Despite the control that he just showed another clone would vanish. This time it looked a little different however. It would turn to mist and then steam away. Like it had extreme heat applied to it. That one was now completely whipped out. His original numbers were halved now. But that was a part of growth. There were sparks flying off the ninjato of the other clones. It was a good thing it wasn't his real blades down there, or he would need to find a whole new one after this was over with.

Rai was starting to get the feel for this. But at the same time he was noticing reaccuring patterns. And if he used this in battle, he would get too predictable. Patterns were considered weak spots in combat. They left openings. He thought for a moment and realized he didn't have much of a chakra reserve left to use any jutsu with the clones. He would for now just watch on as he calmly controlled the movement of his clones. It looked like poetry in motion. Parrying and dodging with a grace that was unnatural for him. It was clear they were clones and not him.

Rai's eyes fell closed. He was trying this again. He wanted to just be able to control his clones and his chakra by feel alone. If he was doing all of this and not getting anything out of it what would be the point? He was focusing a gentle current of chakra at this small distance. And it was working. The clones even were taking small amounts of cuts along their arms and legs. The blood looked real and they were holding form. It was coming along nicely. It might not have looked pretty, but it was getting the job done. And that was the point of almost any exercise unless it was seduction. And that was fine since he was the type to succumb to seduction, not cast it.

The trek through the scarcely traveled route of the canyon was a quiet and familiar one. She had only ran this passage way round trip once, but that was really the only experience one needed to have a lasting impression of the journey. This time, however, she knew a bit more about what to expect. The climbs didn't feel as tough and the shifts in elevation weren't as foreign. Also, the time didn't seem to drag on as long. Perhaps because now she knew what to look for. She would know when she was getting close.
Soon the air was noticeably thinner and cooler around her. The soil beneath her feet hardened with every few bursts of stride. It wouldn't be much longer before her feet ran against snow and her body against cold winds. Her traveling canteen rested supportively in her satchel, but Amaya was pleased to note that she really didn't need it just yet, plus, she was already nearly there.

And looking at Raisuke it was clear that his concentration would not be broken at all. Since his real body would remain motionless. He looked like a statue in a sitting pose. A statue portraying meditation. That was... special? While over on the water, the clones were still going at it. Sparks and shards of the blades flying off enough to cut each other up more as well as burn garments of clothing. They all looked like a beaten up mess. One wouldn't even be able to recall a time that the real Rai had even been that damaged. Except for the time when Rai sparred with Giglamesh-sensei. He took Gokakyu in the face and hadn't died from it. Good times.

One of the clones had taken the brunt of most of those flying shards of hot metal. And this was real enough that he may even start to smell like blood soon. Or he would have, but his time had ran out. The red ooze started to turn a crystal blue color and change its density. Then soon, it would just collapse back from where it was born. It rejoined the river like so many had before it. And the number of clones were once again even. Hopefully Rai had control enough here to complete his training. He should.. it was nearly complete now. He pretty much had the hang of it.

And the clones would pause now. Rai opening his eyes for a moment. He would need full concentration for this. He would reshape his hand signs, casting the ones that he had used to form the clones in the first place. Then what appeared to be large droplets of water would slowly start to creep up the bodies of the clones. And it hit a gash or damaged area of their blades it would sizzle. Then it would start to heal that portion of the figure. It was like he partially recast the clones themselves. This was like a whole new level of control for him. He didn't think this idea would work, but obviously he was wrong.

With the clones healed, it would be like they were paired off in groups when they made the next move. These three all had their blades faced down so that the hilt was facing up. They moved fast enough that it almost looked as if they had the body flicker technique. The hilts ran in to the other clones stomach. Then their heads all dropped. The three attacking clones rose a left knee right into the foreheads of the kneeled down ones. Causing them to stumble back groggily. Then the after image effect happened as the clones moved in again. Palm thrusting the weakened three in the solarplex. Sending them flying and skipping across the water like a flat rock.

Those three clones would be lost now. There was no way that Rai could do anything to stop them from bursting. Even if he had the control to do so, he just didn't have the proper amount of chakra left to fix them. They were skipping across the water fast enough that flesh was peeling off. And ontop of all of that they would impact the shoreline. Bursting and sending water airborne. And then... SPLASH. It soaked the real Rai. He got a veinpop on the side of his head. Causing another clone to burst in his frustration. That was a bad move on his part.

The clones that were left started to walk over to where Rai was. And at that same time, Rai would stand and walk toward the clones. The veinpop on the side of his head still there. As they got close and stepped onto dry land he would rush and send his hands at them. Hands formed into a V. Cutting through their throats as they burst into puddles. He just had killed.. two of himself. He was now done, but had worse to come. He now had to go meet his sensei in the Tsuchikami Gorge. Great, time to freeze.

Rai had brought something with him to the Canyon one time. It was right after his first trip to the Gorge. He bundled up a bag of warmer clothing. Well, actually it was mainly a warm jacket. With fur around the hood of it all the way down the inner seam. It almost looked like a fashion accessory instead of training gear. He would start to sweat a little before he even starting to make his way down the canyon. Great.. he was going to sweat, then it was going to freeze to his face. Just wonderful. He had planned to run full speed but wouldn't be able to do it on the water. He didn't have any chakra left. How the blue hell was he supposed to train without chakra reserves, especially with Giglamesh-sensei? Well this was certainly going to be a testament of will power.

As he ran along the edge of the river Raisuke noticed the similarities from the last time he had traveled to the Gorge. Though he was running on the water before. It was small things he remembered. Like the trees here and there. The slowly dropping temperatures. While his sweat didn't stop it seemed to slow in production. And he wasn't using chakra so it would seem like it took forever to get there. He knew he was only a little over half way there. It wasn't cold enough to be too terribly close yet. That he was gad of. He remembered that bitter cold.

Rai would give off a little sigh. He could only imagine what his sensei had in store for him at the gorge. To entrap him in ice.. to get wet and then with stand the cold for hours.. to see what temperature blood exposed to air froze at? He honestly had no clue. Giglamesh-sensei wasn't often predictable and this day would most likely be no different. As Raisuke let his pondering come to a close, he felt it. His foot stepping down on damp grass.
Rai continued in as he met the colder weather. And soon it would start to get slick. The ground started to crack under his feet as he got to the icy ground. At least the traveling was over. He was at the first point of the Gorge.

Rush arrived at the outskirts of the canyon, a majestic place. He found beauty in all types of scenery given how many villages he's lived in, but Iwa was really starting to grow on him. His thoughts didn't suggest mutiny or anything to Suna, he just enjoyed his time here a lot, and after the Chuunin's it'd be rough to leave. But he had to leave in style and learn a new jutsu. One that might actually help him in case the last round of the exam was like a deathmatch fight or something. He had a tome full of different jutsu in Konoha hidden in the hole in a tree somewhere, safe from when the villages were invaded. He longed to return for it, but he had been so busy that it still remains a lost artifact. Thankfully, Rush didn't rely on the book being with him to learn candy jutsu. He was insightful enough that he could learn jutsu with his inate ability and the ideas behind basic jutsu he already knew. There was a talent in there that described making bushins, a low level jutsu he and almost every shinobi was proficient with, out of gum. It was a basic enough concept that he could grasp and surely complete with a lot of preactice. Rush could make bushins just fine, and he had a decent chakra control so forming them with his bloodline candy chakra should be within the possible. It would take days though, if not longer and he didnt have hopes of any sort of success so soon. But he had to start somewhere, and now was the time. He planted his feet in the ground and focused his chakra thinking of a bushin. Simple enough; he proceeded to envision it made out of a sticky gum that could root his enemies still. He then released his chakra with a handseal. He had no intention of trying to make a bunch of them in one go, one was the goal at first, and his results would show very little this early on.
1/80 Jutsu Name: Gamu Bushin no Jutsu (Gum Clone Jutsu) Description of Jutsu: The user makes dense clones of himself that are composed of a sticky chewing gum material. They are slow and lumbering but when they attack or are attacked, they latch on to the opponent, slowing him down and sometimes prevent arm or leg movement. Rank: B Cp Cost: 15 cp per clone, can create one clone per 10 ranks in ninjutsu past the requirement, limit of 5 Damage: N/A Requirements: Okashi Juritsu Bloodline, Chk 30, ninjutsu 40, chkra control 40 Training: 8 days Special: *The user can have each clone he make one attack per turn with a bonus equal to the users highest melee attack bonus. Each succesful hit, the clone latches on, giving the target a -2 to dexterity per successful hit. *If someone attacks and hits a clone with melee, different effects occur depending on what hit the clone. If it is the hand that connects, the attacker inccurs the standard -2 dex as well as that hand being stuck. This means that they can not do any jutsu that requires handseals and obviously cant hold anything in that hand. *If a foot is what connects, there's the -2 dex and the attacker is considered immobilized meaning they can't move from that spot. *If a weapon is what connects, the clone may make an instant disarm check (with the same bonus the user of the jutsu has) and slowly pull the weapon into itself intill the clone is gone or revoked. *If a ranged weapon hits it absorbs the weapon, gone until the clone is at which time it falls to the ground like an absorbed melee weapon. *If hit by a ninjutsu it doesn't absorb or stick to anything, it dissapears like a normal bushin. *If an appendage is grabbed by the bushin, the stuck can make a DC 30 strength check to pull whatever part of them is in it out. Owner: The candy clan (Okashi Juritsu)

The result, while absolutely nothing to be proud about, was better than he expected. A mass of pink goo that had appendages resembling arms flailed around three feet off the ground. No one said it'd be pretty, but that thing would shame Doctor Frankenstein. Rush maintained an upbeat mood for this excersize. Learning the candy trap jutsu took a lot of patience as well and he managed to complete that. It just took patience. Rush had the blob thing dissapate, and he began focusing again in preparation for a second attempt. When he had visualized the clone again, infused with his bloodline chakra, he open his eyes and made the seal, releasing the chakra. . .
