Umi Pryde KitaAmaya That sounds amazingly fun (and hectic) actually. But y'know, after eating a nice meal and having a good laugh here and there, it's all worth it right? I was always curious though, why is Black Tuesday more somber than Black Friday? o.o what is black tuesday? According to Wikipedia, Black Tuesday is the day when the stock markets plummeted in 1929, signaling the Great Depression in America.

Ah, I understand your confusion now. KitaAmaya, Black Tuesday and Black Friday are called Black for totally different reasons. Black Friday is when all the businesses are supposed to get "in the black" or make profit for the entire year from all the sales going on that day. Black Friday is a good day for customers because of all the sales, and a good day for businesses as they are the ones making money. Black Tuesday would be more somber. Black Tuesday was a bad day all around, as the stock markets crashed.
All you have to do to learn is to ask. Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.

Owl Post
So sorry to have been absent for so long. I'm catching up the House Points, and also wish to welcome our latest Ravenclaws:
Elia92 (11/24/08 ) justamoose (12/02/08 O-copacetic-O (11/30/08 )
My computer went wonky, and I'm typing on a borrowed Macbook without my preferences. Two weeks ago, my beloved feline companion of nearly 20 years, Topaz, passed on peacefully. The good news is that yesterday, Bodhi and I welcomed a little blue tabby female, about 10 weeks old, to our household. She's even now is semi-asleep in my lap (she's purring). Names in the running so far are Miss Glory Hallelujah Hermione Grace, Esme, Hyacinth, Tigger Troubleshooter and Juniper. We'll see. Pictures soon! Love, LHH

LLH! It is so good to see you!
I'm sorry about the passing of Topaz. I recently had my beautiful Black and White cat, Felix (who was a girl....^_^ My brother named her and obviously didn't know she was a female.) passed away too. My mother offered for me to get a kitten though, and I am so excited. The ones I looked at were a few months old, I think, the one I fell in love with was a little very lightly colored calico! She is so beautiful.
I LOVE the names, and I cannot wait to see the pictures. If I ever get my little calico kitten, I will show her off to you guys! ^_^

Haha, we should have 1st year buddies. biggrin
I love cats, and I'm sorry to hear about Felix and Topaz. I just really like the way how cats are so fuzzy, yet not so...boisterous as dogs...It's always sad to have a pet die though, but I'm glad that you were able to get a new kitty! (Can we vote for names for your new cat LLH? 'Cause I like Tigger Troubleshooter and Juniper. Both are adorable names!)

That would be a great idea to vote on names, not that we wouldn't want to choose it for you of course. I like Esme myself. I'm so jealous, I wish I could have a cat, I love cats, and yes not so boisterous as dogs, alas, I'm allergic. Kittens are the cutest as well, my friend mom's cat died also around 2 weeks ago. Oh yeah! Black Friday and Black Tuesday are confusing if you don't know what the differences between them two. I am glad that we are teaching non-native speakers things in our little group!
Tomorrow is my last day of the semester, then finals! Thankfully two of them are online, one of them is a take home final exam and its due on thursday the 11th from 7am-9am! Pretty simple stuff, I have a ch. 12 exam due tomorrow, so I better start crackin'!

I know how you feel, I've got my finals on my last day of classes next week then I have to give 2 memorized monologues for acting and turn my stage dialects folder and reseach paper in on the 17th. I'll be out of town starting the 18th of Dec. should be back by that sunday. Other than that, I don't know what my break plans will be. I suspect my friend Arana will come down and join me a weekend, and Matelia is of course invited to come over anytime she feels like it provided I'm awake and home.lol.
Oh, thought I'd ask, do any of you have any favorite HP movie characters/moments or book quotes you would like to see as icons? I make them and want to start with HP icons and I would like some input since I will end up sharing them with the guild anyways.

Not any at the moment. I think I'll go look some up! Teehee...(My Harry Potter memory is starting to gradually fail into nothingness...) I wish you the best of luck on your tests today/already done, Para! I liked Esme, too, but it just really reminded me of Twilight for a second.

Yeah Esme is of Twilight, so I'm writing the theme for this month's story, is it too late to turn in? I just want somebody to go over it for spelling and grammar mistakes. I don't know how good it is either, to me it sounds horrible, after more than a year of writers block, anything sounds horrible. I met D.J. Machale at a barnes and nobles signing on friday (author of Pendragon series) it was pretty awesome, makes my dream of being a writer even more plausible.

I'm not much of a writer, I guess, which totally sucks for me because writing's fun! It's just not my thing, heh. I think the deadline's Dec. 11? I might be incorrect, but anyway, go for it! I KNOW for a fact that you'll win.

I can't play one to save my life, I sing alright but not amazing. I guess we all have our own talents. Which is good, or else life would be boring. Imagine a world without harry potter? That would be odd... eek I wonder where I would be?

You've got until midnight on Dec. 13th to submit a story for the Remus prompt. Go for it, Paraphernalia! I'm sure that your story is fine, but if you want someone to look over the story and give you some editing suggestions, feel free to send it to me. They need more stories, right now there is only four, and there is a greater chance of Ravenclaw winning the points if there are more Ravenclaw stories.
Good to see you back LHH! I'm sorry to hear about Topaz, and your computer, but I'm glad that you have a little blue tabby to run around your house and pleasantly distract you. The names sound very cute, and I can't wait to see the pictures.
(I'd have to see the pictures before I can decide for my vote on a name. Right now Juniper is appealing to me, but the cute little kitty should look her name.) Gosh, how I wish I could have a cat. Stupid genetic allergies.
Is everyone keeping under control of their stress as we approach Christmas and all the other Winter Holidays? I'm curious, what do each of you celebrate?

I'm a Christmas person, and I just love the Christmas music--it never gets old! Buy yea, life's gotten pretty hectic, but you know what? There's a week break to enjoy and family and friends. That sounded really cliche... sweatdrop But it's only cliche because people hear it often, therefore it is a general truth.
