As they walked the path Emris noticed the thinning of trees and he was beginning to feel weird in the silence. "So..." He began sheepishly looking over at Terrie, "Have you ever been to a market before?" He looked back at the path ahead of them still feeling the silence that he hoped to break.

Terrie shook her head slowly. "I don't think so. I would avoid crowds when I was traveling. Are there large crowds at this one?" Might as well ask while she could.

Walking out from the cover of trees, Emris looked back at Terrie before slowly answering her question. "Hmm...it depends. Sometimes it's not as busy while other days it's bursting with taurs. But I don't think it should be too bad today since there's no festival, that I know of, going on or approaching just yet."
He grinned at Terrie before looking back at the well traveled dirt road that they now stepped on, "But I think marketplaces can be fun and I have a great feeling about today."

Terrie licked her lips nervously, hugging the basket closer. Would she be able to handle it? She smiled greatfully though at Emris' feeling. "So what's your feeling telling you? about today?" She asked with a soft chuckle.

The foxtaur paused and a thoughtful look crossed his face at Terrie's question before he answered happily. "I don't know what exactly yet, but I do know that something good will happen!" Chuckling Emris moved quicker down the path and playfully waved Terrie along. "So we better hurry!"

"Something good..." Terrie smiled, feeling more encouraged by the minute. She laughed softly and trotted quicker after Emris, tail swaying behind her. "Of course. We don't want to miss anything good happening."

"Cha." Replied Emris with a wide grin before hurrying down the road. Already he could hear the faint murmurs of the awakening market with its many stalls and bright banners. A group of centaurs (most likely a family) were just ahead of them and were coming into the market as well with their goods to sell. Smells of opening food booths and local taverns also flooded the foxtaur's senses as they got nearer to the tall wooden gate. "Welcome...to the market."

Terrie closed her eyes slightly, inhaling deeply the delightful scents that were becoming stonger with every step. Spotting the small group ahead, and a few taurs loitering by the gate, Terrie became nervous yet again and held herself close to Emris' side, clutching tightly to her basket. The chatter of voices from the other side of the gate was louder than before and she watched warily, fighting the urge to flee before even getting inside.
To calm her nerves, she kept her eyes on Emris' shoulder nearest her. "It- it smells nice." Was all she could muster out.

Looking at Terrie from the corner of his eye, Emris nodded briefly. "Ah, it does." In a way of comfort and as a form of some protection against curious eyes, Emris took Terrie's hand and held it tightly as a link between them as they walked through the crowd and out into the open less crowded streets.
His eyes were sharp and the foxtaur kept a watch out for any familiar taurs that might be caught here in the market. So far though he didn't see anyone that looked really familiar to him. Just a couple of regular shop keepers that he could remember, but that was about it for now.

Terrie's face didn't change, but the touch of Emris' hand felt like an anchor to her mind and she immediatly began to relax again. She was still nervous, but the urge to flee was replaced by her previous excitement about being there.
Her eyes flashed to every vendor space. They took in every item, every customer, the vendors themselves. There weren't many customers, but she figured the number would grow, it was still early.
"So where do we go to trade these?" She asked, still grasping firmly to his hand.

"Well..." Emris began while he looked around the street, "We could go to the main trading booth or find a shop that would gladly buy our goods from us. Or maybe even trade something in return." He chuckled, "It's really mainly up to what we feel like doing first."

"Oh." Terrie bounced the options around in her head. But seeing as she didn't know how either process worked... "What do we feel like doing first then?"
She felt as lost as if she had been suddenly given a hammer and nails and was told to make a bridge. But her excitement stuck through, and her nerves were calming, and she slightly relaxed her grip on Emris' hand.

"A bit of both, I guess." Chuckled Emris as they started passing some open booths, "We can look at anything you want on the way to the trading center and then we can see what we can get for our supplies there." His eyes traveled about the jewelry hanging from hooks and all the other odds and ends as they approached a line of small shops.

Terrie nodded and smirked. If they stopped to look at everything she wanted to, they wouldn't get back until the next sunrise. So many wonderful little things here.
She did pause at one shop though. She even risked letting Ermis' hand go for a closer look. Bright and colorful bags sat on the counter and hung on the walls. She thought back to her own bag, tattered and frayed, still buried back in the woods. "I could use a new bag." She thought to herself, touching a hand to some of them. They seemed sturdy too.

Sneaking around Terrie, Emris went and spoke softly to the booth keeper as he noticed the foxtaur's interest in the bags. Giving a small nod an exchange of some coins was silently noted as the shopkeeper, a young centauress, came over to Terrie with a bright smile.
"Hey!" She grinned and tucked a stray strand of hair back in place before patting Terrie's shoulder. "It's your lucky day, ya know. Shop special that whenever a certain number of bags of mine 'ave been bought there's a free one ta give away. So pick!" She giggled and gave a secret wink to Emris who was occupied at the stall next to hers.
