Effects: Fear, Age, Sleep

The third pool was not far away, and as he took a drink, he felt his eye lids drooping. he felt tired, sleepy. He felt the need to lay down.

It was only because of his death guardian training that he pushed himself away from the water, away from the sweet temptation to just lay there.

Dillon stopped in his tracks, taking a step back to the red pool. He liked his older self of his so much better -

The trainee indulged himself in another gulp, waiting for the effects of set in. He felt wrinkles forming on his face, and the beard growing slightly longer.

He liked himself like this so much better.

[EXITING]
Effects: Fear, Age, Sleep, Insanity

With his body heavy, he dragged himself to another pool. Four of four. The sip went down hard, as he started to hear voices, calling him, wanting him.

Instead of answering, he exited out the building as quickly as he could.

<Meh.> Nessy snorted disapprovingly.

What is it?

<I like the young ones, boil, you're not cute any more like thisssss>

Well, I do.

<Hah. I've never seen someone so willing to squander their youth away. Tell me, did you really hate being so young and naive?>

Yes. He shook his head irritably. He hated being the inexperience that came with youth, and the fact that he was just so mediocre at everything. This...maturity was cheaply earned, but it was better than anything.

<One to go.> she reminded.

Dillon dipped his hand into the pool of green, cupping up a scoop of water. He drank.

And he was young again. Damn.

He really started to becoem more and more concerned about his age. If the tower was somehow built to weak those climbing up it, then making them useless due to age would be a great tactic. No old man could do anything once he reached the top no matter how weak or strong the obstacles were higher up.

He wondered how rapidly he would age once he stopped drinking and he rubbed his hands together as he looked to Rin. "I hope this stops."

But as he thought about this, he took out his phone. This place was lovely, and after a moment, he decided to take a picture of himself as a older man and then, because his phone was out, turned to Rin.

"Hold still a moment, okay?" He took her picture. "For reference. I want to see if we are aging every few minutes or not." That and it was nice to realize how he would look in a few years.

Rin took another sip of water and aged more right before his very eyes. She looked at Melvin just as his phone clicked, capturing a her that wouldn't exist on a permanent basis for at least ten more years. She pouted huffily at him. "Oh come on, don;t take my picture. It's embarrassing."

25 + 2 age = 35

He smiled to her and turned his phone over to show her. "Come on. You don't age bad at all. Now you can see what you have to look forward too. We can be old bitties with the rest of us." He said, before noticing his hair over hsi shoulders. "Geez. I'll be needing a trim too or else I'm going to start looking like the other hunters on the island." He brushed the hair back behind him and wished he was the sort to own hair ties.

He decided to see if all the pools didn't change his age, and tried another, this time sipping from a new pool. As he did, he felt another chill and then his heart started to slow and race up again. He touched his forehead and sat down on the ground, breathing deep. He felt tired, but worse, the room was spinning a bit. The plants around them seemed to move, and he felt more and more worried that there were creatures watching him behind those green leaves.

"...Rin?" He called out, looking around but feeling too worn to get up. "...Rin? Where are you?" Without a stronger prescription, it was hard to see her among all the blurred shapes.

Rin snorted then took another sip from a pool. She was starting to feel more and more tired. Silvery strands streaked her hair and finally her own vision was starting to go, although only slightly. If it wasn't for the suddenness, she might not have even noticed the change in eyesight at all.

She looked over as someone called out for her. "Melvin?" she got up to look for him.

He heard her voice, but it rippled. Echoed. Bounced around the walls. It sounded as if it was coming again and again now, her voice, but from the water. In the water. Behind the leaves.

He turned to take a sip of water, wanting out of here. He just had to drink and he could go.

His name repeated by her voice but twisted and turned until it growled.

He covered his ears, curling in. She had to be okay, but what if she was never here to begin with? What if she was in another room? What if she was in the water?

Eyes wide, he turned to the nearest pool and reached down into the water. "RIN?!" He called, searching in the water for her.

Rin took a sip of more water, would it lead her to him? She heard his voice again. Why was he screaming? Was he mad at her? Was he attacking - was he being attacked?! She spun around. She could swear she saw him run past. She took chase.

She rounded a corner in search of him. Instead finding more water. Have to get out of this place. Have to find Melvin. Have to keep trying. She found another pool and took yet another sip. Then everything suddenly looked like it was melting. She stared into space with a horrified look on her face.

Evan wasn't quite sure where he was now, but going through this room seemed to be the only way to move forward. He didn't know how close he was to the top, but he certainly wasn't going to go back. This place looked harmless enough--even nice, he supposed--but Evan certainly wasn't going to start taking any chances now.

He skirted the pools, for now, instead intent on finding a way out. There didn't seem to be any--no doors, no windows, not even a crack in the wall--and he finally came across the pillars. "Drink the water and you may enter," he muttered. "Do it or die." His favorite kind of ultimatum. Great.

Evan looked at the pools that dominated the garden. They all looked alike to him, none of them labeled "Drink Me" or "Certain Death Here" the way he'd hoped they would be. With a resigned sigh, he took a knee by the nearest pool, scooped up a handful of water, and drank it. It didn't taste any different than normal water. He paused, waiting for...he didn't even know what. Something to indicate that he was closer to getting out of here.

When nothing happened, he sighed and stood, startling when he saw a stark black outline in the middle of the otherwise serene landscape. "Hell of a time for you to show up," Evan muttered, still upset at his last encounter with the specter of his friend in the dark maze.

Yeah, the dead never do seem to rest where they ought to, do they? Ain't that a b***h?

"Whatever."

Aw, are you still mad about earlier? Someone had to get you moving--and it worked, didn't it?

"Can we do this later? I'm kind of busy."

I can see that. Drink deep, ******** off."

/Who are you talking to??/

You don't see him? He's standing right there!

/See who?/

Evan pointedly ignored both his weapon and his own personal ghost as he moved on to another pool. The water in that one didn't taste any different from the first. Evan was getting annoyed. He didn't like headgames in his day to day life, and he hated them while he was on the clock. Why couldn't anything ever be straightforward? Find monster, kill monster, go home: that should have been it. He stood and dried his hand on his pants, whirling as he saw something run past him out of the corner of his eye.

He had his weapon summoned in a heartbeat as he tried to catch sight of whatever it had been, his breath held as he listened to hear which direction it might have gone in. He finally heard it rustling in the bushes--or so he thought. The soft susurration quickly spread from one set of bushes, to another, to all of them, and from there to every goddamn plant in the room. All of them shaking, hiding something that was going to jump out and get him, any second, any second...

Hadiyya had managed to find her way out of the room with the bottles and into another. This one was larger, a vast palace with colorful pools of water and bordering gardens. Statues stood tall at the centers, drawing the eye, and for a few moments the djinn lost herself in the beauty of it all. Of the places she had been, this one reminded her most of home. It was the architecture, the touches of flora in elegant touches here and there, and of course the water.

Water that called to her, beckoning. She was more than happy to oblige, moving forward to sink down at the edge of the violet pool. Bending, she dipped a hand into that colorful water and lifted it to her lips to sip. It was cool and refreshing, but with every small swallow she could feel a tingling spread through her hands, down her legs.

With a hum she straightened, smiling to herself as she swayed in place for a moment before a soft, content giggle slipped past full lips.

Had it been more than water? It must have been. She felt well and truly intoxicated. Dreamy and lethargic, more so than was natural, even for her. It should have been worrying, but she just couldn't seem to muster up to care for it.

Sin was beyond relieved to escape the Corridors of Time and Madness, both had left her blind in the darkness stumbling about and terrified that she might never escape. She gazed up and around at the beauty of the palace before her and wondered if she was any closer to the agency and more importantly the portal home. She longed to see Rosc again and feel his arms around her; Rosc was her heart and home. The memory of her own voice still taunted her and she tried to suppress her desire to see her boilfriend. She didn’t NEED him, she could handle herself just fine…she simply wanted him he was hers.

She walked along gazing at the ornate designs, this pace was as extravagant as any demon could desire. She paused before a door and looked up at the strange writing, slowly it cleared for her. Blinking she read it and then glanced around warily. Drink the water of the four? She’d learned her lesson about drinking and eating the unknown in Wonderland. Yet it seemed she had little choice…as usual jackdamnit all.

The darkness had rattled her badly as had the voices and she found it had to deal with the fear of what drinking from the pools might do to her. She knew that she was being paranoid but was it really paranoia when there was quite the high probability of something nasty happening? She hadn’t come to Amity paranoid, she had developed her fears, tolerances, and intolerance in her years at school. She took a few deep breaths to try and compose herself, stalling wasn’t going to help her to get home.

With a soft sigh Sin moved down the corridor to the terrace and gazed at the pools trying to choose which to start with.
