Adrian stared at Carlos for a few minutes, trying to process what the unicat just said. It was a new concept for the rat. "You mean it?"

Carlos grinned toothily at Adrian. "Well, yeah... it can't just go one way, right? I just wish I was a little better at it," he sighed, ears drooping a little.

Adrian continued to stare at Carlos. "You're fine at it, I think. I mean, you've stuck around right?" He sighed in frustration. "This is all so confusing!"

"Well, true... I suppose..." But if he was better at it, wouldn't he be able to know what kept pissing Adrian off and prevent it? "Yeah. It really is confusing," he muttered, rubbing his head. "Maybe that's why pretty much everyone I've ever known that had a boyfriend or something never stayed together." The odds were very discouraging, but he didn't want to give up. It would be like giving up not only on Adrian, but also himself.

Adrian stood and moved so he was standing in front of Carlos. "I have the opposite experience of other people. Almost all my housemates who are dating, are still together. Maybe there is hope for us?"

"Really? Guess it's just luck or something then," Carlos mused. He watched with large eyes as Adrian approached and stood over him. He nodded and smiled, leaning forward to wrap his arms around the rat. "Yes, I think so. We just have to work at it."

"Maybe it is, but I don't want to think of it like that. I don't have good luck." Adrian nodded and wrapped his arms around Carlos as well. "I... want this to work... between us."

"Then it won't be about luck." He squirmed to his feet (admittedly, he was now standing on the couch, bad Carlos), managing to keep a hold of Adrian. "It's about dedication and persistence." He smiled and kissed him gently. "I love you Adrian."

Adrian kissed Carlos back, enjoying having his unicat back in his life. He pulled back and gave Carlos another small smile. "I missed that." He sat down on the couch, pulling Carlos with him. "I... love you too."

"Missed?" He squeaked lightly as Adrian pulled him back down on the couch. He blinked a little then smiled happily and purred, "I love it when you say that." His tail waved a little and he curled up comfortably against the rat.

"Yeah, is there something wrong with missing being with one's loved one after not seeing him for at least a month." Adrian hugged Carlos close to him. "Love when I say what?"

"I love it when you tell me you love me," Carlos grinned. "Well, there is something sorta wrong with it because if you miss being with me, then I guess we don't see each other often enough. So we'll just have to visit more often."

Adrian hugged Carlos tighter. "Aren't you supposed to miss your boyfriend? Isn't that part of the wonders of dating and making being with each other special or something sappy like that?"
