"Corpses, sir. They're dead, alright. You saw that. But they don't all look Covenant. I definitely saw a human in there, and something else; I'm not sure what it was. I had Angel lock the doors behind me, just as a precaution. There was one other way out from down there, and that was to go deeper into the structure, sir. But we'd have to basically go knocking on their front door to get down there to seal it off." Dansmith stood up to his full height, and gave himself a quick stem of simple sugars and nutrients, to make up for the brutal sprint up.

"Damnit! My readings of the squad list Master Sergeant Henry's vitals as if the man were in a coma. Where the hell was he last, sir?!" Dansmith did not want anything bad to happen to Henry, but there was no Nav marker anywhere that indicated the Master Sergeant's position. Dammit!

''Henry? Sergeant Henry?" Mendez checked his HUD and saw that he neglected the blinking amber light in the corner. "s**t. Where the hell is he Marines? I want a Sitrep on him, NOW!'' Frantically looking around the area, he saw other marines doing the same. "Does anyone have his last location?"

Warren pulled himself off the floor and took his helmet off and threw it to the ground. It hit the ground and rolled across the hallway about a meter away from him. He forced himself to sit down and lean his back against the wall of the metal hallway he was in. He sat there in thought of what he saw, and knew he had to check out that hut, now. He grabbed his helmet and put it on, and saw there was a video up link waiting for him, he played it.

After the video was finished, he stood himself up using his right arm to keep him standing. "Ashton what's your status, over?" He got nothing but static back. Warren frowned in his helmet."Mendez, can you hear me, check on Ashton. Your closer to his location, over" He got nothing but static back again. He turned on open com" Anyone out there?" Nothing but static. "The fall must have damaged my helmet" he complained.

He walked out of the building, without communication. He shouldn't be in there he told himself. He walked outside and looked at marines who set them selves up in defensive positions around the building. He walked outside in a trance and found himself heading in the direction of the hut. He reached the hut and it was outside of the marines controlled area and he tried to push the door open, It wouldn't open.

He examined the area around the door and found a little device right beside the door and he waved his hand over it and the door opened. Humans always had a knack for being able to use Forerunner technology without knowing why. He entered and saw all the computer's from his earlier vision was full of dust and cobwebs. All except the one terminal, he touched it with the palm of his right hand and it opened and Warren felt like he was sucked into it.

Words in a alien language rolled across the screen he figured and they then translated instantly. He didn't even have a second to read them before the page turned again. It turned just as fast every time, he didn't have time to read them, but for some reason he already knew what they said. Like they were being installed into his brain. This information was overwhelming and at this point all he wanted to do was get away.

His eye's rolled back into his skull and he Squeezed his hand so tight his fingernails broke threw the leather and started cutting into his skin. His knee's shook violently wanting to give out, but some force kept him standing. Warren had no idea for what his body was doing, for his mind was some where else.

Scott ran through the village. He knew he shouldn't have left the sergeant alone. Even if he was a superior, Sergeant Henry wasn't in a good frame of mind. He had a condition called "psychological unrest." Scott knew. He'd had it before.

Scott approached one of the Marines outside of the hut. The boy looked like a Private, so Scott knew he could get an honest answer out of him.

"Boy, did an ODST just enter this structure?" The private looked nervous, but answered quickly. "Yessir. He just put his hand on that pad and the doors slid open."

Scott placed his hand on the pad the private had shown him. It let out a loud groan, the universal sound for "no entry."

"s**t!", Scott whispered. He opened a public comm line. As he did this, something popped up on his HUD. It was the sergeant's vitals.

They'd just pinged KIA.

"This is Corporal Jackson. Requesting immediate demolitions and medical specialists. Sergeant Warren Henry just went KIA. I repeat, Sergeant Henry is KIA. He's trapped in a hut on the far side of the village. I need help now!"

Seth opened an open com and began speaking, "You heard the Doc Marines, we've got a man down, Warren Henry, ODST we need to find him and we need to find him now. Don't bother calling doc says he's in a Coma."

Rushing to search inside one of the buildings Seth continued, "I Want Marines in pairs of threes searching every last inch of this place, don't touch any switches don't pull any levers, we need to find Henry before he becomes KIA. Now Marines!"

As he kept moving from building to building peeking in -- and being joined by two other Marines, Seth added, "Anyone who may know where he is, say it now and get his location to Dansmith ASAP. If you find him, don't touch him or move him, we're not 100% on his condition."

-----
Receiving a transmission from a Marine Seth felt a cold rush and a sinking feeling, "You heard him Dansmith we need you--and a demo crew, there now. Anyone in the area get your asses over there. We don't know what got him."
Seth began to run over to the area the Marine indicated.

(Only Spartans, can use Terminals)

Warren's body was almost bleeding from all over, Old scars and cuts were re-opening. Blood flowed down from his arms and legs and even the scar under his right eye reopened and bled down his face. Blood was coming out of his nose. His body was shaking violently, and his heart was racing.

"What the hell is going on?" He yelled trapped inside that machine. "Let me out of here!". The pages continued to flash and he seemed to be entering personal records of some sort. Warren tried to focus on exiting, but the flashing images kept breaking his concentration.

Lee had been preoccupied with moving the ten cryogenic tubes his squads had found on the second story of the small building, the identities of the tubes' inhabitants coming as nothing but the most complete of surprises. Lost in thought, Ashton's declaration of an alien presence and Warren's sudden change in condition could not have come at a worse time. The Captain, now sure that whatever had targeted Warren from the beginning was dangerous, had no choice but to pull back the entire company before anyone else fell to the lethal "frequency" the Sergeant had succumbed to. The residents of the tubes would have to wait for return to the Monterey before they would awake.

Running down the staircase two steps at a time, Lee leapt onto the pavement at the small building's entrance and dashed out into the streets of the small village. Passing Ashton and the crew that had been moving the third cryo-tube on a hover-sled, the Captain raced forwards and quickly arrived near Seth, who had arrived at the entrance to the hut Warren was drawn to at the edges of the village. A demolitions team was approaching quickly from another secured building down the dirt path.
"Lieutenant, give me a rundown of the situation here.
Everybody else not taking care of the cryo-tubes or Warren's situation, go and double-time those tubes back to the pelicans ASAP."

"Warren's inside sir. I haven't heard a word from him. Dansmith reported his vitals showing up comatose..." Seth looked for the Demolition team quickly on it's way, "That's all we know Sir." He said his voice had a tinge of what could be either hopelessness or annoyance.

The shed door opened and Warren walked out, his ODST armor was ripped from the inside out and the visor on his helmet had seemed to of blown up on the inside, leaving a giant hole in the helmet, all you could see thou was Warren''s bloody face. Blood was dripping from the gashes in his armor and he took 2 more steps and the door closed behind him.

Even thou no one could see it, his eye's were blood shot red. He took several painful steps past the Marines surrounding the hut, most of them to shocked and stunned to even re-act. He turned around and looked at them. "He.....he....help" Warren coughed up blood onto the ground and fell on his knee's and elbows. He puked up blood a few more times and then fell on the ground Unconsienece, lying in a puddle of his own vomit.

Scott turned toward the captain. He stood at ease, not at attention like he should toward a senior officer. Now was not the time for formalities.

"Corporal Jackson reporting sir. I was with Sergeant Henry after his earlier 'episode'. When I saw him enter the designated building I let him out of my sight, but when I looked at my nav readout I saw him missing. It's my fault that he's trapped sir. I knew that he would be compelled to enter this structure. And with his condition I should have kept a better eye on him."
____
Scott turned around as a gust of air blew from behind. He stared as Sergeant Henry walked out of the hut and dropped to the ground.

"Warren!" Scott was on the ground with him. He turned the unconscious sergeant over and felt his chest. Then he turned to the Captain.

"He has a pulse sir, but it's faint. He needs to get back to the ship." Scott knew he could get court martialled for talking to a superior like that, but it didn't matter now. All that mattered was that Warren lived.

Henry came out and fell hard, blood was everywhere. "Dansmith!" Seth shouted, as if he needed any prompting.

For the most part Seth watched the Captain, waiting on edge for him to give word. There wasn't anything he could do for Henry that Dansmith couldn't.

Opening a private channel Seth contacted Mendez, "What the hell was that?" He asked quietly.

Lee was as startled as the Demo team was when the doors suddenly whooshed open to reveal Warren's bleeding silhouette. And when Warren collapsed, vomiting and leaking vital fluids all over the place he was as tempted as anyone to call for a medic. But one thing held him back. Whatever had gotten Warren had come from that hut.
"Get away from that entrance, marine."
Lee took Corporal Jackson's shoulder and wrenched him away from Warren's body, almost throwing the larger man back as he raised his battle rifle at the opening from which had emerged the now-unconscious ODST. His voice was calm as the horrified marines around him stared and began to chatter.
"Dansmith, I want you to scan Warren's vitals for cerebral tissue damage and viral agents. NOW."
Holding Jackson back became harder as the unconscious Sergeant in front of them puked up more blood and lost a little more time. He was running out of options, and if they didn't act quick Warren's life was forfeit.
"Angel. Tell me now if there's something dangerous in that shed or not.
Seth, get the boys out of here, Dansmith and I will take care of this one.
Make sure those tubes get back to the pelicans, Lieutenant. The people inside are worth more than everything on the Monterey and it's crew combined."

"There's a large amount of radiation coming from inside, sir. Looks like it's coming from a terminal of sorts. Be advised, entering could be lethal."

. . . . .

"Sir, looks like we've got one contact moving in to intercept our boys with the cryopods; it's not a Sentinel."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 9:44 pm

Lee listened intently to Angel's message before deciding on the course of action. By the time she had finished her second sentence, he had motioned for Dansmith to help him with the radiation-soaking blanket the medic's pack contained. Warren's bleeding body was half-wrapped and being lifted onto a nearby hover-sled when Angel's second message gritted through Lee's helmet speakers.
Patting Warren's unconscious body, he looked over to Dansmith and the two hover-sled operators.
"You three, meet me back at the Pelicans, I'm going ahead."
Channeling SQUAD-COM, he began running after the rest of the platoon, a few marines in tow, when he finally saw it in the distance. A faint glimmer of light was quickly approaching, advancing at speeds impossible for a human to match. Soon, it would catch up to the cryo-pods and their precious passengers, a thought that didn't please Lee in the least.
"Able, you have incoming! Hold your fire, but if it attempts to damage or remove one of the cryo-pods you have authorization to open fire."
