Cindy didn't have to think about it too hard and shook her head, "I know bits and pieces but that was only so I could label the medicines for everyone to read, and of course when Lin proved to be better at it than anyone except for Elnara's children, and she's always over here, it just made more sense to have her label the bottles."
No one else needed to use it to the extent Lin did, and it gave the girl something useful to do. Not that she wasn't already doing tons of useful things to begin with.

"Well, if you're here for an extended period of time," Shael murmured thoughtfully, "it may be best for you to learn it ... and the language as well. Next summer, when we go to the Eastland, you'll be lucky - most people speak the Common Tongue because of the mixture of races ..."
But if Cindy could read elvish, her research would be made much easier, because she would be able to read Adonai's books and use his research instead of having to conduct her own.

Cindy would have to agree, she had no idea how long she would be here, but it would be for a very long time, and it was best if she knew at least one of the languages, or the one most likely to be used here.
"Agreed, it would be far easier if I could, and Adonai has already offered to let me go through his library, but without understanding any of it..." she held up her hands helplessly.
There wasn't much she could do.

"Until then," Shael smiled warmly, "I'm sure Adonai would be happy to help you with anything you want to know ... he did his research because he was interested in it, I'm sure he would be happy to help you with your own, read to you from his books or even just share his knowledge. Don't hesitate to ask him."

This was true, from what little they had talked about at the Ranch, it seemed like Adonai was eager to share.
"I'll remember that," Cindy replied softly, "Thank you, and now, you probably should get changed before Adonai worries more. I've been keeping you."

Shael giggled and blushed. "I had forgotten," she admitted, rising slowly from her chair. "And you make sure you have a good rest this afternoon, take the time to yourself ... visit Aliya, or do your own research or something, don't worry yourself about Rhea for the moment. She will not change between today and tomorrow."
She reached for her crutch, which was leaning against the chair beside hers, and positioned it beneath her armpit. "Oh, and the bath is ready for you if you would like," she smiled over her shoulder as she headed down the hall.

"Thank you," Cindy replied, "I'll go take that bath and your suggestion."
Perhaps tomorrow if the weather kept clear, she would visit Aliya she thought to herself.

The next morning found Rhea, still in her night clothes, pounding on Cindy's door long before the sun was even up.
"Wake up! Wake up!" she cried gleefully, her eyes sparkling brightly with excitement. "Wake up, Cindy! Wake up! He's here! He's here! Come on wake up wake up!"

Good lord, where did this girl get her energy... wait, they had answered that question, Cindy thought to herself as she stirred awake. She slipped out of bed, ending up on her knees on the floor before getting up and padding over to the door.
She opened it and peered down, while still trying to rub the sleep from her eyes.

Rhea just about stumbled and lost her balance when the door opened and she no longer had anything to bang her fists against, but she caught her balance quickly and grinned up at Cindy, her entire face lit up with excitement.
"Come on, Cindy!" she exclaimed, reaching for her teacher's hand and dragging her down the hall towards the stairs. "He's here!"

Cindy was still half asleep, which would explain why it wasn't that hard to drag her down the hall in the first place. Not to mention it was taking her a while to figure out what Cindy meant by "he's" here.
"Rhea, I'm still in my nightgown," Cindy protested.

Rhea giggled. "So am I!" she grinned. "It's okay! He's here! But he won't stay long so we have to go see him now!"
At the top of the stairs she let go of Cindy's hand so that she wouldn't make her teacher fall down the stairs, then turned and ran down as fast as her feet would take her. "Come on!" she called again as she reached the bottom of the steps and turned down the hall towards the study.

Well if that was the case, Cindy figured she might as well. At least it was a proper night gown. She followed after Rhea quickly, before the girl could disappear on her completely.
"It is far too early in the morning to be this active," she murmured.

Rhea just giggled and ran into the living room. Aragost was already inside and seated on a chair, robed in black as always, cowl up to hide his face, essentially making him look like a phantom or a shadow.
His appearance didn't bother Rhea, who jumped into her mother's lap and snuggled into her. Shael was sitting on the couch opposite Aragost, and chatting away to him cheerfully, even though the dark man was making very little to no reply.
