Harry's stomach grumbled at that point... rather loudly, in fact. The young man smiled sheepishly and sat down next to Katherine, taking the offered food and starting to chat with her.
Phobius, in contrast, soon finished getting all the feathers out of Hermione's hair, but didn't seem particularly interested in getting her out of his lap, instead sitting with her in comfortable silence.

Phobius considered the question carefully for a moment, then spoke. "Well, first she'll give you the third degree and a background check, make sure you're not closely aligned with Dumbledore - if you were, she'd literally kick you out, but as it is, you'll be fine. Then she'll check to see how much you know about the non-human side of my heritage and give you a few special potions that give a resistance to my Aura of Fear. After that, there'll probably be a hug, a recommendation to not have sex until we've both hit puberty, a warning to scoop out your ovaries with a rusty spoon if you take advantage of me, and then a threat to use a Castration Hex on me if I take advantage of you or get you pregnant - not necessarily in that order. Then she'll probably force you to stay for dinner and possibly lace your food with a few potions to make you resistant to most forms of mind-tampering and/or make absolutely sure you go from "beautiful girl" to "drop-dead sexy woman" once you hit puberty," Phobius answered matter-of-factly. "...I did warn you that she's not exactly your average mother."
Harry blushed, but didn't seem to mind Katherine's clinginess too much, letting his crush snuggle up against him and instinctively wrapping an arm around her.

It was at that point that Confusa came out of the shadows of the infirmary with a letter in her mouth, the cat blinking in puzzlement when she saw that her usual spot in Phobius's lap was taken. After a moment, it did the feline equivalent of a shrug and hopped up onto Hermione's lap, waiting until Phobius had taken the letter before nudging at Hermione's hand, obviously wanting to be petted.
Phobius, meanwhile, opened the letter and gave the contents a quick read. "Speaking of Christmas, apparently Mother wants you three to visit during the break; also, she says, and I quote, 'For Hermione, attendance is mandatory, meaning I will not hesitate to track her down, knock her out, and drag her back to the house if she doesn't give a general idea of when she's going to come over'. Apparently she really wants to meet you." Phobius gave his girlfriend an amused little smirk.
Harry blushed, mind absentmindedly noting that Katherine was even prettier than usual when she smiled.

Harry blinked owlishly (no pun intended) before hesitantly taking the letters like Sorren apparently wanted, checking to see who they were from and whether they were to him (since that would explain why Sorren was handing the letters to him instead of leaving them on Katherine's nightstand) or to Katherine.
Phobius nodded, grabbing some nearby parchment and writing a quick note to the general effect of what Hermione said before handing it to Confusa to deliver; at the moment, however, the cat seemed perfectly happy to lounge in Hermione's lap.

Harry blinked again, but didn't object to Sorren's presence too much... probably because he had some pretty sharp talons.
Confusa's answer was to purr and give Hermione a lazy look that indicated that "now" and "later" were too different things - "later" would be delivery time, "now" was pampering time.

Harry obediently handed over the letters to his crush.
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying this a little myself," Phobius freely admitted.
Confusa just purred happily, obviously agreeing with her pet human as her tail flicked lazily from side to side.

Phobius shrugged. "I don't see any reason why she wouldn't; she'll probably run a background check on them to make sure they aren't associated with Dumbledore, though," he answered, grabbing the letter he'd written earlier and adding a quick P.S. to it with Katherine's request.
"They're muggles - at what point would they have even met Dumbledore?" Harry asked incredulously.
"No idea, but I never claimed Mother was rational when it came to Dumbledore - the only reason he hasn't been mysteriously killed was because I managed to persuade her that we couldn't afford to have the anti-Voldemort faction any more split than it already is, especially with all the pardoned Death Eaters on the loose," Phobius reasoned. "...Besides, he would probably be rather difficult to kill unless she was particularly sneaky about it."
"I can't help but notice that you didn't mention the bit about how murder is wrong," Harry noted warily.
"Guilt isn't one of the emotions that my unique biology's blanked out entirely, but it is one of the rarer emotions for me to feel. That skews my sense of morality quite a bit," was the calm reply. "The fact that the Blacks are a family rather famous for their knack for the Dark Arts probably doesn't help either.
Harry's expression went from wary to outright disturbed (probably because of what the implications of "skewed morality" meant), but he didn't comment, instead turning to Katherine again. "So, er, what's it like, having two dads?" he asked, obviously trying to change the subject.
Phobius, for his part, looked rather amused, but turned to Hermione. "Would you like me to ask Mother if your parents could visit as well?"

Phobius nodded, adding Hermione's request to the letter as well.
"You all must really get along well, huh?" Harry asked, tone containing just a hint of wistful longing. Then again, that was only to be expected - the only family he had didn't like him very much.
