"We have a plan. Rook, Maya, and one other go after the less obvious powers. You, Sam and Jeffery go and find the more obvious ones. The idea being that someone like Rook, who has a very hard to dismiss power brings those who lack such a power a little closer to listening to what we have to say, while those like you and Sam, who have somewhat quiter powers talk to those who are more... Apparent, and get them to work with us, or, at least get away from the Keepers." Marcus replied, standing up, "What do you think, Kat? Anything I may have overlooked? You and Rook know more about this world of powers than I."
Rook shook his head.
"No, the plan seems pretty solid, unless there's something I missed."
At the mention of her name, Maya perked, listening to the events that had transpired, deciding that people talking was more interesting than trying to coax information of a particularly unresponsive potted plant.

Roxanna nodded, "Seems like a fair setup. Perhaps Olivia would enjoy some street time and go with Rook and Maya?" She glanced back at Marcus, "I suppose that means, you, Jarred, and I will be manning the base...so to speak, or branching it out as needed."

"It seems functional to me." Kat said, though her eyes slid over to Jeffery, waiting for him to object at the idea of working with her. She still had no idea why he had showed up at the apartment in the first place, considering their last conversation.

Jeffery shot a glare at Kat, which didn't go unnoticed by Jarred.
"Perhaps Jeffery should head to the school instead and then contact us from there? We go after the one's we might know just by looking at it, Sam and Jeffery may know a small handful, and then we go to those while he brings back the directory, you all calling us with the locations."
Jeffery nodded his agreement. "I don't have any power, and unless the kid's in one of my classes, any authority I hold would be doubtful."

Rook took a long moment thinking on Jarred's words before speaking up.
"Jarred... I think you have a power. And I think it's going to hurt us doing this task."

"No. I think it's some kind of power dampening. That's why my hand got stuck as a towel yesterday, and why Maya was wondering about why it was hard to talk to your furniture. I've been doing some simple changes since the towel incident. Hair color here, clothing here... It takes a lot more effort to make it work, but it doesn't lock it out totally. Which, for us that know, now, we can cope with it... But, if we're trying to tell kids about their powers, and you're there to dampen it, it makes us look crazy." He replied, wrapping his finger in his mustache.

Just saying that maybe you can take Olivia and I can take Adam?" Rook replied, starting to pace, the whole Jeffery issue totally lost on him, "The idea with Jeffery doing things at school isn't a bad idea... So, you, Sam and Olivia, me, Adam and Maya. Seems like it could work."

Jarred considered the argument, nodding his head thoughtfully. "If that is the case, though I'm going to doubt it, it wouldn't matter if I went with, say, Kat, or someone who's isn't showing the kids their powers, but letting the kid show us theirs. Even if they can't get it to work because of me 'negation field', they'd know they had it."
Jarred shrugged. "It seems more like a coincidence than anything. There's no real evidence, or reason to think I would have one."

"Am I the only one that recalls the school had something an explosion and is going to be closed for a fair amount of time?" Kat asked.
She paused, glancing at Jarred, "no evidence? You're the only one I've kissed and failed to connect with while giving the same result with multiple tests. Coincidence be damned."

"Two powers work less around me, that's it? I still got the flavor, and you still were able to move. It could be any number of other things." Jarred said grumpily. He didn't mention Maya's power, but that was due to him thinking she was more crazy that a super.
"I can get the list, it's not a problem." Jeffery said, moving towards the door. "Tell me what you all figure out, I'll go get it while you argue."

"Three, actually." Roxanna responded briefly. "I notice quite a difference in effort when using my powers in your presence." She gave him an apologetic smile, "Sorry, Jarred, I would have to side with the others."

Kat watched Jeffery walk out the door then looked back at Jarred. "A number of other things? You're acting fairly cranky at the thought of having a power, Jarred. It's not that big of a deal, and if anything it sounds like you just have a very passive ability. There are plenty of people who have powers that are indistinguishable from simple talents, and never learn the difference. You can debate whether you have one or not, but if there is an odd coincidence that people's abilities are dampened in your presence, we may as well use that to our advantage. Even if it is just us three....or four, or however many are affected"
