Staring.

He was... staring. He was acting like a starstruck fanboy, unable to do anything but gape in the presence of the person they most admired. It was downright embarrassing, likely rude, but he simply couldn't help himself. Sensory overload aside, he felt as though he'd drifted back through time, to when he had first witnessed Elijah's band playing. Even then, he'd been rather speechless. He couldn't explain exactly why, and he would probably fail to come up with a suitable reason if asked.

His heart hammered rhythmically, heavy as a drumbeat, rattling and calling out to him. After a minute or two, his figure relaxed a little. First in the shoulders, than in the grip he had on the chair and his shirt. Lastly, his gaze fell away, hidden beneath a fringe of curling golden hair. A long breath fell out of his chest and he patted the chair's top suddenly, as if some sort of resolve had been made in him. Swallowing, he wondered if he should have a drink tonight - rarely, if ever, did he have anything alcoholic.

Emerald-blue eyes found another pair observing him from afar. Blond brows winging upwards, he blinked once, then tilted his head. That was Lacey, Melanie's friend, the young bassist. Seeing as she was looking at him, curiously, he waved a little. Deciding that there wasn't anything he could do until the band took a break, he headed in her direction. "Ah... Hi. We haven't really talked before, huh? How... are you?" He asked, coming to a slow halt near her, within arm's reach of the bar.

A slight grin played across her face. "Ohh, how you know?" She joked then nodded to confirm. "Just a little." The words were spoken like a chesire cat's grin, before watching Lithium scamper off, which didn't worry her. The fox seemed to be fine in here and she wouldn't bother anyone, then her eyes fell upon pale boy again. What was his name again? Oh yea Lucian. "I don't know if I should go talk to him.. I mean I do look like a guy and he might think I'm weird, I mean a lot of people do. I believe I'm a guy's soul in a girl's body, but please don't laugh." She begged pleadingly.

Lacey blinked when Daniel looked at her suddenly. Was she really staring at him like that? Her cheeks flushed slightly in embarrassment. She always hated it when her mind wandered away from her. It made her stare at random places in space; which sometimes ended up being where a person was situated at. She just stood there as he waved, fiddling with her fingers. Ah, why was he walking over to her for?

Lacey made a soft sound of acknowledgment when he mentioned something about them never really talking. It was true after all. She only uttered her name to him 15 minutes ago. "I'm fine thanks," she replied in her usual soft tone that was just loud enough to be heard over the music. Her eyes shifted from her hands to his emerald-blue ones. "Uh..." she scratched the back of her neck while thinking. "So...do you write songs to?" She finally forced herself to ask the blond. A breath that she didn't know she was holding escaped with a whoosh. A small hand covered her mouth quickly as she gave an embarrassed smile.

Why was she getting so embarrassed? Well, that kind of happened a lot anyway, but still. It probably had something to do with the whole songwriter thing. She was a lot shyer about that then she was about playing the bass or piano in front of people. With that said, she was just as shy when it came to playing piano pieces that she composed herself.

Melanie let another chuckle escape her lips. Of course, she wasn't laughing at the girl. "Oh don't worry," she replied with a smile, "I'm used to things like that. Although, I haven't met a transgender person before."

She glanced over at Lucian before her eyes shifted to look at Lacey; who was now talking to Daniel. Well, that was a surprise. It didn't look like it was her friends doing though. After all, Daniel wasn't near his seat anymore. A soft smile formed on her face as she turned her attention back toward Peeta.

"It wouldn't hurt to say hi," Mel started to encourage her. "Plus, that blond guy over there..." she motioned to Daniel before continuing, "he seems to be popular with the fellas." She let out a heartier laugh this time. Of course she didn't really know if that was true, but it was fun to tease about such things. In short, she was basically telling her to go talk to Lucian before someone else does.

Yuko let out a peal of laughter, setting down her sake with a little clink and rocking back in her chair.

"Liam Roman Westlye, you shouldn't give your name and birth date to a complete stranger. Hah, you're as bad as Watanuki-san." She wiped a tear from her eye and came forward again, resting her elbows on the table. A sly look on her face, Yuko added, "After all, if one knows your name, one could lay a hold on a part of your soul. And if one knows your birth date, one could control your destiny."

She looked toward the band, listening to the music for a moment, then pointed a finger at Liam without taking her eyes from the stage. "I shall tell you what I know so far about you. 'Liam' means helmet or protection, so I know that you tend to be protective of things you perceive as yours. 'Roman' embodies the ideals of courage and rectitude, which you yourself display from time to time." She picked up the choko and sipped it, turning her piercing gaze back to him.

"Your birth date tells me that you like to keep some emotional distance between you and everyone around you. You never let them get too close and you don't let yourself get too attached. While you seem calm on the outside, there's a lot going on underneath that would, at the very least, surprise everyone around you. You know that, so you keep your thoughts to yourself." Another sip, then, "You're also a hard worker. I also think that you're very controlling. Rather than leave your future up to chance, you take responsibility for it."

She took her elbows off the bar and inspected her gloves. "It seems I know more about you than even Christoph does, and we've only just met. Will you show me what's in your pocket?"

"Well, alright. I trust you not to lie to me!" Christoph shook a finger mockingly at Melanie, trying to get her to laugh. He loved being ridiculous. As he turned to gather the ingredients, he spared a quick glance over in Yuko's direction. She seemed to be enjoying herself, but Liam acted unsettled. She could have that effect on people, he knew.

One highball glass. Fill it with ice, then some vodka and peach schnapps. Add equal parts cranberry juice and orange juice, and stir vigorously. Christoph followed this recipe with his usual flair for the dramatic and presented it to Melanie.

"Hope Lacey enjoys it."

Lucian Kliment

Lucian pulled to his feet; he decided to go for it. “Why not order drink?” Mumbling under his breath yet again. He nodded in agreement. Leaning himself down to where he scooped the leather casing protecting his guitar in his left arm, the nylon strap sliding onto his shoulder. He leaned his head forward some as he buried his face into the fur collar of his coat.

A smirk twisted into Lucian’s expression, a single canine came into view. It was rather strange how sharp it looked, like a tiny dagger embedded in his mouth. Closing his lips together, his right foot shifted in front of his left motioning to the bar. Lucian’s right hand had placed near his face, his index traced down his right cheek as he contemplated his choices. Finally he spoke up, his accent of course still there.

“Laad na, Bartender .. “

Lucian ended up deciding on the drink called the Pyatizvyozdnaya, It was a type of Vodka, the name meaning “With Five Stars”. Lucian had memories of this specific brand. He remembered the strong smell of honey that lingered in the air the night of his Uncle’s parties, this was actually a fond memory, and his Uncle was quite funny when he overdid things being very playful and though it was fake; happy. Lucian couldn’t help but chuckle at the memory; he disliked drunks and their dangerous behavior but his uncle was not so much dangerous he simply said and did the funniest things.

“Bartender, one Pyatizvyozdnaya?”

Lucian inhaled his chest pulling inward; he had hoped that this bar had imported drinks such as this. Thoughts unraveled in his head. Lucian wasn’t much of a drinker, but thought maybe this was a good occasion to do so. Lucian lowered his head as he awaited the response, exhaling a soft sigh causing his chest to push back out.

Lucian shuffled his right palm through the pockets of his jeans, his index and thumb tugged out a laminated card. Lucian didn't bother to get an I.D in America yet, so instead he still had his I.D that was in Russian. Before asked, he laid the card against the counter of the bar, his index placed towards the part showing his date of birth.

"Alright." Peeta said and stood up and walked over, mouthing to Mel. "Wish me luck." Lithium saw her and trotted over, her head held high and she looked like she was dancing in time with the music, the silly fox. 'Show off.' Peeta thought to herself before pulling a seat beside Lucian. "Hey, you seem to be enjoying yourself. Are you in some tone of nostalgia?" She asked while Lithium sat on the ground between them. "This is Lithium by the way but she answers to Lithia." Peeta added, pointing to her arctic fox companion.

Lucian Kliment

Lucian kept his index against the laminated card that was deciphered in Russian and held his information. His sangria colored optics shifted; from the corners of his eyes he let his gaze shift onto the one who had approached him. Seemed a lot of that had been done to him today, but Lucian didn’t actually mind. It made him feel less of a “foreigner”.

Lucian let his eyes narrow to a close his icy colored lips perking into a gentle grin after he had taken in both appearances of both the one who approached him and their furry companion. The appearance of the stranger looked male, but for some reason Lucian wanted to assume female.

Hesitant he avoided this question, discarding it from his mind simply ignoring the ambiguous gender. Despite this, he still found the appearance to be nonetheless appealing.

“Da, could say that to be true."

Admitting to his reminiscing,
he then nodded his head towards the furry companion in a greeting.

"Is nice to meet you Ms. Lithia.”

Finally he spoke, answering the question that the other had asked. A clam expression phased over his porcelain like face. Lucian parted his lips as he began to introduce himself, he had become content in this rather “cozy” building, so he subconsciously began speaking in Russian.

“Dobry den, menya zavout Lucia – “

Lucian had almost finished introducing himself, only to exhale an exaggerated sigh of agitation against himself.

“Forgive, I am Lucian and you are .. ?”

Lucian waited on both his beverage and the other’s answer; he seemed patient not minding the wait.

♥ ♠ Call me Byron, that's all ♦ ♣

"Just stating the presence of vampires answered a lot." Byron answered with a disappointed voice, then he suddenly shut up and didn't ask anymore questions, that simple statement landed on him as a cold shower. Christoph noticed how he was trying to distract himself by looking at the band and the patrons, he watched Melanie ordering that weird named drink, he knew what it was but he never ordered one, it sounded like a girls drink and he always wanted to laugh at how cheesy people sounded when they ordered one, then he followed that new girl with her cute furry companion, she didn't look much like a girl but he could tell she wasn't a guy "So she did talk about a fox" he thought as he lit up another cigarette. Then the Russian guy ordered some weird brand of Vodka Byron never heard of, but the most intriguing scene was Daniel mesmerized by the band playing, Byron liked their music too, he didn't expect them to be this good, judging by their looks, but he got a feeling the bassist wasn't as powerful as the other two members, he knew a lot about music thanks to his aunt, he missed her a lot and wished the days of his childhood were back. The lovely Japanese lady was still talking to the flamboyant haired bartender, he could overhear her talking about names and dates and destinies, she seemed interesting and if she wasn't that important to Christoph he might have attempted to start a conversation with her. He raised his cup only to find out he had drank all of his cocktail without noticing, the idea of the existence of vampires was taking over him, how could this be even possible, it defied all his Vulcan like logic, he just didn't want to believe it.
Now Daniel was talking to that cute, shy black haired girl from last time, he could notice the striking resemblance between her and that important guest at the end of the bar.
"Well, I guess I'll just have a double Jack on the rocks then, I told myself I wouldn't but there is a lot going through my mind now."He told Christoph then he flinched a little "Maybe I'll talk to you about my vampire questions later when it's emptier around here."

Melanie Pritt

"Oh she will. Lacey likes to have sex on the beach," Melanie responded with a laugh. Even if she sounded like a perverted weirdo when ordering; she didn't care. It was all in good jest and fun.

As far as Christophs attempts to make her laugh, she didn't mind. It would probably work for her most of the time. Lacey on the other hand, could get annoyed again. It really depends on how he went about it. Funny how the owner of this place got under her skin so quickly. She gave him a smile for thanks as she took the drink in her hand.

Melanie turned back to watch Peeta walk over to the guy. She gave her a smile of encouragement the girl mouthed those words to her. It's not that she really cared how it went, or even if she went over to talk the Lucian. It was just how the conversation went.

That was when the guy on the other side of him mentioned something about vampires. What were they talking about? Mel knew that Lacey and Christoph have had weird conversation, but she decided to stay out of it all. She didn't really believe in fantasies like her friend. Her hazel eyes glanced at the guy that downed his drink unknowingly before walking over to Lacey.

"Hey you two!" Mel held the drink out for her friend to take while she greeted them both. Her eyes shifted from Daniel to Lacey. "I know you like your sex on the beach, so..." she trailed off on purpose as a big grin slid across her face. The cheerful blond did think about teasing them more, but she decided to be nice.

Lacey turned her attention to her friend when she came over. Presently, she had an arm wrapped around her own waist. Her hand was holding her other arm closer to her body. It wasn't a death grip, but it did push her chest up and closer together. Not that she meant to do something like that.

"Mel!" Her dark eyes went wide at the final comment that her friend made. She knew that the blond was talking about the drink, and that she was saying it like that on purpose; but it was still embarrassing. Her cheek flushed slightly as she took the drink, which made her release her hand from her arm. Eyes traveling to the band behind Daniel as uttered a simple thanks. Then she proceeded to take a sip. It was easier to calm down when she distracted herself.

The drink was pretty good, but she felt like it was missing something that the other drinks had. Too bad, she missed Christoph's little flare for the dramatic. Her eyes glanced over to the orange haired bartender. Hopefully they didn't get into a disagreement again. Well, it's not that they fought last time; although they seemed to upset each other a bit. Ah well, that didn't really matter.

Lacey focused her attention back toward Daniel and the band behind him. She liked the fact that she could look at both without the one she was talking to knowing that she was doing so. After all, they were both in the same line of sight.

Christoph looked at the newcomer, taking in his pale appearance with no hint of surprise. Weirder types came in, after all. He hadn't had any Russians come in for a while, though, and was pleased when asked for the unusual vodka.

"Bis prabl’Em. Adin Pyatizvyozdnaya." He turned to the girl who came up and said in English, "You wanted to order something, but I'm afraid I didn't catch it. Would you mind reminding me?" As he waited for her response, he reached under the bar and opened up a cooler reserved for chilling vodkas. His other hand grabbed a low tumbler and set it gently on the bar. Christoph quickly found the Pyatizvyozdnaya bottle and pulled it out, revealing it to be sealed. He opened it up and poured out some of the clear, honey-scented alcohol, then slid the tumbler to the Russian.

Lucian Kliment

Lucian lowered his head, his palm sliding back with the laminated card caught under his index pulling back his thumb tucked underneath of the card, shoving it back unkemptly in his right pocket. His arm lifting to where the same hand had tucked around the rather chilled glass that held his requested liquor, droplets of condensation glided down the material of the glass, colliding with the flesh of Lucian’s fingers.

“Spaceebo!”

Lucian had exclaimed rather surprised that the bartender could seem to speak Russian.

Lucian had tugged his arm upwards, causing the glass to lift from the counter of the bar. His lips parted before placing the edge of the glass to his icy lips, the liquid began to seep into his mouth gliding down his throat. The flesh of his cheeks lit up in a faded scarlet as he quickly pulled away the liquor before he finished off.

His many memories of his Uncle began to yet again pass through his mind. The honey now stained his own breath, as he inhaled feeling the liquor’s taste still lingering on his tongue despite have already slid down his throat. Once more he tipped the glass between his lips, as he pursed them together against the glass, letting the remaining liquid ease down his throat.
His cheeks yet again flustered with red as he placed the now empty glass against the counter.

He still awaited the other’s answer, in his mind he had finally decided. “female” it was just too loud in the back of his head to ignore. Despite the appearance of a male there was no doubt the one that interacted with him was female. He awaited a reassurance of his decision however.

Meanwhile. Lucian had let his eyes wonder about the area, taking in not only the appearance of the room but the people. He had lowered his head to where his sangria colored eyes glance was hidden under the white fur collar of his coat.

¤ ---With dreams of a distant l o v e--- ¤
| -I'm a W A N D E R I N G {satellite} |

Okay. This was weird. It had started off strange to begin with, considering the company he was keeping, but now it was heading for the downright outrageous. This... woman... must have a screw loose or something. Honestly, Liam couldn't think of one person that he'd met prior to her that was anything like her. That peel of laughter - sweet, sultry and completely open. Her wicked grin and the gleam of those sharp, heavily lashed eyes. "I hardly think something as small as my name and birthday could alter my life so absolutely..." Liam replied in a dry tone, disbelief for the odd remarks she'd made apparent as the slight furrow of his brow - one that edged toward a feeling of uncertainty. He couldn't say why, but her words not only caught him off guard, but they struck a chord deep inside him. One that rung of truth, plain as the nose on his face, that he could only try to deny for so long.

Making a low sound of consternation in his throat, Liam rested his chin in the palm of his left hand, hair spilling with a silken rustle over the long line of his pale, narrow neck. Swanlike in repose, but eyes dangerously narrowed, Liam smiled thinly as Yuko stared at the band a top the stage. Whatever this woman assumed about him, he at least knew himself better than any. There was no way that she could accurately guess anything just by knowing his na -

- his elbow slipped straight off the edge of the bar. He managed to stop himself from tilting out of his chair by gripping the bar with both hands, but the effect his shocked motions had caused was out of his control now. Mind slip-shod with firm denial and juxtaposing rants of 'how, how, how?!', Liam stared solemnly at the sly-eyed female. That... what she had just... what she had said... Was impossible. What was she, a therapist? One of those people who could interpret most anything from watching a person's actions?

While he was mentally pulling himself out of a black hole, Yuko seemed utterly composed and nonplussed about her recent analyzed statement concerning his very... person. Grasping at straws for some semblance of composure, Liam slowly, minutely nodded. "Christoph... doesn't make a point to know... anyone... in a personal sense..." He muttered quietly, face darkening as a sour, disappointed emotion whelmed inside him. At the mention of his pocket, Liam's brows rose again, but he silently obeyed. From his vest pocket came a single object: a ring, a thick band silver and gold, designed to look like vines interwoven, a tiny nest of "leaves" holding a small jewel. Three small jewels, actually, pressed tightly together to look like one. Amethyst, sapphire and some sort of amber stone...

It was his father's. The man he'd never seen, never known, never met. The man whom had stolen his mother's heart, and probably her happiness, and disappeared as if he'd never existed to begin with. He didn't even have a picture of him, and the stories his mother told of his father seemed too far-fetched to believe. Deity his a**... Holding it out, he held it up for Yuko to see, staring at it with mixed feelings of distrust and inner conflict.

- - - - -

"N-no problem..." Daniel replied quietly, suddenly bashful. He'd walked over without preamble or hesitation, but now that he'd opened his mouth and started a conversation, he wasn't sure just where to go with it. It was just like him to do something spontaneously and then blanch afterward when it dawned on him that he hadn't planned out anything. Thankfully, it seemed as though Lacey had a question on her mind; what it turned out to be, however, surprised him a little. 'Too? So... that means...' He thought, wondering if that meant Lacey had a writing background too.

Before he could manage an answer, Lacey's blond friend Melanie strode over, looking pleased by something or other. He flushed, realizing what it was she had said. Glancing furtively at the drink handed over to the young bassist, he swallowed down what might have been a laugh or giggle. Some drinks had the strangest names; he usually stuck with simpler ones that any bartender could fix up in a jiffy without batting an eye. As the two girls chatted for a moment, his gaze swiveled down the bar, investigating what he had missed during his previous reverie.

From the looks of it, the white-blond Lucian was doing alright, currently talking to a girl, uh, yes, a girl that Daniel had never seen before. The flash of white on the ground between them startled him - he blinked several times until he realized that his eyes weren't playing tricks on him. A fox, of all things. Well, it wasn't like he hadn't seen stranger things in The Haunted Music Box. Mentally shrugging, he glanced at Liam, Christoph's right-hand employee of sorts, as he spoke to a lady so extravagantly dressed he wasn't sure what to think of her. Flushing, astonished by her exotic, eccentric beauty, he hurriedly glanced away. Christoph, it seemed, was still talking amiably to a dark haired male.

Swallowing, Daniel smiled as he turned back to Melanie and Lacey. To think, he'd had seen them all before, but tonight he was striking up conversation... like a normal person. Chuckling to himself, he brushed back his messy blond hair and finally got around to answering Lacey's question. "I... do, actually. I feel more confident playing when it's something I've personally composed. I guess... it's been a hobby of mine for a long time. I... so, um, do you write songs, Lacey?"

Lacey smiled when she noticed Daniel's reaction to what Mel had said. It seemed to her that they both get embarrassed easily. It was refreshing to know that for some reason. Her gentle smile widened a bit right before the blond before her spoke again.

More confident? Lacey was the exact opposite when it came to the songs she composed herself. After all, they showed her core personality and deep emotions. Letting everyone see that through her music was kind of scary. It was yet another thing she was shy about; maybe that is why she wanted to talk to a fellow writer.

"Yea..." was all she responded with in her normal tone. This would be a good time to go in more detail. It would be lame if she stopped right here. After all, she never really knew someone that wrote songs. Well, Melanie put together tracks to create new songs, but it wasn't the same.

That was when Mel poked her in the side; making her react in an awkward way. It looked like a weird combination of a flinch and a little jump: a flinch jump. Lacey made some incoherent noise as she looked at her blond friend; who was encouraging her to keep talking. After Melanie finished whispering to her, she walked into the crowd of people to start dancing. Oh how nice, leaving them alone to talk about something she wasn't interested in.

Lacey watched her for a moment before turning back toward Daniel. The young bassist let out a soft sigh. It's not like it was bothering her to talk about it. She was just trying to calm her nerves a bit. It was silly that she even had any. After all, it's not like she was going to reveal some huge secret. "It started when I began playing my own melodies on the piano...instead of practicing like I was supposed to," she stopped for a moment to chuckle. A few of her delicate fingers, which had dark purple nails decorating the tips, covered her mouth as she remembered something from her past. "I guess...in reality, I was always composing stuff in my head...even before I started learning the piano. I just never wrote it down. In fact, I still tend to forget...to do that."

Lacey put her left pointer finger on her cheek as her eyes shifted to look up toward her left for a second. It was almost as if she was debating on whether she should say more or not. Of course, it was really just something she did subconsciously as her mind wandered. "I get distracted easily..." she finished with a small smile as her eyes returned to his. It was a smile that showed a slight bit of embarrassment.

She took another sip of her drink; that she didn't really feel like drinking. It made her ask the next question. "Are you going to get a drink?" While she waited for him to respond, she started to wonder why she actually told him all that. It wasn't like her to say so much about one thing right after meeting someone. She shrugged mentally as she looked passed Daniel toward the band. It was probably just because she never got to really talk about it before. After all, Mel was the only one that truly liked music as much as she did, and that girl didn't really care about the writing part.

((No worries...you're not really behind though...in my opinion.))

((Gosh, this is why I keep coming back to you guys. You all are such great RPers! I always try my best to do your own posts justice.))

Yuko gently took the ring from Liam and gazed at it. A little hmmm came from her as she examined it. "This was your father's wedding band, I see. I'm sorry for your loss. He was a good man. He didn't deserve what happened to him, and neither did you."

Christoph eyed the white fox warily, but decided that it was harmless. After all, Liam's dog hung around in the Box enough, so it was alright if this girl's dog did as well. He'd never been able to understand why people insisted on keeping pets, though. Maybe it had to do with his longevity.

He poured Byron's order of double Jack on the rocks and handed it to him, saying, "Actually, the noisier it is, the less likely that people will hear your questions. Of course, that's just assuming you don't want others to know what you're interested in." He shrugged and held up his hands. "But it's your business."

Sometimes Christoph employed a little reverse psychology to learn what he wanted. It was interesting that Byron wanted to know about vampires. Christoph wanted to know why. Sometimes, people would come in and ask about vampires. Some were vampire hunters, others were writers seeking inspiration. There'd been that actor/playwright a couple centuries back, then that Mormon girl more recently. The actor had loved every bit of information while the girl had recoiled in horror and never came back. It was a shame, really. She'd been pretty. Christoph racked his head for a name, but couldn't remember. Something with an S, he was sure.

He glanced down the bar to see Yuko take something from Liam. With a sinking feeling, he said, "Please excuse me for a moment, I must go check on my guest," and nearly dashed to the end of the bar.

Christoph grabbed Yuko's wrist that held an intricately wrought ring, anger flashing in his eyes.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Yuko? This man works for me and I won't let you trick him into a contract like you did with me."

Yuko's gaze turned icy as she looked at Christoph.
"Let go of me, Christoph." He released her wrist, but didn't stop glaring at her.

Yuko set the ring on the bar, tracing it with a finger. "I granted your wish and you call it tricking you? Bitterness doesn't become you, Christoph dear. I simply gave you what you wanted in return for something of equal value, just as I would with anyone else." She turned her gaze to Liam and asked, "Would you like to know what happened to your father?"

"Yuko..." Christoph's tone was warning, dangerous. He might be in love with her, but he'd be damned before he let her mess with another person's life, not if he had the ability to prevent it.

"It's Liam's choice, Christoph, not yours. You're not his mother, let him be."
