"I'm sorry about that Ms. Lana." Matthew sighed placing his hands in his pockets. "Look I love this town. The people in it are very kind and wonderful, even as changed monsters. I just want to find a way to help them out..if there isn't a cure then that's alright. I know you probably don't understand.." he said turning away from her a little, a light wind picking up and tossing his long golden hair about.
"I'm an orphan, I never really had a place to call my own. I'm somewhat of a "Free Spirit" as some would say, yet out of all the places I've been to this town has always been warm and welcoming. Don't really talk about life being unfair because someone like you has probably not know what it's been like laying outside shivering and wondering if you'll ever get something to eat. How people just pass you by because you're worthless to them. I don't understand people sometimes.." he chuckled.
"Sure I was shocked when I saw people that I once knew in different shape or form, but I could still see the gentleness in their eyes. Don't think I'm complaining either, I've outgrown being alone. I became a Bard so that I could bring happiness to people, so that no matter what they could perk up with a melody or a rhyme. Life IS unfair..but why just accept things when there could be a possibility for change? Or finding an alternate direction that leads to happiness?" he said in a meloncholy tone.

Lana had never really gotten angry before. Not really angry. Sure a tantrum here or there, but not like this. It was like she just snapped. She closed Jessie's door and walked back down to stand and glare at Matthew. her almost black eyes bored into him. She waited as he finished sharing his story. She could understand it and she didn't blame him. But how could he dare say she didn't know anything about hardship because she had a good life. Her life has sucked for 8 years now. "I'm glad you think so highly of this. But appartently you haven't seen all of it. I know very well how hard life is to some people. At least you found some kind of happiness! I've been dying to leave this village for a long time. My life has now gotten worse sense I woke up like this!" she gestered to herself. "Now I have no real idea what's ahead of me." she said. Tears were gathering in her eyes and she furiously brushed them way. "So don't talk to me about happy endings. They're all fairy tales." With that she stormed off as fast as she could without flat out running. She didn't think she could manage that.

Matthew sighed chasing after her he gently grabbed her arm. "Look I don't have an understanding how your life was or is. I don't know how you feel changing into whatever you're going to change into. I probably never will. All this time I've been trying to be nice to you but failed miserably." he sighed letting go.
"Don't think you're not preatty because you are. In fact, you might be changing into a siren or a mermaid for all you know. Weather or not you want to believe it. YOU are a fairy tale Lana! Here I was glad to finally meet someone who hadn't completely changed yet..so I can understand the situation better but..GAH! You're so frustrating! All this time you've been pulling me in, then pushing me away! What the heck do you want? I didn't say my life was full of happiness. Do you I THINK I like living the way I do? I'm just a lonely fool who travels the world. My life isn't happy but I TRY to find some things to make it happy!" he shouted back.

Lana turned her head away from him so she didn't see the tears streaking her face again. But as he continued she sighed, anger gone. She was just tired. Tired and sad. She sniffled wiping her face. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you. Too many years of pent up emotions I guess." she said. "I just... I'm getting used to this. After I cleaned the yard of rocks yesterday I got tired and fell asleep. Next thing I know I'm waking up to my father in one of his rages, yelling that he knew it all along. That I was a monster or something and not really his daughter. I expect things like that from him, but... it still effects me." she took a deep breath. "I caught my appearance in the mirror. I used to have dark skin... And black hair.... Now I'm deathly pale with colorful hair...." she chuckled bitterly. "I was scared. of this change and my father's furry. So I ran. I'm happy I found Jessie and Mary. At least now I have a place to stay." she wiped her face again. "I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to take it out on you. I really didn't mean too."

"Hey..." Matthew said looking downwards. Guilt washed over him like a large cold ocean tide. "Uruhh...this is my fault. I forced that pain out of you and for that I'm sorry Lana." he said genly wiping a tear from her face. Giving her a tender smile he placed a hand upon her cheek.
"I promise you that I won't chase you away. You have a beautiful singing voice..I"m just trying to be your friend here. Obviously your father doesn't see the beautiful soul within you Lana...you're not a monster and no matter how much you change..you're still You. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise!" he said removing his hand from her cheek and turned to go. It was getting late and he didn't really want to keep her. Still his heart sank a little.
Pulling out his guitar Matthew began to play a deep sad song, while at the time was sad but soothing. She didn't know it but there was tears in his eyes. What kind of fool says that about his beautiful daughter? That's terrible...I think I'll need to keep my mouth shut more often. Poor girl..if only there was something I could do. he thought with a sigh not relizing he was sitting on the ground.

Lana wiped her eyes and watched him go. He'd been so nice. Noone had ever send anything like that to her. She sighed and walked after Matthew. "You don't have to go. Jessie will take you in too... I think." she flinched. She didn't know that for sure but she didn't want him to go. "You don't have to feel sorry for me. My father has been that way since Mom and my brother died years ago. Perhaps it was best to get away from him. It was long past time." she said, kneeling in front of him. She might have to take his advice and start thinking positive. "Come on. I don't think niether of us such be alone." she said. She stared to get up but found it a little difficult because of her added weight. She grunted trying to get back on her feet

Matthew smiled standing and gently helping her up, not touching her belly of course. "You alright? Keep in mind of the child, or children, inside." he said looking at her stomach. "I bet just even being pregnant is a shock. Is that a side effect of the transformations because I noticed a few of the female, and some male, monsters pregnant. Heck I was being chased by a pregnant harpy today." he chuckled a little. "Sorry the thought of being chased by a pregnant harpy mused me."

Lana chuckled too. "I can imagine." She looked down at her distended belly rubbing it as her little one kicked. He(or she) seemed to be a little restless. Then her stomach growled.... She chuckled. "Time to eat something, hmm?" she whispered to it. "I must admit, as shocking as this is, it's the most normal of these... changes. I'm actually more upset that it's going so fast." she said trustfully. Lana was surprised at how foreward she was becoming. Most of the time she was timid and docile. "Come on. I'm hungry." She grabbed his hand and lead him into Jessie's. She saw Jason again and waved for him to come.

"Alright, who else needs somewhere to sleep? I only have so much room to give." Jessie said seeing Matthew and Jason follow Lana in. "Maybe I ought to start charging rent at this rate." she joked with a small chuckle as she held her belly, ignoring whatever reaction the boys might have to her four arms, wings, blue gray skin, and white hair.

As Matthew was led into the house he jumped back in shock and surprise when he saw Jessie. "Wow it's a woman with four arms and wings!" He said then blushed a bit. "O-Oh pardon my rudness Ms." he said politely bowing.
"If you don't have the room then I'm fine with the floor. I'm sorry for being such a burden." he said then looked at Lana. "Give me a sec." he nodded before returning to Jessie.
"Hmmm..your eyes...you seem familiar?" He said thinking. "Wait..you aren't that Huntress that people were commenting about. Well I've only heard rumors. Anyway I appreciate your kindness, my name is Matthew. If you need I can help cook. I may not look it but I can cook some. In fact..."
Giving another polite bow he turned to Lana again. "Would you like me to cook you something?" he asked blushing a little. "I'm sorry this transformation is going so fast for you..though maybe it's a good boon. I mean you probably would be even more freaked out if it took it's time." he said honestly.
He didn't know what Jason would think or do. Yet the man didn't seem very interested or friendly towards the monster transformes citizens in the village.

"I'm surprised you could tell!" Jessie said with a modest chuckle. "They weren't this yellow before, but yep, that's me. Or at least I was. I don't think I'll be doing anything quite so extreme as hunting for a while." she said as she looked down at her belly and rubbed it lovingly. "Though I can still cook just fine; I'm pregnant, not crippled! Hell, I've even got the extra arms for added efficiency!"

Lana chuckled at Jessie's reaction. She was relieved the two men didn't seem to freak too much. She sat down tired again. She seemed to tire easily lately. "Well however cooks the food, I'll be happy to eat it. I haven't eaten anything since this morning." she said, laughing nervously as her stomach rumbled again.

Matthew chuckled some. "I know, I figured as much with those arms. Still my services are here if you need them." He smiled. She was just as strong willed as people said, but that was fine. He had once heard that being a Hunter was hard work.
"Well I've learned to read eyes. Yours just give off a gentle sturdy strength. Plus the way you carry yourself..now many people are that poised. I've heard that Hunters are usually always ready for a challenge. Mind you, you're the first Hunter I've met. Most of them were either male or female Warriors, Mages, or...well Warriors." he laughed. "No one really is into Bards, though I don't mind the profession myself. Anyway, enough talk about silly things. I take it you're just as surprised or well more or less comfortable with the changes now? Have you tried to fly yet? Your wings are so...huge!"
Mathew was just so curious. At leat Lana and Jessie hadn't thought of eating or killing him yet. He wondered if Lana would be still as sweet as she was when her transformation was complete. Hopefully they would get some more time to get to know one another better.

"I'm more or less used to it now, I just hope I'm done changing. And I had taken a little fly around town to see how bad things were for everyone else." Jessie said as she moved into the kitchen. "Alright, there's a lot of people here to be cooking for, so if you have any requests, speak now."

Lana piped up. "Something hardy and lots of it!" she suggested grinned. "It can be anything." Lana wasn't a pick eater. She ate almost anything. Lana went silent for a second, then smiled sheepishly. "Um... Matt, do you mind getting me a glass of water while we're waiting." she blushed. She seemed to be asking that question way too much lately. Soon the glass would probably be glued to her hand.
