Train nodded in agreement with Carlos, though when she looked back at Maz he was apparently already waiting in the entrance for them, so she began walking over to it, glancing back at Carlos to make sure he was following them. ”Hey,” She said to Maz as she approached him. ”You never answered my question.” Though, by the time she had finished her sentence he was already off on some rant about how Mount Moon was created, and though it sounded kind of cool, she wished that he’d stop ignoring her when she talked.
She paused and blinked when Maz mentioned that he’d never actually been through Mount Moon before, and she stared at him. How had he planned to protect them if he’d never been through here, either? Well, then again, at the time she supposed he’d assumed that neither her nor Carlos had been through the huge tunnel either. ”Yeah,” She said with a small sigh. ”I’ve been through here a couple of times, so I sort of kind of maybe remember a little bit of the way.” She shivered a bit, not because she was cold, but because she was still creeped out by the place. She had to admit that being there with a couple of people rather than just her Pikachu was a lot better, but the place was still damn creepy and, without even realising that she was doing it until she’d bumped into one of them by accident, she drifted closer and closer to the two boys, while also trying not to really look around the place but instead keeping her focus mainly directly in front of her, and where they were probably supposed to be going next to get out of there as quickly as possible.

It was a typical, not-so-quiet evening in Goldenrod City. The nightlife was as lively as ever, with the steady throng of traffic flowing smoothly yet slowly, and there was a surprising number of people on the street at this time of night. The city itself twinkled brighter than any starry section of sky thanks to its thousands of multi-coloured lights, but no place in town stood out more than the Goldenrod City Game Corner. Its neon signs drew in crowds like moths to a flame; flocks of gamblers all looking to make a quick fortune should luck be on their side. One such young man, having overestimated his own ability to deceive security, was currently being escorted from the premises, a husky chaperone on either side of him. Behind that trio was the Game Corner's floor manager, wearing a rather perturbed expression. One arm was held taut against his chest, the other carried a plain denim jacket which had faded slightly in places. The entourage reached the rear exit of the establishment, and the security guards grabbed the youth by his arms and promptly tossed him out the door, both scowling as they turned and headed back inside.
Wincing, the teen pulled himself up into a sitting position, though he was definitely more amused by the situation than angered. "C'mon, you guys are overreacting," he said, holding his hands out defensively.
The floor manger's expression turned sour, and he glowered at the boy. "The staff of this Game Corner do not overreact when it comes to cheaters, Mr Bennett," he replied curtly, his tone indicative of the fact that this was not the first incident of this type involving this young man.
"Cheating?" the young Mr Bennett replied, his emerald green eyes wide with bewilderment, though they held a glimmer of amusement. "I wasn't cheating, I'm just lucky."
"You've won every hand of poker you played since you arrived here three hours ago. No one is that lucky, Mr Bennett."
The youth just smirked, and shrugged. In actuality, he was that lucky, but luck had nothing to do with his performance tonight. He also knew the game was over, at least for today, so he figured he might as well try to walk away with as much of his dignity in tact as possible. "What about my winnings?" he asked, now getting to his feet.
"I have confiscated your winnings," the manager replied quickly. "It would be wise for you to leave now, before I call the authorities. Also, you might want to keep your distance from this place for a while, as next time I will not be as lenient."
"All right, all right, I'm leaving," the Bennett lad said, turning on his heel and taking a few steps forward before he stopped, and looked back. "Can I at least have my jacket back, please?"
The manager glanced down at the denim jacket in his hands, hesitating for a moment or two before he tossed it to the boy, who nodded. "Thanks," he grinned, slinging it over his shoulder before continuing to walk. The man folded both arms over his chest this time and watched as the boy made his way down the alley, his footsteps echoing loudly behind him. 'That Jasper Bennett is nothing but trouble,' he thought, frowning at the boy's back. 'He's gonna land himself in jail if he's not careful.' He'd been about to turn around and head back inside when the jacket he'd returned winked at him from its place on Jasper's shoulder, and for a moment the man just stood there, mouth gaping open. Jackets didn't wink at people, did they? They didn't even have eyes! He blinked a few times and looked again, but by that point Jasper had turned a corner and was out of sight. The manager sighed and went back inside, certain the stress of his occupation was starting to get to him.

Keegan opened his eyes and blinked a few times, a little surprised to find that his fall hadn't caused any more major injuries. His aching ribs throbbed in angry protest as he sat up, and he silently wondered if they would ever get a chance to heal properly. He looked up as he heard Kasiya's voice calling his name, and he could make out three shapes peering down at him. "No, I'm still alive, thank you very much," he called back, now looking around for Shiva, as she'd fallen when the floor gave out as well. The Sealeo was sitting nearby, looking a bit shaken up, but unhurt. When she saw that Keegan was all right she gave a happy bark and nuzzled his hand with her nose. "Glad you're okay, girl," he said, wishing he'd thought to check the integrity of the floor before releasing her. Shiva barked again and Keegan recalled her into her PokeBall as he stood up, bits of broken floorboards cracking and bending under his weight.
He looked up at Kasiya again. "Stay back, the rest of the floor could collapse at any time," he warned. "I'm going to try to find a way back up to the main floor, so you guys be careful up there. Themis, behave yourself," he added, remembering that the Manectric was still up there. Themis rolled his eyes but gave a light yip in confirmation. Why would he misbehave when he genuinely liked the girl? The Electric-type eyed the Persian at her side before trotting over to investigate him. Keegan sighed and looked around, though there wasn't much to see as it was somewhat dark down here, but there was enough light coming in through the hole in the ceiling so that it wasn't pitch black. Shoulda stayed in bed, the redhead thought glumly as he ventured forward, wishing he had a flashlight. ===== For the first time since the battle's start, Bugsy looked worried, though the giant wave rising up did a good job of hiding it from his opponent. "You can handle this, Scyther!" the young Gym Leader shouted. "Use your Quick attack to break through the wave. The Mantis Pokemon let out a high-pitched screech and sped forward, using its wings to help give it a bit of a speed boost. Barely anything in the gym could be heard above the roaring of the Marshtomp's Surf, and the Scyther raised its weapons high as it charged directly into the oncoming wave, disappearing completely for a few seconds before it burst out of the other side, scythes still poised and ready to strike. It raced towards Star, eyes bloodshot with fury, and just when it looked ready to strike it stopped just short of the Marshtomp, seemingly frozen on the spot. A few droplets of water fell from its statuesque body and then the Mantis Pokemon toppled forward, having sustained too much damage to continue fighting.
Bugsy sighed, and crossed his arms over his chest. He hated losing, but at least this battle hadn't been entirely one-sided. "Okay, you win," he said finally, recalling his fainted Scyther back into its Net Ball. "I thought I had you, but I guess not." The boy hopped down from his platform, his boots splashing lightly in the water that was still soaking the ground, and he stopped in the center of the battlefield and beckoning for Sam and Star to come out and meet him. A fairly large Parasect had scuttled out from hiding, carrying a small box in its claws. "You've earned this," the boy said, handing the box to the victorious challenger. "My Hive Badge, some prize money, and my favourite TM, U-Turn. It allows for your Pokemon to strike quickly, then trade places with one of its teammates." He tried to stand up a little taller, and he placed his hands behind his back. "You may have defeated me, but I hope you understand just how tough and awesome Bug-type Pokemon are." ===== Miharu had stood up again when Bugsy's Scyther went dashing into the tidal wave of water, not at all sure of what the outcome would be. As much as she respected Bugsy, she didn't want Sam to lose, as it would make them both feel pretty bad, especially after all of the preparations they'd gone over. She let out her breath in a sharp rush once the Mantis Pokemon fell, and she realized she hadn't even noticed that she'd been holding her breath in the first place. What an incredible match, she thought, grinning broadly as Bugsy presented Sam with her winnings. I knew she could do it!

Jasper waited until he was a block or so away from the Game Corner before he stopped, and looked over his shoulder. No one had followed him from the casino; in fact he was virtually alone on the sidewalk, and he relaxed a little. "Well, you have to give them credit," he said with a short laugh. "They are getting smarter." He nudged the jacket hanging over his shoulder. "Coast is clear," he added, and as soon as it got the okay, the jacket began to shimmer and shift, and within moments a blue blob had molded itself to the boy's shoulder. It had no discernible features other than two beady little eyes and a thin mouth, which was currently upturned in a grin, and though it was a Pokemon, it looked more like a big wad of chewing gum.
"Good job back there, Buddy," Jasper said, poking the Ditto in the side before beginning to walk again. The Pokemon gave a high pitched giggle in reply and opened its mouth to nom on Jasper's hand. "I don't think they knew what we were up to, but I guess I got a little carried away back there. Forgot to lose a few, you know?" Ditto said nothing, quite content to drool on Jasper's arm for the time being instead. "Pretty clever of us, though," he went on, talking as though the blue blob of a Pokemon cared about what he was saying. "Disguising yourself as my jacket, and watching all the other guys' hands from the coatrack behind them was ingenious." Jasper laughed again at the memory. The hardest part of this nefarious scheme had been teaching Ditto to recognize the different winning hands of poker, and when to signal Jasper when they had a good hand. Two blinks for a really good hand, one for a decent hand, and no response for a crap hand. No one had paid any attention to the nondescript, faded denim jacket behind them, and they probably could have walked out of there with a truckload of coins had Jasper remembered to lose a few hands now and then. It was of little consequence though, as they didn't really need money at the moment, but Jasper knew they were running out of options here in Goldenrod.
"Might be time to move on," Jasper mumbled quietly as they made their way into a more populated area of the city, and he glanced over his shoulder at Ditto. "Better disguise yourself, Buddy. Remember, blue-coloured Ditto aren't exactly commonplace around here, or anywhere, for that matter." The Transform Pokemon gurgled in reply and closed its eyes, focusing. Its amorphous body gave off a light shimmer and soon it reshaped itself, grinning happily once it had assumed its favourite disguise, that of the far less rarer Pikachu.
Even though Ditto was a master of transformation, it had difficulty changing into other Pokemon unless one was sitting right in front of it, though it had transformed into Pikachu so many times before that it had little trouble duplicating the electric mouse, including its signature Thundershock attack and adorable little voice. "Pikapi!" the Ditto-chu cried, scrambling up onto Jasper's head, and the duo continued on their way, both feeling quite cheerful despite their failure at the casino earlier.

Kasiya sighed with relief when she heard Keegan answer her, and now she could see him moving around down there as well. Deciding that she didn't care to know what falling through the floor felt like at this time she heeded the redhead's warning and backed up, frowning as the floor made an ominous creaking all around her. The end of Seto's tail had started to twitch lightly when the Manectric neared him, ready to lash out with his sharp claws should Themis get too close. He was still a bit pumped up after defeating that Raticate and he wouldn't mind taking a shot at the blue and yellow canine in front of him. "Seto," Kasiya said, noting the low growl that had started to rumble in the Persian's throat, "you be nice. We have to figure out where the basement stairs are," she added, very sure that it would be harder to do than it sounded. This place was quite big and she was sure they hadn't even seen half of it yet.
She motioned for the two Pokemon to follow her as she left the little room, taking care to step lightly in case any other sections of the floor were weak and unstable. It started to get a little darker the further she went in, and luckily enough Kasiya did happen to have a flashlight in her hip-bag. She dug it out and turned it on, feeling a little less scared now that she had a light source. Of course, having Seto and Themis at her side helped a lot, too. She swept the beam of light around in wide arcs, smiling a bit as the light sent several Rattata scurrying for cover as she neared them, and she couldn't help but wonder if there were any other Pokemon in here besides Rattata and Raticate.
There was a light scraping noise from overhead and Kasiya quickly pointed the flashlight at it, gasping in surprise as a pair of glowing yellow eyes stared back at her through a small hole in the ceiling. "Oh, it's a Vulpix!" Kasiya cried shrilly after a moment or so of studying it, but her voice startled the little fox and it quickly darted out of sight. "How cute," the girl cooed, glad that there was more than just the Rat Pokemon inhabiting this place. "Maybe I can capture a Vulpix," she whispered excitedly, deciding to try and keep her voice down as her search for the elusive basement stairs continued.
=-=-=-=-= Turtwig chirped and nuzzled his head against Robin's hand as she reached up to pet him. He clambered down onto Jake's shoulder as the two of them looked around the new city. "...I guess it's all right," Jake commented, though he wouldn't exactly call the place 'cool.' It was a bit dingy, and definitely small compared to Jubilife, but Jake could clearly see how seriously the inhabitants of Oreburgh took their mining duties. "Well, where is the Pokemon Center?" he asked, still feeling a little down about the encounter with the Machamp earlier. "I'd like to get a bit more practice in before we go see this Roark fellow."

Keegan glanced at the dark ceiling as he heard squeaking and creaking from above him, and he wondered if it was coming from where Kasiya was walking. He figured that since she wasn't very big she'd be all right, so as long as she watched her step, which was something he didn't exactly have confidence in. As much as he adored that girl, she was a bit of a klutz, and he was certain he'd hear the sound of her falling any minute now. He continued moving forward, making sure his steps were small and quiet, as he had no idea what could be lurking down here. He passed through a door frame, noting that only the hinges and part of the door's base remained, taking him into an even darker room. He continued onward, squinting into the darkness until his foot bumped into something hard. It scraped loudly against the floor and Keegan jumped back a bit as the sudden silence was almost deafening. "This is stupid," he muttered after a moment or two, and he took Helios' PokeBall from his belt and released the Ninetales. He could vaguely make out the ghostly silhouette of the fox's creamy fur in the darkness, and he stepped closer to the Pokemon. "Helios, any way you can light this place up a little?" he asked uncertainly. Helios snorted and pawed the ground, a little offended by his trainer's tone of voice. Using his strange psychic power, he probed around with his mind to get a better look of the area and he stepped back, tails flicking about in the darkness before he breathed out a small and narrow stream of fire, illuminating the area around them.
Keegan squinted again as the sudden brightness hurt his eyes, but he did get a good look around them. "Heh, score," the redhead chuckled, spying an old lantern on the floor just as Helios' flames died down, and Keegan groped around in the sudden darkness until he found it. It was a bit rusted, but there was still some oil left inside, and Keegan held it out towards the Ninetales, who again channeled his flames carefully so that a few small sparks were enough to light it. It wouldn't last long, but Keegan only needed it to last until he found the stairs leading out of here. He also decided to leave the Ninetales out of his PokeBall for now, even though he hadn't seen any Pokemon down here as of yet.
There wasn't a whole lot of anything down in the basement of the mansion, not unless you counted dust and cobwebs. There were piles of broken furniture, smashed bottles and other discarded items, and Keegan quickly came to the realization that there would most likely be nothing of value in here, as looters had probably already made off with most of the would-be treasures. Oh well, it's not like we were treasure hunting anyway, Keegan thought, shifting the lantern to his other hand. Helios stayed nearby, as even though his trainer couldn't see or hear the Pokemon around them, the Ninetales could sense them, and he wasn't about to let his poor, hapless trainer get blindsided.

Sam, to say the least, was bewildered. She had thought the Scyther was still in pretty good shape, and when Bugsy recalled him, she had briefly thought she had somehow inadvertently broken another rule. Then when he said she had won, and motioned for her to join him, she walked forward in a daze, Star following behind tiredly. 'How did I do that?' she wondered to herself, as she numbly took her winnings.
"T-thanks. Wow...Um...I didn't see that coming. I'm so happy. But it was such a tough battle, I can definitely see the usefulness of Bug Pokemon now. You're a great Trainer Bugsy." Sam bit back a smile as she noticed Bugsy stretching his body to its full height. She didn't want to insult him. Sam pocketed the winnings, and patted Star on the head. "Nice job Star. You hung in there." Sam recalled the Marshtomp, who was too exhausted to protest, and turned once more to Bugsy. "I guess...I'll be going now. Hey, again, I'm sorry about my inattention to your rules. I'll take it as a lesson in my next Gym Battle." Sam was going to hold out her hand for him to shake, but she was suddenly overcome with shyness. She looked down out of embarassment and turned away, walking towards Miharu. "Thanks again," she called back to him. When she reached Miharu, she grinned broadly, not knowing what to say.

Kasiya couldn't help but wince every time the floor creaked under her feet, and she found herself constantly freezing in her tracks. Seto walked along just behind her, constantly shooting glares at Themis if the Manectric strayed too close. The Persian didn't really trust the Electric-type so he kept a close eye on it, which was difficult to do, seeing as how he was also trying to keep an eye on his trainer. His ears perked up every time she cried out or gasped, and he was poised to attack anything that jumped out at her. At one point they heard a loud barking coming from overhead, but Kasiya had been unable to point it out with the beam of her flashlight. To her it sounded like a Growlithe, and she smiled as it reminded her of Hiro's younger days.
After about ten to fifteen minutes of careful wandering, the trio found a small door off in one of the hallways, though it was rusted shut. The old, dried-out wood was no match for Seto's claws, however, and the now permanently-open door revealed the way down to the basement. "Good work, guys!" she whispered, grinning at the Persian and Manectric. Seto rolled his eyes but accepted the praise, silently wondering if she'd forgotten that Themis wasn't her Pokemon. The girl had to step over the many large splinters now littering the stairs, and she sighed with relief when her feet touched down on the very sturdy concrete floor. "Keegan?" she called out in a hushed whisper, coughing a little as some of the mansion's dust had settled in her throat and lungs.
She motioned for the two Pokemon to follow her as she made her way through the basement, noting that it wasn't as cool down here as most basements should be. She idly wondered if that had anything to do with it being on an island that housed an active volcano. "Keegan!" she called again, raising her voice a bit as she swept her flashlight around, trying to spot the familiar head of red hair. "We found the stairs!"

Keegan wasn't having a lot of luck in his searching for a way out of the basement, but that might have been because he was doing more snooping around than actual searching. Sure, he'd found nothing of value but there were interesting papers and notebooks stacked into musty old boxes. Most of the inks and print were faded beyond recognition, but there was enough tidbits about research and genetics and experiments there to make the redhead seriously wonder who had lived here last, and what they had used this place for. Helios, in the meantime, would have been bored out of his mind had there not been the occasional Rattata to scare back into hiding. The Ninetales wanted nothing more than to get out of this dusty place, as he could practically feel the dust settling on his perfect fur from all the old garbage his trainer was stirring up.
Helios was seriously considering burning the box of old books Keegan was currently digging through when he heard the slight creaking of stairs in the distance, and with a huff the fox trotted off, no longer interest in what Keegan was doing. The Ninetales' ear twitched as he saw a light in the distance, and he quickly recognized his teammate's scent. A bit relieved, the fox made his way over to meet the girl and lead her back to where her trainer was busy snooping. He paid little attention to Themis and Seto and walked right up to Kasiya. He, like his Electric-type teammate, had always liked the girl and he was happy to see that she hadn't gotten herself hurt again. He quickly turned and gestured with one of his tails for the small group to follow him.
Keegan, meanwhile, had released another cloud of dust into the air as he found another box full of papers and books, but this one was so musty and waterlogged that there was no way he'd be able to read any of it. He glanced over as his lantern began to flicker, now out of oil, but that didn't matter so much as he now saw Helios reentering the small room, Kasiya and the two other Pokemon following along after him. "Hey, you gotta see all this neat stuff," he said, pointing to the papers and notebooks strewn all over the floor. "I bet this place used to be an old laboratory or something, because it says something about experiments with Pokemon and gene-splicing." He didn't know why he was so interested in the history of this mansion, but he knew he wouldn't find the whole story here. I wonder if Blaine knows anything about it, he thought idly. ===== Miharu had coyly turned away from Sam and Bugsy as they exchanged the traditional after-battle pleasantries, turning back as she heard Sam's footsteps approaching. She returned Sam's grin, also unsure of what to say, but she quickly got it together. "Congratulations," she said, taking a small step back, wary of Sam hugging her. "You and your Pokemon were amazing, though I have to admit I was a little worried there." She was still smiling as she pushed a lock of green hair out of her eyes. "Should we get back to the Pokemon Center?" she asked after another awkward moment or two. She still wasn't very good at this friends-thing, but at least she was trying.

Sam nodded, trying to restrain herself. Though Sam had little to no social skills, she still enjoyed hugging very much. However, she had noticed Miharu was still a little uncomfortable, so Sam held back. "To be honest, I was absolutely terrified! I had no idea the Scyther had so much taken out of him. And when I screwed up..." Sam shook her head. "Well, I'll say this was more exciting then my battle with Brock. Brock was pretty much just keep using Water Gun, and then when Miles came out, one Low Kick was all it took." Sam took out the Hive Badge she had just won, and stuck it in the same pocket as the Boulder Badge, where the TM's were kept. "I really ought to get a badge case," she thought out loud, as she began walking for the door. She noticed her shoes were making a squeaky sound every time she walked from the water sloshing around in them.
"Miharu, did you get wet at all? I didn't realize Star's Surf would be so powerful...or so big. Sorry about that." Sam exited the Gym, heading straight for the Pokemon Center. She was feeling very good about today. Or rather, tonight it seemed. It had grown dark during the battle. "It's getting late," Sam said uncertainly, "Maybe we should bunk down for the night." She walked backwards, facing Miharu, watching for any sign of discomfort or confusion.

Akane took Nurse Joy's words to heart. As the her grief and concern receded like the tide it left her hunger and tiredness exposed. The young girl got up and shuffled her way to the empty trainers rooms. The bedrooms were utilitarian - serviceable but devoid of decoration. Akane hung her bag on the hook behind the door, the golden Wobbuffet statue clunking against the door, and went to get herself something to eat from the kitchen/common room. After raiding the fridge for a tuna salad sandwich and a glass of milk, Akane stumbled into the room she picked, and collapsed exhausted on the bottom bunk. She was asleep in seconds.
The dreams that came were a blur of darkness and grief, Akane could have sworn she even dreamed that a girl was crying. Details escaped her, much like trying to catch wisps of smoke in her hand, though the spirit of the dream came through strong - fear and grief in equal measures. The last thing she remembered was sitting in a bubble of darkness and seeing Twinkers through the gloom, looking for her trainer but never being able to see her.
Akane jerked awake in a cold sweat, the room dark save for what little of the city lights made it through the window. Twinkers was there sitting on the bed and tackle hugged her bestest friend as soon as Akane sat up. Nurse Joy must have brought Twinkers in when she released the jolly little Clefairy. The joy of being reunited with her Clefairy washed away much of the bad dreams the young trainer had endured, though it did nothing for the sticky sweaty feeling she still had.
"I'm sooo glad you're okay!" the blonde haired girl exclaimed as she hugged the pink Pokemon back. Twinkers flexed its tiny pink arms showing that it was strong and good to go. Akane laughed, "Now how about I freshen up and then we can go and get us a new friend to travel with?". She really had to have a shower and get rid of the sticky sweat feeling.

Kasiya took a quick step back as her flashlight revealed another set of glowing eyes in the darkness, these ones glowing an eerie crimson. Seto's ears flattened against his head for a moment, but he soon relaxed, as his keen feline night vision soon showed the newcomer to be Keegan's Ninetales, Helios. Kasiya let out a relieved sigh when she too recognized the Ninetales, and she smiled at the beautiful fox as he approached her. "Good to see you, Helios," she said, taking a moment to stroke his soft fur before he lead them back to where she assumed Keegan was. She coughed again as she entered the dusty room, able to see all the dust the redhead had stirred up in the beam of her light. "A laboratory?" she repeated, picking up one of the books from the floor. She could barely make out the faded title, or the illustration on the front. "But it's a mansion. Mansions are where rich people live," she protested, her visions of well-dressed people sitting down to tea with expensive china and silvers quickly being replaced by creepy scientists with lab coats and face masks, shiny, scary tools in their hands...
Kasiya shivered and tossed the book back into a box, kicking up even more dust. She wasn't interested at all in what secrets this place could hold, as she'd been more curious about the Pokemon that were now living here. She sighed and moved away from where the worst of the dust was, as it had been tickling her nose and she could feel a sneeze or two coming on. She managed to muffle them by burying her face in the corner of her elbow, but they still sent more shivers down her spine. Sniffling a bit she looked around again, a small sparkle just off to her right catching her eye as the flashlight's beam danced in that area. "Hmm? What's that shiny thing?" she murmured, already moving in that direction. Seto, also not a fan of the dust, had quickly followed after his trainer, wondering what had her attention. Kasiya shone the flashlight carefully, as she searched for whatever it had been that had sparkled, and she let out an excited "oooh!" when she saw it again.
It was a small, round, golden object, sitting at the very edge of an icky-looking puddle that Kasiya figured was old motor oil or something. She seemed oblivious to the putrid odor that had filled the air as she knelt down and picked up the small piece of gold, turning it over in her fingertips. "Is this real gold?" she asked no one in particular, unaware of the fact that the Persian at her side looked as though he were about to be violently ill from the awful stench. There was an ominous growling, gurgling sound, and quite suddenly the viscous puddle started bubbling and encroaching outwards. Kasiya let out a small, frightened squeak and jumped back, the golden nugget held tightly in her clenched fist. The mud puddle gave an angry-sounding groan and it began to rise up, and soon Kasiya saw two eyes poking out through the ooze, glaring at her. "Ooh, it's a Muk," she whispered, taking a few more steps back as the Sludge Pokemon materialized before her.

Well, even if Jaeshan wasn't impressed by the small mining town Robin thought it was really cool. It was awesome that they were so devoted to their jobs! It wasn't really a job when you loved what you were doing. Still to each their own and what one person found cool another person wouldn't. "Pokemon Center, pokemon center.... Umm... I think its right over there?" Robin wasn't to sure as she pointed to a few buildings ahead of her. Just because she had been somewhere before didn't mean she knew where she was going! Still Robin happened to be pretty darn lucky and she just so happened to be right. The small group headed over, Robin eventually had to scoop Black*Star up since he seemed to like to climb the machinery.
"Hello Nurse Joy!" Robin greeted enthusiastically waving with her free hand as she entered the red roofed building.
The nurse looked a little surprised at being greeted so happily but she smiled a bit and waved back at Robin. "Hello there."
Bounding up to the counter Robin put Black*Star on it and unclipping Ace's pokeball she put that on the counter as well. "Nurse Joy could you heal my Monferno and take a look at my Totodile please? My Totodile is still recovering from a battle he was in a while ago and I am just trying to keep him in good shape." Black*Star glared at Robin as she said he was hurt in battle. He was fine now! He was as strong, no stronger! then ever!
"Of course I can. What about your friend over their, does he need some help? I can fit more then one pokeball on the machine." Nurse Joy offered glancing back at the blond boy and giving him a bit of a wave as well.

Riza stepped outside of the pokecenter, still sipping her iced tea. It was cold and very refreshing and she sat down on a bench near the entrance to the red roofed building, her mind still racing with ideas for tonight's contest. No sooner had she set her bag down next to her when Eris' poke ball began to shake, and the Quilava let herself out. "Feeling cooped up?" Riza asked as the fire-type crawled into her lap and spread out, her four paws in the air so Riza could rub her tummy. Riza sighed and obliged the little fire-type, smiling down at the young Pokemon though she wished Eris had gotten the hang of her Extrasensory sooner. Eris made a happy purring sound and closed her eyes, entirely content to just stay right there. Riza couldn't help but agree, as even though she wanted to train more with the Quilava and Dratini, she was enjoying Eris' company and the beautiful day too much.
'I wonder how that Amy girl is doing,' she thought idly, remembering the cute Chikorita she'd had with her. The girl seemed very eager for the contest as well, and Riza wondered what she was doing right now. She also couldn't help but wonder what Crenu was up to, and how his own training was going. She was still worried about him but chose to keep that to herself, as she was sure he'd come to her when he was ready. Her face flushed a little as she remembered their kiss, and she quickly had another sip of her iced tea to cool her throat, smiling as she remembered their first moments together, everything from their small talk at the seminar, to him taking that bite from the Ekans to protect her, to her changing his bloody bandages. It had been a weird past few days, but at least they had been interesting. * * * * * Neither Katie nor Genki seemed that up set that the Roserade had dodged the Monferno's Flame Wheel, and Katie looked across the field at Gardenia, a small smile on her face. "Try harder? Okay," she said, an innocent tone to her voice. "Genki, Flamethrower," she commanded, her own voice taking on a strong authoritative tone. The Monferno, still engulfed in flames from his previous attack jumped high into the air, coming out of his tuck in a showy burst of fiery wisps. His tail flame burned brightly as he threw back his head and began gathering energy. With a loud cry he loosed a powerful jet of flames that went speeding on a wide, downward angle towards the Roserade.

Marshall and Flora were quite surprised to be summoned so early, the two quickly taking in their environment. It seemed to be a route just outside of Cerulean, which would eventually lead to the Power Plant, but none of them knew that.
"Since our training before got uh, interrupted..." Amy began, gently nudging her glasses back up the bridge of her nose, "I think we should continue. Flora, I want you to work on some of your own combinations and practice your Synthesis. Marshall, just practice your techniques." She leaned against a fence, producing Dex from her large bag. "And I am going to check out some possibilities for our new friend!" The two nodded agreeably and seemed to space out.
Flora decided that obtaining a grasp on Synthesis would be beneficial to everything, so the Leaf Pokemon raised her head to the sunlight, and figured it was like relaxing, or that one other word... what was it...? Meditating...? She seemed to lose herself in the bright, cheery sunshine and unknowingly began to glow. "Bay!" Her eyes snapped open and she focused all the energy into the tip of her leaf. With a snap of her head, the glow burst into a shower of small, green orbs that drifted gently down. "Bayleef!"
Marshall was unimpressed. He was doing way better than absorbing sunlight. Indeed, the Water Fish Pokemon had indeed been productive. He stood amidst a field of mud, having acted like a machine gun while playing with Mud Shot. So the Water/Ground-type grinned at everyone and let out a cheerful "Woopah!" before an actual idea struck his mind...
---
Jett had the habit of focusing on a single spot and getting more spaced out than an astronaut. So, of course, this habit had caught up to him, and the boy had his eyes trained on the right corner of the ceiling of the gym.
"Fly?" Aerosmith was concerned. Very much so. He gently nudged the boy with his foot, but gained no response.
Jett was imagining battling Lance while surfing lava and using a super-death move with the combined power of all his non-existant friends. Needless to say, this was a daydream he didn't want interrupted simply for staring at the fights. He wasn't going to miss his chance to battle Roxanne, of course not, but he needed something to do!
"...Beautiflyyyyy." There was more nudging, but nothing seemed to happen.
