"I... really have absolutely no clue what the hell you are trying to tell me, Shocker," Keegan said, his tone flat in response to the Raichu's worried cries. "Sorry, but I'm not fluent in Raichuese." Had his mind not been already somewhat muddled by the alcoholic influence he probably would have put two and two together and realized that she wanted them to get the hell out of Dodge before it was too late, but even as she tried to hide behind him he remained clueless. That is, until he heard her voice, and he looked up, feeling a cold chill creep down his spine as he saw Mai step out from behind the shadows. Her words were cold, empty, and just that: words. He wasn't going to let her get to him this time. "Speaking of holes," he replied quickly, slipping his hands into his pockets, keeping his expression calm even as Shocker disappeared back into a Pokeball, "who gave you permission to crawl outta yours?" For a moment, his gaze landed on the red and white sphere in her hand, trying to figure out what Mai was doing with Kasiya's Raichu, but before any ideas could come to mind he found himself gazing back up into her icy blue eyes. A slight breeze picked up, and Keegan caught the scent of wine in the air, and he smirked. Apparently he wasn't the only one hitting the bottle this evening. "Does your big bad boss know you're outside this late?" he asked mockingly, quite enjoying this. "And that you've been drinking, too. Tsk tsk, little Mai's been a naughty girl," he went on, waggling a finger at her.
=====
Marina didn't seem to appreciate Starrie's agile dodge nearly as much as Miharu did, and she frowned a little. "Whatever, no biggie, so you dodged one attack, big whoop." She smirked and pointed at the Starmie. "Now Seel! Use Ice Shard! Let's see 'em try to avoid that one!" The Sea Lion Pokemon clapped it's flippers together and did an underwater somersault before the small horn on it's head began to glow, and suddenly a barrage of sharp, pointed icicles were hurled through the water at the Mysterious Pokemon with incredible speed.

"Ice Shard...?" Miharu repeated, only able to watch as the shards of ice sped through the water and smashed into her Starmie, though the resulting damage was minimal. "Well if that's all it does, then by all means, please continue using that move," Miharu retorted quickly. "And speaking of dodging, you won't be able to dodge this one. Starrie, Swift attack!" Starrie launched itself upwards, flying up out of the water. It's core gem flickered brightly before a stream of bright, golden stars began to shoot down and pepper the water, though once they'd gone under the surface one by one they each honed in on the Seel, who could do nothing to avoid it.

Marina didn't like this move either, though she didn't let it show as much as it had before. "Is that all?" she countered, eying the Starmie as it landed back in the water. "Okay then, if you want to play that way... Seel, show them your special move!" Marina's voice became filled with excitement and she was nearly hopping up and down in anticipation. Seel shook off the attack he'd just taken and swam back, taking careful aim at the Starmie before his horn began to glow once again, though this time it fired a bright, multicoloured beam at Starrie. By the time Miharu realized it was a Signal Beam, it was far too late to counter it.

"I see. I don't know about spiritual well-being, but I do agree that rest is an important part of good training. But relaxation is only acceptable after hours of rigorous training. After this tea break that's exactly what I'll be doing." He said plainly as he took a sip of his tea, he had to admit it was really quite good. He gave the Meganium a quick once over, he was impressed at how healthy and strong it looked. And more so that that he was impressedwith it's mannerism."It's a pleasure. This is Snorunt, she's hasn't been with me for long. I suspect she was abandoned because I found her far from her native section of Hoenn, near the beach actually. But I sense promise in her, so I've decided to train her myself." He said as he looked down at Snorunt who had gotten rather messy from the chocolate cookie. He sighed, taking another sip of his tea. "You have some impressive pokemon Erika. Once again, I commend you on your victory." He slowed his breathing as he relaxed, the tea, the setting, the company, this was very much to his liking.

Robin had watched with amusement as Luffy and Raz played there little game of catch and eat. At her feet Brook was looking depressed as he bumped the orange peel around. He was not happy with his new form and he desperately wished that he could get stronger faster so he could get out of it. Black*Star was actually training himself doing handstands on the ground with his small limbs. He couldn't become greater then god if he didn't become stronger.

Looking down at the determined Black*Star Robin figured that training might not be that bad of an idea. They hadn't landed yet and when they did she was going to go shopping for a new outfit. Ok so maybe she didn't have a lot of money but hey she would figure something out. "All right guys breakfast is over lets get some training done. We need to be at our best so we can see all of our friends." Getting up Robin escorted her gang out to the front deck of the boat. Looking around at all of the things on the deck Robin tried to think of a way that she could train her team.

"Ok Black*Star, I want you to keep training your muscles. Your still young and we need you to keep training. Raz, lets train your new psychic so take one of those little floaty things and toss it into the air and catch it with your psychic. Brook, lets practice your aim with your Bullet Seed. So umm... try to hit what Raz is tossing around." She didn't really know what else he could aim for, at least this would be moving. Turning to Luffy she gave him a wide grin and put her hands on her hips. "All right its your turn buddy. I know we don't usually train but I think its time we start. So lets work on dodging some things. Unlike your rubber namesake you can't take tons of hits so we need to learn how to dodge. So umm... I am going to throw stuff at you." Looking around Robin tried to find something to throw at Luffy to make him dodge it. Unfortunately there wasn't anything for her to throw. "Ohhh, ummm. Ok, well..." Worrying her bottom lip she wondered what she would do about that. Looking over at Brook who getting in place to shoot seeds she thought of a better idea. "Ahh, Brook wait! How about you shoot at Luffy?"

The small Skiploom just looked at Robin for a moment her suggestion sounded strangely appealing to him. Luffy loved to fight and take all of his food. Now would be a great time to get back at the happy go lucky Ambipom. Grinning the Skiploom rode the breeze over to where Robin was standing. Without even waiting for a signal he took aim and started firing the seeds at Luffy each seed pelting the two tailed monkey continuously.

Robin watched her pokemon train with pride in her eyes. Her new and old pokemon doing there best to make themselves better. They were all so strong in her eyes and she knew that even if they won or lost they would always stick together no matter what.

As she watched her pokemon train themselves she could tell that their confidence was growing with each moment. Confidence was really important when it came to battles. If they didn't have any confidence they would never have the will to fulfill their dreams and Robin wanted nothing more then for them to do just that. Grinning she leaned back against the ships rail and relaxed a bit.

"Good morning Robin." Came a warm voice from Robin's left.

Glancing over she spotted Jake standing there with a a weird looking red pokemon with strange balls on its head. Grinning at him she waved him over to where she was resting. "Morning Jake! I hope you slept well. And good morning umm... I am not sure what pokemon that is exactly." She giggled slight as she looked over at the cute boy.

Joining her on the rail Jake grinned at her before pointing at his weird red pokemon that was following him. "I did sleep well. As for what pokemon that is well his name is Bret and he is a Magmar."

The two of them stood there for a moment watching Robin's pokemon train for a moment before Robin broke the silence again. "So what do you think Sinnoh is going to be like? Professor Rowan won't tell me anything about it." Robin pouted.

"Wow you know Professor Rowan?" Jake asked amazed that this unassuming girl knew someone that famous.

"Well, I sort of do. He gave a speech at my school once about pokemon and after we talked a little and he gave me his email address. We have really just emailed each other a lot." Robin her self looked a little embarrassed about being asked about it. At least it was true though, and not something she had just made up.

"Oh well, I guess that is something. As for Sinnoh, well I don't know what it is going to be like. I hear there are tons of new pokemon though and some pokemon are getting extra evolutions, kinda like your Ambipom over there." Jake said as he pointed over to Luffy who was doing his best to avoid the bruising seeds that Brook was gleefully shooting at him.

"Headbutt!" Tyler commanded, his frail confidence echoing through his order, ringing like a sonata in Mike's ears. Anne however, was not so intent on feigning prowess, instead quietly muttering her attack.

The Seel lowered his head and lunged forth, Tyler once again aiming for the Magmar. Anne's Poliwhirl too aimed for the Fire Pokemon with a small stream of water. Napalm threw up his hands to guard, protecting himself against most of the Seel's attack, the Water Gun striking his fiery body and evaporating with an offensive hiss. The Magmar grit his teeth, and in retaliation, brought down a flaming fist on the Water Pokemon's head. The Seel yelped and hopped away, only to be blasted by Proton's Thunderbolt. Tyler roared in anger, returning his Pokemon. Anne now stood alone against Mike, her diminutive Pokemon overshadowed by the boy's.

"I...I don't...Tyler!" she wailed. "I don't know what to do!" Anne looked back at where her boy was, but saw only the delightful scenery of Seafoam Islands. "TYLER?!" The girl screamed, returned her Pokemon and fled, leaving Mike victorious...and alone.

The boy stood there, his accomplished grin soon fading away to one of utter loneliness. "Come back..." he said softly, tears beginning to form in his eyes. "I just wanted to have some fun..."

Sasha didn't notice Mazarin's initial muttering thanks to her earbud headphones connected to her Pokedex, which was playing a rather catchy pop tune at the moment. It was only when the irritant began to shout that the girl turned to look, popping the right bud from her ear. She half listened to what he had to say before whirling around and smacking him across the face. "I'm not joining your stupid treehouse organization you peasant! For once in your miserable life could you ever shut up!" Her green eyes flared up intensely as she screamed at the boy. "Here you are, tied to a tree, completely at my mercy and the first thing you do is start mouthing off! I don't understand how you could be such an idiot. Such a pervert! Such a worthless waste of space!" She smacked him again, for good measure. "You think you're the hottest thing on Earth, but I can all but guarantee that any woman would rather marry a Gyarados than be treated to lunch by a filthy mongrel like YOU! You'd have to pay me to even tell you what day it is! Everything about you is nothing short of repulsive. Your voice, your attitude, your posture, there is nothing about you that doesn't cause my blood to boil, and my lunch to rise up from my stomach!" Sasha lunged forward and grabbed the boy's cheeks harshly, her nails digging in slightly.

"I don't think I've ever hated a single person more in my entire life. You're not getting that date, and it's because of my own stupid generosity that I didn't just dump you at the police station for you to rot." Sasha had to restrain herself from beating the kid with a nearby rock, and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. "Now, here's how it's going to happen. When I let go, you are going to tell me where you last saw Mike, where he's going, and how I can catch up to him. I want every piece of information you have on him. Anything other than that, and you stay tied to this tree until the Ekans find you." Her other hand brandished the tazer, its tips crackling with electricity. "Mike saved my life, he's a good person. He doesn't need unfeeling dregs like you following him around and stressing him out even more than he already is. It's in fact because of people like you that he even had that little episode yesterday.

Now. Where. Is. He?"

Digger growled angrily when he saw Levi get back up after being slammed by his Brick Break attack, and he crouched low, ready to attack again. Levi, still swayed by the effects of her confusion still saw the Sandslash as her enemy, and she wasn't about to lose this fight. Digger, seeing that the Marshtomp wasn't giving in at all growled again and pounced, his right arm reared back as he prepared to take her out with a Crush Claw. He'd show her that he deserved to be a part of Kasiya's team! Seeing the "Duskull" moving in for another attack Levi opened her mouth and readied an Ice Beam, waiting until the last possible second to fire it. She felt the Crush Claw hit her and at once she knew it was over, though for a split second she saw things clearly and with a horrible sinking feeling she realized she'd been attacking Digger. The Sandslash's reckless attack had left him wide open to the Ice Beam and he felt the burning cold slam into him. His momentum carried him into Leviathan and the two Pokemon rolled across the ground before coming to a stop, having KO'd each other with those last two attacks. The Duskull nearly busted a gut laughing at the sight of the two of them, looking over at his pals as they were busy contending with the human's remaining three Pokemon. Should it help? Remaining undecided for the time being, it went invisible, deciding to watch the battle for now.

The small scuffle between Digger and Leviathan had gone unnoticed by Kasiya until she happened to glance over at the two to check on them, and she noticed that they were both lying on the ground, unconscious. "Levi! Digger!" she shouted, but couldn't risk going over to check on them at the moment, so she recalled them both into their Pokeballs, wondering what could have happened to them. From what she could see though, there were three Duskull remaining, and she still had three Pokemon that could fight. "Okay guys, we've got 'em on the ropes now!" she called, looking to Rosemary. She was the only one that would be able to hit all three of them at once, and she smiled. "Okay, Rosemary, get ready to use Razor Leaf again! Flash and Twilight, you guys back her up with Helping Hand!" She wasn't sure if Helping Hand would work twice, but it was worth a try. The Jolteon and Umbreon both began to glow with a fiery orange aura again, though before Rosemary had a chance to fire off her Razor Leaf, two of the Duskull moved forward, raising their arms high above their heads. A sinister trail of shadowy energy, similar to a Night Shade but far darker streaked forward from beneath both of them, one striking Twilight and the other hitting Rosemary. The Bayleef cried out and staggered back, but she kept strong and once again sent out the volley of razor sharp leaves, making two clean hits on the Duskull that had attacked. They both yelped had floated back, each having suffered massive damage. Neither of them thought twice before fleeing the seen, leaving just that Duskull as well as the invisible one.

Mai frowned, clearly not amused. "Do not patronize me, you insignificant little vermin," she snapped, quickly putting the Raichu's Pokeball into the pocket of her long overcoat. "What gives you the right to speak to me that way?" Fury burned in her cheeks, though she couldn't understand why she suddenly felt so angry. The redhead was barely a blip on the Team Rocket radar; an idle threat, so what was it about him that infuriated her so? He was right about the wine though, and she slowly calmed herself, realizing that it was probably the biggest contributing factor in her over-emotional state. She closed her eyes and scoffed. "Why am I even wasting my time with a nothing like you? You can't even compete with any of your friends. Not Kasiya, or Mike, Kilik, or even that Jaeshan kid. You're nothing but a weak and pathetic loser. It's no wonder you're all alone."

Meganium cooed happily, continuing to stand alongside her trainer. Erika offered her a tea biscuit and the Herb Pokemon eagerly accepted it, content to munch on her treat while kneeling next to the Gym Leader. "Thank you, Crenu, that is very polite of you to say," Erika replied, sipping her own tea again. "It's taken much work to get to where I am today, though I must admit that I am quite happy with my progress." She stood up, taking a handkerchief from her sleeve and made her way over to where Crenu and Snorunt were sitting. "She's quite cute," Erika remarked, kneeling down and reaching out with the cloth to gently wipe away the chocolate from the messy little Snorunt. "I bet you'll be a real powerhouse someday, won't you?" she asked, her tone quite serious even with her motherly actions. "It's terrible that someone would abandon a Pokemon though," she added finally, standing up and returning to her seat. "She was lucky to run into you." The gym leader smiled warmly, and continued to sip her tea.

Slapping hurt. Nails hurt. He was starting to realize this. And words: those hurt too. The last time somebody yelled at him like that was Kilik, and he's his best friend. Probably the only friend he's ever had. Did nobody really like him? Was he everything that Sasha just said he was? He thought that he was funny. At least, Alastor thought so. He tried to restrain himself from saying that the police are beneath his organization, but he held his tongue. Mazarin looked down at the ground, at his feet and tried to fight back the tears that were forming in his eyes. He was silent for a moment.

"Before I begin, I'm nothing," he bit his lip, "nothing like Giovanni. I want to stop him just as much as the next guy, barring said next guy is a part of Team Rocket. In which case, maybe the guy after that." Mazarin lifted his head, and looked her in the face. "I don't know where your precious hero is, got it? Here's the dealio, psycho." He cleared his throat. "He came out of some building in Vermilion City. I want to say it was the Gym, but it could have been the Pokemon Center. I don't really remember cause I just dropped a Shuckle on his head and I thought it was pretty damn funny. Anyway!" he flinched, "I dragged him unconscious to the Psycho House up in Saffron. Y'know the place. Well, he just flipped and lost it when his mom and some blondie with a Persian - she was at the Beach Party, one of your friends - wanted to get him out. He blew up half the building and escaped. I battled him, then my organization just pulled me out of there. That's the last I saw of him, I swear."

He paused for a moment then sighed. "Now will you please let me go? This rope is starting to chaff my arms and my legs are squeezin' my boys together. I told you everything I know." Maz wiggled a bit in the ropes, "I want my Pokemon back too."

Snorunt flinched a little bit when Erika approched her, but her voice was soothing and gentle, and she got the feeling that she was kind. Snorunt stopped feeling nervous and even smiled, giggling happily at Erika's words and kind gesture. Crenu sat and watched as Erika wiped the chocolate from Snorunt, nodding. "Yes, I believe she will be." What was that all about? That was a fairly kind thing to do, And Snorunt seemed to take to her almost instantly. Crenu still didn't know much about Erika, but her way with pokemon and the presence they seemed to pick up from her...she was starting to intrigue him. She was more than just a strong trainer it seemed, she'd definitely achieved a level of understanding with her pokemon and pokemon in general. Well, they just don't make anyone gym leader after all. Crenu finished his tea, but remained seated. "I'm not sure I believe in luck Lady Erika. But as long as Snorunt works hard I can guarantee that she'll become strong." Crenu remembered when he also thought about abandoning Snorunt, but he felt a bond with her that made him decide to take a chance and keep her. Still, her childish behavior did make him wonder if he'd made the right call.

It was now eight in the morning. Four hours had passed as if it were nothing, and Giovanni had done nothing productive all morning. He went with is normal morning regiment: his usual breakfast - eggs, sausage, cereal, orange juice. A balanced meal - made by his top chefs, and trained down in the weight room with his Machamp for an hour. In the shower, he used his normal water activated gel cleanser, followed by a honey almond body scrub and for his face, an exfoliating gel scrub. When he got out, he took a long look in the mirror before applying his herb mint facial mask which he always leaves on for ten minutes - no more, no less - as he styles his hair. His after shave lotion contains little alcohol, because he fears that the alcohol will dry his face out and make him look older. To wrap it up, he applies an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. When he peels the mask off, his face is clear and smooth, as it always is.

Giovanni believed in taking care of himself before all others. Despite what people thought, he was a man who had a routine. A man who does the same thing each morning in order to always look his best. A sharp man is a smart man. Each move he makes is carefully calculated, whether it be a plan or just eating his breakfast. At 8:30, a challenger entered his Gym. Giovanni took a step forward to his balcony. silhouetted by the white light behind him, and looked down. The opposing trainer was young, and wore typical teenage clothes. The boy looked like he had been through a lot. His clothes were tattered, and his face was dirty. It was a stark contrast compared to the man who was in a freshly pressed suit, and very clean. Few words were exchanged before the boy sent out a Mightyena. It looked fierce.

"I'll choose my powerful Tyranitar," he said, tossing the Pokeball out onto the battlefield. From it came his large green tyrant. Giovanni's Tyranitar instilled fear into the hearts of trainers everywhere - just looking at it was enough to scare them. It was bigger than most Tyranitar and a very dark green, symbolizing it's great power. The Rock-type slammed his foot into the ground. A Sandstorm brewed almost instantly. Mightyena was lost in the storm and before he knew it, the canine Pokemon was thrown out of the spinning tower of sand, knocked out.

One by one, the boy's Pokemon fell until all three were defeated with ease by the fearsome Tyranitar. When Giovanni recalled his beast, the sandstorm softly subsided. It barely looked like a battle had even occurred. "Come back when you can provide me with a challenge," he said simply before turning around. The curtains that were pulled back to show his office slowly closed, the ominous white light that was behind him gone. The boy left the Gym, the door slamming shut behind him. Giovanni shook his head.

"I defeated him easily," he pondered, "Now why do those children provide me so much trouble?"

Sam entered the Center in a huff. She was angry that Star had been so harsh on Devlin. He didn't deserve it, she could stand to be a tad nicer. She thrust Devlin's pokeball at the Nurse, then as an afterthought gave her Miles as well. She then turned around.

"Cmon Star, you need to get healed?" Star was nowhere to be seen. Sam rolled her eyes and looked at Nurse Joy. "One second, my Marshtomp wandered off somewhere." She ran through the center, glancing under each table and chair. She didn't start worrying just yet. Star was smart, she was probably off sulking somewhere where Sam couldn't find her. Sam went back to the Nurse. "Have you seen a Marshtomp anywhere?" The Nurse was putting Sam's other pokemon in the machine.

"No, I'm sorry, I haven't seen one. At least not in here. I saw one swimming out in the ocean though. I thought it was interesting because they aren't native to this region, right?" Sam stiffened.

"Yeah, thanks, I'll be back later." Sam ran for the door, where her parents were just coming in. She skidded to a stop. "Hey where were you?"

"Oh sweetie, we got a little bored earlier, so we decided to go out to lunch! Sorry! What's the matter?"

"Star's missing. I think she may have ran away. I need to find her." Her mom clamped her hand over her move.

"Oh no! A tragedy! We'll organize a search team! As you know, your Daddy knows Officer Jenny, he can figure it all out."

"No, Mom, it's fine. I can find her on my own. I have an idea where she went." Sam went down the beach to the shoreline. She scanned the water. She didn't see anything that looked like Star. She sighed, and held back frustrated tears. Why did Star do this? Sam thought back to the battle. She couldn't see anything she had done wrong. She shook her head. She could ask Star when she found her. She sat on the shoreline. Her dad came and sat next to her.

"We'll find her Goose. Who knows? Maybe her skin was dry, she went for a swim."

"No...I don't think that's it. I think she's mad at me."

"Why would she be?"

"Well we were battling and I blew up at her for being way too harsh on Devlin. She didn't even give him a chance. I told her how he had just hatched and he had been through alot."

"Well...She has too you know. She probably didn't take kindly to you showering Devlin with so much attention while you ignored her." He shrugged. "She's a diva right? She always wants that attention. You gotta give it to her...or else she'll go berserk." He tickled her. "She'll take you hostage, and I'll have to bail you out." Sam wriggled away from her dad, laughing.

"Hey! St-s-stop that! It t-tickles!" She fell over laughing. She watched the waves crest as she regained her breath. "Hey...Hey! That's Star's fin! She is out there!" Sam took off her pack, and splashed into the ocean. She swam out to meet her unhappy Marshtomp, who, seeing her trainer coming, took off at full speed for the northern end of the island.

Xipil jumped up high, and then punched the Snubbull with blinding speed. It winced slightly at the pain.

"Snubbull, use...erm...Bite!" The Snubbull opened it's huge mouth, and nearly swallowed Xipil's head. Xipil flailed about loudly in it's mouth. Eztli was shocked.

"That...is rather disgusting. Xipil, use Smokescreen." Xipil exhaled thick smoke into the Snubbull's mouth, but even as it's eyes teared up and it choked, it held on stubbornly. Xipil tried to punch it's face, but her stubby arms couldn't reach far enough. Her spikes barely scratched at it's body.

"I knew you would be a good choice! Now while you have her, Thunder Fang!" The Snubbull's large teeth glowed blue, and several tiny lighting bolts flew from them. It bit down harder on Xipil, who flinched each time one struck her. She shuddered.

"Xipil, you need to get out of there! Ember!" Xipil, starting to get a bit claustrophobic and alot disgusted, exhaled furious flames. They scorched the inside of the Fairy Pokemon's mouth. It screeched, and let go of Xipil's head. Xipil tumbled out, covered in saliva and sparks. She lay twitching on the ground for a moment. The girl smirked.

"Hmph...Let me think...Fire-Pokemon....So what'll it be? Ground or Water?"

"What?" Eztli scrambled for a strategy. 'There's no way her Snubbull can know so many elemental moves! But best to be safe.' She though about possible moves from her limited knowledge of TM's. 'It's probably either Dig or Water Pulse...Both can be found in all sorts of places.' But which would she choose? Each required a different strategy, and Ezlti needed to choose fast. "Xipil! Hurry, and whip up a Smog! Then Smokescreen!" A strange mix of dense purple smog and thick black smoke came out of Xipil's beak. It sank towards the Snubbull.

"Ah! Snubbull! Hurry and use Water Pulse! Blast through the smoke!" The Snubbull formed a tight ball of water in it's hands, then released it. It quickly grew to a huge wave, but it most of it was absorbed by the smoke and smog combo. Even so, it would still be formidable against Xipil.

"Xipil, Mach Punch. Through the wave!" Through the wave? Was she crazy? Xipil braced herself. She powered herself up, then with blinding speed, threw herself through the wave. It hurt, she hated the cold and wet, but she got through it soon enough. She landed a powerful punch to the Snubbull's face. It left a few shallow puncture marks from Xipil's spikes. Not satisfied just yet, Xipil punched again and again. Each landed a hard hit on the Snubbull's face.

"Snubbull! Um...Ice Fang!" Eztli shook her head. Obviously the new girl either didn't perform well under stress, or hadn't used her Snubbull very often.

"You forget! Ice Fang will do next to nothing to Xip!" Xipil nodded uneasily. She was right, the ice would just melt right off of her, but regardless she hated cold. The Snubbull, just as uncertain, complied with orders. It's teeth froze over, and it clamped it's jaws on Xipil's shoulder. The intense heat from Xipil's body melted the teeth right away, and burned the Snubbull's mouth. It cried out in pain, and held it's mouth. It looked at it's trainer with pleading eyes. Xipil willed the stupid brute to just faint. The trainer recalled the poor bulldog-like pokemon.

"Wow...You are strong. But you can't defeat three in a row!" She took out another green ball.

'Another park ball? That means it's a Grass or Bug type! If we can hurry, we won't have any problems.' Eztli watched as the pokeball popped open. She sighed. It just couldn't be that easy could it? She disliked Beedrills in general, and as she remembered, they couldn't be poisoned and were resistant to Fighting-Type.

Eris was quite happy to receive attention from the tall blonde haired boy, and she squeaked happily, looking up at Riza. Her new trainer sure had some nice friends. Riza held back a small smile, figuring it wasn't polite to be amused with Jaeshan's mistake. "Slateport? Why on earth would you even want to go back to that dreadful place?" she asked, wincing a little as he hit the floor. The poor guy sure was having a rough day. "But yeah, you're right. We're heading for Vermilion," she said, feeling a little bad for him as she extended her hand to help him up a second time. "At least you're not going alone, right?"

Just as she suspected, the Golbat really didn't know what to make of all the Staravia zipping around the cavern, and it clumsily tried to bite the nearest one to it, though luckily for Katie and Noa it turned out to be one of the fake birds. This allowed Noa to come up from behind and hit the bat with a strong tackle. The Golbat faltered in the air but managed to regain it's bearings, and let out a rather loud and nasty screech.

"What a horrible noise!" Katie cried, covering her ears with her hands. She swore she could feel the egg moving around in response as well, and she was more certain than ever that it would hatch soon. The Staravia cried out as well, visibly shaken from the deafening sound that rang through her ears, though thankfully her clones seemed to mimic her every action and they flinched from the horrid sound too, though for now they held their shape. Katie wasn't sure what to do next. She could see the exit that would lead her to Hearthome City and she wanted to get out of this dark, dank cave. "Noa try a wing attack now," she said, wondering if she could get closer to the door while Noa distracted the Golbat. Then maybe they could make a run for it.

Erika finished her own tea before gently dabbing her mouth with a napkin. As though she knew what Crenu was thinking, she smiled and gently stroked her Meganium's head before speaking again. "I recall how energetic and playful Meganium was back when she was still young Chikorita; it seemed everything was a game to her." The gym leader wore a nostalgic smile, and she closed her eyes and leaned back in her chair. "Training with her was incredibly difficult, and sometimes quite frustrating. That is, until I remembered that she was still so young; a child, I daresay, and I learned to incorporate play as a method of training. It paid off quite well, in my humble opinion." She poured herself a second cup, and looked to Crenu. "Would you like some more?" she offered.

"Well, Slateport wasn't my intended destination, it was just a stop along the way," Jaeshan explained, grunting a little as Riza helped him to his feet a second time. "I went to Dewford yesterday to try my hand at winning a gym badge, and now that my business there is finished, I was going to head to Mauville for the next one. But now..." he trailed off, rubbing his temples with his thumb and index finger. Since he hadn't slept in an actual bed the night before he wasn't feeling very rested today and he figured that it was because he was so tired that he got on the wrong ship.

He smiled at the raven-haired girl's comment. "Yep, you're right about that, gotta look on the bright side," he said, nodding. Perhaps heading back to Kanto wouldn't be such a bad thing after all - Vermilion wasn't too far away from Celadon, and technically the Celadon Gym was the next one in line, and he remembered promising Blaziken, back when she was a tiny, tiny Torchic that when she was stronger, she could help him to win a badge from there. It's settled then, he thought, nodding to himself. I'll go to Celadon City, challenge Erika, then we'll figure out what to do next, heck, maybe we should just continue with our Kanto Badge conquest for now. "What about you, Riza? What are your plans?" he asked, knowing conversation would help the trip to go by a little quicker.

'So he's after gym badges too,' Riza thought, watching the horizon in the distance. 'Dewford is where Crenu said he was going for a gym battle, I wonder how he did?' she thought idly, closing her eyes. She kinda missed the boy's strange, cold attitude, it was very different from Jaeshan's apparent sunny disposition, which seemed to come out of nowhere. "The bright side, right," Riza chuckled, scratching her forehead. "Me? Well, to be honest, I'm not exactly sure what to do now. I did want to head back home to Johto to prepare for the contest season but now I'm not so sure. Everyone keeps talking about these gym badges, and I was thinking about trying my hand at them. But I don't know." She fell silent and looked down at Eris, who'd snuggled up against her and was fast asleep. She put the sleeping Cyndaquil back into her poke ball and looked up at Jaeshan. She remembered seeing him battling with Keegan the other day at the beach party and from what she could remember he was a pretty tough trainer. "Hey, uh, Jaeshan?" she asked, not actually sure if she had his name right. "It might be a bit much to ask and all, but do you think that once we got to Vermilion..." she trailed off, feeling a little embarrassed. "Maybe you could help me train my Pokemon a little? I know yours are really strong and all, and I think I could use a few pointers. That is, if you don't mind, of course."

It was pretty safe to say that the Golbat was fairly distracted by now, as Noa and her many copies had it's undivided attention. Katie took a deep breath and pedaled forward, the light from the cavern's exit serving as her incentive. 'Have to get that medicine to the pokecenter,' she thought, hearing the sound of Noa's wing smacking the Golbat and the painful shriek that followed. Katie rode faster, wincing when she heard Noa cry out in pain next. It seemed the Golbat had managed to get a bite in. "Come on, Noa, let's get out of here!" Katie called. The Staravia didn't need to be told twice and made good use of a quick attack to get away from the Golbat.

Katie had never been so happy to see sunlight again as she and Noa exited Mt. Coronet and began to make their way down the route. Katie could see Hearthome City in the distance and she pedaled a little faster. She could see fisherman busily casting their lines, hoping for something to bite, but they paid little attention to the girl and her Staravia. Katie biked down a hill and into a grassy patch, picking up more speed than she wanted to and she felt the bike wobble dangerously beneath her. As she tried to get it under control she didn't notice the big rock in her path and her front bike tire rammed into it, making the bike lose control. Katie fell from the bike, landing hard on her hands and knees, but even worse was that the egg went flying from it's pouch and sailed through the air....

"Thank you." Crenu found himself pouring a second cup of tea, he didn't even think about it. "I've no time to incorporate play into my training. That's simply not my style." He said flatly, taking another sip of tea. He knew Snorunt was young, but her playfulness wasn't really the problem. She was just not confident enough in her power, or maybe she just didn't have any. Though Erika may have been onto something...maybe if she got her childish giggles out every once in a while she'd respond better to training. He watched how well behaved Meganium was and couldn't really picture her being the energetic chikorita Erika had described. But he wouldn't even know where to begin with something like that, or if he could even pull it off. No, he would just have to do things his own way, it had worked out for him so far. Then again, he did have an unacceptable number of losses under his belt, and that was more than one.
