we should go this way" he said when they reached yet another fork on the trail though he couldn't help but look at Kai for confirmation. It was instinct to be fair, he couldn't think of a time back at the dragon den when he hadn't been looking to the pokemon-if not for guidance then for reassurance. Kai himself had taken it upon himself since he was an axew to look out for him. Kai nodded giving Ryou a gentle shove for good measure and Ryou smiled. He took the left turn and once more looked back to make sure that his party followed.

Continuing to walk Ryou tried not to let his thoughts wander too fast. The day of Risa's death was still too fresh in the boy's mind, as was the fear he had felt grab him when they encountered another shroomish. To keep himself distracted, the boy started paying more attention to his surroundings. He could still find more medicinal herbs after all, the more he had the more he could he could heal his Pokemon if another shroomish decided to attack them again right? Focusing on that he started looking around, taking notice of things like shape and number of leaves and paying extra attention to the ground.

Ryou looked up suddenly when he hear Mihiro give out a cry. The little wingull swooped down standing in front of Ryou just in time for a Cascoon to drop from one of the trees above him. "You want..to fight this?" Ryou asked unsure. He bit his lip when Mihiro gave an affirmative still shaky and anxious about the idea of battling. But well...it was blocking their path. "Okay" he said The Cascoon gave out a hiss, red eyes fixed on it's new opponent. The Cascoon attacked first firing off a poison sting that had Ryou bite back a cry of fear. He was really starting to hate that attack. "Use Water gun!" he said wanting to end things quickly. Mihiro did as told tho Ryou couldn't help but wring his hands anxiously as he noticed the wingull was moving slower than it usually did. The wild Cascoon fainted and Ryou gave a sigh of relief. He knelt down reaching out for his Pokemon. "Are you okay MIhiro?" he asked smiling when the bird Pokemon gave a chirp.

Ryou's relief was shortlived as Mihiro tried to fly off and quickly fell on the ground. "Mihiro!" he picked up the bird panic rising as he realized it was shaking. "what...what's wrong?" MIhiro crooned softly and Ryou's mind raced. The cascoon had only fired off one attack. What could have- "Poison sting" the boy whispered swallowing back more panic "you were poisoned." Poisoned like Tuski had been back in Oldale..poisoned like.. A claw on his shoulder broke him out of his thoughts. Kai stood there handing him a bag of powder he had made from the roots that morning. Clearly the dragon Pokemon had gotten it out of his bag. "..r..right" he said shakily taking the powder. "MIhiro take this" he said giving the Wingull the powder. "its..its okay" He held the Pokemon close trying his best not to let the panic overtake him. The medicine would help. It would. It would help.

Ryou kept holding Mihiro shutting his eyes against the impending fear that the same thing that happened to Risa would happen to his WIngull. He had shut his eyes in an attempt to push back the inpemnding panic but he could feel Kai at his back and Noctis curled up against his side. He knew Kai was next to Noctis and that Yuri was on his other side. Eventually Mihiro stopped shaking and RYou forced himself to look down at her. "OH..thank Mew" the boy murmured as he saw the Wingull was okay. "THe medicine worked " he said letting out shaky breath and hugging the WIngull closer. MIhiro didn't protest even when Ryou kept carrying her as he stood up. "we should..we should look for more of it" he said as he started walking again.

Ryou kept walking, slower now that he was looking for more roots. He still carried Mihiro not wanting to part from the little Pokemon just yet. Kai walked beside him while the rest of the Pokemon walked behind him. "Usually roots are under logs or bushes" he told his party "so let's..let's look around there" With multiple sounds of agreement. the party spread around a bit though they still remained within close distance of each other-Ryou couldn't blame them. Between the amount of times they had been attacked and poisoned he wasn't any more keen on being apart from any of them. Still holding MIhiro in one hand he knelt down looking under the bushes and going deeper into the shrubbery.

Ryou kept looking grinning when he found another root like the one he had found earlier. "here's one" he exclaimed holding it up for the Pokemon to see. "let's see if we can find more" Placing Mihiro down gently he made his way deeper under the brush. He winced when the scratches on his arms stung as he leaned on his arm but kept going. Unbeknown to him another Cascoon descended facing the party with a glare. MIhiro whimpered hopping away and Noctis whined. The last thing either Pokemon wanted to do was risk getting poisoned again. Tsuki jumped in front of both her team mates. She was tired of seeing her team mates hurt and more than willing to fight the bug before it could do something to upset their trainer more. The Cascoon used Iron Defense, making itself stronger against even the type advantage Tsuki presented. Not one to be pushed aside or deterred Tsuki gathered fire around herself pushing off against the ground and hitting the Cascoon while surrounded by fire. Tsuki heard her team mates cheer as the Cascoon fainted and rolled off and couldn't help but puff off her chest. The little chick Pokemon wasn't going to let anything keep her from battling.

Ryou came out from under the shrub, sticks and leaves clinging to his hair and dirt smeared on his face. He hadn't;t found more roots but that was fine. He still had some medicine left he figured. Rubbing at his arms as the scratches stretched and stung the ten year old sat there for a moment thinking of what his next move should be. He had gotten turned around while walking he knew that. While at first he didn't mind guessing which direction to go to, his Pokemon had been attacked 3 times and he really wished he knew what he was doing. Rubbing at his eyes ( they probably stung becase he had gotten dirt on them..yeah) the boy rested his head on his arms and thought. After a bit he seemed to remember something. "Mihiro here I can.." he said reaching into his bag and bringing out an potion. He sprayed the potion on the wingull breathing easier when he saw the effects of the battle fade He picked the bird Pokemon back up secretly glad when she didn't seem to want to fly just yet and just let him and stood up. Ryou kept walking through the forest trying his best to hide just how tired he was becoming. Were gonna have to camp again, the boy thought looking back at his party. The pokemon seemed in good spirits but they had been walking just as long as he had. He could imagine if he was tired so were they. "Come on lets find a place to rest" he told them trying to find a place deeper in the forest where they wouldnt get stepped on by someone walking by. He walked a little farther away, surprised to smell...food? Walking towards the source of the smell he stopped when he found an older looking man. His beard was streaked with grey and even sitting on a log Ryou could tell he was big. "Well hello there" the beaded man said. Ryou found himself clasping his hands behind his back suddenly shy. He fought the urge to bow. "um hi" the boy said feeling a sense of relief as Kai caught up to him and stood as his back. Noctis padded up to stand next to his legs. He knew somehow without looking back that the rest of his team was there. "well" the man said "are you gonna sit?" Not knowing what else to do Ryou sat. A moment later found him in front of a fire, stronger and yet more contained than anything he had ever built. "Youll get better as you travel" the man who had introduced himself as Ritcher said handing him a stick to throw into the fire. Ryou took it gingerly, having never really gotten that close to a fire before. After an encouraging look from Ritcher he threw the log in the firing, smiling softly when Ritcher seemed proud he didnt cower away from droping the log into the fire.

"It is my p-pleasure to meet you. My name is L-Leeanne Romanov." Her voice was crisp and clear. Or at least she hoped it sounded that way. Would her mum be proud? She hoped so. Sage wobbled on the girl's head. It seemed the dip had almost knocked the bird off her perch. Readjusting her wings, the bird cooed, annoyed that she hadn't been annoyed.
"Oh! This is Sage. And that is Camellia" The bird flapped a wing and the Ralts bobbed her head. Leeanne chuckled at the wobbling on her head. The thought of camping was exhilarating. "I don't have anything besides a blanket... Can I still be of help?"
She watched as Kicha brought Zane a bag of items and then the Lopunny went out to fight instead. Camellia tracked the pokemon's movements in an effort to keep from hitting her with any splash damage. "What do you mean by Mana?" Leeanne's soft voice asked. She'd been paying attention to Zane's directions to his team. Maybe there was even more she didn't know!

"So what has you battling?" Ritcher asked as Ryou spooned around the bowl of spoon he had been given-he hadnt quite been able to say no. It wasnt like anything he had had before but he knew it was rude to refuse food and propriety had been drilled into him pretty greatly for all the eight years he had been alive. "um..I dont..." Im not a battler had been on the tip of his tongue because really could he call himself a battler with everything that had happened? Ritcher smiled encouragingly and there was something about him, the friendly vibe, having an adult there for the first time since his journey...that had the whole story pouring out. "..and its all my fault I dont know...I dont know what to do I dont wanna lose anyone else" Ryou said at the tale end of it, bowl of stew discarded and placed on the ground next to the stump he was sitting. He wiped at his eyes unsurprised by the fact they were wet again. He was being such a baby. He was ten for Lugias sake. "Now now none of that" Ritcher said soothingly causing Ryou to look up. "But I-" "Now you listen to old Ritcher" the old man said, still soothingly but taking on a firmer tone. "Battles are dangerous, sometimes pokemon get hurt..or worse" Ryou looked down, giving out a noise of surprise when Ritcher reached out to tilt his chin up, making him look at him. "but look around little one, how many pokemon have tried to fight you while you walked here regardless of that?" Ryou found himself unable to arguee, there had certainly been pokemon trying to attack him, heck his own pokemon were still raring to fight even after seeing their new friend died "specially shroomish" the boy couldnt help but mumble blushing and ducking his head when instead of a scolding Ritcher chuckled "yeah well those stinkers do like jumping out at you" he said sitting back down "But Ryou dont you wonder why?" "Why...pokemon fight?" He hadnt to be truthful, and that only made him feel worse. Here he was making pokemon fight for him to get badges and he didnt even know why. "Pokemon need to battle to get stronger" Ritcher said looking out at the woods surrounding them "Its how they survive. That little Tailow had probably been fighting for years before you found it...would still be fighting now. No telling if the outcome would be any different" Ryou thought about that, he had heard something similar..specifically aimed at the people who thought battling was cruel in and of itself. "Pokemon need to battle, thats why they seek us out"Ritcher went on "they need us..and your team needs you to get stronger. Its why they havent stopped" Ryou suppoed that made sense "but Risa-" "was an accident"Ritcher butt in"accidents happen. Your pokemon rely on you and you on them you hang on to that" Ryou nodded, it was a lot to digest but it did make him feel better to talk to someone finally. Ritcher picked up the bowl placing it on Ryous lap "you think on that and get some food in ya" he said "itll do you some good" Ryou nodded and took a spoonful of stew finding it better than he had before and despite everything found a small smile to give Ritcher.

After eating Ryou found that he did feel better, though he couldnt help but feel tired and drained by everything that had happened. He found his eyes closing, his head feeling more and more heavy as he started to nod off. "what say we start taking out the sleeping bags?" Ritcher asked. Ryou found himself agreeing. He finished up the last of his stew before putting the bowl down and taking out his sleeping bag. He also took out his blanket and pillow. "They staying out?" Ritcher asked about his team. Ryou looked down. "Um yeah " he said "they..they like staying around me" Specially after recent events, though Kai had always liked being near him and got restless when he wasnt. Ryou himself found he slept better with his team curled up around him. WIth Kai right behind him. The latter had always been true to be fair. Even back in Blackthorn. Ritcher nodded before taking out two pokeballs. Holding each in one hand, he pushed the release button on them both. In a beam of red light a Geodude and a tree pokemon he had never seen before. "Wow! Can I scan them?" he asked before he could stop himself. Ritcher laughed, a full laugh and Ryou found it impossible not to smile. He scanned both pokemon-and huh so that was a Swdowoodo. Then picked up his sleeping arrangements again. "you really should look into a tent kid, you dont wanna get caught by the rain" "Yeah" Ryou said rubbing the back of his neck. "I just..theyre so big" And there were so many kinds of them. How was he supposed to know which kind to get? "Well just get a kid sized one. You know since youre a kid" Oh "Im ten years old" the boy couldnt help but mumble. Though by the laugh Ritcher gave it wasnt something that helped his case any.
