Hitsugaya Toshiro cheerfully ran down the forest path with his new found powers of reiatsu concealment. Overjoyed by this sort of new power, he ran close to the the Shihouin house premisis. His vice captain's unusual Haori flapped lazily through the wind as he ran toward the usual spot where he met Kuraime. His haori was considered unusual mainly because of the fact that only captains wore them. Though, he felt an unusual comfort in wearing it because he was so used to his grandfather wearing one. He felt Kuraime's slowly disappearing traces of reiatsu as he got closer to the tree. It was months old, but he couldn't help himself from getting excited everytime he feels her presence in one way or the other.
His pace quickened to a sprint through pure incentive to reach his primary target place. His white hair lightly pulled with the wind in a way as if they were slim trees flowing in the direction of the wind during a hurricane. To a untrained eye, Toshiro would appear to look like a ghost that was flying through the woods. The ones that would attempt to investigate the strange figure would only meet the sheer cold breeze that he left behind.
Upon arrival, Toshiro looked around to see if Kuraime recieved his presents as well. To his surprise, they were nowhere to be found. He felt some other form of reiatsu present. It unmistakably belonged to a male. Though it was unknown to whom. Who was this unknown male? Did Hitsugaya leave for too long? He was wrong to assume so much. He didn;t know how to ease his untroubled mind. It was full of doubt and fear. "Did she move on? He muttered quietly under his breath.
He needed his answers as soon as possible. Instead of jumping to conclusions, he needed to ask her directly before he acted rashly. Concentrating thin amounts of reiatsu to his feet, he began to walk up the tree with his body sticking out horizontally against the vertical tree. Ultimately reaching his branch where he snuggled up into it. His heart was not filled with sorrow or doubt, but rather excitement and fear. He was excited about seeing her, but fearful of her explanation that has yet to be told.
Toshiro would have completely understood if she moved on... It was hard for him to swallow that thought. He pushed it away and attempted to be optimistic about this whole situation. Out of all honestly... he wouldn't have blamed her for moving on. He didn't truely say goodbye. He left a mere necklace that promised her she had his heart. A gift that with-held a promise he still kept to this moment. Quite possibly to his grave. It's almost been a year since he last set eyes on her...

It was on a whim that Kurai ran farther than usual. She sprinted mechanically along no set path, not pausing before leaping into the trees that ringed the very edges of Second Division.
The crystal charm that hung about her neck on a delicate chain bounced with her movements, keeping time with the steady beating of her heart. She opened her senses, preferring to listen to the forest, rather than her own thoughts. They had been dark as of late, though they had brightened considerably since the winter thaw. The scent of ice had long faded with the last errant gusts of frigid air. Nothing to remind her.
She came back to herself to realize her position. Even time could not cure her apprehension of her family. And still, the Shihouin clan didn't know of her. Probably better that way.
Coming to a halt, her sheer belt of weights shifted. She slid a finger under the material in a practiced motion, settling the weight more evenly about her hips. She still wore the wristbands, anklets, and belt, but the weight they carried had increased considerably. And they no longer bothered her or hindered her movement.
The wind shifted as she turned to go, bringing a sharp cold scent that burned her nose. She sneezed, turning to stare blindly in the scent's direction. Probably just a last snowdrift or lone icicle, she thought, vehemently refusing to let her hopes rise.
Still, Kurai could not help but approach the source, picking her way through the forest on foot. It would bring her closer to the Clan House than she had stepped in many months, but that hardly mattered. Not when-- no. She shoved the thought away, once more, but continued her advance.

Leaning his head on the tree trunk, he shifted his entire body so he was comfortable. Placing his hands behind his head and placing his right ankle on his left thigh, he looked up curiously at the slowly shifting leaves of the everlasting tree. He took off his zanpaktou which was laying on his back and placed it on his lap. He quickly glanced at it and smiled. "Itsuru..." He muttered quietly. The name jolted the zanpaktou to life and a smaller phoenix of ice materialized from the trunk of the tree, staring down at him face to face. "Yes Toshiro?" he chirped curiously. "Can you do me a favor and go find Kuraime for me?" Toshiro asked him with a smile. "Yes, Toshiro..." Itsuru replied before his ice form took off. Looking for Kuraime. Getting slowly impatient, Toshiro began to hum a soothing tune. [Tune he's humming: ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcFgelgVJ9Q][So basically, Toshiro found out his true zanpaktou spirit form a while ago. It's a phoenix!]

Something flashed silver, disrupting the dappled shadows that filtered through the canopy of trees above Kurai. It wasn't the play of light that alerted her, for she could not discern light from shadow. Rather, it was the faint whistle of wings--or some facsimile. The sound cut clearly through the air, a sharper tone than feathers. She swivled, tensing and bowing her head as she focused more intensely on the sounds and smells around her.
There. Again, a downsweep of the strange wings. And a scent that intensified. Kurai resisted the urge to sneeze a second time as a sweet cold burned her nose.
"Who's there?" Kurai said just loudly enough to break the stillness of the forest.

Itsuru continued to glide around the forest slowly where he felt the presence of his master's love. His eyes slowly moved left to right scanning the area of the sight of her. The entire forest was a shade of gray, black, and white through his eyes. For some reason he was only capable of seeing the shades of blue. His own body, or Toshiro's ice. Blue was without a doubt, his favorite color. It was then he smelt the scent of sweet apples as if they just bloomed in the summer weather. The scent caused his mouth to water when he finally realized that he found his intended target. Increasing his wing intervals to a rapid rate, he shot toward the direction in which he smelt the girl. He stopped abruptly in midair, gazing curiously at the girl in which his master loved. Landing quietly in front of her, he chirped cheerfully. Remembering with his mater the first experience she had with human contact, Itsuru tried to be extra cautious in his movements. Then, an idea came to mind.
Sacrificing some of his reiatsu life force in the current form of ice he was in, he formed a rose of ice on the ground. Carefully picking it up in his beak, he lifted up the rose by the fragile stem and edged forward toward Kurai's hand. It was then and there he lightly grazed his head onto her hands which where clenched in a protective manner. He knew that his body reeked of Toshiro's reiatsu. Surely, she would have notice immediantly. As she began to open her hand slowly, to him, he dropped the rose into it. There he lightly snapped at her shirt and pulled her toward his intended direction. He took flight and began to fly to his master, hoping the girl was following closely behind him.

Kurai held the ice rose as tightly as she dared. There was no doubt that this bird was some sending of Hitsugaya's. It had some characteristics that reminded her of Itsuru, but Shiro's zanpaku-to had always been in the shape of a dragon.
Still, there was no mistaking the cold scent that burned her nose. Abruptly, the bird took flight. Kurai was but a step behind, afraid of losing track of the little icy creature among the trees. There was the little bloom of hope, again rising in her chest. She let it grow, this time. Maybe...
Maybe he'd returned.

Gaining impatience Toshiro jumped on his feet and began to pace back and forth impatiently along the tree trunk. Strongly annoyed by the effeciency in which Itsuru was working he jumped toward the ground, realizing that his impatience will cause him much pain in the process. As he fell, he reacted quickly and froze his hand into a claw. Grabbing into the tree, he ripped in the bark. The bark shattered to pieces as he began to slow down. Reaching the ground with a heavy thud he laughed lightly. Feeling a famiiar presence approaching his location, he turned around and ran toward the familiar reiatsu.

Kurai's picked up the sudden cracking of bark and a dull thud as something hit the ground. She sped up, overtaking the Itsuru-bird in a second. She bounded past it, certain, this time, that she would find him.
"Shiro?" She called, honing in on his scent, and, even better, his aura. Pale blue shot with silver--there could be no mistaking it. "Shiro!" She called again, excitement raising the pitch of her voice and speeding her step.

Toshiro couldn't believe his eyes, it was as if he set his eyes on an angel. Her divine beauty was uncompared as he sprinted at her with all haste. Upon approach, he dared not to stop and rather tackled her into the ground. The force of the impact shook his body and he enclosed his arms around her waist as they flew though the air. Upon impact, he quickly turned so that he would be the one to hit the ground. The ground loudly impacted against his back as he stared into her eyes deeply. The muted gold lit the flame in his frozen heart. "Hey... love." He said with a warming smile. The crisp apple scent that lightly kissed his nose was invigorating to the very core.

Kurai laughed breathlessly as Toshiro tackled her. The impact brought them both to the ground, but it felt light the lightest of touches. She landed on his chest, smiling as she took a breath to savor his scent. It felt as though she hadn't seen him for years, and her eyes burned. She blinked, and, much to her embarassment, a tear fell onto Toshiro's upturned face.
She ducked her head bashfully and laughed delightedly at the confusing range of emotions the tore at her heart. They were so confusing! But so exciting--she couldn't help but lean down and plant a kiss on his lips.

Toshiro stared curiously at her face as a tear materialized in her eyes. Before he knew it, Kurai placed her lips on his. Her warms lips brought forth an indescribable experience. He pulled her closer and pressed his lips against hers with force. He inhaled her scent as his lips curled into a smile. Pulling away slowly, he held her close. Placing his chin on her left shoulder he whispered in her ear, "I hope those tears aren't over me..."

Kurai buried her face in his neck. "I think so," She said, voice a bit muffled as she spoke into his lapel. It felt silly to cry when she was happy, and she blinked back any more tears that threatened to fall. Taking another breath of his icy scent, she sighed happily.
Of course, she had a thousand questions for him, but this was more important. Just being with him again was enough. She hoped he wouldn't have to leave again, soon. Or, perhaps, she could come with him.

Kissing her forehead, Toshiro closed his eyes. "I'm not leaving you ever again... I don't care what challanges us anymore. I'd rather die then lose you." He continued to hold her tightly, out of fear of letting her go...to lose her once again. Everyday, since he was seprated from her, he died. He slowly died everyday until he became as cold as the ice that he summoned. He wondered what she had been doing... apparently she hadn't moved on. He carefully studied her face as if he imprinted it in his memory. His eyes were caught on a diamond shaped heart that was hanging from her neck. The heart gleamed brightly in the sun. His face smiled even wider That's the one I gave her...

Kurai softly traced Hitsugaya's jawline with one hand. "I don't want to be separated from you again, but I want you to be able to carry out your duties... Next time, I'll be strong enough to come with you," He looked upset, as though he was remembering a painful memory. It was enough to stem the embarassing flow of tears. Her muted-gold eyes were questioning. "What's wrong?"

Attempting to avoid her questioning gaze, Toshiro hugged her tightly and resumed his head placement by placing it on her shoulder. Closing his eyes, his hands moved slowly up her back until his fingers started to comb through her hair. He placed his lips on her neck and lightly kissed it. Sighing with satisfaction Toshiro moved his head toward her ear. "I just...... missed you. Nothing is wrong... you won't believe how much I've died without you love..." He whispered. Toshiro was finally at peace. During his time on earth he had the same nightmares that haunted his dreams every night. He remembered it so vividly...
The area was placed in an unfamiliar area. Toshiro was walking down the set path that was layed out before him. Then, he would see a light... one that radiated a Autumn gold color. It would shine so brightly for a second before revealing Kuraime's face. Joy overtook his emotions as he ran as fast as he could to reach her. Only, the light began to fade... and soon, became non-existant. Along with it... her.
