Okay, it took me a LONG while to read all of that (on the 16th page now, whew) but I am a bit confused. What makes a warlock so different from a vampire? Both feed of "energy", correct? I found some of the explanations to be cryptic (and I know you say you can't share much), so I'm still very confused on this. I see your point, but I also am thinking a bit like Amabael, because I can't quite comprehend all of this, mostly because I don't really get the difference between the two.

Could someone please explain this to me? I'm curious, but I don't quite get it.
here we go... Okay "EV" Feed off the energy whereas "Warlocks" horde it. Only to unleash it later in there workings and practices. Some just release it into "the veil". It brings us closer to the line between also. "EV" are like addicts.(A Humans first addiction is Food.) We are like Serial killers. Occasionally it gets out of hand but we are always happy with the end result...

So...the Warlock is more....sadistic, then? (I'm not at all trying to be rude, I hope I don't come off as so.) Because I know you can accidentally be a bit of an EV sometimes, like when you are really depressed, or whatever--but that's different altogether, so we won't get into that.

So let me see if I got this right:

The warlock steals and keeps the energy, and then unleases it to achieve their means? (I would assume this would be negative actions.) "The veil" being the line between two worlds--life and afterlife, basically--, right? As for the serial killer thing.... Would this be soul-killing, or direct physical-killing? (I know one can lead to the other, but I mean directly)

And, could a serious "black" magic practitioner be a warlock, if the intent is very similar? If not, what if these people used techniques like the EV do to gain the energy, but use it as warlocks do? Would they be considered warlocks?

"sweat" I'm really sorry about all these questions, I just want to know where this is coming from, so to speak. I don't need to know everything, I just want to understand the "criteria" if you will--that is to say, I want to know WHAT the warlock is, and if these other things I have mentioned are other terms for it...yeah...

In terms of an energy vampire not meaning to be such, it's very true. --and the addict is a very good analogy for it. Even if one tries to fight it, they'll find the craving in the back of their mind. Many are weak, thinking themselves to be something of a god with their ability to drain energy, but they're quite mistaken...
Again, headache...I'll explain more when I feel...err...safer about it...

Things that are negative to some are seen as positive by others. Serial Killer was a metaphor. Black magic practioners could try to horde the power if they learned how. This would make there spells and what not be as if cast by many instead of one. The power of a coven is stronger cause many work towards the same goal. So if an individual takes the Energy from many and pours it into one constant it is the same effect. I also dont think EV that drained energy and poured into to there works could be considered warlocks cause the energy they drain is untainted by the emotional abuse the mind, body, and spirit endure when a warlock drains the power. Ever seen some one after they have been raped or beaten by someone they trust? They end "emotionally scarred" This is the effect of the warlock also. EV I do not think have that effect on others...

Actually, many become addicted to that aural touch of a psychic vampire. "Victims" are often willing as it's entirely aural, and not abusive in the least. To be honest, they find it quite pleasurable...perhaps where the sexual portion of vampire lore has come from...

So, a well-trained or proficient black magic practitioner could be called a warlock?

dandelyon: I know lots of people that like getting their necks bitten....
....and I suppose it would depend on the skill of the vampire, and/or if people knew they were being preyed upon. It is draining for the victim, though. Addictions are kind interesting in that needy-obsession they cause, though.

Interesting, I am learning what others consider to be warlocks, and this was A good idea to join the guild for that. Anyway, Lozt, What did you mean by WE?
You are one of them yourself, perhaps? stare

read through the first few pages of this thread you will come to understand why I say we. All beings only know what they are taught, and haunted by what they need before they know. Like an EV who does not know what they are cant figure out why they are overwhelmed in large crowds and depressed when alone for to long... Warlocks are Vile things in all respects and NO a dark practioner would have to know how to harvest someones sense of being as it were in order to achieve the role...

I meant Energy Vampire. Anyway, it seems you paid no attention to the earlier posts, I made some of them. 3nodding As it stands, I have known what an Energy vampire is, it had just been so long that I was unsure. It is good to see that I still remember.

So it's the "druids are pagans but not all pagans are druids" thing, then? Warlocks practice dark magic but not all dark magic practitioners are warlocks? Am I remotely correct?
