Micheal shook his head. "He was prevented from giving up his wings by his two guardians. I've found out that he was put to study on earth as punishment for associating with a demon. He said he'd wait for me. It took me this long to heal and find an excuse and oppurtunity to come here." The demon tilted his head to one side as he looked up at Watari. "I don't have any idea where to look, or if he's even here anymore."

"Well, like I said before, akuma-san," Watari replied with a smile. In honesty, he didn't mind working with demons... it was making a contract with one that was always a killer. "If you tell me as much about yourself and this tenshi, then I'm sure I can research and dig until I find out his whereabouts. Research is my specialty, after all." Well, one of many... but who was really counting?

Micheal gave the blond a long measuring look. Did he dare trust this person, whatever he was? Black furred ears twitched as he thought, this man was no real threat to him, even if this was his place of power. The demon had no intention on giving away anything vital about who he was, not even Otori had known his true name. "Better make yourself comfortable," The cat said after a long pause. "It's a long story if you really are interested in all the details I'm willing to give. You will need more than the promise of help to get details about me."

Pining after that which can't be? Tsuzuki was appalled at the brashness of the doctor's statement. Muraki had always been one to go on about how he would never give up on Tsuzuki, how one day he would have him, no matter what, even if everybody else said it couldn't be. "You know...you really are a lot different now. The Muraki I know would never say such a thing. Besides, how can one know if it really isn't meant to be if they don't try? Maybe...maybe that's why I refuse to give up on you now..."

"Am I?" In truth, Muraki didn't feel any different than he had been before. His thoughts and ideas were the same... it was just that a large chunk of his memory was missing. Years gone... 'Had I changed in those years?' "Tsuzuki-san..." the doctor spoke softly, trying to think through how to phrase his question. "I... What was I like to you? Truthfully? You say I'm different, but I feel the same as I have always been."

"Well," Watari asked, sitting cross-legged in front of the cat. 003 flew in with a cup of coffee clutched precariously in her talons. Said cup was soon in the scientist's hand. "What more of a promise do you want?" the shinigami was wary, but willing. "I can offer little in the way of aid until I know what I need to look for."

"You were so passionate and brilliant then!" the shinigami blurted out without even thinking, then he blushed a deep crimson. Had he really thought such of Muraki? Even after all the torment, fear, anger, loathing? Yes, he had. That was a lot of why he felt so strongly toward the doctor now. "You...you always went after what you wanted, going to any lengths to get it, and I do mean any lengths. It was almost admirable, had it not been done in such a...well...twisted manner."

The cat curled his tail away from his paws and then back again. Hunkering down in a typical feline pose. "I've already told you the beginning of it, I was sent here specifically to find and obtain the scholarly angel. I studied him for weeks learning his habits and routine. Mainly because he was alot more wary than you would think. I needed the extra time to find the right oppurtunity to approach him." Micheal laughed, an oddly self depreciating sound coming from a demon. "The little b*****d knew I was watching him the whole time. He asked me if I was done spying on him and if I wanted to talk. Imagine, an angel asking me to talk. Well what else could I do? I went and talked to him, oddly enough I found that I was more curious than anything. One thing I still haven't figured out is how he actually got me to take a soul. After that, I couldn't actually take him to hell like I was supposed to. You'd think that apart from a few menial details it would be a happily ever after story but his guardians found out exactly who he was talking to. And that was when it hit the fan."

"What do you mean you don't know how he got you to take a soul?" Watari asked in confusion, sipping his coffee. "That would be a rather big deal to someone in your position, or his, since it would give you a solid grounding on the mortal plane, I would think..." Needless to say, the scientist was paying close attention to detail.

"I would still do whatever was necessary, within the realm of my abilities." Muraki replied, watching Tsuzuki closely. "Are you suggesting that I am not as passionate or brilliant now?" Was he? The doctor literally had to think about this for a long moment as he mulled over the shinigami's words. He was still passionate, passionate about finding a cure for Ukyou's illness and by exhausting his resources to the max... and wasn't everyone at the hospital always saying how brilliant he was... even when he lost a patient? So what was different? "Could..." the silver haired man stopped for a moment. "Could it be that this twisted manner... was what made me brilliant and passionate in your eyes?"

Micheal laughed and rubbed a paw across his face. "You know, I never really figured that part out. What happened to it, I'm not really sure. At least after his guardians 'killed' me at any rate. Imagine that, a copy of me made of all goodness and light flitting about somewhere." Chuckling, he looked up at Watari as if he'd just thought of something. "Or maybe that was his intention all along." The black cat growled, tail lashing back and forth. "It would figure that was what he intended, that or his guardians put him up to it."

That had been something Tsuzuki hadn't expected to hear, nor had he given such an idea any thought. All he could do in response was stare, purple eyes wide. After a moment, the shinigami finally blinked. "I...I think that it did make a difference, but that wasn't the entirety of it...there was just something fundamentally different in you, as if merely being in your presence made it seem as if I was standing in the hottest flames. Oh...oh gods! I am a fool! I loved you then and wouldn't allow myself to admit it, and now I've lost you forever, and once again it is all thanks to my own incompetence!" Tsuzuki was glad there was a divider between them and the cab driver, otherwise the driver would surely think the madmen, what with the sort of talk they were having. Then another epiphany hit. Tsuzuki had in his wallet a photo. A photo he had taken without permission from a file in Tatsumi's office. The very fact that he had this photo proved just how in denial Tsuzuki had been, but that was beside the point. "Muraki...look..." he pulled his wallet out and removed the photo. The image was of Muraki kissing Tsuzuki passionately on the Queen Cammilia. Hisoka had snapped the photo as evidence to take back, though everybody had to admit the image was, well, rather steamy. Praying for some recognition from the doctor, Tsuzuki held the photo out to him, hoping it might stir something in the silver haired man.

Looking at the photo, Muraki took the 'evidence' and studied it for a long time. "Gomen nasai..." the doctor eventually whispered, handing the image back. "I... I'm afraid I don't re... I don't remem..." Wincing, Muraki grabbed his head with one hand as he doubled over. It was like someone were shoving an icepick into his brain, driving it deeper and deeper with each passing second. "I... ittai..." gasping softly, Kazutaka couldn't help but raise his other hand up as well, pressing his head between his palms as if to squeeze the pain out. Dinner, it seemed, was now going to be cut dreadfully short... because Muraki collapsed onto Tsuzuki's lap... Completely unconscious.

"Wait so... there's another you?" Watari asked suddenly, liking this sudden train of thought. "If there's another like you, it should be far easier to find out where your copy is. IF, and this is a rather big if, but if we're able to locate him, there's a chance he might know where this Tenshi is or he may even be living with said Tenshi!" All he'd have to do is check the Hall of Candles, and that didn't need Emna-sama's permission to do. Hakushaku would allow it... for the right price, of course.

The black cat growled at that thought. "If that were the case, it would be better if they stayed out of my reach."
His tail lashed back and forth, reflecting his restlessness. "The other me would not live long or have a pleasant death. As for Otori, that i where it gets complicated. I'd want him to answer for his part of this." From the dark tone in his voice, it didn't seem to bode well for anyone who made him angry.

What had he done now? When Muraki's head hit his lap, it was all Tsuzuki could do to keep from panicking. Should he take the doctor to a hospital? Or should he try to treat the man on his own? Perhaps it was a bit reckless, but for some reason Tsuzuki felt he needed to deal with this on his own. The timing and location couldn't have been much better though as the cab came to a stop in front of the restaurant, which happened to be right beside a very nice hotel. Tossing money at the cab driver, the shinigami ignored the man as he was asked if help was needed. Picking Muraki up with ease, Tsuzuki quickly carted the silver haired man into the hotel and up to the front desk. "Um...my friend has taken ill. I need a room. He...he's ust suffering from exhaustion." The desk attendant nodded and quickly gave Tsuzuki a key, saying she would come by later to take down his information and payment, being very understanding of the situation. Black coat billowing behind him, Tsuzuki made his way down the hall and into the room at top speed, slamming and locking the door behind him before carefully laying Muraki on the soft Western style bed. "Kazutaka....Kazutaka..." he called softly, gently shaking the doctor's shoulders.

"Then I just keep you away from this other you." Watari reasoned, actually liking this idea. "I can easily find out who this man is, just by knowing that he looks like you, it may take a matter of hours, but no more than a day before I can get the desired information. Then I've just got to investigate the man directly." the scientist nodded, smiling. "Simple really... a lot easier than you scaring the s**t out of everyone you meet."
~ ~ ~
You are slow, aren't you? I threw it assuming you would duck. Look at you... like a little wounded animal.
I do have interests outside of you, you know.
You wound me with those eyes... those eyes... they're beautiful, you know.
Here, they're "Red Queen" roses. I chose them just for you. Red roses signify passion... I hope to see you in full bloom this evening as well...
Let's wager something more interesting... than chips, shall we? Your body?
I mean to do shameful things to your beautiful body...
Tonight, you're mine...
What're you tyring to do to me? It's not easy... to reattach optical nerves... Tsuzuki-san...
Damn... I shouldn't have grown my hair out. Hair in my eyes always blows my timing.
I didn't die, Tsuzuki-san. I was in suspended animation. For years now, I've been drinking non-lethal doses of various poisons in order to build up a tolerance. I've mixed them with food for ages... I'm resistant to a great many toxins. This time I ingested ten times the lethal dosage, so... I reduced my body functions to the lowest level and focused my energy on recovering my strength.
Tsuzuki-san! you were worried about me, weren't you?
In order to completely regain my strength, I had to absorb some of your energy... if I'd asked for it, you wouldn't have given it to me, would you? Besides... your energy is of such superior quality. It's concentrated... and sweet. The smallest taste stokes my inner fires.
At first I thought just seeing you was enough. But then... I ached to touch. And now... I want you so badly. Your power... you fuel my desire... you drive me crazy. There's just something about you.
Peyote... a hallucinogen used in the religious rituals of South America. I developed a new strain... allowing for higher doses without lethal consequences... those who ingest it are as easily manipulated as puppets.
It's true... men don't need to be in love... to express themselves physically.
That's so like you, Tsuzuki-san... you're very particular when it comes to people dying... your spirit is broken whenever someone is killed in front of you... I enjoy seeing that... it's hypocritical... it disgusts me...
Goodbye, Tsuzuki-san. I promise... a million roses... when next we meet.
Just like I remember you, Tsuzuki-san.
Grey eyes snapped open, the pupil of the left obviously dilated. Muraki didn't say anything. He simply stared up at Tsuzuki, as if not even seeing the man. As if looking past him. But then he spoke... His voice was so soft, barely heard... Yet the tears that slipped from his true eye were impossible to miss.
"Kill me..."
Muraki's voice paused before he gasped in a breath. Arms reached up, grabbing onto Tsuzuki's own arms near the shoulders from the side. "Tsuzuki-san... what have I done? I... I killed... so... so..." The doctor couldn't finish his sentence as the sheer shock of those memories flooding back to him assaulted his entire being, body and soul. "Onegai, Tsuzuki-san... kill me... I don't... deserve... to live after... after what I've..." yet once again, he couldn't bring himself to say it...
He had killed many people aboard that cruise liner... And it was memories of that time, which now plagued the amnesia-stricken man.

"You remember!" Tsuzuki whispered, both shocked and appalled by what he had caused. Muraki's hands squeezed his shoulders tightly, and a part of Tsuzuki was grateful for the feeling, for being touched in any fashion by the doctor. Even so, the tears, the look of absolute horror on the other man's face...it broke Tsuzuki's heart into a billion pieces. "Shhhh...." he soothed. "Please...Kazutaka...please don't cry. Please don't ask for death, don't be like me! I...I don't want you to go, I forgive you! Please please please don't ask something so impossible of me." Sparkling tears were trailing from the corners of Tsuzuki's eyes now as well. Without warning, the shinigami pressed himself down on top of Muraki, who was still lying flat on the bed. Trembling slightly, Tsuzuki held onto Muraki, holding him close and whispering every comfort he could think of, professing over and over his forgiveness for the doctor's transgressions. Now it was a question of if the stricken man could forgive himself.
