"No it cannot be reset. That's the way of humans." Giving a chuckle and crossing her arms lightly over her chest. "Really now? Well that's reassuring I suppose. Thank you for that. Of course everyone hopes to die in a perferred way but it's up to whatever powers that be, or fate, or whatever you look to to decide and what not. Life should be one big adventure."
And a light up of her eyes. "Shyrae has family?!" A little giggle. "Skylheera has family." Nodding enthusiastically at that. Yes, she had actual clutch mates, three of them to be exact that they recognized each other by blood and instinct as siblings. All of them rider dragons and all always togther...except for now. Suddenly that sad look overcame her as well as that quivering bottom lip that came when crying was about to ensure. "Sky alone now..."
Letting her hands slip away with a light sigh she turned her eyes to follow his, looking to the black that was the center of controversy around here lately. Besides her own issues that is. "No, I've only seen one black." And they both knew that that was his mother. But then a startled blink at the rest of the imformation. "Your...mother's brother? Your uncle? We've never seen him before...you think he would come around. Do you believe him?"

Ah, so humans could not be reset. Well, she supposed that made sense. "Why are you not reproducing then? Has your mate not come forward yet?" She was familiar with her own kind's meeting and mating processes not humans but she assumed they were pretty close to the same.
"Yes, I do. Lots of family but they live in a different place." And another surprise. Sky had family? She recognized that gesture and reached out, tugging the woman over to her and hugging her tightly in a gesture of affection and comfort. "No, you're not. You have me, Kaznec, and anyone else you want, Sky. We're friends. We're not quite family but sometimes friends can be just as good." Giving her a smile and chucking her under the chin. "Tell me about your family?"

Exactly, only one black until now. He thought so too but something inside him wanted to really make sure. Maybe it was this opportunity of having another family member in his life; definitely not enough to replace his mother but still... "He said he spends all his days in the salt beds and in that form. Also, avoiding Ilindal because my father and him don't get along." Steady gaze on Sae. "I want to, but it's very strange how he would suddenly appear after all these years and try to help me, or us. And if he hates my father and blames him for... then it's possible that he's thinking the same of me but just not saying it out loud."

Hunter looked over his shoulder.
"Maybe for magic wielding elves they aren't. for us mere humans, a dragon is a very dangerous and more then formidable opponent. the few times I've dealt with dragons we find only thier eyes offer any vulnerability to our weapons. even cannon's don't aways dent thier scales."
patting his hand on the railing.
"which is exactly why I wanted that pest's power. we saw her change form, and we've seen her accomplice manipulate the weather. if that is not the limitation of thier skill, then such power would prove quite useful in subduing if not destroying and old wurm like him."
A slight smirk to the female elf.
"What do you do with dragons then, mighty elf?"

"Why am I not reproducing yet? Well I suppose careful planning would be the answer to that, or old wives remedies. I guess I've always seen kids as something you do when you settle down. The sandseas are not a place to be raising babies and what not. And men are fickle creatures...I don't need a mate as you would call them."
She was a little confused at first but settled easily in Shyrae's hold, taking comfort in the gesture. But this was a new concept too. "Not blood. Friends?" What was this brand new term? A little explaination later and it seemed that it made a bit more sense. "Three brothers. Blue and green. Older." A little smile at them. "Back home."
"Well...that all does seem plausible. We've never been to the salt beds before and if he stays away...well then we wouldn't see him. I wouldn't say he appeared so much as we wandered into the right place at the right time." Watching him a moment, trying to figure what was in his head but not really being able to...he was so swamped sometimes she thought it was too much for him. "You know that no one was to blame for that Kaznec..."
She gave a chuckle, "You humans...that's your problem. You rely too much on the magic and powers of those around you instead of proving yourselves our equals by stepping up with that survival instinct and way of yours that is unique to your kind from your limited life spans. Humans are dangerous and ingenious creatures, especially when they band together." Shaking her head lightly as she tightened a knot. "Me? Well I'm a necromancer...wouldn't take too much effort to imagine what I do with them, Captain."

"Children can be raised anywhere a mother desires. Would not the sandseas be in their blood as well?" That's what she'd always heard in regards to children. They often followed in their parents' footsteps whatever those happened to be. "You plan to never take one, then?" Pausing a moment, "Why?"
Shyrae smiled and moved her fingers through Sky's hair gently then nodded. "I have brothers, too. I have sisters as well and I miss them very much sometimes. She was assuming Sky missed hers as well though sometimes you never knew for sure. It was kind of upsetting to know that three dragons whom Sky loved very much were still stuck under the Riders thumb. "What would you tell them if you could see them now, Sky?" Was that too hard for her to comprehend? Shyrae didn't think so but she'd have to wait and see.

Even Jae thought it was plausible, that meant that he wasn't letting his personal issues mess with his responsibilities right? No, he was and he was trying hard not to but it wasn't working too well. When it came to such personal things as his family, he just didn't seem to be able to compartmentalize himself. "I... But he believes strongly in it. So much that he stayed away from us all these years. I can't trust someone that I know nothing about, especially if he also has the motivation to want to hurt me or my father as revenge." Glancing over to Gem for a moment before turning back to her. "He gave us information about exiting the saltbeds but there are so many Rider outposts on the way. It's a big risk, but the captains are so desperate for direction that I think they might take it."

"Well yes, but judgement is a call one must make for themselves." Giving hte little creature a grin before a small shake of her head. "Some women are meant to be mothers and wives...and some aren't. I'm never going to be submissive and disciplined enough to be either. Or at least that's my current opinion."
She blinked at Shyrae and watched her for a long moment, trying to work things through her head. After all, such more humanistic thoughts and feelings were a tad new to her. Thinking of those close to you in more primitive terms just wasn't the same. "Words." Nodding with that enthusiatic grin of hers. Yes that's what she would tell them. All these new words that she had learned. "Teach brothers."
"You believe strongly in it too, even if you don't say so. You blame yourself, your father blames himself, and this one places blame as well. It's only natural to want to point fingers. But staying away...doesn't that mean that he did it so he didn't hurt your father? And he honestly can't hurt you for it...you were hurt pretty badly as well." Though she tried to make such conversation brief for his benefit. "You think they'll risk it? Then we'll have to do our best to help them...even if it means perhaps being bait." A look back to the black. "Or maybe if you ask him for help...then he would."

"Wise words indeed. Each ability differs and it is up to the individual to recognize and utilize it to the best of their knowledge and aptitude." She didnt' quite understand Gem's latter ideas and frowned, "Human wives are submissive? That is not the way it is in the realm of the Goddess. We protect our men but we do not bow to them nor they to us. Mates are chosen out of natural selection."
Smiling at that, Shyrae nodded. It was rather cute that Sky wanted to teach her brothers what she was learning and she hoped that one day her wish would come true. Perhaps they should look into freeing more of the Rider dragons? Or maybe that could be something she could do if she stayed on Ilindal... "Anything else you want to learn, Sky?"

She really did know him well and he knew he didn't have to say it to agree with her. That was one of the good things of having grown up with her. "He never hurt my father but that doesn't mean that he doesn't still want to do it." And as long as that suspicion was still there, he just couldn't fully trust him. He could without a long lost uncle but not his father. It was true that he had gotten hurt too but he never thought of it as his punishment. "We are lacking in a direction and a goal but now we're been provided with one, it would be reasonable to try it." A shake of his head at her next words though. "No one will be bait. It will be particularly dangerous for Sky and us, but no one should have to be sacrificed for this mission. And I don't want to owe him anything that could be used as leverage later."

"Not all of them, but most men expect them to be. That's just how it works in this world, little Laerethe. Men are physically bigger and the like than us women and that makes some if not most of them think they they are the rulers of the land so to speak. Women are homemakers and child bearers...that's all most men think." Shaking her head lightly. "I live by the sandsea for it's lack of laws and such thoughts...I wouldn't have it any other way."
She seemed soothed now, as if her thougths were fleeting and flowed easily from one thing to another. A shake of her head thought before she just hugged the elf...she liked this particular motion, there was something that was just so nice about it. Much like a clinging child, wings slacked slightly and tail flicking at pleasant pace. After all in the scope of her learning, she'd learned all the interesting things she had seen them do. "Clothes off for sleep? Like tack?"
"Remember how we talked about taking risks, Kaznec? We have a pirate hell bent on killing us at our back, and Riders on the rest of our sides. We have limited options and even more limited resources. I'm a strategist remember? From how I see it...we're in a position of absolute surrender, unless we take a risk and stick to it. Eventually we'll get closed in on if we don't make a move ourselves. Our enemies know we're here...but we still have the element of surprise if we don't roll over and bear our bellies. We make a move, we make it quick and we follow it through. Well Commander...that's my assessment of the situation...what's the course?" Okay so maybe there was room for a strategist...and it helped her forget her own troubles."

So she was learning new things once again. It seemed that Hunter was not the only closed-minded male around here and humans had highly superior beliefs when it came to the different genders. Interesting... "Then I support your decision to make your own decisions completely, Captain. You should never allow anyone to lord themselves over you unless you do not mind being relegated to the inferior position."
Hugging her back, she lightly patted her back between her wings and let her cling as she saw fit. Sky's question made a lot of sense and Shyrae frowned. Technically she could take the clothes off to sleep but she feared one of the pirates getting ideas and Sky still had the mind of an adolescent. She wasn't so much on a child's level anymore. "Do they really bother you, Sky? Did your tack bother you?"

A blink as she got back into a different mode it seemed and he listened intently, formulating ideas in his own mind. "Taking a risk means moving anywhere, and soon. Even if we don't venture northwest like he suggested, I agree that we are somewhat vulnerable if we stand still." Another blink as she addressed him as Commander, since she hadn't done that in a long time. Pretty much everything except Caden merely used his name now, or various variations of it. "I'm not at liberty to decide everything anymore. Come with me, we'll confer with the captain now." Thus leading her with him as he made his way over to Gem and Eilynne, watching for a break in their conversation before he spoke. "Captain, I need to speak with you about the information the black dragon gave me." A nod to them both.

And it was simple as that...personal issues and thoughts were set aside and it was on to business. She could go cry in a corner later when everyone was asleep and the like. But for now, she merely followed him over to Gem and Eilynne...the Commander and his Strategist.
"Well...if I ever change my mind I'll let you know. I'm happy with my 'relationships' of current. Makes life fulfilling and a little less stressful. ANd the only one who does any lording around here on this ship is me, and my men are respected enough to not mind...until they start doing stupid things that I have to yell at them for...like pay too much attention to unclothed dragons." Where had her first mate been for all of that? Probably off oasis exploring. "Men and their fascination with nudity." Shake of her head at that one before her eyes moved to the two dragons. "Fire, Ice, you have my ears so what do you have to say?"
Well she didn't get an answer to that one so she assumed that it was a keep them on deal. "Feel wrong." And then asking about the tack as well. "When little and tight. When tugging. Metal." Tack wasn't the most comfortable thing at all, especially when they were young and their scales were softer.

"Men are often funny creatures. They do adn say things based on what their instincts ask of them and then find themselves in trouble. Why do you think our kind's women are stronger and the protectors of the group?" Turnng her attention to Kaznec and Jae who walked over, Eilynne waited. This would save her from asking Kaznec separately what he was thinking. "Do speak, dragonlord. I'd like your impressions and thoughts."
Shyrae listened, frowning as she tried to match up what she was saying and figure things out. "I understand, Sky. But you'll never have to wear the tack again. You do, however, have to wear the clothes when you sleep. But you can always sleep back in your other form, too. Do you remember how to change?"
