A young girl, no older than 16, meandered quietly over to the cashier, who had called her over for a price check. She brushed her fringe out of her eyes, carefully bumping him out of the way and taking over his position at the till. It seemed she was much more adept at the job, her fingers making quick work of the price check and scanning items for their patrons. The young man, looking embarrassed, walked over to her check-out, leaving her to run his own. She didn't care, as it gave her something to do. No one seemed to line up at hers anyway. Her dark brown eyes glanced up at the boy who had been packing the crate, a crooked smile crossing her face as she finished scanning their purchases. After finishing her job, she plucked a beatn looking notepad and pen from her pocket, quickly scrawling something on the paper.

Will you be paying with cash or charge? was scrawled neatly on the paper, her black hair with its large silver streak running down falling back into place where it was level with the tip of her nose. To be sure he'd seen her note, she tapped the paper carefully, not wanting her already damaged notepad to fall to pieces.

((Sorry; I decided to superimpose Ellen in the unnamed girl's place. It was the easiest place to interact.))

Raising a fist to her mouth, Victoria was about to give her version of the 'loser' cough in the hopes of speeding up the check-out process, when a second mega-mart employee made herself known, so to speak. With nothing, not even a word or a glance passing between them, the new-girl took over from where their former cashier had gotten stuck. Obviously not the least bit put off by this, Cashier #1 wandered off and within a moment, his replacement had scanned the Nesquik as well as the rest of their purchases.

"Thank you," she sputtered awkwardly, wishing there were more non-stupid people like her in the world. Glancing up at the girl as she jotted down something on a notepad, Victoria packed the last of their items into the crate and waited for Conner to pay so that they could get on with their plans for the evening.

The cashier ripped her note to the young man from her notepad, leaving it on the small ledge advertising the store. It only took her a few seconds to scrawl out a response to the girl, which she tore off and handed to the girl.

You're welcome. Dominic is new here, and he's a pain to train. My name's Ellen, if you didn't see my nametag. Read the note. Ellen waited for the boy's response, ready to open up the register or swipe a card if necessary. She thought the crate of snacks was a bit peculiar, but didn't right a further note to show her curiosity.

Conner read the checkout girl's note pad, asking himself why she needed it and why it was so battered as he did. He fished out his wallet. "I'll be paying by cash, hen." He answered her and smiled warmly, anything to waylay any possible suspicion. He handed over several notes that made an over estimate of the price.
He kept a straight face when Victoria thanked the young girl but he seriously wanted to laugh, mainly because of the the relief in her voice and absurdity of the lack of patience she seemed to have.

Ellen smiled back, gently taking the money and opening the cash register. Doing the math quickly in her head, she pulled out the appropriate amount of change and put it down on the small ledge where she'd left her last note. She had noticed him eyeing her notepad, but figured he'd discerned why she needed it. Ellen was a mute, and hadn't been able to make a sound ever since birth. In a few weeks, she'd have to get a new notepad, as this one was worn and running out of pages. However, her curiosity over the crate prompted her to write another note, her writing a little sloppier because of how quickly she'd written it.

Are you two having a party? You've sure bought alot of food. P.S. I'm a mute, in case you were wondering. Her note explained, a small smile still playing on her face. She would've tried to send him a telepathic message, but she didn't want to risk accidentally reading his mind; her powers weren't being very cooperative that day.

After everything was packed and ready to go, Victoria looked up at the cashier again and was quite surprised to see her writing out a second note. She craned her head a bit, in the hopes of peaking a look as what she was writing, but there was no need. Once the note had been written, the cashier ripped it out from her notepad and shoved it in Victoria's direction. Like a gift, almost. Raising an eyebrow and glancing at Conner, who by now hand handed over the cash he had commandeered, she reluctantly took the note, read it, and nodded her head softly in understanding.

"No problem," she said with a surprisingly friendly smile. Taking the note and shoving it in her pocket so that she could throw it away later, Victoria picked up the first crate with both hands, with the idea Conner would grab the second, and waited for him to take his change so they could skedaddle. But...by now the Cashier, Ellen, as she had introduced herself, had written a third note. Curiosity getting the better of her, the inpatient teen dropped the crate and shuffled over to where Conner was so that she could read it.

"Of course we're having a party," said Victoria without a moment's hesitation as she glanced back up at Ellen. "We always throw parties. We're just two incredibly awesome people throwing another incrdibly awesome party," she added, nudging Conner's side playfully and flashing another smile.

Watching the clone appear behind everyone else Albel could not help but to smile. Though his smile was short lived when he saw that she was going to accept their offer without a fight. Watching her and others head off, he sighed and let the earth around him fall to the ground.

"Boring", he said to himself as he slowly followed behind the group to their next destination.

"So . . . I guess you want to know what I can do . . ." Blade trailed off, uncertain. She only knew alittle of what she could do and even that was vague. Besides, Blade never really wanted to believe what she could do. It meant losing her home to protect her family. Every day she woke up, hoping, praying that it had been a dream.

"Oh yeh, we raise the roof on a nightly basis." Conner answered Victoria as he put his change back, making sure to keep the purloined moola out of sight within his bill fold. He heaved his crate up and got a good grip on the crate. "Let's get this stuff into the boot, Victoria." He said and began to walk to the exit. "Nice to have met you Ellen." He said as a sort of goodbye I'll be back here within five minutes anyway He thought.

Victoria backed up Conner's statement with another nod and as she picked up the crate and turned toward the door with him, she sure Ellen suspected nothing. Waving back to the girl as best as she could with her hands full, she tagged alongside Conner and leaned over to say something.

"Well, that was interesting," she said in a normal tone of voice, even though they were not out of earshot of the girl. Victoria could carefully contain hers, as well as Conner's voices so that only the other could hear without so much as breaking a sweat. Anyone outside a range of two feet would simple thing they've gone deaf. Or possibly daft.

"Do me a favor," she continued, as they entered the parking lot and started for the convertible. "And try not to run into that girl again. She's nice and all, but I don't think we need a mega-mart employee on our cases at the moment."

Conner scoffed. "I doubt she'd be much of problem but if worst comes to worst I'll handle it." He answered her. Once at the convertible he waited for Victoria to open the boot. "Try and keep composed until we get home, If your feeling on edge about what I did, contain it until you know you're safe and vent it then. Most crims and hustlers get caught because they act guilty." He advised her, making a point of keeping his own composure. "If you act suspicious then people cotton on to you fast." He added for emphasis.

"And don't run with scissors, right?" added Victoria smartly, after listening to Conner's bits of advice. Reaching the trunk of the convertible, she set her crate on the ground, fished the keys out of her pocket and popped the trunk. The only thing in there was Scott's Bayville High gym bag, which she shoved to the far corner to make room for their purchases.

"I think you're underestimating me, Conner," she said, smirking at him as she dropped her crate into the trunk. "I may not have a criminal record that you know of, but I do know how to keep cool at times like this, so don't worry about me, I'll make you proud."

((Sorry, I caught the flu. Xd))

Ellen was a bit confused by the girl's statement; it sounded sarcastic when she heard it. However, she decided to give them the benefit of the doubt when the guy with her joined in. Shrugging, she gave the two a small wave and got right to the next customer, wishing she could apologize verbally for the delay. To make up for it, she quickly scanned the woman's purchases, and wrote her a small apology note. Although it hadn't seemed odd at first, she realized she couldn't hear the party-goers even when they were still within a reasonable earshot. While it was curious, she couldn't leave her post to follow them. She was snapped back to reality by a middle-aged woman with a friendly disposition tapping her on the shoulder.

"Ellen, your shift's over." Sheila smiled, patting the younger girl on the shoulder. Ellen mouthed the word 'finally' and made an exaggerated expression of exasperation, smiling at the older woman. With a wave and a quick hug, Ellen headed off to get her usual clothes; she couldn't stand being in the Mega-Mart uniform for too much longer. Her day clothes were a little unusual, to say the least; despite the weather, she was wearing a black turtleneck sweater under a thin, hooded jacket. She was still wearing her black jeans, not really noticing she was wearing all black. As quickly as possible, she left the store, waving back at Dominic as she left. Once she was outside, she spotted the teens from earlier at a convertible, but decided against following them. They seemed nice enough, and she didn't want to creep them out. Her head was bowed as she walked passed them, her eyes drifting into the trunk of the vehicle. It was a surprise to see a Bayville High bag in the back; she attended the same school. Deciding to hurry along, she quickly headed on the path to her house; she didn't want to freak them out or get them upset with her.

Conner placed his crate in the boot and shut it. "I don't mean to lecture you or insult you, hen. I just want to insure that the fuzz don't come knocking on Xavier's door." He said meaningfully. "I'll be back quickly Victoria." He told her and headed back to the store. He stoppd and looked back at the young mutant. "And just for the record; I don't have a criminal record, I'm too good to get caught out. But I'd love to know the details of your's sometime." He added with a grin and walked briskly back into the store.
He made beeline for the sporting goods section and quickly perused the cold weather clothing; he picked out a dark grey fleece in his size and grabbed a pair of fingerless gloves and then grabbed a torch, notepad and pencil from various sections before heading for the checkout, he'd be back for anything else he needed at a later date.
He was through the checkout fairly quickly, getting Domonic once again but no problems arose this time. He bagged his gear and headed out the door again, noting that he hadn't seen hide nor hair of Ellen, and walked straight for the convertible.

Xavier tilted his head slightly at her question. He all ready knew the answer to that just by her performance outside. "Only if you're comfortable telling me." He said not wanting to put her on the spot about something she was so clearly uncomfortable with at the moment. She would have to come to grips with her situation sooner or later but for now he wanted her to just be comfortable here.
