LilChibiusa A witch's spell might work, but we'd have to figure out how to make that fit with problems because of lack of dreamers. Actually, having a good antagonist might not be such a bad idea! biggrin Maybe not too terribly dark... Remember there's a nightmare room. lol Because of the lack of dreamers who likely played the heros of such fantasies villian type characters have been able to run amuck and cause more havoc than usual. The witch could be jealous of the Dream Queen and seek to claim the realm and King as her own. (Or Wizard and have it be the Queen he seeks) Throwing power and peace out of whack. Dragons and Ogres running amuck...The only seemingly untouched place is the castle and even it seems a bit well warped. However the inhabitants for the most part seem oblivious to the troubles. The roses wilting, the ever growing fog and disappearance of people and locatiosn should be obvious signs some evil forces are at hand in the dream land.... But sadly all are blinded due to the masks they are wearing. Last they recall a Masquerade Ball was being held and there was a wonderful illusionist who performed the most wonderful of tricks. The Illusionist of course was the Witch in disguise and was placing them all under a spell. Those not affected or attending for one reason or another would be leading a type of "Save the Realm" campaign in the role-play. For a crossover the Witch could send the King or Queen to the Nightmare Realm or what have you....

Ink! You just gave me a brilliant idea!
Nothingness. Overpowering nothingness. In this void the manifestations of Gaian dreamers were not to be found. This very same nothingness morphed and changed and eventually took upon a form so ghastly that its very non-existence became overpowering. The grim figure that emerged in the form of a lady of glass, cold, transparent, and utterly empty. She wandered the fields of the realm, turning happy green fields into empty crystals. Her presence stole the heat from the air, not that it warmed her. She was a fearsome creature, though saw her for more than a brief moment at a time. And, each time she appeared, something precious would be lost.
Then, the Gaians can fill this empty lady with stories and dreams until she becomes a real princess!

I like what I am reading so far...though we should solidify some of our changes. I don't see why our characters have to change too much...maybe just their motivations. Sorry I haven't been able to contribute lately...Anyway back to plot discussion...so our theme is high fantasy right? And we want to have the ball be the highlight of our 3 days, correct?
I like the idea of the lady and the people have to fill her with dreams until she becomes real but how are they going to do that?
I agree with ink that since we are supposed to be high fantasy there should be more creatures.
As far as miniplots/games goings on goes we could have the gate of some kind of enclosure disappear into nothingness and let loose a whole bunch of critters that run around causing issues.
I always liked the idea of the queen going missing...when is the actual "ball"/main day supposed to be?

We're still working on that, actually. blaugh
I'm just thinking, "I'm going missing and animals are wreaking havoc? Hmm... Somehow this sounds a lot like last time!" xd I disappeared to the Wrath room for a while, and bunnies terrorized the guests, so those are my thoughts anyway.

Hey, if you're a fan of Phyllis A. Whitney's books, you basically read the same story over and over and over and over again, albeit with different characters and different locales...and yet they're still very enjoyable books! xd At least, I like them. ♥

When a formula work, then it works! XD I do understand not wanting to make it too formulaic...so...how else can we incite the guests to take action? What could our catalyst be? Kidnapping? Maybe you and the king have a child and the child goes missing...or scratch you going missing and we just have a witch/sorcerer attacking and letting loose all kinds of creatures that the people have to battle and then they have to defeat the badguy AND get back the items to restore the memories of the people....

Yes, but if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, it becomes boring and stagnant.
I was thinking, why don't we have the Queen become "ill"? She could be the one that turns to glass unless we save her.

Hmm...I don't remember if this suggestion was mentioned or not, but maybe the fading and stuff could also change the cast's behavior. Not making them behave like humans in the "real" world, as was bandied about before, but just making them go bat poo crazy and even become dangerous, and the guests have to restore the realm in order to save the characters.
I dunno, y'all...I'm kind of poo at coming up with plot points! blaugh

broken_bleeding_angel Yes, but if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, it becomes boring and stagnant. I was thinking, why don't we have the Queen become "ill"? She could be the one that turns to glass unless we save her. And the reason would be because the roses are dying. The dew drops they produce, when still wet, is the drink that sustains the creatures of our realm so they can exists. Without it they turn to glass, losing pieces of themselves as they change. Without the dew they cannot make the wine of the Gods, and slowly begin to lose themselves. The Queen had been taking less and less for herself, so that her loved ones would have plenty, sacrificing herself for them.
