He took a look at the marines. There was no hate between the two forces, or any bond for that matter. Winter liked his fellow men in black but out there those marines were your only companions and your only 'friends', sometimes they grew on you but then they just fell down dead beside you in the next wave. The ODST couldn't help but respect them, the primary fighting force who stormed into battle in hordes only to be slaughtered. Short lifespans. But the ODST also had there own problems of course.

With a hardened eye he watched the man interject the battle, swinging the gals arms behind her, a counter-strike came to mind. Years of Krav Maga and Akido instantly growing on him, he wanted to fight but he didn't want to end a fellow soldiers life. A human. He couldn't 'play', it was instantaneous, it was reflex to kill, to end there life in a single breath, and in the others own.

Warren had decided he would support his friend, besides he had survived with Ashton on the field, he had more fight in him than it looked. "I'll take that bet James, 50 on Dansmith". There was also the fact the girl couldn't use her arms, If Ashton is smart, his best plan of attack is to knock her off balance, with out her arm, it should be harder to recover.

Warren looked over and saw a fellow ODST standing in the door way, equipped in full gear, watching the fight. No one called battle stations, why was this man ready for combat. He was actually quite curious now, he waved the ODST over, maybe get him on this bet to.

Karr nodded. "Alright, I'll have a briefing set up soon."

Anthony looked over at the Captain. "Sir, I just told her to get some rest. Do you need to adgitate her?"

In his mind... his bets were on the Gunny. That girl had a grip.

Cat wiped her mouth with her wrist and smiled, "Fine, no help." Cat started circling Dansmith moving slowly closer to him, she'd bounce just half an inch closer than she did backwards, soon she felt she was in range.
Cat made a punch for Dansmiths jaw which he blocked. She shifted her wieght and spun herself to the left bringing her right leg around fast and hard in a flash trying to meet with Dansmiths side.
Goodluck dodging this.

Winter took hidden pleasure in the enthusiasm the soldiers held, happy before they were dropped on the field and when most of them would die, and maybe even himself. A plasma bolt, a grenade, a simple mistake, burning alive in his capsule, even accident, there were so many ways the man could fall died upon the ground.

No. He would not die, there were still blue blooded aliens out there, he needs to spill it, the blue goo needed to be pouring from all of their bodies before he allowed himself to fall to death, only then. He would defy man's inability to defy death, he'd only postpone it.

"This is going to be interesting." Winter whispered to Shelly but seemingly to himself, hands crossed over each other, helmet placed firmly against the floor bellow, foot upon the top like one of those soccer balls.

Lee smiled broadly at Karr, a rare show of expression for the usually stoic Captain.
"Not agitating her, Warrant Officer. Just trying to even the odds.
To someone like her, someone like myself, sometimes sparring is the best form of rest and recreation one could hope for. She just needs to let off some steam before the mission."
He kept on looking as Dansmith showed rudimentary self-defense skills, with the Gunny's obviously superior training only impeded by the fact that she was pulling her blows. He couldn't help but feel that she had been toying with the Corporal, until she threw a kick that would be impossible for Dansmith to block...

[James Mitchell]

James smiled and laughed aloud. "You funeral!" He exclaimed. "Oh and call me Joker." James said, he loved the nickname, it suited him. James eagerly watched, Dansmith shouldn't have stepped in the ring. James figured this wouldn't last much longer though. "Just a matter of time."

The Warrent Officer smiled. "I see. Cunning as alway sir." he said, sifting through his back pocket. He retrived a money clup and sorted through the bills. "Well then Gentilemen... I have 20 bucks, on the Gunny." He said, tossing a 20 on the table ontop of the map.

"Anyone care to up?" he said with a toothy grin.

Seth chuckled, eyes on the hologram. "You know, if I didn't know any better I'd say Dansmith's holding his own. Man's been through hell."
Then he saw the Gunny working her way in and set off a kick he wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of, "But I do know better." Seth chuckled.

"Besides, I'm not much of a betting man. But what the hell, you can't win without some risk." Seth pulled out a carton of cigs. "Think of it as an I.O.U."

"Hey joker, just remember who pulled your out of the fire fight on installation 79 and who mended you back to health" Warren said. It seemed everyone was placing there money on the lady, he was going to look like a fool if he lost this bet.

The ODST watched the betting, a trickle of hidden curiosity buried beneath his grinning persona. The girl would win, there was no doubt. Why not drop down the medic? A friendly beginning.

"Sorry hon, I put down twenty on the medic." Winter broke a pretty boy grin as he dropped a twenty from his combat vest, hidden beneath full assault riffle clips. a perfect square of paper money. Why did he bet? There was nothing else to do and money didn't mean anything for a man who lived off the military and had no need for the stacking bills.

Maybe every Marine needed PT training like Cat's. Because she whooped his a**.

Ashton tried to turn into the kick, to deaden some of the impact. Too bad it was too powerful, because her leg crumpled his arms as he tried to block with them, and drove itself two inches into his side, bending his ribs near the breaking point.

Not to mention it knocked the wind out of him. Dansmith fell to the ground, and before she could "finish" him of, he tapped out, gasping and heaving for breath.

Sergeant Dansmith finally managed to re-inflate his lungs with herculean effort, but his head quickly spun as the lack of Oxygen hit home. He was forced to sit on his a** and recouperate for a moment, the Jeers and jokes form the other marines being no help.

Wiping a bit of blood from his torn skin on his arms (from when he tried to block her armored boot), Ashton smiled weakly.
"Damn good show, Gunney, we should do that again, sometime. Maybe when I find myself some Mark-V armor, it'd be a fair fight!"
At least she didn't have orders to kill.

He stepped forward, two steps. His combat boots swept silently across the floor, as he let down a black gloved hand to the marine who had flopped over with a strong kick from the las, she just ate his lunch, she just kicked the guys a**, twenty dollars gone.

He didn't care.

"Good bout for a medic."
Winter announced to him, pulling lightly against the medics arms, hauling him from the hard floor bellow. He didn't listen to the jeering marines, the laughs sounding off, it had taken a moment and was a bit of entertainment, he needed it. The man needed to get off battle mode, Shelly kept on telling him the AI who had read to much medical material, good thing the medic didn't know him or his volunteer record. Any battle, any engagement, he was the first to through up his hands and hop on board. He was one hell of a crazy guy. So was the guy bellow who him who ran into the ring.

"One kick, and your done!" Warren yelled. He took out 50 bucks and handed it to James. "Someone has to do something" Before anyone could say or do anything Warren walked into the arena. "I'll take you on" Warren said to Cathrine. He decided to help his friend and take some of his shame. If he lost to, it made Ashton look that much less pathetic, not to mention he wanted to take a crack at her. He was already wearing nothing bu fatigues, so he didn't need to take any extra armor off, thou he wished he had some after Ashton's defeat.

Karr laughed. "Alright! I win my 20 bucks back!" he said, snatching it from the table.

"I told you that girl had a grip." He laughed a little.
