I was looking through request threads and I saw someone had put in their rules that people weren't to ask them who did the art in their request thread (in the examples and banners etc) because it was rude to ask (under the explanation that the requester had worked hard to look for artists and ... well, that was the only reason given).
So ... thoughts? Is it really impolite to ask? I always state who drew something when I post in my request thread and the idea that it would be rude for someone to ask seems a bit bizarre to me.
On an unrelated note ... rate my avatar, please? <- bored. I'll rate yours (;
Lol. You know there are those personality tests where it's strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, and then strongly disagree? I'm whatever is past, to the right of that 'strongly disagree' bubble. As an artist, I'm
offended, lol. It's not like just not citing a piece - it's like removing my signature. "Oh, someone worked for me, but they don't matter."
Pretty sure if I did something for someone, I'd like them to tell whoever wanted to know. After all, as artists, we tend to look for work and need all the help we can get. Suffice to say, you try to get your name out there, one commissioner shouldn't be guarding it back like it's a secret of the gods.
So, this commissioner worked hard to find his artist? I don't know of any art whore who hasn't. And in turn, the artist probably worked hard on the piece and could use a recommendation in exchange. It's rude to an artist to think that you shouldn't spread their name or else they'll stop working for you.
Nyah, I just like my credit when I do something. I'm probably reading too deep between the lines, but that's my opinion.
