Keegan raised an eyebrow at Kasiya's response, and continued flipping through the old book he was holding. "Well, there probably were rich people living here," he replied. "But if you really think about it, rich people could probably have whatever they wanted in their mansions: libraries, indoor pools, laboratories..." He trailed off as he realized Kasiya was no longer listening to him, and the lantern at his feet flickered pathetically before winking out, leaving the redhead in near-total blackness. He sighed and put the book he'd been looking at down, following after Themis and Helios, both of whom seemed to think Kasiya's discovery was more interesting than their trainer's. None of the three got very far before all their noses wrinkled in disgust, as the stench that filled the air around them was almost unbearable.

"Ugh, what is that?" Keegan grumbled, covering his mouth as he was practically gagging, and he had to recall Themis into his PokeBall as the Manectric had turned and started to flee. Keegan arrived on the scene just as Kasiya was examining the nugget, and his green eyes went wide as a blob of what could only be described as disgusting sludge rose up out of the ground. "Uh, Kassie, I think it wants its nugget back," he said warily, covering his mouth and nose with his hand. Helios' crimson eyes were narrowed, though it was hard to tell if the Ninetales was angry or just plain disgusted.

"Well if a move works, stick with it," Miharu answered, trying to remember what types of Pokemon Brock used. She assumed that if Sam had been using Water Gun and Low Kick that he stuck to Rock-types, but that wasn't important now. "And, you won, and that's all that matters," she said, realizing it had been the same thing Nurse Joy had told her after she'd barely defeated Falkner. "Besides, if Bugsy had a problem with something he would have mentioned it right then and there." They stepped outside, and Miharu looked down at her own shoes. "No, not a drop on me," she replied.

Sam was right though, as it was a lot darker than Miharu expected it to be. "We should get ourselves some supper too," she added idly, giving Sam a curious look as she walked backwards. "Careful you don't trip," she cautioned.

Mike was surprised by the sudden gesture of closeness Mitsu presented to him. Would this have been weeks ago it would have been as natural as anything else. After all, they were close. Somewhat. The boy she grew to love had since been consumed, eradicated. What remained was something more terrifying, more hideous: a monster. However, he wasn't so far gone that this couldn't touch him on some level. Mike smiled as Mitsu wrapped her arms around him. The smell of lightly burned flesh wafting into his nostrils. It reminded him of something, but he couldn't quite place it. It had a particular sting to it. For a moment he was lost in recalling a memory he couldn't place. It faded quickly, like the embrace. He waved to his friend as she left atop his Pokemon.

He didn't really feel anything from the hug. Could it have been just the body heat? Was Mitsu always that soft? Did he even have nerve endings anymore? Had he smashed his head one too many times and dulled whatever sensations of pain he had left? The questions piled up, but he couldn't find the time or energy to think about them, for he had another visitor.

An ethereal hand reached out from the ground beneath him; from his own shadow. Its fingers were like talons as they raked the dirt to pull itself up. As the phantom rose, a pair of bright eyes flickered on, as well as a wide, equally lit smile which hung from both orbs like a hammock. Soon the figure stood before him, taller, thinner. It was sharp, like a knife. It held out a hand and examined its long, dagger like fingers, the smile growing slightly wider. Mike's heart began to

"Hello, kid." the phantom spoke. "It's become rather noisy in there," he pointed a sharp finger to the boy's head. Mike backed away as he felt a strange stabbing sensation in his mind. "so I decided to get some fresh air. I'd ask what you're cooking up, but as I'm sure everyone understands: I already know."

Mike only answered in silence.

The phantom smiled. "Of course, why would you tell me? You still maintain the falsity that we are two different people. You must have your secrets, at least you think. However, I'm loving the recent ferocity behind your words. I do think I'm beginning to rub off on you. I can even hear a difference in the rest of them. All except one. Janice killed herself. In fact, it was right after you told that story. It must have been one too many times. Hm-hm-hm-hm! Oh well, at least I get a little extra leg room."

The boy looked to the floor. He had felt a strange sensation when he told Mitsu the tale. It was like something was screaming inside his head. That must have been her.

"Poor Janice. But then again, we've got so much death in that noggin of ours that this is merely Wednesday for us. Or is it Thursday? It's like a leaving tenant, or someone getting out of the back seat of the car. It feels nice to be able to recline."

Janice was one of the first to speak with him after the incident. She was a little girl, no older than 9. Mike named her after a crayon drawing he found floating in the wreckage. It was of a happy family beside a square house and profoundly bright sun. It was the sort of thing he would expect to see on a refrigerator. He would hear her sobbing in his ear whenever he'd think of that day. Now she was dead. Gone.

"Wow. That's it?" asked the phantom. "Normally you're so saddened when one of us kicks the bucket, but not this one? Not even poor little Janice? Wow. Just...wow."

"You want a reaction?" Mike said finally. "Why don't you leave? Why don't you just die, Milo?" His words showed no anger, but merely stated a possibility, like a lecturer speaking rhetoric.

"Much better!" Milo said with a wide grin. "You're like an animal. Enough prodding and eventually I can get something out of you. You're like an animal in a lot of other ways too. I mean, I could practically taste the words you were thinking when you were talking to that blond. And the pink one? WOAH. I am shocked that you can think such things about your dear friends. The purple one not as much, which surprised me. What happened between you two? Did you notice how good she smelled? Especially when she hugged you."

The conversation was interrupted by Nitro appearing from the mouth of the volcano. He landed in front of the boy, unaware of the ghost before him.

"Nitro, go get Portabello."
"Charizard, go fetch the mushroom."

The Charizard didn't even get a chance to plant his second foot before he whirled around and dove back into the volcano to get his other companion.

"These crossing thoughts really get on my nerves." Milo said, holding his shadowy head.
"They're my favorite." Mike replied, turning away from the ghost.
"You're so tense!" Milo practically sang. "You could really use a massage." The phantom crept up to the boy and wrapped his knife-like fingers around the boy's shoulders. A wave of pain shot up Mike's body, leaving a tingling sensation in his face. He screamed, but only for a second. When the wave subsided, oddly enough, a rather pleased smile played on his face.

"You love it, don't you?" Milo asked, already knowing the answer of course. Mike remained silent, which only made the ghost's smile grow wider. The boy continued to ignore Milo until Nitro returned, carrying Portabello on his back.

How are you faring Master? the Breloom asked. Milo looked at the boy expectantly, his eyes and smile aglow with anticipation.

"About the same as always." said Mike. Milo balled his fists and practically shook in delight.

Miss Sasha left earlier. She seemed rather distressed, and I know you wished for me to look after her, but...

"He just couldn't stray from you." Milo added in a mocking tone.

"It's okay." Mike said, waving the Pokemon off. "She'll be fine. Right now, I wanted to talk to you about something. Well, we need to do something."

Something?

Carlos nodded as he listened to Maz's story of Mt. Moon's origins as well as Clefairy and the Moon Stone. It was a popular story, once that he had heard a few times in his studies of legend, but one that was widely believed widely not only as a children's story but as a scientific basis. "I'm not so sure that that story is true. Hard if not impossible to prove or debunk, do you really think Moon Stone's came from the moon and aren't simply called so for their place of origin? I mean Clefairy aren't the only pokemon effected by the Moon Stone, though I suppose that if it crashed here far back enough then pokemon's evolution around it can have branched out to other species." He said with a soft smile, looking around the cave as they walked. "Although the myth of space pokemon isn't exclusive to Kanto. The Hoenn region knows it's own story, a legendary pokemon that goes by the name of Deoxys." Looking down at his feet, Carlos saw a rather large rock with off features. Realizing it was a Geodude he carefully stepped over it and continued. "Deoxys is said to have started off as an alien virus, resting on a meteor that entered our atmosphere. Some beleive that as it flew along our atmosphere it came into contact with Pokemon DNA and mutated into the pokemon now known as Deoxys. Not quite the same as an already living breathing organism coming down to our planet, but it's an outlandish theory none the less. Myth or fact, who's to say?"

Kasiya whirled around to face the redhead, the Muk's stench still not really bothering her. "What? No way," she protested, holding up the shiny object for all to see. "Finders keepers," she added, taking yet another step back as the gooey Pokemon lurched forward, apparently not happy with the human girl's declaration. A large, sloppy fist rose out of the glop pile, covered by a shadowy aura. With a garbled grunt, the Muk punched forward, sending the shadowy fist - a Shadow Punch, in fact - speeding towards the girl that had taken his treasure away. Seto wasn't about to let Kasiya get attacked though, and with a loud yowl he jumped in the way, taking the Shadow Punch to the shoulder. However, it did nothing more than tickle a bit, and the feline growled sharply, his eyes glimmering eerily in the dark.

"Go get 'em, Seto!" Kasiya cheered, pumping her fist into the air. Seto replied with a flick of his tail and he growled again, the jewel on his forehead glowing with its own shadowy aura. He bared his teeth before lobbing the Shadow Ball at the Muk, watching with satisfaction as it smacked the Sludge Pokemon right between the eyes. The Muk gave a loud bellow before it took its gooey fist and punched forward, sending a blob of yuck flying at the Persian. As speedy as he was, Seto couldn't get out of the way and time and he hissed as the Sludge attack splattered across his right side. All at once a sickly feeling overcame him and he shuddered violently, a victim of poisoning.

Kasiya wasn't sure if the Persian had been poisoned yet, but having faced a Muk before (Master Koga's, in fact) she was aware of their ability to poison their foes so she knew she would have to end this semi-quickly. "Try your Power Gem now," she said, frowning as another violent convulsion shot through the feline. Seto quickly pulled himself together and yowled, the gem on his forehead glowing a brilliant red before a small beam, almost like a laser, shot forth, tearing into the Muk for a good amount of damage. Another angry bellow escaped the gloppy creature and it lumbered forward, swinging its slimy fists forward for a Pound attack.

Jake adjusted Turtwig on his shoulder as they continued to walk, both eying the mining machinery they passed by. Neither seemed to notice that Robin was simply guessing the direction they took, though it wouldn't have been the end of the world if they had gone in the complete opposite direction. The red-roofed building was a bit different than the one in Jubilife had been, and even more different than the one in Sandgem. Jake followed along behind the redheaded girl and her Totodile, looking around the main lobby as they stepped inside.

He wasn't surprised to hear Robin's cheerful greeting, and he hung back a bit until the nurse acknowledged him. He nodded and stepped forward, taking Bidoof's Pokeball out of his pocket. "Thanks," he said, handing the sphere to the nurse. "My Bidoof got a bit roughed up," he explained, shifting Turtwig's weight again. Turtwig chirped happily from his perch, glad he didn't need any healing at the moment. Both he and his trainer watched as the nurse took it and placed it in the machine with the others. "So," he said, turning back to Robin while they waited for the treatment to be finished. "Where's a good place to train in this town?"

Sam smiled. "Don't worry. Somehow, I trip less often walking backwards then I do walking forwards. Just a little quirk in the system." Sam felt her stomach rumble. "Dinner sure does sound good right now," Sam murmured, as she entered the Pokemon Center. She happily dropped off her Pokemon at the counter, then immediately proceeded to the cafeteria. "I don't know anything about Azalea," Sam said to Miharu, as she put food on her plate. "I heard about the incident a few years back with Team Rocket and all, but...Cianwood is so isolated, I really don't know anything about the world, aside from what my parents tell me. Speaking of which, I should call them. They're probably in Solaceon by now." Sam turned slightly to watch Miharu. "Have you ever been exploring, Miharu? Like, been to a different region, or been spelunking, or the like?"

Only Kasiya could take on a Muk without so much as flinching, Keegan thought, stepping back to avoid being hit by any stray sludge. Helios did the same, and the redhead exchanged glances with his Ninetales, both still amazed at her apparent obliviousness of the Sludge Pokemon's stench. But then again, only Kasiya would pick a fight with one in the first place. Keegan raised an eyebrow when Kasiya called for a Power Gem, as he'd never heard of that attack before. He was impressed by the laser-like attack the Persian had performed, but before he could see how the Muk reacted he felt Helios nudge his side, and he looked down at the fox expectantly. Helios remained quiet and turned his gaze toward at the ceiling, his eyes faintly reflecting the glow from Kasiya's flashlight. The redhead looked up too, now able to hear a faint howling coming from above him. "Hmm? What is that?" he asked quietly, quickly realizing the sound was getting louder, and was now accompanied by what sounded like claws skittering across a wooden floor.

Keegan took a few slow steps towards the sound, Helios now positioned in front of him in a sitting position. Each of his tails were swaying gently in the non-existent breeze and he stared straight ahead of him, as if expecting something. Keegan didn't doubt the Ninetales' new-found sixth sense, recalling quickly that strange Psychic-type attack, Extrasensory, that he'd used when he battled against Mai, and he too tried to prepare himself for what might be coming. There was a light thudding sound in the distance, followed by more scraping noises. It was definitely getting closer now, and Helios stood up as he was now able to hear growling as well. Keegan narrowed his eyes at the darkness, practically holding his breath as for a moment the only sounds that could be heard was the Persian and Muk battling behind him. The growling quickly changed into a sharp barking as suddenly a small, orange and black-striped canine sprinted into the light, skidding to a stop and snarling viciously at Keegan and Helios.

"A Growlithe," Keegan remarked as the fierce little puppy crouched down into an offensive stance, baring its teeth. If Keegan had to guess, he'd wager that the pup thought they were intruding on his territory. "Sorry, pooch, but you're late to the party," he told it. "We've been here for a while now." The Growlithe didn't seem to like that and without warning, lunged at Helios, sinking its teeth into the Ninetales' front leg. Feisty little thing, the redhead thought, noting that the pup was female. He glanced back over his shoulder at Kasiya as Helios shook the Growlithe off him, and he smiled. He'd always been envious of Kasiya's Arcanine, and as he looked back at the energetic pup, he made up his mind. "We're gonna catch it," he told Helios, though the Ninetales wasn't at all surprised by his trainer's choice. He knew Keegan had always loved Fire-types, and since he'd given that young Ponyta away, he was the only one on Keegan's roster. The Ninetales sprang into action, darting forward with a Quick Attack. The sudden strike caught the pup off guard and she was knocked to the ground, but she recovered quickly and got to her feet, growling louder than ever.

Miharu giggled a bit at Sam's reply, and they both entered the Pokemon Center. Miharu's Pokemon weren't in need of healing so she headed straight for the cafeteria, slowing her pace enough for Sam to catch up one she'd dropped off her Pokemon for treatment. They were a bit late coming to dinner, so there wasn't much of a wait. Miharu grabbed a tray and began loading it with food, some for her, but most for her Pokemon. "I've never left the Johto region," she admitted, but quickly corrected herself. "Well, that's not entirely true. I've visited my aunt and uncle in Hoenn a few times." She took a few napkins and a bottle of root beer. "I've been to a lot of places here in Johto though," she went on, addressing Sam's first statement. "Azalea has a well located just west of town. It's home to many Slowpoke, and aptly named Slowpoke Well," she said with a light giggle. "And if you go past there, you come to Union Cave, which is the quickest way to get back to Violet City from here. Unless, of course, you fly right there," she went on, taking her tray of food and heading over to a table. She set it down and released all her Pokemon one by one, watching with a smile as they all took in Sparkle's new form. The fully-evolved Ampharos was now one of the largest of all of Miharu's Pokemon, but that didn't seem to bother her. Sparkle had retained her jolly nature with her evolution, and that made Miharu quite happy.

Nurse Joy happily took all three pokemon that she had been given and smiled at them before getting to her work. Smiling back before turning around and back to Jaeshan she listened to his question with interest. "Um, well... uh..." Robin didn't really know... her face was a little scrunched up in concentration as she thought. "Ah we can go to the mines! Oh wait... you don't like mines... umm, we can go back to the cave? No wait caves are no go to... Uh..." Ok she really didn't know what to do. Granted if her IQ was around five points higher she might be able to think of something. "We can go find Geodudes or battle Hikers or something?" Robin finally suggested. Ok that was kinda lame but she wasn't smart enough to think of anything else!

Behind the counter Nurse Joy was taking a look at Black*Star as the other two pokemon healed up. The Totodile had seen a fierce battle recently, that much the nurse could easily see. Still the Johto starter was doing a remarkable job of healing. It must be because that girl was taking such good care of him, still he should be in any battles coming up soon. Maybe putting him on a bit of a work out though wouldn't be such a bad idea, as long as he didn't stress himself to much. With the ding of the healing machine Nurse Joy finished up her examination and placing the pokeballs, and Black*Star on a tray she placed them on the counter. "Your Pokemon are all healed up!" The nurse cheerfully announced saving Robin from feeling even more dumb.

"Great! How's Black*Star doing?" Robin asked doing her best to forget that her stupidity was blocking her once again.

"Your Totodile is recovering very nicely. You might want to start putting him on a small work out. I wouldn't recommend battling though. Something light though like practicing his attacks or running around."

Picking up Ace's pokeball and her Totodile Robin grinned at Black*Star before smiling at Nurse Joy and thanking her. "Thanks a bunch Nurse Joy!" Turning back to Jaeshan Robin wondered what he was going to do. She wasn't really much help now that she thought of it. Oh man Jaeshan would probably be better training with himself then her. No! No she wasn't going to go down that path again, she wasn't going to get upset on something that wasn't her fault!

At first, Kasiya was far too preoccupied with her own battle to notice that Keegan and Helios had found an encounter of their own, though soon she heard the Growlithe's angry snarls and she glanced over. Sure enough, an angry little Growlithe had attacked Helios, and she wondered idly if Keegan would try to catch it, as she knew he was slightly envious of Hiro. Seto growled sharply as the gooey fist landed a solid Pound into his side, and he reeled a little from the poison as it continued to attack his body from within. "Don't give up, Seto!" she called, certain now that her Persian had been poisoned. "Take a chunk outta him with your Slash attack!"

The feline yowled and hissed angrily as he jumped at the Sludge Pokemon, slashing forwards with his sharp claws. The Muk gurgled and grunted in reply, and neither Kasiya nor Seto were sure if they'd even managed to hurt it yet. Well, Shadow Ball seemed to work just fine, Kasiya thought as Seto dodged a disgusting ball of muck that had been lobbed lazily in his direction. "Seto, try another Shadow Ball," she said, gritting her teeth a little. That Muk was quite tough, and Kasiya smiled a bit, reaching into her hip bag. The Persian's forehead gem shimmered with a ghostly aura before another inky, shadowy orb was fired at his opponent. This one caught the Muk in the center of where his chest would be if he had one, and it staggered (or sloshed, rather) back a few feet, its eyes clenched shut in pain.

"Nice job, Seto!" Kasiya cheered, watching the mucky Pokemon carefully. It seemed a bit weaker, but still had plenty of fight left in it. It sent another Sludge attack sailing towards the Persian, gurgling excitedly as this one scored a hit too, and the feline had to stop and catch his breath as the poison was really starting to take its toll. "You can do it! Give him a taste of your Thunderbolt!" the blonde trainer called. Electricity began to spark from Seto's red forehead jewel, and with a sharp hiss he launched a powerful bolt forward. It blanketed the Muk, crackling loudly as the current passed through it, and the Sludge Pokemon gave a pained groan, slumping back a bit. A few stray bolts of static still clung to it in places, and it seemed to be moving a lot slower now.

Jake shrugged, not entirely sure of what he wanted to do. No, he really didn't want to go into the mines, but if there were more strong Rock-type Pokemon down there to practice against, it seemed like the best option. Then again, they could always go off and do a bit of training on their own. Jake was sure Bidoof would love another shot at Turtwig after he so handily defeated her before. The thanked the nurse as she handed him back Bidoof's Pokeball and he tucked it into his pocket, not really paying any attention to the conversation about Black*Star's status until Robin looked back at him again.

"What about you?" he asked, remembering then why she'd come back to Oreburgh. "Aren't you supposed to be going to find that royal rock or whatever it was?" While he was enjoying spending time with Robin, he didn't want to hold her back from the things she needed to get done. "I was thinking of just hanging around here and doing some training, maybe try to think of a strategy or two before heading to the gym."

Again, without warning, the Puppy Pokemon launched herself forward, her body becoming wreathed in flames as she threw herself into Helios' chest for a fiery tackle - Flame Wheel. Of course, Helios' Flash Fire ability prevented any actual damage from being done to him, and he felt his own power grow significantly as he absorbed the Growlithe's flames. Helios took a single step forward and pivoted, swinging his tails in a sweeping motion and catching the little pup right in the face. It wasn't exactly damaging but it sent the Growlithe skidding across the ground once again, forcing her to get back to her feet. By the time she'd recovered, Helios had already chased her down with a Quick Attack, and the poor pup was sent to her belly once more, whimpering slightly. The Growlithe was smart enough to realize that her opponent was significantly stronger than she was, though she had no clue that the redheaded human was planning on trying to capture her.

"You've almost got her, Helios," Keegan said, wrinkling his nose a bit as he could still smell the Muk's stench from nearby, and he prayed that Kasiya would defeat it or chase it off soon. "Give it a Flamethrower," he then suggested, not wanting to do too much damage to the pup. The Ninetales reared back and loosed a stream of fire, supercharged from his Flash Fire ability, though surprisingly the Growlithe did not try to dodge the attack. Instead she appeared to actually enjoy the flames as they washed over her, and Keegan tilted his head. I see, so this particular Growlithe has Flash Fire. With her attitude, I would have guessed Intimidate for sure. "Helios, new plan," he said quickly. "Confuse ray!"

The Ninetales had admittedly looked a bit abashed that this canine possessed the same ability he did, but the fox quickly shrugged it off. His crimson eyes narrowed into slits, and his nine tails danced hypnotically around him, each moving with a mind of their own. A peculiar beam of multi-coloured light zigzagged towards the Growlithe, striking her right between the eyes, and she gave a pitiful whimper as her vision grew blurry, and her steps became staggered and clumsy.

I think it's paralyzed, Kasiya thought, looking towards Keegan's battle as flames lit up the area around it. Here's hoping Seto can hang on long enough to weaken it a bit more. The paralyzed Muk tried to fling another handful of sludge at Seto, and weakly the Persian darted off to the side. He was really feeling woozy now and he wanted nothing more than to lie down and rest. He wouldn't have even been all that upset if Kasiya chose to recall him, but he didn't think that was going to happen. His ears flattened against his head once more and he growled, though even that sounded weaker than it should. The Muk tried to lumber forward, its slime-covered fist raised for what would have been another Pound attack, but at that moment the paralysis took a hold of it and it froze up, unable to do anything but sit there like the smelly pile of goo it was.

Kasiya knew that Seto wouldn't last much longer, so they would have to capitalize on the moment. "Hit it hard with another Thunderbolt!" the girl cried. "We've got him!" Seto nodded in agreement, and built up another charge of electricity which was then focused into a concentrated bolt through his forehead gem, and he slumped weakly, not even looking up to see what his attack had done. The poor Muk actually shrieked when the bolt struck him this time, and he sank to the floor in a wobbly, purple-black puddle. Seto, ears and whiskers drooping, padded back to Kasiya's side, eager for a good rest.

"Here we go," Kasiya whispered excitedly, holding up a red and blue sphere. She took careful aim at the Muk puddle on the ground, and let the Great Ball fly, holding back a gleeful giggle as the Sludge Pokemon was pulled inside of it. It clattered to the ground, the light in the center blinking rapidly as the ball shook back and forth. Try as it may, however, it was just too weak to fight off capture and with a chiming sound the Great Ball sealed tightly shut. Kasiya let out a cheer and jumped up and down a few times before running over to collect her newest Pokemon. The stench had diminished quite a lot when the Muk had been captured, but Kasiya didn't really notice it. She knelt down beside Seto once the Great Ball was securely in her pocket (with the Muk's prized nugget, of course), and gently patted his head. "You were amazing, as usual," she told him. "Take a good rest, and I'll get you to the Pokemon Center as soon as I can." The Persian sighed gratefully as he was returned to his Pokeball, and Kasiya stood up, eager to see how well Keegan was doing.

"We need to work on our mind-link." Mike said, lightly rubbing his head with his pointer finger.

"Right, so we can gossip." Milo interjected.

Of course Master. Portabello said in reply. He had the briefest pause in his response which gave away his thoughts immediately. Not that it was any secret. Mike knew that since his breakdown, his thoughts had become rather rampant, to say the least.

"I know it bothers you to hear so much at once, but it's a tactical advantage I really need right now." Mike chuckled slightly and closed his eyes. Milo's fingers slowly wrapped around the boy's head. "But you have to trust me when I say it hurts me, too." Milo hummed a soft laugh.

Portabello stiffened his posture and held his head up high. Master, for too long have I sat idly by as you suffered. I was a fool to even consider my own welfare above your own. I would be more than happy to help you in any way I can. His voice carried more weight and discipline than normal, and that was saying a lot coming from this samurai of a Pokemon. Whatever pain I may endure, however small or great, is less you have to deal with alone.

"I am somewhat amazed at how you can inspire that loyalty in people." Milo said, tilting his head to the side. His eyes fluctuated in size as he focused on the Breloom before him. "You are ever the puppet master."

Mike nodded at his Pokemon's undying loyalty. "You set an example in honor I couldn't match in a thousand lifetimes, P.B. I couldn't ask for a more loyal companion."

Nitro snorted indignantly. His tail swished from side to side in frustration.

Mike threw his Charizard a pleading look. "Relax."

"Yeah, don't look at me." Milo said. "I hate all of you equally. Well, except for the mushroom. I hate him the most."

I am eternally grateful for your words of kindness, however unworthy I am of them.

"Because of s**t like that." Milo sighed.

Sam watched all of Miharu's Pokemon interact with Sparkle. Sparkle sure seemed happy. Sam wouldn't mind having an Ampharos. She liked them, they were so cute and they were decent fighters. Perfect combination. Sam thought about her own Pokemon, wondering if she should catch another one. She had only had Devlin for a little while, but he was already so strong, and he seemed fairly comfortable with the team now. Sure, he still had his moments, but Sam was confident he wouldn't need constant attention now. She could now expand her team. The question was with what. She watched the Ampharos carefully. Yes, an Electric-Type would do nicely, especially if she was going against Falkner next. Then again, should she head to Violet City, or maybe go to another region? Sam sat back in her chair, picking at her food. Sam didn't fully register what Miharu had said to her, her brain going blank.

"You haven't really left Johto?" Sam said faintly, half her mind concentrating on the conversation, the other half realizing how exhausted she was. "You should go visit Hoenn...Or Kanto...Or Sinnoh. It would be pretty fun, n'est-ce pas? Then again, how would we get there? Or would it even be we? I would love to keep travelling with you, but I understand if you want to do your own thing. Different paths, neh?" Sam smiled apologetically. "Sorry, I'm tired. Babbling a bit. Do I even make sense right now?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. She watched her food tray for awhile, before finally reaching for her soda loaded with caffeine. It wasn't going to help her in short-term, and it probably would hurt her in the long-term, but this didn't compute in Sam's mind. 'Caffeine equals awake,' was her basic thought as her brain switched onto auto-pilot.

Keegan felt a little bad for the Growlithe as she staggered around, bumping into various objects around her, but the redhead didn't want to cause her unnecessary hurt. The Puppy Pokemon snarled and jumped quite suddenly at Helios, her teeth flashing in the light from Kasiya's flashlight. The Ninetales let out an annoyed sound as the Growlithe's teeth found their way into his leg a second time and he batted at her with his free paw until she let go. Keegan smirked, knowing that if he really wanted to capture the pup, he should switch to Themis or Loki and let them paralyze her. That, and Helios didn't have many attacks that would be very effective against a Fire-type. "Tail Whip again," Keegan said, unable to keep the grin from his face as Helios shot him a glare that clearly read 'Are you serious?'

However, the Ninetales was far too fond of Keegan to disregard his orders, even if they were ridiculous, and he pivoted quickly, buffeting the smaller Pokemon several times over with each of his nine tails. The Growlithe, definitely feeling more tired than hurt, rolled back onto her four feet once again, still trying to shake the cobwebs from her head. She had a clear view of the fox Pokemon so she charged, throwing all her weight into a Take Down attack. Helios couldn't hold back a pained yelp as he took the solid impact to his chest, though it came at the cost of damaging the Growlithe in return. She fell to her belly once again, panting heavily.

"Enough of that," Keegan grumbled, taking a Great Ball of his own out of his jacket pocket. With one click it was enlarged to its full size, and at that point Keegan didn't even know that Kasiya was watching him. He threw the blue and red sphere with good aim towards the pup, who was now staring at him wide-eyed as she realized her fate. She yelped as the Great Ball struck her square on the shoulder, snapping open and engulfing her with a gleaming red light before she disappeared inside, and both Keegan and Helios watched with firm glares as the ball hit the ground, rocking on the spot. A few tense seconds passed before it was still, and Keegan let out a sigh of relief before going to claim it. Helios dutifully trotted back over to his trainer's side, eying the Great Ball with disdain. He hadn't been the biggest fan of that little pup, but he figured she'd make a good addition to their team.

It was about that time that Keegan realized the stench was gone from the air, and he walked over to Kasiya, grinning as he held out the Great Ball for her to see. "I caught a Growlithe," he told her proudly, and as if she hadn't just witnessed it. He sniffed a few times and looked around as he pocketed the ball. "Where'd the Muk go?" he asked, wondering where the slimy thing could have gone.

It always amused Jasper to watch the reactions of the people he passed by. Pikachu was a rather popular Pokemon and a lot of people stopped to comment or pet the one perched on Jasper's shoulder, never suspecting that it was a fake. Ditto had captured not only the mouse's looks, but its mannerisms as well, and sometimes even Jasper could easily forget that his companion was actually an amorphic, blue blob. The pair made their way north of Goldenrod, as it was nearly midnight, and they didn't exactly have anywhere to go within the city itself. Jasper hadn't a real home to go back to since before he turned fifteen, but that was just fine with him. His last foster family had never went out of their way to make him feel like he belonged there, and his foster father, well. Jasper didn't like to think of him. The youth pushed the distressing thoughts of his past out of his mind and instead focused on his destination, which was the gatehouse that connected to Goldenrod's National Park. It was Sunday evening, which meant that Ross would probably be on night duty, and if that were the case, chances were good that he'd let Jasper and Ditto crash there for the night.

The boy and his blob-chu carefully cracked the unlocked doors open a few inches, as the National Park was open all hours, and peeked inside. Sure enough, their old buddy Ross was there, leaning back in his chair, feet up on the desk and deeply engrossed in what Jasper assumed was a naughty magazine. He was probably in his late thirties, a bit of salt and pepper grey decorating the auburn hair visible at his temples. He had a good balance of laugh and worry lines starting to crease his face, and his brown eyes were usually warm with kindness and understanding. Jasper smirked, as he found the man's habit somewhat amusing, and they often joked about him being interested in just the articles. Jasper let his guard down a bit and pushed the door open as wide as it would go, and pointed at Ross. "You're a dirty, filthy old man, Ross," he announced in a deep accusatory tone, causing the older man to jump a bit. Ditto laughed loudly from its spot on Jasper's shoulder, a few stray sparks flaring from its cheeks

Ross had jumped up in surprise, nearly falling out of his chair as he rushed to hide his magazine. When he realized that it was Jasper he chuckled sheepishly and placed it face-down on the desk, as this wasn't the first time Jasper had barged in like that. "Well if it isn't my favourite juvenile delinquent and his faithful accomplice," the guard retorted sharply, though he too was grinning broadly. He relaxed a bit and put both feet back up on the desk, crossing his ankles as he studied the pair.

"Juvenile?" Jasper scoffed, dismissing the thought with a wave of his hand, but his emerald eyes twinkled with mirth. "Puh-lease. Some of the cons we've pulled could have me tried as adult. If we were to get caught, of course." Ditto giggled in agreement and shifted back to its normal form, mirroring its trainer's semi-serious expression.

Ross sighed shook his head. "Yeah, and that's what worries me about you," he grumbled, glaring at the Bennett boy from beneath the rim of his cap, but his gaze quickly softened a bit, and he leered at Jasper. "Besides, you wouldn't do well in prison, boy. You're too pretty."

Oh! That was right! She was supposed to be getting her, um, shoot! Royal Rock? That sounded about right! "Ah yeah! I do need to do that!" Before I forget again! she didn't say that part out loud though. "Um, how about you find a place to train while I go pick it up? Maybe you can find a miner or someone else to battle?" Grinning at Jaeshan, Robin debated it for a second as she shifted Black*Star in her arms. Deciding that thinking was overrated for a moment she grinned leaned up and gave him a quick peck on the lips before running out of the pokemon center with a friendly wave.

"Haha! Can't believe it huh Black*Star?" Robin giggled as she slowed to a walk and held the Totodile out in front of her. Black*Star himself just gave her a grin, he didn't really care if she got in a relationship with someone else, as long as he got most of the attention. "Haha! Your so funny Black*Star!" Robin laughed as they wondered in some random direction. She really didn't know where the pokemart was, even if she had been there before. "You heard what Nurse Joy said right? You can start training again! No battling but we can practice your attacks at least."

As the two wondered around, not really paying attention to where they were going they managed to pass a bunch of miners, Roark who did a double take to make sure that yes that was the crazy girl from the other day, and a group of Machops trying to push a bunch of boulders up a hill. It was all pretty interesting, though Robin and Black*Star didn't really see any of it. Eventually through there random wondering through the town though they did make it to the pokemart. How they managed to make it is a miracle though, that or Robin is just pretty lucky like that. Now all they had to do was find that Royal Rock! Little did they know it would be a lot harder then what they thought it would be.
