Sepheran nodded slightly when he saw West look over, but the description Liannan told him of made his quickly look back to his own work. He made a mental note not to get on the Wrath Demon's bad side.
Now focusing on his own work the basilisk was able to chop up some more food from the squid, though the thought of West still lingered slightly slowing him down slightly. It was quite admirable how West handled his weapons though, he seemed to be quite reliable...at least on anything but the cannons.

(Machining, please!) Barth passed a blood-soaked and grisly looking West on his way up to the deck. "What's...ah." The question was self-answering. The squid was everywhere.
There was Sepheran hacking busily away at squid tentacles that did not want to be undone. West looked exhausted. In short, it was not the kind of work he intended on doing.
Then he saw the ever-ready pile of grappling guns.
He wondered...well, it wouldn't be like work really, only a little experiment. At his own pace, which was very slowly, he affixed the hooked grappling head to a nearby tentacle, wriggling it into the rubbery skin, and the gun to the opposite side of the deck. Then he flipped the retraction lever.
The hook hesitated, then shot back to the gun, severing the tentacle.
"Hm," Barth said.

Now, Sharra had never attempted to harvest much of anything before, much less a squid, but he might as well give it his best go. Frowning deeply, he made his best attempt, taking his cues from West. It seemed he'd done a fairly decent job of things.
...All right, he didn't exactly have the hang of it yet. Perhaps another go would provide a better haul. Maybe. Goodness, was everything he attempted mediocre today? (( I'd like a Triple BB |D <3 Profile is hurr))

Hacking at the creature all the more viciously out of sheer frustration, the nergal even clawed at the squid with his arm for a good long moment. All right, well that worked better, perhaps he was onto something here. Smirking faintly, he imagined calamari and attempted to mentally replace that smell with the one of the rather toasted creature before him. Ugh, that didn't work so terribly well. It was time to suck up and persevere.

That had worked.
Barth had another idea. It only required a small test, though, and wasn't really made to maximize harvesting with the pull of a trigger. Yet.
This time, he wound the wire that attached the hook to gun around the tip of a tentacle.
When he pulled the trigger this time, the wire tightened as it recoiled, and instead of whipping around the squid (as he conjectured it might), the knot slid closed and ripped through the meat.
A small amount. But tested on a larger scale....

Barth wound the wire around multiple parts of the squid.
He steadied the grappling gun and the hook apart from each other.
He pulled the trigger.
The result was an explosion of sliced meet. Barth allowed himself a small, satisfied smile. That sort of grappling gun use could result in...grisly consequences. He just needed to find a way to reduce the effort in the set up. It was something to keep in mind, anyway.
He, too, slunk off for a shower.
That was the one thing he missed about being off-ship. Proper baths. But it would be a long while before he saw Halloween again, unless this cruise was directly round-trip. Somehow, he doubted it.

Well, that was a so-so attempt, but at least it had garnered more squid-flesh for the kitchen. Though he was rather hoping that someone other than himself knew how to properly prepare the stuff, he didn't exactly have the best experience with seafood, which could be a tricky subject to begin with.
Flicking squid-guts off of his claws, he straightened, heading away to clean-up. He was infinitely done with the squid-business....if another one came at them, he was simply going to drop-kick the thing and call it a day.

GM EVENT POST 8: ITS A WRAPSoon after the food was gathered (it took longer than expected) and the boat fixed, Malcolm steered them towards their destination once again and all was well... Until the mist fog set in. At first, it only affected visibility, but soon, the students would find it so thick that it was getting uncomfortable.
"Before someone trips and falls overboard, go below deck," Malcolm's voice could be heard, but he could not be seen through the thick fog that had enveloped the boat, "Stay there till I say that-"
There was a loud crash as the whole boat started to shake violently before he could finish his sentence; due to the fog, Malcolm had failed to spot some rocks ahead and had crashed into them. Between the chaos that followed and the epic way the boat was starting to sink, being ripped apart by the rocks, Malcolm's voice rose above all the noise.
"SWIM. GRAB A PLANK IF YOU CAN'T SWIM AND KICK YOUR WAY-"
Another crash, and then silence as the boat flipped on its side, tossing the students overboard and into the cold water... Seems like the students are on their own now as they drifted/swam/kicked towards a mysterious island.
