Suoh followed Shibuki to a training area outside the village of Rain. Zabuza suggested to Suoh that he seek out Shibuki and the other Rain ninja to learn their techinuqes which were so closely related to those of the Village Hidden in Mist. Suoh saw that Shibuki had taken him near a river on this particular dark and cloudy day.

"Being near the river should help you," Shibuki explained, "I will perform the Tornado of Water and then you will have to copy the jutsu to block my attacks."

Shibuki performed the skill effortlessly. A huge cylinder of water rose out of the river and raced off downstream.

Shibuki turned back to Suoh and completed the explanation, "Normally you use your chakra to push the tornado at your opponent and trap them in its vortex, me having it go downstream was just for demonstration purposes. Go ahead and perform the jutsu."

Suoh easily felt the chakra flow into his hands. With each seal he completed he was able to feel more and more of the water in the river. When he completed the final seal the water flew upward out of the river. Suoh felt a sudden weakness as his chakra moved from him into the water. Suoh took in a breath and began focusing on the water to make it twirl into the tornado it was meant to be.

Just as the jutsu was picking up momentum Shibuki pulled out an umbrella and threw it high into the air. Suoh saw the needles begin raining down. Even in the darkness of the day Suoh could clearly see them glint high above. Suoh felt a heaviness in his hands as he disconnected the tornado from the river and had it swirl around him where it stopped many of the needles and had enough force to redirect those it didn't trap. Suoh gave an extra push and sent it off toward Shibuki who waved it aside.

Shibuki obviously was not pleased with Suoh's attack after it had been explained that Suoh was solely to defend. Shibuki performed the same jutsu that Suoh had just been taught and another Tornado of Water rose out of the river. Suoh decided the best defense in this case would be to maintain a working offense and decided to match his skill against his master. Suoh performed the Tornado of Water jutsu pulling out a second tornado. Shibuki stood a little ways downstream and the Shibuki tornado had already moved up onto land and it was apparent Shibuki didn't have the same amount of exertion that Suoh needed to control such a large volume of water. Suoh realized that lately all he had been training was small amounts of water and the Tornado of Water Jutsu would help him control large volumes of water and thus be an excellent technique for finishing a battle. Shibuki forced the tornado at Suoh. Suoh gasped and pushed his tornado so the two would meet.

The tornado of water summoned by Shibuki was much taller but Suoh's tornaod spun faster. As the two hit the chakras struggled against each other for dominance but after a moment of intense concentration by both Suoh and Shibuki the tornados fell back to the ground as water and ran back towards the river.

Shibuki was able to perform the technique again while Suoh needed to recouperate a bit of his chakra. Suoh felt the tornado surge over him and he quickly was whipped around and bashed among several trees.

Suoh pulled himself back up to his knees as the pain surged and the waters receeded. He took some physical damage but he had restored a bit of his chakra. Suoh performed the seals for Tornado of Water once again and with less effort this time. Shibuki threw several Kunai at the tornado but they were sucked up soundlessly by the moving vortex. Shibuki faked a run to the right to escape the water but Suoh had already anticipated a leftward escape and the tornado hit Shibuki.

Suoh could hear the cling of metal as the knives ran together and cut Shibuki's body.

When the water passed both were catching their breath while on their knees.

Shibuki was first to stand up but didn't do anything. Suoh, after catching his breath from performing the Tornado of Water Jutsu so many times felt his chakra beginning to restore itself. Shibuki grabbed for the discarded umbrella. Suoh realized it probably had some needles left in it. Suoh felt on pants for what weapons he would be able to use to block. He found one of the windmill kunai tucked safely away against the back of his thigh. Suoh waited with his hand poised at the ready to grab the windmill and use it to stop the oncoming needles and take a slash at the umbrella. Shibuki threw the umbrella into the sky once more and the needles came out but obviously weren't heading toward Suoh. Each one glinted menacingly in what little sun had begun to emerge from the clouds as they dove into the new Tornado of Water Shibuki was calling up our of the surface of the river.

Suoh realized if this particular tornado hit him with the arsenal of needles that were spinning around on the inside that he wouldn't get up afterwards and have to take a break from his training to recover. As the tornado approached Suoh he had an insight. As the tornado rushed in front of Shibuki toward Suoh, Suoh would be able to throw a windmill to the left and draw Shibuki's attention away from the right. However, as the tornado of water would come closer it would create a blind spot and if two windmills were throw at the same time on both sides Shibuki would only see one because of his tornadoes blind spot.

Suoh took his opening as the tornado passed directly infront of Shibuki. Shibuki took the bait and went left allowing the tornado to direct itself while Shibuki would block the windmill. Suoh once again saw the second opening as part of his plans. As the second windmill caught Shibuki across the back the tornado fell slightly. Suoh focused his chakra around the water as Shibuki lost focus. Suoh took control of the Tornado and forced it back toward Shibuki.

Shibuki looked surprised as the needle infest Tornado wrapped him in water. Suoh could see the various glints of metal circling Shibuki. When the water passed Suoh realized he was out of chakra and would somehow have to complete this fight without it.

Shibuki yet again got back to his feet and performed the same Jutsu. Suoh knew there must be a way around it. After all the first time Suoh has sent it toward Shibuki, Shibuki was able to just wave it to the side. Suoh racked his brains but still couldn't come up with a way of defeating the tornado without the use of chakra.

Suoh felt for his weapons and realized he had only needles left and those really couldn't help him against the water. Suoh felt the wind whipping around him as the water closed in. Suoh felt the coolness of the clear liquid rush over him. he could see Shibuki outside stargin in controlling the tornado as it whirled its victim into several trees. Suoh winced in pain but realized even if he couldn't get out the other things getting in might be able to help him. As the tornado whipped near the next tree Suoh pulled two needles from his holster and stabbed them both deep into the trunk and held on. He took in a breath as the water moved on without him. Shibuki hadn't realized SUoh had escaped yet and was focused on the tornado as it moved right and enveloped several more trees.

Shibuki had a demented smile of enjoying the bone crushing that the tornado should have been performing if Suoh was still in it. Suoh pulled out both his needles as turned to launch them at Shibuki. As Suoh's feet hit the ground Shibuki turnd to realize Suoh had escaped as he was so focused on the carnage the tornado was creating. Before Shibuki could guard or counter attack one needle found its way deep into the forearm and another into the bicep.

Shibuki lowered his guard. Suoh knew for the moment the fight was over.

"You exhausted all your chakra," commented Shibuki, "It is never wise to battle to exhaustion because then you will have no more tricks to use against your opponent. Even though your body says you are out of chakra come performt he Tornado of Water jutsu again."

Suoh walked into the actual river. He knew being close to the water would make it easier to control. Suoh performed the hand seals and envisioned the whirwind of water coming up out of the river. At first he felt his arms cramp as they sought the chakra he no longer had. He repeated the hand seals which continually scraping the bottom of his chakra stores. Nothing happened at first but after a moment of wishful thinking and pushing through the pain in his body as he sought power that was expended the water rose.

The tornado formed with a tip just above the tree tops and swirling at the same rate as the water moving downstream. Suoh could taste blood in his mouth as he clenched his teeth to keep the tornado going. He pushed the tornado slowly at first. He felt it slowing and dripping back into the river. Once again he gave a forceful push and the thing swirled downstream and out of sight before falling back into the river.

Suoh landed on his back on the bank of the river. His mouth was filled with blood and his head beat like a war drum after Suoh had to force so much out after reaching his limit.

Shibuki smiled at him, "When you stretch your limit you allow for the growth of new chakra and the mastering of the Tornado of Water"

After resting for the night Suoh was mostly back to his state of health before the training to Learn Tornado of Water Technique. Suoh was unable to find Shibuki but he did run into a teacher names Kirisame who watched Suoh battle Shibuki and decided Suoh would be a good candidate to learn the whip of water technique. Kirisame had taken Suoh to an area used by many for basic training. Three tall wooden stumps stood at one end. Suoh recalled how much this simple training area looked like the one he often visited with Zabuza.

"Unlike Shibuki I do not wish to draw blood today" explained Kirisame, "I will tell you how to perform the water whip and you will do it without having a visual example. Once you feel you have enough control over it I will perform an accuracy test to determine if you have mastered it."

Kirisame explained the technique necessary for this jutsu and then stepped back to relax in the shade of a nearby tree. Suoh began molding his chakra. Suoh performed the hand seals very fluidly with much determination. After just a moment of focus Suoh had created a long extension of water coming from his arm. He realized as he molded the chakra around his arm he could control its length and width. It took him several more seconds after performing the jutsu to get it to a long where he felt confortable but when he had accomplished the task he gave several lashes at the large tree pillars.

Suoh was barely scratching the surface of the old bark so he focused his chakra throughout the whip in order for it to hit harder. On his next swing the whip cracked the wood and several drops of water were left behind as Suoh pulled the whip back to reveal a cut in the wood about an inch across and several inches deep.

Suoh gave several more lashes until he had carved the word power in Kanji on the side of the wood. His knuckles were beginning to hurt from the constant output of chakra but it was only an annoyance and not really painful. Suoh lashed out and wrapped the whip around the stump. As the end touched he formed the two together to make a stronger place from which to pull and gave a tug by pulling his arm back. The whip became taught as Suoh attempted to pull the stump out. Suoh could feel the stretgth of the Water Whip but knew he didn't have enough strength to pull out the stump with so little water. Suoh turned to Kirisame but the master was already gone. Suoh heard the sound of several projectiles coming from his left. He turned quickly cracking the whip at their noise.

Kirisame stood a little ways off smiling, "See I told you no blood would get spilled in this exercise. Just make sure you keep moving and keep away from pointy objects."

Kirisame launched a larger volley of small needles. Suoh counted in his head before giving a quick twirl with the whip snagging all but two of the needles which floated aimlessly over his head as he ducked to avoid them.

Kirisame began heading into the forest. Suoh followed expecting traps of projectiles to be set up for him. Once Suoh had enterred the cover of the trees he realized Kirisame was already hiding but had prepared an attack for him. Suoh tripped a small wire that sent an umbrella soaring high into the air. It unleashed a whirwind of needles but suoh extended the length of his whip and focused a small amount of extra chakra in his feet and began spinning. The whip formed a type of barrier around him as he spun blocking the needles that dove through the canopy at the target.

Suoh took several deep breaths before seeing something out of the corner of his eye dart up into the branches. Suoh followed. It was Kirisame leaping swiftly from branch to branch. Suoh followed as best he could but Suoh normally didn't train in such thick folliage like what existed in the canopy outside the village of rain. Every now and then Kirisame would turn around and launch several shuriken. Suoh was become fastly adept at stopping them with the whip even while moving forward. Suoh was expecting more tricks.

Kirisame to several turns to the left and began heading in the same general direction as from whence they came. He turned but suoh saw he had performed the seal of the dog as he turned. Suoh knew to expected a trick from the shuriken. As the black star spun toward him Suoh brought the whip up and prepared to crack it. As Suoh landed on a branch he felt something brush against his calf and realized he had broken two trap wires.

A shuriken from the left and from the right launched at him. Suoh used the momentum from bringing the whip to shoulders height to spiral through the air. During this he was able to dodge both the side stars but it put the whip in such a position that he was not able to block the one coming head on and he simply allowed it to bury itself in his forearm. The pain from the shuriken took his mind instantly off the low hum of pain coming from his knuckles from essentially punching the wood earlier.

It was this pain in his arm that helped Suoh realize he had been forgetting everything he had in his arsenal. Not only was he completely forgetting to utilize his left arm he was forgetting part of the Mizu lineage was the ability to perform Jutsu single handed.

Suoh jumped from branch to branch faster as Kirisame headed back toward the training grounds. Suoh had lessened the length of his whip since he was confined to such a constricted area. he began to save and gather his chakra for once they enterred the clearing.

Kirisame had led Suoh through the forest and stood prepared back on the ground in the clearing. Suoh landed holding the symbols of the ox with his left hand and the Whip of Water technique in his right.

Kirisame launched a volley of Kunai. Suoh could feel a strain in his forehead as he tracked all the chakra around him. He used the whip and deflected each one up into the air. As Kirisame watched them glint in the sunlight to make sur enone owuld come down on top of himself a whirlwine of water came out of the trees.

As SUoh had followed Kirisame out of the cover of the trees he maintained the whip of water with his right hand and used his left hand to mold chakra enough to perform a Tornado of Water technique that Shibuki had taught him the day before. Kirisame while whatching the projectiles was overcome by the surprise attack of water. The cyclone had come from a small stream that ran just inside the tree line. Suoh had expended much of his chakra attempting to make the tornado while moving and have it come from quite far away while maintaining the focus on his Whip of Water to prevent having his current teacher notice anything different. The kunai that Suoh had deflected fell out of the sky and into the tornado along with the branches and stones it had carried out of the forest. After several violent moments of spinning in the clearing the water fell to the ground dropping Kirisame on his back in the clearing. Suoh used the whip of Water to wrap it around his teacher's foot and pull him several feet closer with a jerk until Suoh was standing over the teacher.

Kirisame looked into Suoh's eyes and Suoh locked eyes witht he man on the ground waiting for approval of his mastery of the technique of the whip of water. Kirisame reached a hand up and pulled the bloodied shuriken out of Suoh's arm before giving him a smile and telling him congratulations.
