David GreysonSunagakure | Ichibi | Special JouninTeacher { Sand } Tactical~ When Akura asked why he'd been called there, David looked up from the files again, never truly having stopped reading them even while talking to the other boy. Pondering for a moment, he decided not to tell just yet. As amusing as this particular boy's reaction might be, he'd rather only make the announcement once, and everyone wasn't here yet. "Everyone was called except the ANBU." he shrugged, acting completely as if he wasn't the one who sent the call out. And it was true. The ANBU were needed at their posts even while this was going on. And it wasn't like they wouldn't meet him eventually anyways. They had probably known about this since before David had too, with how well they poked their noses into things, so it would be nothing new to them. Akura's statement about comas becoming contagious made David pause and blink at the boy, what was he talking about? Yeah, there had been a lot of unexplained comas lately, but, a disease? And why the name? Shaking his head, he decided that wasn't important for now and focused back into his reading. He'd respond to any questions the boy asked, if he felt like it, but he was also rather enjoying the influx of information from reading the kage's files. Strategic information about the village defenses, various profiles of outstanding shinobi, his own being included, and definitely an interesting read to see just what previous kages thought about him. One bit of information had slipped through that he had studiously avoided learning for the last couple years even, just because it amused him to not know it. The name of the first kazekage he had met. Koizumi... Fitting, since she had died in a pond. ~ [Chakra: 90/90] [Kunai: 4/4] [Shuriken 15/15] [Makibishi 25/25] [Sand: 240lb] [Chakra Pills: 5/5][Charged: 0/5]

Akura BashirouSunagakure | Puppet Master | GeninSpeed { Shunko } Tactical~ Seeing David on the chair, Akura thought back on the good old days, and the trouble he had caused David back when they took a field trip to Konoha, which caused the poor genin to sigh. " Ah, so not even you know? Seeing as you were the highest ranking in the room I figured you would know, but I guess not even you have the glory of knowing things only the higher ups do." Akura said oblivious to what David was doing, whom seemed to be enjoying his reading. " Hey David... Akura spoke, his eyes setting a gaze upon David briefly. " I'm sorry for all the troubles I cost you back in Konoha, and for asking Koi about the Ichibi..." Akura apologized, it had been a while since he had a good talk with David, and he was meaning to apologize for butting into the boy's private matters a year ago. ~ [Chakra: 31/31] [Kunai: 30/30] [Shuriken 5/5] [Makibishi 20/20] [Paper Tags 25/25] [Smoke Bombs 2/2] [Flash Bang 5/5 ]

吸血機 空 すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび "Sorry I'm late!" Sora said quickly as she appeared at the doorway to the Kazekage's office. She was out of breath, her hood had long-ago fallen off her head and her robes were dusty from the long run across the desert. Stupid sand storms... making her late... incoherent muttering. There were only three people in the room so far, well... three shinbi that she kinda had an idea about. She remembered seeing one of them from the Academy when she first met Bel. David was, well, being David... sitting in Jade's chair and flipping through files like it was all business. No doubt it was business, but the boy never struck her as the type to calmly wait on the side and twiddle his thumbs until something awesome happened. And Akura was there... with a girl that Sora was having a hard time remembering. But the girl seemed semi-unresponsive, but the girl left them alone. But the hat... the hat on the table... it just didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the picture. Then again, it was probably there before David sat down for all Sora knew. The girl found a comfy seat against the back wall where she promptly squatted. Her legs were tired after all that running, and she was truly... how to say it... dirty as hell? Sure, that worked.

"Ғαℓℓιnɢ. σн, тнɛ ωαrмтн ιт вrσʋɢнт тσ ʋs. ..." xxxxIt has been a while, Sakaye's thoughts were grim as she climbed the stairs of the Kazekage Tower and headed for the office. Was it strange that she had missed the blistering heat, the dry, balmy air of the desert, while she had been gone? She had missed Suna. The sky that stretched forever in every direction without ending until it touched the earth, the sparse, skeletal vegetation that didn't need to be green to be beautiful, the dusty red sand that rippled like water for miles. The buildings that sprawled to form Suna, the Crevice that opened up to reveal the desert civilization that she loved. She had missed it. But so much had changed since she had left, and she had so many questions that still were unanswered. Where was Koizumi-sama? Where was Kira? Where was Tanzu? And who the hell was the lady with the red hair and pale eyes that had glared at her as if she had committed some crime? She wanted answers before anything else, and she figured that she would get them once she got to the tower. So she climbed the stairs slowly, her body repeating the same movement pattern over and over as she climbed stair after stair until she stood outside of the door to the office. What she would find once she entered, she had no idea. She took a deep breath as she placed her gloved hand upon the handle to the door, the action calming her frantic, shaking nerves, and opened the door, stepping inside. She kept her obsidian eyes lowered as she entered, and turned on the spot to shut the door before looking up.xxxxThe sight that lay before her was a surprising one, indeed, and she raised her eyebrows as she stepped forward. David was sitting at the desk of the Kazekage, flipping through folders, through files as he sat. The kage hat rested on the desk before him as the other Suna shinobi stood about the room. She glanced around for several seconds, onyx eyes flicking about the room until her eyes found Sora resting against the back wall. She made a mental note to inquire about the people who had once inhabited Suna, but seemed to be gone now. What the hell was going on? She had no idea, but she fully intended on finding out. She approached the younger kunoichi quickly, without a word to any of the other shinobi.xxxx"Nee-chan, what is going on here? Where is Koizumi-sama? And Kira and Tanzu? I know I was gone for a while, but what the hell happened?" Her voice was soft and silky, almost a purr as she murmured to Sora."Ɩт ρʋт αn ɛn∂ тσ ωнαт ωɛ тнσʋɢнт cσʋℓ∂n’т sтσρ. David GreysonSunagakure | Ichibi | Special JouninTeacher { Sand } Tactical~ David glanced up again at Akura's attempt at an apology. Setting the file he'd just finished reading aside, he looked at the boy oddly for a moment before sighing and looking up at the ceiling instead. "I was never upset at you for that." he said, referring to the Ichibi bit. In his eyes the Konoha matter was past and gone anyways. He wouldn't even have remembered any of it if the boy hadn't brought it up. "I was upset at her, for giving away information that was not hers to give." His fist clenched the edge of the desk as he recalled the event more clearly after having spoken it. Walking into the office to find the kazekage telling a herd of genin all about him. He wouldn't have minded it at all really, if he had been asked. He didn't care who knew, so long as he knew they knew. But, with the way that woman always looked at him, she had probably told them in such a way so that they could protect themselves. He had never ceased to be amazed at how a kage could seem so scared of a mere genin. Releasing the desk, David refocused on his surroundings as the medic girl, (Sora was it?) came rushing in saying something about being late. "Can't be late when no time was given." David called back to her. In fact, if anyone was to be late, it would be those who came in after her, since she was still one of the first to arrive. Pausing, he looked at her again for a second as he recalled something. Hadn't she been on that mission to Kiri? Where was the rest of her team? Now, they would be the ones who were late then. It was while he considered that that Shayera came into the room, and went straight for Sora. Her questions were quiet, but he still picked out a couple of words. Namely Koizumi. Looking back at the desk, he picked up the file he'd just finished again and glanced over it once more. He'd honestly enjoyed reading this particular file, for decidedly morbid reasons. But, the girl would probably find closure in it. It was the reports of the gate guards from the day Koizumi had been brought home dead, and the coroner who had examined her body. There was no information to be found on what actually happened in the fight, but the reports themselves told a tale. How Koizumi had been almost unrecognizable from the amount of damage she had taken, while Jade, her opponent, was completely unharmed. There was also a note by Jade apparently that it had been a test of her ability, and not an outright murder. That it had been a fair fight, and she had even been given the first move. Though that in itself could be called unfair, since the first move in a ninja battle was often a suicide attack leading into the enemy's trap. Shaking his head, David snapped the file closed, his decision made. There was no truly sensitive or classified information in the document, so, with a flick of his wrist he sent it sailing towards Shay. "Catch." he called over to let her know there was something flying towards her. He'd seen her temper before, and assumed she likely wouldn't enjoy getting a file to the back of the head. Rather than watching to observe her reaction to the contents, as interesting a show as that may have been, he pulled another file from his stack and started flipping through it. He'd had an ANBU bring a pile of them in before people started arriving. He'd still be able to see Shay's reaction of course, but he'd also be absorbing the information on... Hm. Local businesses? Setting that file aside he grabbed another and opened it. Ah, much better, security reports on local businesses. ~ [Chakra: 90/90] [Kunai: 4/4] [Shuriken 15/15] [Makibishi 25/25] [Sand: 240lb] [Chakra Pills: 5/5][Charged: 0/5]

吸血機 空 すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび Nee-chan... only one person in the world addressed her as such. "Sakaye..." Sora muttered as she looked up to greet the girl. She had almost said Shay... Ugh, she really had to keep the names in check. Shay was no more. There was only this girl who bore a different name standing in her place. But of course, even Sora knew that they were the same person. Her memory was beginning to dim on her somewhat. "Tanzu...?" The name brought back roiling members that Sora would've rather forgotten than remembered, making her throat tense and her palms sweat slightly. Kira and Koizumi; Sora didn't know their story. Only the fact that they had disappeared with the desert sands. Koizumi's body had somehow wound up in the coroner's office, Sora had been present for the autopsy, but she didn't really stick around to find out the cause. She hated the woman. All she knew was that there was a deep satisfaction building in the pit of her stomach, and that she was glad. "Tanzu's dead. He has been for over a year." There was no lingering emotions behind the words. Perhaps guilt, but that would have been minute and difficult to hear. No, Sora didn't really feel anything toward the situation after it passed. Karo had taught her to control the present and forget the past. She wouldn't forget that lesson - it had almost cost her her life. "Since you were gone, we've gone through... I'd say almost three Kages. We received new shinobi and lost a lot of them. Many went up the ranks, including David and Etsushi-sama, who are both jounin. Cloverfield attacked the village and, shortly after, Zane - a former Kage - returned and attacked as well. In a nut shell... Sunagakure is pretty much the same mess that you left it in."

{ Kay and Akura never got their transplants, since that happened at the same time as the attack. And, you wouldn't have heard about the plans for it either.
Also, David's only Special Jounin, and that also happened at the same time as the attack, so for all anyone who wasn't there when he was promoted knows, he's still a chuunin. }

David Greyson Sunagakure | Ichibi | Special Jounin Teacher { Sand } Tactical
~
Finally, David's patience wore thin. Looking up at a clock that had miraculously survived, hanging on the little bit of wall over the door that was still intact, he decided he'd waited long enough. He was sure there were still some that hadn't arrived, but most of the people he knew were here, and many who he didn't know, the nameless cannon fodder of the village had also filed into the large room. Setting the file he'd been reading down on the desk with an unnecessarily loud thwack, the boy stood up, walking around to the front of the desk and leaning back against it.
For another minute or so, he simply stood there, scanning the crowd in the room to see how many had turned their attention to him from just that. A few had, some having been drawn by the sound of the folder, and turned back to their conversations already. Others kept looking, though he wasn't sure whether it was because they had realized he was seeking attention or just to see what he was up to. The longer he stood there though, the more seemed to turn their attention to him, though some also lost interest and looked away. All in all, an interesting experiment.
Finally bored of that, David cleared his throat loudly, calling attention to himself as he waited a moment longer. That should have drawn whatever eyes weren't on him already. Most people seemed to accept that when David wanted attention, he got it. Well, most people except... Yeah, best not to worry about that. She was dead anyways.
"It doesn't look like quite everyone is here yet, but we've waited long enough." he spoke out, standing upright. By that small statement, most of the people in the room should have realized that it was him who called the meeting. The question of the hour was now why, and furthermore, how. Why would be revealed soon enough, but how, well, he'd save how for a finisher.
"Sunagakure has had quite a history for Kazekages." he continued, picking up one of the files he'd been reading earlier and flipping it open. "Koizumi Natsumi, deemed by the council elders to be incompetent and unqualified to lead due to her weakness and stupidity. She was replaced by Letti Mokashiha, who relinquished the position and left the village after less than a month. Koizumi was temporarily reinstated until the council relocated Zane Hajime, who seemingly died a short time later. The village was left without a leader until Jade Uchiha arrived and took command. Now, her reign too has fallen short." he took a pause, snapping the file shut and dropping it back onto the desk behind him.
"After Zane's return, and subsequent attack, Jade has fallen sick to an unknown disease. She is not expected to recover any time soon, and if she does, she will likely be greatly weakened by the sickness. The sannin Aeden has taken her out of the village to seek a cure, taking both of our S ranked ninja from us. With our leaders gone, and rumor of Zane's attack spreading to the world, Sunagakure is in dire straits. If we are seen as weak by the outside world, we are in danger of another village attacking and trying to take us over. And furthermore, we likely would be unable to resist."
Pausing once more, David took a breath while allowing the information to sink in for the rest of the crowd. Some might have already known about Jade's sickness, for others this would be the first they heard of it. For all, it would be the first they knew about her being gone with Aeden. When all the information he'd given them had sunk in, they should be able to realize the danger Suna could be in right now. Zane was likely bragging to whoever he'd run to about how he'd destroyed the village, even though he'd done little real damage at all. But, that sort of misinformation still made a village look like easy prey, and if information about Jade got out, it was only a matter of time before they were attacked.
After a good minute, David figured he'd given them enough time, and decided to lay out the finisher. "In this time of need, the council has seen fit to name me as Kazekage. I am not as strong as Jade was, nor am I as kind as Koizumi supposedly was. However, there is one thing I am. I am loyal to this village. And as long as I live, Suna will never fall." Throughout his declaration, David's voice never rose, never changed pitch. It was said in the same tone as most everything else he'd said thus far. Straight statement of fact. And for those that knew David, that was about as good as if he'd screamed it from the rooftops, because he wasn't just making a claim, he was giving a guarantee. The day Suna fell would not come until he was dead. And yet again, anyone that knew David, knew he didn't plan on dying any time soon.

He got the message shortly after Sora, but damn if bats and their sonar don't sometimes confuse him. He was a chuunin, new yes, but chuunin nonetheless, and he had to hurry. He sped upp the stairs, coming in earshot of the office soon after David's first sentence. He slowed down, knowing he could hear all clear as day. The many voices and whispers had ceased as David began speaking of the past Kages, some asking who on Earth this Letti was. Letti, the one who made his blade. Koi, the one who tempered his tongue. Zane the one who made him an honorable shinobi. Jade... the one he felt closest too. He would walk through the small crowd, around the point in which David made his claim as the kage was when he stood at the front of the crowd, the sound of his voice now drowning out all others.
Jade was sick with the disease that had befallen Akura briefly during training, one that had been spreading. It was clear to him that it was more important for Aeden to run away with her to find a cure. She was his life. He could understand. Kay resisted his emotions and held his stare in David's direction. The whispers began again when he claimed the place of kazekage. Even Kay couldn't help but take in a slight breath. When he spoke his last line, Kay took a step forward. His expression was serious, though his glassy eyes wouldn't move. "David Greyson," he began loud enough for David and anyone close to him to hear. "As one of her final acts before being claimed by sickness, Jade Uchiha promoted me to chuunin." His voice was level, betraying the slight sadness he felt. "You're right, you may not be as strong as Jade or kind as Koi, but if you will have me stay as a chuunin, I will follow you on the path before us." He would hold out his hand for David, knowing from past experience that it and he would probably go ignored.

(( No posting format ftw.))
Mizax wore a smile on his face as he hopped up the stairs, moving up them casually and happily despite recent events which had destroyed its top floor, the Kazekage's office. It had been awhile since he had seen his mother and he hoped that he would see here there despite rumors that she was no longer in the village. He been absent for the recent events, or rather, not even close to where the events had been happening and only knew what he heard by word of mouth. Something about some old guy attacking the village, but that wasn't exactly his problem at the moment, since he was new. New to the shinobi world since his parents had kept him sheltered and secret until recently with their unexplained absence, the only evidence he had that supported them leaving.
Once he had reached the almost obliterated top floor, it seemed to be very crowded. People were moving through the doorway into the Kazekage's office, and he counted see anything due to his short stature. "Confound these tall people." He mumbled to himself, pushing his lithe and small body between the crowd in order to get himself to the front. With some effort he made it to the front and tripped over someone's foot, falling flat on his face in front of everyone.

" Congratulations David, I'm glad that the newest Kazekage is someone whom can use the village itself as a weapon." Akura spoke kneeling down on his left knee to David, he knew that the boy could do this job, much better than any Kage that came before, this including Jade herself. David Greyson Sunagakure | Ichibi | Special Jounin Teacher { Sand } Tactical Kazekage
~
David remained silent for several minutes, simply watching those before him as they processed the information, and made their reactions. Some were visibly upset, some disbelieving, shock was the most common reaction throughout the crowd. A surprising number, to him at least, joined Kay and Akura in their professions of loyalty. The ones he most expected a bad reaction from though, seemed to have remained completely silent, simply blending into the crowd as it rose up. As expected, he did not accept Kay's hand, but the fact that several others made similar gestures to his would probably quell any issues that might arise from that. With nearly the entire shinobi population of the village crammed into one room, and a good quarter of them reaching out that way, he had three options. Spend all day shaking hands and never get to the point, shake only a few, and create an image of favoritism, creating dissent among those who went ignored, or just ignore all of them equally and move on. Obviously he would choose the third.
Finally, when the racket began to die down, David rose his hands for silence again, quieting the crowd as they should realize that he wasn't done yet. Some people might have wasted time thanking the people for their vows of loyalty and showing of faith, and David actually considered it for a moment. But, that wasn't his sort of thing, and he really wouldn't have known how to proceed with such a speech anyways, so he decided to just finish what he had started.
"Thank you." he began, maybe that would be enough to substitute for some speech or other. "But loyalty will not be enough. Not anymore. In our current state, any of the great nations could overtake us easily. Excluding some of our ANBU forces, and some who have not yet returned to the village, I am the highest ranking member of the village. The strongest. And with my ranking only being that of a Special Jounin, this does not put us in a strong position." David stopped, pausing long enough for the information to sink in, but not long enough for anyone to cut in again.
After only a few moments, he continued speaking. "Our only hope of survival, is to lie, to cheat. To act like ninjas of old, and deceive our enemies and allies alike. We do not have a new kage. We never lost our old kage. Jade is alive and well, running and protecting the village. This is the image we will project, and continue to project. Nobody outside of this room is to even know that Jade no longer resides in this village. Friends, family, loved ones, nobody is to hear a whisper of it. The deception will not last forever of course, but we won't be relying on it either. While hidden behind her name, we must train ourselves. Become strong. Strong enough to protect the village ourselves, and survive at any cost."
David paused again, taking a much needed breath as he allowed this next bit of information to sink in completely. No doubt it would be a hard task in this new generation of ninjas. Deception wasn't taught anymore. Not the way it used to be, not the way it was in the books he had read of olden times, when ninjas were truly the terror of the night, and demons of the shadows. Peace and honor had weakened the ninja way in his eyes, and if they were to survive, they would need to return to their roots, if only a little. His people might not like the idea, but they would accept it as the necessity it would become. And now, there was only one thing left to say.
"To facilitate the training we need to do, I am lifting the restrictions on library access. Genin, jounin and academy students alike may have full access to the library in order to supplement their own training. Find a teacher, train yourself, whatever it takes, become stronger. Now go. I need to do my own training as well." he finished, waving towards the door, signifying that the meeting was over. He would return to his own training as soon as everyone had left. He needed it most of all.

Alright, here's the rules. Anyone may go into the library and take out a book or scroll to train with. Unless another crew member says otherwise, genin can also begin self training again, like with the old chuunin exams. The rules of this self training though, are that you have to add and extra learning post PER RANK to every jutsu you learn that way. E = +1, D = +2, and so on. You can also, obviously, only learn up to C rank that way.
Those who have completed enough training to qualify for promotion may head to the mission center, and send me a PM to receive the missions required for promotion. And don't forget, you can also gain points towards promotion by way of training others, so help each other out.

Akura Bashirou Sunagakure | Puppet Master | Genin Speed { Shunko } Tactical
~
Hearing David speak Akura nodded in agreement, he knew that if outside sources heard about Jade no longer being in the village, Sunagakure would be a prime target for rouges trying to become of money and rank; but with David as Kage, he knew that any rouge one-hundred miles near the village they would suffer a very sandy, swift; and painful, death.
" Well, I already have all the jutsu I'd like to learn down... So I guess I'll go check if there's a mission worth doing." Akura simply mumbled bowing quickly in front of David and then turning around; heading down the stairs of the tower; heading to the library for a brief moment before going to the mission hall.
