Ellandra blushed again. "Sorry," she said quietly, closing her eyes, trying to remember what other thoughts had pressed her mind lately, finally coming up with her musings on why she was so afraid of so many things, but especially thunder and lightning. She'd always wondered why she was so afraid of thunder. There was no reason for it that she knew of, yet she was so very paralyzed by her terror. . .
Silently, she tried once more.

Faolan took the card from her and looked it over. The Tower. Very ominous, he thought, closing his eyes and getting a feel for the pattern he'd be laying out for her. Opening his eyes again, he studied the picture of a tower being struck by lightning and laid it down on the table where Ellandra's past would be shown. It felt right there.
He reshuffled the deck and put Ellandra's hand on it again. "Draw again, love."

The brunette nodded, keeping her eyes closed and letting her thoughts drift mostly where they willed. "A-all right. . ." She did as directed, never once opening her eyes. She smiled softly, relaxing despite herself.

Faolan took the Nine of Swords from her, frowning a bit at the card. Again, he laid it in her past, knowing it, too, belonged there. He reshuffled the deck and lay the girl's hand on it. "Let's try being more specific in your questions, Elle. I want you to really think of something you need an answer to and then cut and draw."

Ellandra opened her eyes and blinked a bit at Faolan, picking up on something in his voice that said things weren't going quite like they probably should have been. "O-okay," she said hesitantly, glancing over at Ziazan for a moment, which brought her mind to Misha. She wonedred if she might ever see him again. . . she wanted to, she hoped to, even now. That was a potential friendship she didn't want to go to waste if she could help it - but, the question was, could she?

Faolan smiled when she looked at him, trying to quickly hide his worry at what he was seeing in the cards laid before him. The next card she drew put him more at ease, and he lay it down beside The Lovers with a soft smile. The Six of Cups felt very much like Ellandra was thinking of the present.
Looking up at her, he put set her hands down, one on each card in the Present area of the table, then reshuffled the deck and set it between her hands. "Don't try to dwell on what the cards mean, but think about what was on your mind when you drew them, then cut and draw."

Ellandra nodded, closing her eyes again. It was easy enough to think about what had been on her mind when she'd drawn those cards - Faolan and love, and Misha, friendship, and to an extent Essentics in general. Once again, she did as told. Only one she had drawn the card did she allow another thought to enter her mind - after all, even though she didn't quite know what to make of all this, Faoan believed it, and that was enough.

Taking the Three of Cups from Ellandra, Faolan laid it horizontally across The Lovers and Six of Cups. He shuffled the deck, then cut and drew one card without looking and laid it face up in front of the girl: Queen of Pentacles. Tapping it with a finger, he explained, "This is you, how you're seen." He reshuffled the deck and put her hand on it. "Cut the deck and draw a card. Show me how you see yourself."

Ellandra nodded and did so. She didn't need a card to tell her how plain, ordinary, and timid she was, though. Why have a card tell her what she already knew abut herself - that she was a shrinking violet of a woman, a mouse in human form, with a little talent at telling stories and a longing to be anything but what she knew she was?

Taking the card, Faolan laid it down before Ellandra, below the card he'd drawn so that The Sun was before her, lying in reversed position. He sighed softly, understanding more of how she felt.
He shuffled the deck, then lay a hand on the two cards representing her Past, cut and drew, laying the Six of Swords over them. Reshuffling the deck, he took her hand in his, closing his eyes and relaxing, letting his innate abilities with his craft work their charm. Keeping his eyes shut, he cut and drew a card, laying it in the middle of the other three groups. He looked down at it and laughed, seeing The Fool. How appropriate that the card foretelling what was to come was the card he took as his avatar.
"There you are, my love. Your life and fortune in the cards," he said, looking up at her. He let his hand drift over hers, stroking the soft skin at the back of her hand. "Shall I tell you what the cards say?"

Ellandra smiled softly, not really looking at the cards on the table, preferring to watch Faolan himself. "All right," she said quietly, though she had done this much more for his sake than for hers. Then she tilted her head a bit and her smile turned a little mischevious."How should I pay you for this reading?" She asked, grey eyes sparkling . A slight blush dusted her face at the possible ways he could answer that question.

Faolan looked up at her when she'd asked about payment, then slowly rose, every bit of his natural grace in full effect. Leaning over the table, he placed his hands on either side of the cards and kissed her with as much passion as he could manage in the slightly awkward position. He pulled back and looked down at her. "That was merely the silver to cross my palm with, lass. The full payment will be after I read you the cards."
Settling back down in his chair, he looked down at the cards, sussing out their meanings in his head, both what he'd been taught of their representations and what his own innate abilities told him the cards were saying. He tapped a spot near the three cards he'd laid out to show her past. "These here are things from long ago in your life that meant enough to you that they shined through when your mind was drifting. The Tower is a destructive force. It wrecks havoc, bringing unexpected changes and a disruption of your life. Something very powerful happened to you that upset your life a great deal.
"Next to it, you drew the Nine of Swords, which puts me to mind that this disruption of your life is from the loss of a loved one, someone close like a parent of sibling." He furrowed his brow, tapping the card thoughtfully as he continued. "This loss was not the result of a peaceful passing, either. There's deceit and cruelty and slander and a whole host of other things that are just wrong here. I think someone you loved very much was murdered, Elle."
He moved his hand so that his fingertips lay on the card resting horizontally over the other two. "I drew this card for you, to try and understand more of what the cards are telling me about this event, but the Six of Swords doesn't help at all. It only can tell me that there was a journey away from the sorrow of this event. The only good thing here is that somehow you will find solace in regards to whatever this event was."
He moved to the other side of the table, letting his other hand rest on those cards. "These represent your Present life and what concerns you currently. Obviously you know The Lovers is representative of us and our new relationship. It also stands for hope and optimism, for trust and honor. Not only is it for the beginnings of romance, but it shows that there is true meaning to the relationship, that the love is pure.
"This one here, the Six of Cups shows a new acquaintance or friendship. Not me, but someone else you've met recently that has meant a great deal to you." He tapped it with his finger, smiling a bit. "It also is representative of good things from the past resurfacing. Someone you met in your childhood that met a great deal to you has come back into your life. There are also new opportunities on the horizon." He moved his hand to indicate the card laying over them. "The Three of Cups is the bridge between the other two, showing good fortune in love and unknown talents being discovered. I see there being someone sensitive and sympathetic to you now being in your life, someone you can truly count on. There also seems to be a happy conclusion, possibly to those new opportunities."
Leaning forward, Faolan lay a finger on the reversed Sub. "This is how you see yourself: unhappy, lonely, lacking in friends, and unsure of your future. That's a false self, Elle. You can't believe in those things." He moved his finger to the Queen of Pentacles. "This is the real you that's under all of the doubts you have about yourself. This is how you shine through to people who love you and really know you: thoughtful and intelligent, full of creativeness and vibrancy, making good use of your talents. However, you do have a little bit of a melancholy way to you, some small touch of sadness."
Chuckling a bit, he moved to touch The Fool. "And, lastly, this is what the future holds for you, which is funny that it's this card, my personal avatar within the tarot. The Fool represents new adventures and new beginnings with unlimited possibilities. There's much pleasure and happiness and passion that will be coming along with those, and perhaps a little carelessness and rashness, too, but all in good fun."

Knocked reeling from the kiss, Ellandra tried very hard to listen to all that Faolan said, but found it to be more difficult than she had hoped it to be. However, his suggestion of a murder in her past sunk her back to reality, and she blinked, all color fading from her expression - odd, since she'd been blushing just moments before. "Murdered? B-but, Faolan, my only family was my - my parents . . . and - and I know h-how they died," she said weakly, even as her thoughts brought up the fact that she'd only been told about her mother's manner of death.
She swallowed dryly, then shook her head again as she cleared her mind of that particular thought - she'd never know either way, after all - right? There were more important things to focus on, things that were happening right now, with Faolan. That was what she should be thinking about. She listened quietly to the rest of the reading, smiling a little when he came to the last card. She still wasn't quite sure what to make of all of this, but it was rather intriguing that her future card was one that Faolan tied himself to . . . intriguing, and amusing as well. "Thank you, Faolan. . ." She trailed off, forgetting what she was going to say when she felt a very vague sense of deja vu.

"You alright, love? You look less . . . blushing than usual," Faolan said, tilting his head a bit. He gathered the cards to him, putting them back in the deck and reshuffled them. "To make it fair, I'll do a quick read for myself so you can see I'm not just making this all up, okay?"
He cut the deck and drew a card, holding up the Nine of Swords. "This is my past. There's a lot of deceit and cruelty back there for me, too. I can only imagine this is representative of when my mother abandoned me." He lay it down on the table to his left, then reshuffled the deck, once more cutting and drawing a card.
Holding up The Lovers, he smiled and explained, "This is my present. I'm pretty sure I don't have to explain this one, since it's a constant theme currently in our lives." He set it to his right and reshuffled the deck, then cut a drew another card.
"This is me," Faolan said, holding up The Fool for Ellandra to see before laying it before him. "I probably don't have to tell you that I'm passionate, adventurous, and full of life. However, I can also be rash and thoughtless, forgetful and lazy." He reshuffled the deck, then cut it and drew a card.
"I'd always wondered what this meant when I used to do readings for myself, drawing this for my future," the young man said softly, holding up the Queen of Pentacles. "It's not the sort of card you can translate into events coming, but I guess the cards were telling me of you."
He shuffled the deck idly, then looked at her and smile showing on his face. "Let's do two more draws, one each, to see what this is between us." He cut the deck and drew a card, laying it before Ellandra on the table. Six of Cups again. Faolan raised an eyebrow, then reshuffled and had the girl cut and draw, taking the card from her and laying it before him. The Sun again, but upright this time. He looked up at Ellandra. "Have we met before? I mean before you came to the carnival the other night?"

"Not that I know of," Ellandra said slowly, twirling her hair around her fingers as a thought began to cross her mind, one that made her tilt her head a bit and frown thoughtfully. "I - I would have remembered if we had. . . but, Faolan," she said, and paused, blinking several times as the thought finished forming, and continued, "I - I don't remember anything from my earlier childhood - n-not since I was about five; I know nothing beyond w-waking up and Papa telling me that I had been sick, and that I was lucky to be alive, even though I - I didn't remember who he even was . . ." She trailed off, bit her lip, then spoke again. "I suppose . . . we could have met sometime b-before I got sick . . .?"
