Yes indeed we are in that sense, but not so much in others. Can you use your left hand (if right handed) or right hand (if left handed) as well? More people that you think can use both hands.

I used to be able to write with my left. However my parents made me stop since they thought it was weird.
Wow, my mom never stopped me from using my right hand even though I am left handed. I guess she wouldn't find it weird since she can do it too but the opposite since she is right handed.

Well I suppose I can try practicing with my left again. But at this point in my life, don't see a point anymore.

You don't really have to. I mean why does it matter so much? Just because I can use both hands doesn't mean you have to be able to also. Not everybody can and that is life. Although it does have its perks and can be helpful.

Well there might come a time I might lose my right hand. It's always good to have a contingency in place.

Well, if I were ever to lose my left hand I would probably be alright. I suppose that is a plus for me.

If I ever lost my hands and feet I wouldn't know what to do.

I wouldn't either... I wonder if anybody who has spent their entire life with arms, legs, hands, and feet would know what to do if they lost them...

Perhaps not. It would cause serious psychological trauma.

Indeed it would. I don't even want to think about life without them.

Which reminds me, someone had invented something amazing in Stanford. These guys were so moved by this kids story of being born with a arm they actually crafted an almost perfectly functioning robotic arm for him to use.

Amazing how far prosthetics have come.

Yeah, no kidding. It is awesome. I have seen on tv how people with prosthetic legs can rock climb, run races, play sports, etc. It is just plain awesome.

Good to know I'm covered for legs. But arms are still a ways off with fully functioning fingers.

Yeah, I know. I suppose those are harder to work with that legs....

We're still quite a few years away from such technology.

It kind of makes me feel bad for those who either never had arms to begin with or lost their arms for some reason.
