slightly more answerable question is slightly more answerable!
i need to cast a spell of protection around a large group of trees, rocks, and water. what is the best way to do this? is/are there certain god/godess(es) that i should call upon to help me? what colors/smells/objects are associated with protection of large groups of trees rocks and water?

Okay before I can go any further on your question Rizu, what is your intent? Why does it need protection? A detail like that could make a huge impact.

Kasa is right. Details??? heart Some good incenses would be bayberry, woodruff, dragon's blood (copal) or even frankincense. Eagle and Hawk feathers are supposed to offer protection as well. Angelica root is used in some protection spells. It's my personal favorite. Vetiver wards malevolence, if you need it. Statue of a goose or a Swan will offer protection. They are said to be reliable, territorial, and very protective. They are used in animal totems in many spells. If you use stones or crystals, Diamonds, Chalcopryte, (or Peacock Stones) offer protection and avert unseen danger. They also offer strength and are said to have emotional healing components. Said to alleviate worry. (fakes will do just fine) Bay leaves protect against evil. Onion bulbs absorb evil. Garlic cloves repel evil. I don't have the protection pouch spell, but you can look it up or make up your own. All these are good components. Hope it'll help! heart

it needs protection against stupid people. there's a pair of kids that run around in it, destroying everything all willy-nilly, littering, driving those four-wheeled atv things i can't remember the name of, and just generally disrespecting it. i can look out my back window and seeing them using hammers to break down saplings, and chipping rocks, and leaving trash everywhere. the forest has done nothing to deserve the ill use of those little CENSOR, and i want to do anything i can to prevent future damage.

Who owns the plot of land? If they are on it illegally, then you can call the owner, the police, or both. If you're calling the police, wait til they go out on the 4-wheelers. Not only is it illegal to use those off your own property, the noise they cause can violate acceptable levels and you have a better chance of making it stick. If the owner is unaware of the damage occurring, then a call would alert them to what's being done. Do they have to cross your property to get to the area? See if you can talk your folks into putting up a block. Unfortunately, if they (or their parents) do own it, you will have to rely on the help of the other members of the guild. Just be careful who you ask to protect it- calling on Bear to guard it might end up being a full grown black bear sitting in the woods behind your house. And say what you like about swans; to me they are overgrown geese with a wicked temper >.>;;

Swans are nasty.....O.O But usually only really dangerous to people who are stupid. Don't pet them, and they'll leave you alone. Don't swim in their pond, and they'll leave you alone. Don't be within a 5-mile radius, and they'll leave you alone. rofl

You know, geese are pretty mean too. Though I've never encountered a swan outside of a zoo, so those could be hella worse.

I've been wondering for a while now if witch is a gender specific term. In modern fiction, it's usually used as one, and in modern day lingo it's treated as one. So I was wondering, is it really limited to only females?

It depends on who you ask, really. Most people seem to think not, while others think it is. I personally don't see it as gender-specific, but I'm not everyone, heh.

historically, it was just used to refer to a person who does magic. in folklore, a witch is usually represented by a grizzled, green, hag. i guess it just depends on where you're looking for information, and who you ask. biggrin

I think it would be fine. It seems that as long as it's your intent to celebrate Ostara, it shouldn't matter if you're late.
