Sain Ladies how about a lovely dinner? Sain was still in a little bit of shock of what all just happen. His mouth was wide open and there was fear still in his eyes. He would put the Hawk King on his people to avoid list, if he knew the man's name. In all that fear he didn't catch that the man's name was Tibarn.
At the mention of food, Sain's stomach growled. He chuckled a little bit. "Guess I am a little hungry. I'm sure Homeros is too." Sain pets his horse when he mentioned him. "Hope you can find a good place to eat, with lots of woman so I can show them the Sain charm." There was a smile and a wink as he said that last bit. After all I am a noble knight of Caelin!

I ain't forgettin' anyone, and I also ain't regrettin' anything.x - [Leon] - x
”Now, now, sir Sain, ya went an’ got into enough trouble already.” Leon told him, wagging his pointer finger at the green-armored knight. ”I’ve got a reputation to think about!” he added. And so far, Leon had to toil at living up to that reputation. Sometimes being in charge wasn’t always the best.
”Anyway, I can’t expect ya to know where to go in this big, fair city of ours… so when our relief comes, I don’t want either you or Saifer wanderin’.” Leon advised, taking a look around at the other booths for a moment, just to take his eyes off of all the paperwork. That was another thing he couldn’t stand. Ever since his rise in rank, the amount of reading and writing he had to do nearly tripled. It was a good thing he was well-practiced.
After taking in the sights and colors of Eyris that were around him, Leon put his eyes right back on the black and white. First he looked over Saifer’s form, and then Sain’s. ”Yer writing’s almost as good as mine, I’m impressed.” The watch’s captain stated with a sincere grin. ”I could use a little assistance with a few things in the office, but that will come much, much later. For today I’ll just be showin’ ya the watch house. I’m not sure if I’ll have to give a full tour of Eyris, but I know the guild’s always helpful with that sorta thing.” x - [Watch Captain] - x
We gotta carry on, ya know? It's what they woulda wanted!

Saifer Griimro Saifer sighed, despite Leon's upbeat endorsement of this Watch House that would hopefully be a place of...well, more than just temporary housing. He'd sort of got sidetracked and forgot to ask Sain about Elibe, but figured that he could just bring it up later when the dinner Leon had promised was set for them.
Now resolute in simply asking about it later, the young thief started to fidget and nervously glance around in his seated position. There were two things that were bothering him...the fact that he wasn't used to staying in one place too long and the fear behind encountering another one of the beast-people. He had a feeling that those that were like the bird-man had rather short fuses and plenty of aggression to spare. "So...uh. When does this relief come?" he asked, feeling rather awkward.

Leon took the initiative to look up from his paperwork now. ”Ah, there they are!” Leon exclaimed, just in time to answer Saifer’s question. Another Watch officer wearing the insignia saluted the Captain, and then took his post with haste. The briefing wasn’t too long to give. There were a few new members already, and that was all. ”I hope the new ranks will stay, after what’s happened to the others in the war…” Leon thought as he looked back one more time at the officer who took his place.
He caught himself before getting too lost in his thoughts. If he was quiet any longer, the others would start to know something was up. Leon played it off with a smile, like he always did. A smile could hide anything. ”Beautiful weather, ain’t it? Come on, don’t fall behind! The city’s busy this time of the day!” Leon called out to two of the newest members of his ranks, signaling them over.
Leon took a better look at Sain’s steed now. Homeros looked just as hardy as his own war horse, and just as proud. ”Have ya had that horse long, Sain? He’s followin’ ya without makin’ a fuss! I remember mine when we first got into the city. Anri was spooked as ever! I lived…well, out in the country, so he wasn’t used to all this noise. Anyway, we have some stables up at our place, ya know? I’m sure he’ll be fine his first night.”
Leon’s footsteps stopped when he saw a rather familiar sign. Although this café was relatively new, he came to stop by every once in a while. Things weren’t going so good for the owners from what he could tell, but no one could notice that from the outside. ”Saifer, Sain! Welcome to one of Eyris’s greatest restaurants, the Hostess Club! The owners must be out at a booth but there’s still a few good cooks and waitresses to keep things goin’. I’ll get us a table, if you’ll wait a minute.”
It wasn’t surprising to get a table so quickly. The eats here were good, but business was still slow. Leon sighed as he looked around the setting for a moment. It was kind of a downer to see such a fine establishment without a lot of company. Taking a look at the menu, he decided to at least make his contribution to the place. He was going to order the tea with a little lemon for sure, and another of his favorite dishes that caught his eye. ”Hey, ya should really try the mutton.” he suggested. ”It’s delicious! Even if ya never had it before, I think you’d both like it.” x - [Watch Captain] - x
We gotta carry on, ya know? It's what they woulda wanted! [Here's a picture I found of mutton]

"Oh. I do apologize. I thought you would have a map. It is hard to believe that they didn't give you a map." Valerick sighed and shrugged his shoulders. He looked back over the fair and sighed. Even through the course of the last several minutes, no one else had shown up. They needed more people if the guard was going to return to its full power again. They couldn't handle something like they went through again with the people they had.

Sain Ladies how about a lovely dinner? "Yeah it is." Sain said softly. He had a frown once again. He missed Elibe and the memories came rushing back to him. Leon's voice managed to snap him back to reality. "Uh...yeah it is." He followed the captain quietly.
Leon then mentioned Homeros. "Well I've had him for a while now. Where I was trained they make sure the knights and mounts were training together. Homeros is also use to crowds."
As the trio got to the Hostess Club, Sain noticed the sign. 'Hostess Club' got the man's attention. Hostess meant ladies, and ladies means Sain needs to try to work his charm for this to work. He tied Homeros to a post and got inside. As he got to a table he didn't really see any charming ladies yet, but he knew that was going to change with time. So while he was waiting for the lovely lady to show up he looked at the menu, wondering what he was going to eat. After all I am a noble knight of Caelin!

Trotting down the cobblestone street of Eyris was a woman riding on her horse. From the look of her appearance, she looked like a swordsmaster. However, even without her armor and shield, few people can recognized her face.
It had been ages since Isadora had set foot in Eyris. It felt like it was yesterday when the city was under attacked by Sentria and Mordache despite how quickly the city were reconstructing and recovering. Oh, if only she could recover as quickly as Eyris.
For the past months, Isadora had resigned her position as crew and resided in the outskirt of Tharis, a town that was few miles from Eyris. The paladin knew it was selfish of her to resign, but she hoped that her crew would understand her situation. It was too much emotional and morally distress for her after what the ruthless Rogvald did to her. If she were to stay in Eyris, it would make it difficult for the paladin to recovery.
So away from the capital she did. And after residing in Tharis, Isadora began her recovery. She had visited the church couple of times to help build her morality, spiritual, and confidence back. She met some villagers in Tharis and had conversation about their everyday lives, letting her ease to relax without stressing about what happened in the past. And from time to time, she had written letters to her friends, both from Eyris and Estarcia, about her well being.
Now feeling recovered, she decided to head back to Eyris with a fresh new start. She could ask Nino for her job back, but she felt that now wasn't the time. She felt she was not ready to become crew again just like how she was not ready to become captain of the guild when Rogvald was in charge. She needed to start a new beginning for her. A fresh start. Something where she had to work her way from the bottom and earn her way to the top. But where to begin?
Although she wasn't ready to become crew again, her sense of duty as a knight was still strong, just as she always was when she was a child. Her sense of protecting the people and honoring her country was still in her blood. Perhaps she could ask Vaida if she could become a guardwoman. Or perhaps ask Leon if she could become a Watchwoman. After all, she was familiar of how Learanian trained their people. And she could travel to Estarcia to-
Growl......
Isadora looked down at her stomach. Goodness, she had forgotten that she skipped breakfast when she travel to Eyris. It was no wonder her stomach was hungry while she was in deep thoughts. Perhaps it was time for the paladin to get something to eat. And what better way to begin than to eat at the Hostess Club. It had been ages since she ate there.
"Come on Tuomas, let's get something to eat." Isadora spoke while she nudged her horse. As she headed her way to the Hostess Club, she wondered how well the business had been after the battle. Hopefully, the food and drinks were still the same. She enjoyed their meals.
When she reached the Hostess Club, she dismounted. But before she could tie the reins to the post, she heard her horse gave a friendly neigh. Isadora looked around to see her horse greeting with the other horses. She recognized Leon's horse. So Leon was here. It had been ages since she last seen him. Maybe she could meet up with him and chat. However, the horse next to Leon's looked familiar.
There was something strange about that horse. It looked familiar but she couldn't place her finger where. She wasn't quite sure why that horse looked familiar to her. She hadn't seen that type of horse in Eyris when she was around. But then again, it could be some newcomer's horse. After all, they came and went as they pleased. However, it was strange that a certain horse looked familiar to her. Hmm.... Oh well.
After tying the reins to the post, Isadora gave a gentle pat on Tuomas' nose and entered the Hostess Club.

Saifer Saifer shambled along beside Leon, presumably lost in thought. Really, though, he was excited at the prospect of a proper meal. Understandably, the thief had never gotten much in the way of meat and 'upper-class' restaurant food. He didn't notice Leon's pause at all, more concerned with himself than anyone else. "...Mhm..." mumbled Saifer in response to Leon, hardly even listening. He was far less attentive now that they weren't sitting down and tolerating each other's presence.
Arriving at the 'Hostess Club' (what did that mean?), Saifer took a seat when prompted and started fidgeting as if he were right back at the Watch table. "Yeah. Whatever is fine," replied Saifer, not particularly hung up over what fancy dish they were going to get. Now glancing over at the seated Sain, he wondered if this would be the best time to bring up the topic from earlier. "...You said Elibe earlier, didn't you?" said the thief, speaking suddenly to the odd knight.

A young man clad in a dark brown cloak walked on the bustling streets of Eyris. It had been a while since he was here last, though it was very briefly. His swords were in poor condition due to overuse. He'd tried in vain to keep them maintained but over use had destroyed them all. The only sword he had left was the one that was given to him by the "King" of Daein. That sword was rarely used. The brown headed swordsman yawned, as for him, he had traveled mostly on foot and was tired.
He heard his stomach rumble, he was hungry. After several blocks, he arrived at the Hostess Club. He entered and found a empty seat and table. Sitting down he closed his eyes. Over the time he was in this mysterious new world, he had made a name for himself killing bandits wherever he went. This gave him much pocket money to spend/save. In fact, he was starting to accumulate a little too much. He decided he would visit a blacksmith to got a customized sword made for him, after food of course.

Sain Ladies how about a lovely dinner? Sain looked up from the menu at looked at the thief. "Yeah I did say I was from Elibe. Why do you ask?" this made the paladin curious. Why would he ask about that, unless, "Wait you're from Elibe aren't you?"
Before he got his answer though, Sain saw a woman walk into the Hostess Club. Before he got up and started to charm her, he got a look at the woman and froze. "I know her from somewhere, but where?" His mind started to think about the woman who came in and who she was. After all I am a noble knight of Caelin!

Zeiss decided to make his leave from the barracks to head back to the guard booth. While Alex was still there he could at least take over for a while. Just what he didn't expect was that there would be a few other people there still. Huh, looks like things picked up while I was gone. But I guess we are still getting new recruits. The wyvern rider thought to himself as he walked over to Alex and tapped his shoulder.
"Need a break?" He asked once he got his attention. "Sorry for leaving before but figured it would be good to watch over the other group." He said, keeping that as his excuse for keeping an eye on Regulus. He still did not trust that knight all because of the testosterone between the two.

Things were going around in circles for Cain as he walked along the street. He had found himself outside the large city yesterday with nothing but his armor and his sword and lance. At first he had thought Abel had played a trick on him, but when he questioned a local passerby he found that he wasn't in Altea or even Akaneia at all. He was in someplace called Learania in the country of the same name. The old man that he had questioned suggested he go into the nearby city. It was the capitol, Eyris, and someone would help him there so here he was. For whatever reason he was now here so he figured he'd have to first find out what this place had to offer. As he headed down the street, he noticed several places had tables and people calling out to pedestrians. The cavalier was intrigued by this. He wondered if something special was going on, like a festival. Something occurred to him as he stood in the middle of the street. Although the old man he said he could find something in the city he made no comment on where to find it. "Great! Where the heck is anything around here?"

Alex sat back down in one of the chairs and then waited for more people to walk by the guild booth to hopefully join. Sitting really wasn't going to do anything, but Alex just wanted a bit of rest right now and closed his eyes as he let his body rest for a moment. Besides, there were two new guys here helping now and not just himself so if he rested for a moment it would be fine.
Just as he was about to actually fall asleep when someone had tapped him in the shoulder. He quickly opened his eyes and turned around to see Zeiss had come back to the guard booth. "Zeiss!" he said excitingly as he got out of his chair. "I didn't come here for a break," he chuckled, "I appreciate the offer however."
"And that's all right, good to have you back here," he said as he patted Zeiss on his shoulder. "I don't know if you've met these guys from the guard but they're names are Valerick and Nuo," as he pointed to the respective people. "They've helped quite a bit while you were absent watching the other group," he told the wyvern rider.

So Tibarn was sitting around Amelia's office playing Skyrim for like an hour and Marina was there also.
"Hey, Birdboss, you gotta shout at that ********. It's the only way past ******** you I'm gonna hit him with a hammer. In his face. With a hammer."
And Amelia returned like "Marina get your huge butt off of my desk you're going to ruin all my paperwork."
"Yeah. With your butt. Bam! Hammer to the face, see?"
"No-- what? Give me that ******** pen." She took the pen and threw it at Amelia. "******** OFF, THE GUYS ARE PLAYING HERE."
wait no none of that happened what?
Tibarn frowned at a sort of meat bun thing, sitting on a little piece of grease-stained paper on Amelia's desk. "Why did I buy this? Marina, what compelled me to buy this, exactly? It actually smells worse inside now than it did outside. Or there's a dead rat outside." He sat up, uncrossing his arms, and snatched a little knifey letter opener from Amelia's desk, along with a fork, and cut it open carefully, peeling it back to peer in at the meat.
"No, seriously, someone explain to me why I bought this. Did I actually think I was hungry enough? Was this supposed to be appetite suppressant? Someone answer this for me."
"I don't know, but it certainly acted as an appetite suppressant for me," Amelia droned in response, making her way to the desk chair and collapsing into it. She leaned back for a moment, resting her hands in her lap, before glancing over at the dissected meat bun. "I'm not even sure what it's supposed to be. Someone just dropped this in the room for me and said you'd gotten me some food, but it smelled like a turd so I left it and I forgot to throw it away, I suppose. I figured you'd gotten something mixed up and that was supposed to go to... I'unno, Leon or someone, as a prank. I didn't remmeber to ask." She sighed and rubbed the side of her neck, glancing accusingly at the offending snackfood before heaving a quiet sigh and shuffling through the stacks of papers and used coffee cups littering her workspace "I think the laguz integration speech is somewhere under these papers I've already filled out but haven't had delivered yet..."
Marina leveled an even glare at Amelia from her side of the room. Holy hell that woman talked a lot. Her eyes drifted and settled upon the meat. "I'll take it if you're just gonna throw it out," she muttered, shrugging.
"Well, it's still warmish," Tibarn said, picking the thing up and tossing it to his aide. "I think I sent it here planning to eat it or something. 'Cause I was hungry. And now I'm not."
"Yeah, go right ahead," Amelia muttered, lifting papers and peering underneath them. Her eyebrows drew together in frustration as she moved to another stack, thumbing through them. It was like trying to find a needle in a ******** haystack in here. Except the needle was another bit of hay of a slightly different color. Man, she needed food in her system, not just that lemonade. ******** that meatbun s**t, though. Nasty. "Eat as much of it as you want, Marina. I don't want it. Where is that godsdamn paper?"
"Yep." She made her way over and snatched the food off of the desk. Food was food, after all. As she bit into it, she withdrew a document from behind her back and offered it to Amelia. "Looking for this?" she asked with a mouthful of food. Her eyes met Amelia's with just the slightest hint of contempt.
Amelia paused in her search, green eyes lifting to meet Marina's before moving to the paper. "...Yes. I am." She reached out and took it very carefully from her, diplomatically ignoring the bit of meat stuck to the corner of her mouth before scanning over it. "Yeah, this is the last draft I'd come up with. Mind giving it a look over, Tibarn? I think it should generally be ready to go, but it might need some finer touches." She held it out for the Hawk King to take, idly counting coffee cups.
He took it from the blonde general, sitting back and kicking his feet up onto her cluttered desk as he scanned through the document. "Mmhmm. Mmkay. Yeah. No, okay, that'll need to change... maybe a little too much detail there, just gonna confuse people... Wow, who told you that? Wait, that was me. No, I was punking you," he said, grabbing a pen to start making marks and suggestions on the page, allowing his focus to be swallowed up in the duty assigned to him as representative of the laguz.
"Uh huh, uh huh..." Marina had made her way over to the Hawk King, peering over his shoulder as she continued to devour the meal from earlier. "Speeches aren't really your strong suit, are they?" Marina casually commented as she read over the document.
"Well, excuse me, princess. Clearly you know infinitely more than me about administrative processes and preparing integration programs for beorc and laguz and have been around both all your life." Amelia resisted the urge to ask if she even knew how to read or write for good measure - obviously she did, she wouldn't have this job if she didn't - and settled for pinching the bridge of her nose, near the top. "Could you please mind your own business?"
"Wow," Marina murmured, "pretty defensive." Her gaze traveled over to where Amelia was and Marina mocked taking offense. "Are you sure the stress isn't getting to you?"
"No, I'm just wondering why you're chiming in when you have nothing to do with this," Amelia snapped back, rubbing at the bridge of her nose with her forefinger and thumb now. "Could you please shut up if you have nothing constructive to say?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not crew so what I say doesn't matter here. Is that what you're trying to say? It sounds a lot like that's what you're trying to say."
Amelia turned her gaze back to Marina, staring incredulously for a long beat. "Excuse me? That's not-- no, I didn't say that. What the hell are you talking about? I'm just saying if you're just going to butt in with irrelevant comments, then you should shut up. Are you stupid or-- or just weird?" Amelia rubbed her temple for a moment, closing her eyes. Maybe she should have ignored the smell of that meatbun. She could practically feel her blood sugar getting low.
"Whatever." Marina shoved the last of the meatsnack into her mouth and chewed on it as she reviewed the speech. She chewed for a long moment, then swallowed. "Oh, you misspelled a word there," she announced, pointing to the document.
Amelia took in a deep breath through her nose, attempting to stay calm. "Yes, of course. I can make changes to a document in Tibarn's hand right now, of course. Thank you so much for pointing it out to me." Amelia stared hard at her before staring at her desk through narrowed eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose again. "Will you please leave me alone?"
"No, I'm helping." She stared at the paper for a bit. "How long did you even go to school for?"
"If I answer, you'll just use it as another reason to insult me, won't you?" Amelia muttered. She released a long breath through her teeth and sat up, gesturing meaninglessly with one hand. "What does--"
"I don't need a reason to insult you."
Tibarn coughed, lowering the paper with a soft rumble. He wasn't going to involve himself just yet-- they were big girls, after all. But he wanted to remind them that he was still here.
"--What? ...Does it even matter? It's not like you're some sort of high-educated noblewoman, not with your manners." Amelia closed her eyes, trying to get a grasp again on her rapidly-dwindling patience. "Just do me a favor and please stop talking. You're giving me a headache."
Amelia met Marina's gaze with a level stare, chest heaving as she took a deep breath. "Because Tibarn asked for it. Because we need people to know what exactly is up with the laguz so something doesn't happen later that would necessitate a program like this."
"If we have to teach people about laguz, we could just have Annis strut around naked for them. That'd do the trick."
Amelia groaned in response, pushing her hair off of her face. "Ever hear of preventative measures?" Amelia leaned back in her chair a bit, growing more and more aware of the lack of food in her system. "Judging by the way you fight, I suppose you wouldn't know all that much about defense or about taking precautions, at least not in a social welfare sense..." She sighed and rubbed a hand over her face, biting her lower lip for a moment. "Just... please. Be quiet. Seriously. You're not being helpful."
Marina closed her eyes for a moment, quickly becoming filled with ire. "You know what? ******** you. If you knew anything about my s**t, you'd keep your ******** mouth shut. So do me a favor and do that." She paused, attempting to fake a moment of composure for her boss. "...As I was saying, I don't think a program is entirely necessary. A seminar, at the very most."
"It's not like we're enrolling people in classes or anything, Marina..." Amelia pushed her hair off of her face again and heaved a sigh. "And frankly, if I have to keep my mouth shut, then you should stop treating me like I'm an idiot because you clearly think you know so much more than me when you don't." Amelia finally sat up again and shuffled through her papers, looking for a blank parchment and her quill. "I don't recall you ever having to do half the s**t I have to right now."
"HEY." Marina stood up sharply, marching over to where Amelia sat. She slammed a fist on the table. "You've been acting like an entitled b***h ever since you got this ******** job! I've been cleaning up your messes for the last two years, and I've put more work into this goddamn guild than you ever have!"
The Hawk King looked up sharply this time, the paper slapping down into his lap. "That's enough, Marina! I don't know where the hell this is coming from-- from either of you," he added, turning an eye sharply to Amelia, "But it's completely ridiculous. Both of you just shut up and let me finish reading this thing over. And Marina, I'm trying to prevent another Tellius here. Education's important. Done well so far, but last thing we need is folks who don't know laguz meeting one of the senators of Begnion before they meet me. Now both of you shut up and let me finish," He grumbled, turning to the last page, intent on finishing this work, hopefully in silence.
"NO!" Marina howled. "How dare you take her ******** side? She opened this goddamn can of worms, she started this ******** thing, and I'M GONNA ******** FINISH IT!" She paused for just a moment, only to catch her breath. She hunched over to draw unnervingly close to Amelia's face, her eyes narrowed into slits and burning with the passion of a rant that had long been stewed over and rehearsed and was just now finally boiling over. "You're a <********> little tramp who's sucked up to everyone since you ******** got here and climbed the ******** ladder on your knees and now you expect everyone to ******** feel sorry for you because oh widdle amewia got hurt. Hey, I got my leg stabbed by some a*****e in the process of saving your ******** life. I still can't ******** walk right! Oh s**t, should I expect a promotion too?"
She was stunned silent at that, shrinking back in her chair as Marina got up in her face. She opened her mouth for a moment, then closed it, staring back at the lancer. Where had this come from? The General rubbed a hand against her cheek wordlessly, waiting for her to fall silent before she tried to speak, her eyes narrowing, firm but quiet. "I-I don't know what you're talking about, because I haven't sucked up to anyone. What the hell even g-gives you the right to s--"
But Marina wasn't finished! "BULLs**t, you haven't! You've been Rath's little lapdog for the last forever, running to him for every last little thing! I got here before you did. I ******** busted my a**. I'm living on the same goddamn planet as you, I came from the same goddamn planet as you, and I've sure as hell put a lot more into what I do than you've ever done. But Amelia gets all the handouts! That's cool. That's cool. But you've got a sincere ******** ******** you, right from the bottom of my heart." She stopped, panting softly as she attempted to catch her breath again. Her eyes remained focused upon Amelia's, unwavering.
Amelia's gaze briefly flickered to Tibarn, then back to Marina. Her voice stayed strong as she responded quietly and calmly, if just to prove a point against a woman that seemed to be willing to let the entire area know what was going on, "It doesn't matter how long you've been here, or-- or even if we're both from Magvel. If you deserved the position, Rath would have given it to you. It's that simple. I'm not going to sit here and let you tell me that what I've worked for and accomplished means nothing because being the adjutant to the Hawk King himself isn't good enough for a spoiled brat like you."
At this, Marina's hand curled up into a fist, and she had to resist every last urge to use it. Her voice dropped to a low hiss. "Oh, I'm a spoiled brat. Listen up, you little p***k, you'll never know what I've gone through to get here. I've worked my a** off too, and that got me ******** Adjutant. But I've been cleaning up your ******** messes since before I got here--" at this, her voice escalated into a shout once again, "and you're too high and ******** mighty to ACKNOWLEDGE IT!"
Tibarn's chair cracked into the wall like a gunshot. "ENOUGH!" The Hawk King was in rare form, risen to his full height and towering over the two girls, his wings twitching with such force that this coat flared each time they did so. His hands curled into quaking fists, lips curled into a nasty grimace as he glared down at them. "This is <******** ridiculous! Marina, I know for a fact you haven't been doing Amelia's goddamn work because you've been doing my goddamn work, and Amelia, you should damn well ******** know better than to rise to this s**t!" The immediate rage subsided to a long, burning simmer as his wings folded tight to his back. "As far as I can tell, neither of you deserves anything, because you're twelve goddamn years old," he growled, reaching up to rub his sinuses.
"... Marina. Did you know that you are the first hu-- the first beorc in history who has ever held the vaunted position you now hold? Did you know this is the first time you have ever made me regret the decision to offer it to you? You are my adjutant. My personal goddamn aide, and I expect you to act like it!"
Amelia's eyes glanced everywhere but at Tibarn's face, cringing back in her chair as guilt pressed down on her. He was right, she knew he was right, but Marina had been... It was infuriating. She couldn't just... insinuate all of those things and let it slide, could she? But she should have. It was the mature thing to do. Unfortunately... But he was right. He was right before and she wasn't going to start doubting his judgment now. Amelia let out an inaudible sigh and rubbed the side of her neck, risking a brief glance in Tibarn's direction when he momentarily quieted. Someone had to say it first, right? The General waited for him to finish addressing Marina before she cleared her throat and spoke, quiet still. "I'm... My apologies, Marina," she managed, keeping her eyes away from the lancer. "I'm not... I have no idea what you mean by what you had to go through, but... but I was insensitive. I'm sorry. It must have been hard."
Marina had gone abruptly silent at Tibarn's retaliation, however she could not let this pass. "'Hard'? HARD? You don't even realize it, do you? It was your fault. It was your fault." She was shaking now. Her face had gone pale. She spoke with a wavering tone as she continued. "You failed." And once again, she was screaming, only this time, instead of anger, her voice was filled with fear and panic. "YOU FAILED, AND I HAD LIVE THROUGH A LITERAL ******** HELL BECAUSE OF IT!"
"What... a-are you talking about?" Amelia sat up, hands gripping the arms of her chair hard enough to turn her knuckles white. Her palms felt clammy as her mind raced, erratically moving through possible conclusions and settling on nothing. Nothing she thought possible, anyway. Her voice weakened. "What... wh-when I came here, we'd... Magvel was saved, Eirika and Ephraim had gone to rebuild, I was finally g-going to see my mother, it was... everything was safer than it had been in months..."
"...what? No. No, no no. Nononononono. The Twins died. Everyone did. The Demon King was unleashed, and he threw darkness over the entire ******** land. Most of the population turned to stone. Those who were too strong-willed were forced into slavery by the monsters. I had to survive on my <********> own for years! There was no sun. There was only darkness. And... and you're telling me... that..." She was crying softly now. "T-that there's a Magvel this didn't happen to?"
Amelia could do nothing but stare, even after Marina had fallen silent. She was waiting for an answer, but as Amelia opened her mouth and tried to speak, nothing came out. The disbelief on her face flickered, and she shook her head slowly, eyes shutting tightly as she lifted herself laboriously out of her chair. "It... y-yes. There... is. There is. I'm sorry." She rubbed her face, letting out a weak breath. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have... I was rude. I assumed. You're... you-- you are..." she let out a frustrated breath, trying and failing to vocalize what she was thinking. "I'm sorry, I can't... I'll just make this worse. I'm sorry, Marina. I'm sorry. Okay? It's my fault. I shouldn't have-- I don't know. I don't even know." Amelia stumbled away and around the desk, a hand on her face. "Th-The apocalypse... ******** hell..." she muttered under her breath, grasping blindly at the doorknob as she breathed in through her teeth. "I'm just going to-- I'm getting coffee. I can't think. I need-- I need some goddamn food. I'm sorry, Marina. I can't--" she devolved into mumbling again, face still white in fear, just from the idea of it all. "Nothing I can say would even make it any better, just going to make things worse..." She wrenched the door open, stumbling out of the room. "Don't... Don't help me. I'm fine. Tibarn is-- y-yeah." She closed the door behind her, taking in a gasping breath and rubbing her hands over her face again. "The Demon King ******** winning..." Amelia stumbled away, one hand against the wall and the other grasping her side, shaking as she tried to imagine it. Where was the goddamn kitchen in this stupid castle, anyway.
Tibarn stared at Marina, and the closed door, for several long minutes, then gently slipped his wing around Marina, hand on her shoulder, and led her out.
