Yuki was not in the mood to see Shinichi. However, she was in a good mood, so her glare lacked its usual pzazz! As he asked her what was needed to be done, Yuki was dying to lash out with several sharp tongued remarks, but bit her tongue and remained silent for a moment. "We have some metal beams cooling in the weapon shop that need to be brought over. They're heavy, so the students won't be able to haul them. If you want to find some free genin or chunins to get the Ox from the Rice Farm down to the weapon shop, you can start loading the beams onto the carts to bring them over," Yuki told Shinichi as she brought up the blueprints to her and Hamma's new idea for the Dorms and Apartments. "To help stop the spreading of flames and to ensure no collapses, Hamma thought it best to make a steel structure instead of wood. It has cost us a pretty Ryo or two, but it will be worth it in the long run," the woman explained to Shinichi the importance of the beams in the construction, before rolling up the blue print and spotting Nadeshiko with a back of goodies.

"Oh, thank you darling!" Yuki said as she approached the girl who brought the food and snacks for everyone. "I'm glad you brought this. We'll be out here all day," the woman said and then stopped as she thought of something. "You might have been confused seeing me from place to place. There's a lot to be done in the village and I use my ninjutsu to have clones help out from time to time. You might have encountered a few," the woman said with a smile as she let Nadeshiko in on her little secret. "Great work ethic, everyone! Keep up the good work! And if you're getting tired, feel free to stop and grab a bite to eat! The well also has cool water to keep your bodies hydrated!" Yuki called out to all the hard workers.

Akiko looked around as she worked diligently. There seemed to be a lot of students there. She supposed that, with a village their size, they needed all the workers they could muster. It was good training, too, so she could understand why they were being used for the labor. Then again, there were people of all ages and skill levels helping out, so she figured that she was on one of the less challenging tasks. Regrettably, she didn't really know many of her superiors. She was still in the academy, so she wouldn't run across jonin or anything of the sort too often in her career. She did, however, see a few familiar faces. Her training partner was there from the other day, and she seemed to be working intensely. Akiko would have to check on her later... it wasn't a wise idea to disturb her right now, but she was concerned the girl would strain herself. Also of note was the boy from the hospital. He seemed to have recovered somewhat, but he couldn't be completely healed just yet. It must be even more difficult for him than the rest of them. She decided to check up on him, just in case. She pulled her half-filled wheelbarrow close to him and set it down. "Hi there... you were in the hospital, weren't you? Are you here to help today? I'd imagine it's good to do some exercise to help you recover, but be careful not to strain yourself, okay?" Akiko walked off to the right and started to pull out a shattered wooden beam. She braced herself against some rocks at the base and tucked it under one arm as she pulled harder. It came loose, sending her staggering back. She regained her footing and grasped the other end of the beam. "Eheh, it's harder than it looks, so don't overdo it. Let me know if you need any help with this."

Nadeshiko quickly got to work, along with the other students. Her sleeves were already conveniently pulled up, so she was ready to go. She grabbed a wheelbarrow and a shovel and began tearing away at loose pieces of building. A torn beam here, some large chunks of indterminably grey matter, and something that looked like part of a door. The small girl was actually surpisingly good at her task. She managed to get things easily out of delicate places, although she couldn't do much about the largier and weightier bits. That aside, her little wheelbarrow was well on its way to achieving fullness. Nadeshiko gave it a gentle push to see how much more she could put in it. There was still some ways to go, and she dove back into the rubble.

Sukotto had drifted off during the previous night after meeting up with Kane and Kanami, finding out that the village wasn't under attack, and that an accidental fire had been what had damaged the Housing District. Unfortunately, his sleep had left him quite groggy, and had caused him to neglect to respond to anyone who had addressed him directly. He made his way over to Orika, who seemed to have been busy at work. "I did manage to find that book, Orika, but unfortunately, I ended up misplacing it before I could find you again. We could probably figure out that jutsu on our own, but it will require more difficult training on your part, and a lot of thinking on mine. Even though this appears to be troublesome, I believe it to be a gift of sorts. With you working harder, you'll end up becoming stronger, and with me thinking more and instructing you more carefully, it will help me in the long run as well. Once you and I have both contributed to the reconstruction effort, we'll figure that jutsu out." The Uchiha then turned to Hamma, who had given him instructions to find more help for the work effort. "Hamma, sir. I just so happen to have a partial squad on standby, so I will make my way to the cliffs and get them down here to help out. We don't want this place getting too crowded, but I'm sure that if we stay and help for a little while, then it shouldn't get to be too bad." After speaking with the one who seemed to be taking charge, the Uchiha's perceptive eye caught sight of none other than Tenmoki Yuki, a woman that the Chuunin attempted to avoid at all costs. His eyes widened with fear and he took off in a jog towards the cliffs in an attempt to avoid some sort of scolding about one thing or another that the woman would likely stir up if she saw him.

The back and forth motions of digging and dumping the rubble was rather tiring. She continued to ignore the other's, because she felt like she was getting more accomplished on her own instead of having someone pester her with pointless talking. Small beads of sweat started to form along her forehead as she began the motion of digging into the rubble and lifting the heavy load into the wheel barrel. Her arms were starting to grow more and more tired, and she could feel the cramping in her arms getting worse... but she kept pushing forward, just wanting to get this done.

((Wow, I'm actually lucky for once...

Akemi, Sorri, and Nadeshiko: Akiko's going to take a quick break--her character, not me. If you want someone to interact with, she's available for you.))

Akiko gave the boy a pleasant smile. Having realized that he probably didn't even know her, she decided it would be prudent to introduce herself. "Ah, by the way," she added, "I'm Akiko. I helped take care of you in the hospital the other day. I hope to see you around here more often... but hopefully not in the clinic again." She grabbed her wheelbarrow and gave it a few sturdy pushes. It seemed to have gotten stuck on a chunk of wood, but she pried it loose and kept going. She then came across a curious girl who seemed to be practically swimming in the debris. She would dive in to get a piece of material, nearly disappear for a little while, and then pop back out. She didn't seem to be touching the larger pieces, so Akiko took it upon herself to get those. As she tried to stamp her foot against a wooden beam to break it into smaller pieces, she tried to make small-talk with the girl. "Hi, are you new here? I don't think I've... nngh!" The board snapped in two, sending her stumbling backward for a few steps. "Ugh... haven't seen you in the village before, I don't think." She tossed one half of the beam into her wheelbarrow and began to tug at the half still submerged in the ruins. "We get a lot of people from overseas that are about your age, but I don't think I've seen you yet. Are you new here?" With a final tug, she yanked the wood free, causing the rocks to shift around harmlessly. "Did you enroll in the Academy yet? I'm a student there myself, and my aunt teaches some of the classes. Hamma's a great teacher, too... oh!" She exclaimed, her eyes widening. "That reminds me, I need to go turn in this stuff! Well," she added, walking away but still turning her head toward the girl, "I gotta go, but I'll be around. Come find me some time if you want." With that, she took off toward Hamma, weighed down by an overflowing wheelbarrow but determined as ever. "Hamma-sama! Where do you want all this? I think I'd like to take a quick break, too, if that's all right with you."

User ImageHamma continued his work of obliterating the remnant of a once sturdy structure. As he continued to pound away his focus was drawn away by a meek voice. The man turned to look down at the littlest Tenmoki. The blacksmith had to give it to her. She was probably among the smallest on the island. Even within her own class, but she had heart. It would be a thing of beauty to see that heart grow over the years. “You can place that rubble over to the side.” He told the girl pointing with a finger. “Yes. You can take a rest, lass. You earned one. Once you done resting you can give Orika a hand over there with that concrete mix.” the man continued before turning away. Before returning to his work of deconstruction the man looked around and decided to give a bit of motivation. “Put your backs into ya wee kids. I don’t think any of you want to be sleeping outside on gravel tonight.” his voice shouted. That should do for some motivation.

Concentrating so hard kept the girl from realizing how much progress she was really making. When she hit the hard earth with her shovel, the girl shook her head slightly. With one last lift of her shovel, she piled on the last of a rather large load of rubble into her wheel barrel. With a small grunt, she lifted the wheel barrel up enough to move it, and walked up to Hamma-sensei, grunting out, "Sensei... where do you want this garbage..." She set the wheel barrel down for a moment, waiting for an answer, examining the people around seeing how she knew and who she didn't.

Nadeshiko kept at it, and was steadily filling up her wheelbarrow. Soon, she would be able to turn it in. As she worked, one of the other students attempted to make small talk with her. Nadeshiko let her eyes stray to the girl's face for a quick moment, and realized that her colouring was similar to Yuki's. Same clan, maybe? Before she could say anything in the way of questions or answers, the girl named Akiko had left, her assigned task completed, and Hamma was yelling out a threat, trying to make them work a little faster. She shrugged, and slipped out another chunk of charred gunk.

User ImageThe massive blacksmith turned again to see another finished. It was the quiet Raiken girl. Hamma was not sure of what to make of her resolve. She was different from her past clansmen that the man had the pleasure of meeting. One reason was that the lass were a few inches off normal Raiken height. Although that could be because of a late growth spurt. Akemi was also a quiet one. Her past relatives were friendlier, but that could be just trying to adjust to the new lifestyle. Then again she may be the quiet type. There were always a few of those each year. Not keeping his thoughts on the Akemi’s solitary behavior the man answered her. “Just place it over to the side. Where Akiko is resting her pile. When you do that you can begin helping the lass over there mix the concrete.” the man said pointing to Orika. “Or you can take a quick rest with your classmate.” the man stated then pointing to Akiko. It would be up to Akemi what she wanted to do.

There was a slight thrill she experienced when she first started this work. It wasn't everyday that people let her handled rough, heavy objects. But now it was becoming boring quickly, which is what caused a lapse in Nadeshiko's concentration. She was attempting to do what Akiko had done earlier, and in trying to pull out a large beam that was well beyond her, the small pile she had pulled it from collapsed on her. She managed to get herself out of the dust well enough, but Nadeshiko knew she was going to go home with some ugly bruises that night. And she should stick to the stuff she could pick up.

Nadeshiko dabbed at a dark smudge on her little nose with the back of her hand. After throwing in a few more bits of debris, she was finally done. Her arms, unused to this much heavy work, felt like they were about to drop off, but she felt pleased. She wheeled her now heavy and full wheelbarrow slowly and steadily over to Hamma.

"Here?" Nadeshiko coughed softly, cocking her head to indicate the pile that Akiko and Akemi had dumped their fill in earlier, assuming that Hamma didn't want the debris scattered in different places right after they had managed to gather it together.

"No pain no gain yeah?" He said with a shrug, responding to Orika specking of training. He gave her a silly salute before he watched her go back to beating down buildings, it was humbling to watch. He could never swinging around a huge hammer like that, he would have gave a whack at it if he wasn't sure that he'd end up in the hospital with something surely broken. While he went to grab his wheel barrel, she sounded familiar it wasn't until she told him how she knew him that he figured out he had her her in his sleep. H nodded, sure he should take it easy, he gave her a sight smile and she flew off back to work.

Sorri went into his portion of work with rolling along paths that had been mostly cleared and picking up the bits and pieces that remained. His chunks of collected debris grew bigger, so they must have been pieces that had been missed or ever some that feel off of the other barrels. HE ran into a bump and his left arm ping with a pain that shot back and forth before settling in his now tingling palm. Sorri let the cart go and rubbed his hands together and then rubbed at his arm before stretchering it out. "Oookaaay" he said with a sigh and then punched out his left arm with a smile. Its a bit better, still hurt, but he could work with it. Sorri took hold of the bars again before moving on. It though about holding the reigns of a stead and trudging off, letting the horses legs do the work, heh.
