hello all! Shimmey is new to this guild so i thought id go on the forums and meet some new people!
i play flute(5 years) and piccolo(2 years).i was section leader in middle school but now that im a freshman i got demoted....some senior is section leader and next year the new seniors(who are currently juniors) are really good.but i have a chance in my junior year......

Yay flutes! I play flute in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and MB. Although next MB season I think I'm going to have to play picc. since I'll be second in command (our MB order is in a seniority/dedicated order).
How do you get 2 piccolos in tune?
You shoot one! XD

My flute broke before winter break so i dont get to practice for two weeks. =[ I feel sad without Tooty

What do you guys think the best thing about the flute is? Well, I know EVERYTHING about the flute is the best, but what in particular?
I think I like the whole vibrato-ness is the best. heart

I like the flute, that's why I play it, it makes a nice bat, and an annoyance to my brother. It sounds nice too, but that was a given.

I play the flute and piccolo.
And I start Symphonic Band tomorrow at school.
I haven't played since like May of last year.

XD how do you get 2 piccolos in tune? you shoot both of them. xd that's pritty cool. i got kicked out of the flute section because we needed trombones for marching band, and i happen to play trombone. sweatdrop i still play my flute outside of band. we have a song in Jazz band that originaly had flute playing melody,(moondance) but the director got the only arangement on the sight that dident have a flute part. crying

Do you know what's fun? Take the head joint off your flute, hold it like a clarinet, and blow like a trumpet. It sounds so funny. I've even managed to get Hot Cross Buns in tune. You all should try it razz

You all should try it razz At the summer camp I go to, we have this one class called "Perspectives in Music" and every year it has something to do with music and computers, and this year we were creating our own sound effects to a movie (Harry Potter 3) and everyone gets put into a group, and every year the grouping is done differently. Well, this past summer, all of the flutes were in a group by ourselves, and while we were experimenting with making weird sounds on our flutes, we did that. It was so funny. We went and showed the oboes, because we thought it sounded like a bad oboe. It was so great, we had so much fun and never did anything at all.

why does it seem that all the flutes are either really mean or really cool and nice to everyone. In my band we have mostly nice people but one of the girls is really mean. I've played the flute for three years so I'm still a beginner but I love playing the flute
