Kayla didn't release Puglith yet, but bent down and hefted Takeshi over her shoulder with apparent ease. Outside of the heat of battle, the demon had become bored very quickly and was chatting idly with Oscufrillius, or rather at him as the latter rarely responded. She deposited him on the floor in the entrance hall, laid out neatly on the carpet and out of the way so as not to be stepped upon. Only when this was done did she release Puglith. After she got over the painful jolt of having hundreds of armored scales disappear into her skin, she sat down on a chair to wait for the rest and began meditatin again to restore energy, and found herself daydreaming.

A man stood at a cliffside under a bright gray sky, the same man from her previous dream though she didn't know it. He kicked a few rocks into the ocean, and then let out a great yell of frustration. He wheeled around, this time looking past Kayla's vantage point. He looked suddendly furious, his eyes were practically spitting fire. The mellowed instantly though when he caught sight of another spectator to his one-man-show, a strongly built blonde woman in her late forties. She looked worried, and a little scared. "Kayla," she said.

Vassily said, and Kayla felt the dream slip away like sand. All she could remember was the smell of seawater and the furious man's eyes.

He sounded a little anxious though, and there wasn't anybody else in the hall yet aside from Joe and the unconcious Takeshi.

(Ehh heh. Whoops. I actually had a nagging feeling I had a name wrong in there. Thanks for the reminder.

I mean, you saw nothing.

Siber watched in shock as Takeshi's gunshots and blasts systematically cleared the room of opponents. With a quick thanks he released Firage, who had become unnecessary when Kayla regained her feet, and immediately made a quick scan of the area, despite Legion's congratulations. Stages are one of the easiest things to alter subtly enough that only other designers can notice the change, playing with the eyes and mind and subsequent power of suggestion like a toddler with Playdough. There was something, something besides the suddenly dead bodies, which had changed.
reminded Keldan.
Siber cursed. The dead bodies didn't have so much as a scratch on them- they had been healed, even in death.
He headed out last, still keeping an eye out for surprises. Erik was scaring him a little; he actually ended up right behind the kid. Erik had been having... way too much conflict over whether he was happy or serious while killing all the dead guys.
Once he reached the designated area, he asked Keldan if he knew any healing.

The method involved a metaphysical connection the caster had to make between darkness and light in the receiver's soul, mind, and physical state, and light itself. Also, Keldan had added in a little mental interplay- but that had to be left out, due to Legion's earlier decree. He knelt down beside Takeshi's body, put his hand on the guy's forehead, and focused on his own Anahata, desire for emotional depth, which would supply the emotion he needed for this to work. It was a little difficult to summon any real emotion. Then, Takeshi's body blackened for a moment as it absorbed all the light touching it. After a few moments, he was breathing more steadily, if just a tiny bit fast and shallow. Siber sat down again and leaned against a wall, closing his eyes to await Legion's orders.
He had begun to wonder if it might be fun to change things up a little soon- he just didn't know how...

Takeshi groaned, tried to sit up - failed. He slid off the chair onto the ground, holding himself up on all-fours. A stream of vomit poured from his mouth onto the rug.

"I'm glad to see you didn't overexert yourself, Takeshi," Legion commented. He was sitting on nothing again, but this time twelve feet in the air for no apparent reason. "Didn't Haru think to advise you not to do such a thing?"

"Yup," Takeshi answered after spitting out the last of what had probably been a large quantity of mochi ice cream. "Did it anyway... to earn... some slight reprieve for... them..."

Legion smiled.

"How sweet. Anyway. You'll have time to rest on the plane."

Takeshi, after a moment of confusion, managed to pull himself together enough to ask what plane Legion referred to.

"A solo mission in the vein of your previous employment. You'll return within a day or two. Tickets are in your room," Legion answered. He smirked and added, "Good luck!"

Takeshi groaned once more, rose to his feet, and stumbled back to his room.

Joe watched Takeshi go, his head cocked. "Wait, so...what does he do?" Joe asked. "And why is he leaving right before our first mission? I think we're gonna need him."

Erik found himself in the main hall, surrounded by the others. The smells of new vomit, sulfur, and decay entered his nostrils. He felt tired, but at the same time a little exhilarated. He was a little confused as to what had happened, so he sat down to think.

"There are certain items we could make very good use of," Legion explained. "His previous employment was a hitman, for the Yakuza. He's going to take out a group of Hunters and retrieve a cache of magical artifacts before the Hunters can find a place to hide them, because if they do that, we'll never be able to obtain them."

He glanced at the vomit and snapped his fingers. It sank into the carpet as a wind blew through the hall. No sign that it was ever there could be found.

"Bah. We don't have time to wait for Sindhlot. It's best to keep him out of hunter sights for now, anyway," Legion suddenly decided. "I have him tracked to a hotel, fairly close. The Hunters are already moving for him. I've set up a homing beacon." He held up a necklace with a small arrowhead design. "Seek." It tilted so the arrow was pointing vaguely at a wall. "It doesn't account for obstacles, so just remember that's the exact direction he's in, not the path you should follow. The Hunters have a slight head start on you, but you're starting a little closer to him. If you encounter the hunters... run. You're not ready. You have no idea of the strength of these ones. I'll be working support for you, but I will not intervene directly unless totally necessary. Now, go forth, and bring me our lost brother."

"I'll run recon, I can shadowsetp really easily on a bright day like today. I'll be watching from the rooftops when something inevitably goes wrong." She walked outside first and climbed up the fire escape before sinking into the trance, taking her time so as to integrate Oscurfillius as completley as she could. If she took her time, the effects of the transformation would be more potent, so she did. She had to take two tries, though.

The first time, she was jolted out of her trance with the sick realization that Hielith was watching again. Her heart pounding, she tried again, this time sucessfully.

Joe stood up and stretched. "All right. I guess Siber, Erik, and I can manage to get one guy out from in front of an unknown number of hostile, definitely deadly enemies. Piece of cake." He sighed and set off for the door. "You guys comin?" he asked over his shoulder.

Siber glanced up wearily. His body was being taxed more than was reasonable today. Then again, summoning dæmons was possibly the furthest from reasonable he had yet come. He stood, putting on another mask, this one of vibrance, and followed Joe. He wished he knew more about their charge- dumb hostages had a tendency to really foul up the matter of getting them out alive. Even smart ones, in emotionally potent situations, seemed to forgo all caution and rationality and just end up getting themselves killed.

"Lord Legion- what kind of person are we saving? How much does he know about this? If I may ask."

"You're looking for a man named Samuel. He's a pure Elementalist Evoker whose Warlock is a favorite of mine, a pyromaniac named Gurul. He's evaded some Warlock hunters, but only on a level with the ones you evaded; not any strong or particularly skilled ones, and certainly not Hunters with the equipment of those you'll be facing," Legion explained. "Oh, and a last bit of advice: Watch for snipers." He turned and began to walk away. "Oh, here," he suddenly commented, throwing the seeker necklace over his shoulder and into Siber's hands without missing a step.

Joe shivered.
What the hell was that?

Train against? Why can't I train WITH him?

Joe simply swallowed hard. He was going to have to train hard then and beat this Samuel, if only to stay alive.

Erik was beginning to get a handle on the situation. They were about to retrieve a comrade by the name of Samuel. All right, he could do that. He stood up and cleared his mind.

Erik felt a little deja vu from this comment as he followed the others out.
