The longer he spoke, the more her resolve to be stubborn weakened. In some aspects he was right, but the fact remained that when this started, she had tried to be civil. She tried to reason; it didn't work. She could only try for so long before she gave up with words and merely waited for the inevitable before fighting back.
The mention of the assistant made her tense, her thoughts immediately shifting to the parcel she had hidden away in her room. They...they were piecing him back together? How?! She'd been there when the body exploded...that was like trying to recreate a crushed sandcastle grain by grain! Dread filled her throat, and suddenly she felt like she was going to be sick. They were piecing Stacey back together...and she was one of the ones that urged for his death. It was enough to make her glance at Israfel, suddenly worried over how loyal he was to his own faction.
"I didn't get anything from Medea." Amrita replied quietly, trying to sound as though she wasn't worried in the slightest. The question today seemed harmless enough to answer. The only thing she had gotten recently came in a box in a hidden locker room. That didn't come from Medea, so how was she supposed to know if that was what he was looking for?

Keeping her arms folded, Mei listened without interrupting the hunter, to everything he had to say. There was a lot of truth to what he said, but she had never once heard anything about a hunter being tortured at their school. When did that happen, and by who? Jack, there really was a lot going on around her that she was just so oblivious too.
She had no idea how to answer his question. Not when she had no idea what 'gift' it was he was talking about. Unless he meant the trance session they had attended. Was that what he wanted to know about? Until she knew 'what' he was referring too, she wasn't going to say anything. And if it wasn't the trance, then she had no knowledge of this gift.

"...I'm sorry." It was a tiny remark, as the siren's wings folded around him, curling up slightly. "Killing is..." A small shudder passed through him. "I'm sorry."
Looking up, his head tilted slightly the only thing he could the think that Medea gave them- "We did a trance thing. We had to piggy back on memories." He twitched before muttering. "Don't want Desidero memories."

Civil? Civil when...when they turned those from Halloween into weapons? It was confusing to the mantodae how confused the hunter seem to be. That he thought that they were antagonizing when his first introduction to the hunters were when they kidnapped a student, lead them on a chase, and then trapped them in nets. He knew nothing about the assistant that they were talking about, so the reference was lost on him other than to add more confusion.
There were options, but he did not trust them. Or...six days. Confined for six days and asked questions. Maybe it would be questions like Miss Sasha asked, where he would just answer them how he wanted to. Answer the questions like he would answer a ghoul, saying what he wanted to say and hiding the rest. Give enough that he could be safe but save the most important information.
As for a gift...he frowned, eyebrows knitted in concentration. "The High Priestess of the Horsemen," not the High Priestess he had grown up with "would have no reason to give me anything."

There was no reaction as if the students had answered correctly, though perhaps his intention was not the actual answer.
Caelius kept a fairly neutral expression still. "We have no interest of keeping you longer than the scheduled days. If you do insist on prolonging your stay then I will be straightforward with you. We are looking at this point only for volunteers, out of your own consent and agreement. The conditions are simple, you will get to choose anyone on this island to accompany you, and consequently you will be given a clearer picture of what we do here. This is an option and you have five more days to consider such." His tone was informative, at best. "That means you choose out of your own accord to join us."
There was a small beep, and then a reflex reaction as he checked his cell phone, snapping it shut with a small click audible even through the microphone.
"Back in the incident there were over twenty of you, and yet, only six of you find yourselves here. This was not by any stretch of the imagination, coincidence. You were chosen to be here, by myself perhaps, or by others. Think of this carefully, you have an advantage the others do not, you can see and observe us. A large piece to the fabled puzzle of Hunters I'm sure."
The Death lead said nothing else, though they did take a second to simply stand there and reply to the text: perhaps this was an opportunity or just a chance to wait out the storm.

So just six days and he would be free, free to find a way home if they did not supply one. Acting as if them staying longer would be something that they might demand. Giving them a choice. A chance to explore the island but is so was just the acceptance of exploration agreeing to...volunteer?
He spoke of an incident, obviously the event at the lake. And now he was confirming that it was just them. They were the only six. Alexander was safe. Miss Danny was safe. A weight he had not realized had still been present seemed to vanish. He did not have to worry about them now. His choices might affect them, but not their health.
But why him? Why was he...chosen? The word meant something to him under normal circumstances, but not it seemed to be back to haunt him. The hunters had wanted him here, or at least one did. They wanted him to take a look around their facility, to make a decision. One that he was not sure about, but there were a few ideas. But...a choice? To have this offered as a choice?
"Excuse me sir. If we...if we decide to be accompanied around to view the island is that the decision to join? Or may we view the island before a decision is made?" That was important. He had only seen a small glimpse of the isle, a training ground. The exact sort of place that could manage to pique his interest.

Blue eyes watched Caelius. This was very different than the man he'd met a year before. Earwings twitched as he explained more than he had to. The siren looked to the other pausing over Amrita. She was the one he'd knew since he's enrolled. She was also someone who seemed against violence. Would she want to stay? He was unsure of the others as well, shuffling awkwardly in his seat he listened and considered the options. Twenty possibilities, only six present. The hunter had no reason to lie to them, and pointing out numbers helped ease the siren's thoughts. No one else had been caught. They needn't worry. If they had been caught at all. Hard to say.
Cocking is head one way then another, the siren considered it. It didn't take long. He wanted to find answers and possibly find was way to coexist. "Okay." He smiled, not quite sure but willing. "Can I be shown?"

Amphi too latched on the idea that there was only six of them, Lizzy, Danny, Roch and Thanatos were all safe.
"We were brought here on purpose?!?!" Amphi stood up again, blinking. When Arcana had been taken, hadn't they just inmasseded the whole student class? Save for some surviours??!
"Why would you choose us?" Amphi was the FARTHEST of being a students that would warrant human attention!
She was just so confused. Already she had grown to like one of the hunters, easily attached to the idea that there was more like them. And Caelius was right, this would be a way to study the humans after all...Thats what Arcana had been about, A DETH member intent on human communication and understanding.
But Roch's face came back to her, telling her not to get knee deep and sink any farther. She had five days to think about....Five days to wonder if she could give up being a student to learn more about humans?
Cue a lot of internal struggling....

Join them? Heh, what a joke..
They were chosen out of everyone? Or did their trap fail on them and they only got away with what they could and are now just saying what might appeal to their interest? It was hard to tell this hunter was lying or not, and she had no reason to trust him yet.
The idea of exploring the island was of some interest her. But like Yin, she wanted to explore it before agreeing to anything, and that was to say if she would agree to it. It would take a hell of a lot to convince her to betray her kind. And thinking of it know, she wouldn't be able to do it. She had too many ties to her life at Amityville. Her friends, her family, and Bul. She wouldn't do that to them. Not ever.
However, if there was any useful information about the island that she could bring back to Amityville, it could be extremely helpful in any future struggles with these white coats. But that could also result in a complete waste of time.
Then there was the option to go home after six days of questioning. She didn't know this hunter, aside from the fact that he was one of the leads. How would she know his word was good for anything? Sure, he said that they would be released after being questioned. But what was to say he wouldn't go back on his word?
Jack dammit! This sucked! She hated not knowing the outcome of things. For now, she would wait on the answer of the hunter, and discuss things further with the others before deciding anything.

An option to stay on a more permanent basis. He really wasn't sure what to make of it at all. It had to be something to do with the weapons perhaps. His curiosity was piqued however, he wanted to know everything he could possibly find out about this place, about this world.
The fact they were chosen, he found interesting as well. What traits would they have looked for? A transcendent perception of what was really going on? Gullibility? He couldn't be sure. He simply knew he was gathering information for the most comprehensive report ever written on the hunters. And he was going to refuse to share it with anyone who was hostile towards their cause.
6 days was nothing really, he could happily live here for that long, it was comfortable and provided they got fed sufficiently, it would be all right. Perhaps he'd even get some more time with Rin.
"That's a fair offer." was all he said. "I'm interested to see whatever you are willing to show us."

...Six were chosen?
Who would choose her? Caelius knew who she was from the start; he made that much clear when he announced her name and what she had been proud of shortly before stabbing Riley. Was that why she was there? Because she was always there?
Both Israfel and Zar's responses blindsided her, effectively stopping any and all thoughts on her own answer.
"...Don't just agree to it!" Amrita gasped, looking as shocked as she sounded at how easy Israfel agreed to join the Hunters. "You don't know what it entails!" With that she turned back to the screen, fully intending to parrot Yin.
"Can we see what joining you entails, before agreeing to it?"

The cell phone snapped closed again. Despite the eye contact, it almost felt, even through the glass, that the Death lead was looking through and not actually at them, even when they addressed questions all relayed in earnest. To him it was simply a repeat a rehearsal played out time after time with only set path. Black and white. A matter of time.
For them, for the students, they always saw something else. It was unique to them as well, the same way that Hunter candidates grabbed at any given chance the opportunity to be something else. Hope. Possibility. A different future. A choice. The chance to be something else. Even doubt and uncertainty. The options were as far as the stretch of imagination that came along with the candidate.
"You have five more days to think yourself of what purpose means." He glanced over in Israfel's general direction as the siren spoke up, neither surprised nor pleased. Mechanical. "A request." It was said sharper than normal, though the Death lead fluidly readjusted their tone. "If you are willing to be shown, you may request anyone you have met to join you." A walking buddy, was perhaps the unspoken word. Or maybe a partner.

Jack, this was going nowhere. She was surprised to see how willing some of the students were to join the hunters. "Just like that?" Shaking her head, she let her hands fall to her sides. "Sorry. Unless I know what it is I'm getting myself into, I'm not saying or doing anything for you or your kind." He could shove his offer. Chosen ones? What a load of minipet s**t..

"I must agree with Miss Mei, I would require more information." More information to be duly tempted by the hunter's words. Six days of questions was doable. And well, there was only one way he had seen those of Halloween. He had somehow protected Alexander from that. He had been chosen, the zomboil not. But he would just take his 6 days and go back. No reason to worry over a fate that was not his.
