@ Cyborg - Haha. *sweatdrops* Spanish is first period tomorrow too... Right after Chorus (which actually starts before the day's classes officially begins). xP
@ Citrus - Hm...to be precise. Sophomores are the only fortunate enough to have a fixed lunch period. Both Freshmen and Sophomores have 40 minute periods for lunch.
...Juniors aren't as lucky. Some of us don't have 40 minute lunches at all during the week... The rest of us either have one 40 minute lunch period during Wednesdays or Thursdays (mine is on Thursday). xP And to think my middle school had an hour lunch period (but then...it's all 1 hr classes)... But still! xP One whole hour! And there's recess, too...
@ mommy - Haha. Come to think of it...that's true. ;D All Chinese (well, the old generation like my parents especially) are paranoid of checking their products. xP
I don't quite remember when I became so afraid of fire... Before it was just a slight wincing looking at fire... But then again...I was always afraid of cooking because of the fire... It may have something to do with what my mom told me about her manager two years ago...or more likely, it just intensified the fear. Her son was killed in a house fire (it was on the news in New York). The worst...it was during December - the Christmas season - too...
Maybe it's my mom's fault after all...she happens to be horribly excellent at story-telling. She attended the wake and went into lurid detail describing it to me...especially the paying respects to the body part... xP
Cinco de Mayo (literally Fifth of May in Spanish). It's a Mexican festival-holiday that reflects cultural pride. Many people think it's their independence day, but that's not true. It's not mandated as a federal holiday but more like...hm... I don't have a good analogy for this one but I suppose something like England once celebrating the Glorious Revolution, except cinco de mayo in this case enjoyed long-term remembrance.
...to be honest, I find it surprising a single battle is immortalized that long. But since I hadn't studied the France vs Mexico part into detail, I can't honestly put a nail into it. But it makes me wonder why Americans don't celebrate the battles of Lexington and Concord, or at least Yorkton....or maybe Gettysburg... ._. Maybe it's because of the difference in enthusiasm between the two countries. xDD
