Sam remembered Focus Energy, and she was wary of its effects. She didn't want Star too close to that Scyther now. Staying far away would allow the slower Marshtomp to dodge the quick Scyther. Sam debated between using an Ice Beam, which had major type advantage but was easier to dodge, or using Surf, which was hard to dodge but had no type advantage and hadn't been practiced as much. Still, Sam decided she would prefer a sloppy Surf to a not-so-sloppy Ice Beam.

"Star, use Surf! This time, I want you to make a huge wave and crash it on top of the Scyther, kay? Stay back from it."

Star, bouncing in place with energy though her body still ached, conjured a wave out of thin air, as well as drawing on the water flooding the floor. The wave still wasn't tsunami-sized, but it was bigger then the last, and more coherent. It looked more like a ideal drawing of a wave. Star held it in place as it grew in size, then released it. The wave sped toward the Scyther, taller then the Mantis Pokemon, and began to crash above it.

Eztli strode through Canalave City, hand on Malinche's Pokeball at her belt. She kept a few yards ahead of Kai, but she couldn't go too far, lest the Death Bracelet start its countdown. She left the city limits thinking about her mission. Kai would be transporting her to Jubilife City via his Gyarados. There, he would be her shadow as she attempted to find Mr. Adler and his research. Burn the office, burn the house, and kidnap Adler. That was her mission. Eztli wondered how she was going to transport the journalist back to Canalave City. She guessed that Kai would help there, she didn't have any other options. She also wondered how she was going to set a safe, controlled blaze without leaving trace evidence. She couldn't see any immediate solution to the safe and controlled part. The easiest scenario was to simply strike a match on the research papers, but she didn't have any matches on her, and she couldn't buy any without being noticed. She stuck her hand in her pocket, and felt cold metal. She withdrew the item, an idea in her head. Her Zippo lighter, dark metal with an acrylic blood drop imprinted on it. Eztli had always thought it was a bit dark for her, she was usually a very optimistic person, but it was suited perfectly for this mission. The lighter was distinctive, but if she wasn't seen...

Eztli turned her attention to being invisible during her mission. How would she avoid security cameras and leaving impressions on people? She could scout out the camera locations, but that was much too complicated and would make people suspicious. She wondered if Malinche could take them out, but she doubted it. Besides, it was too conspicuous. What if she pretended to be an anonymous tip for the journalist? Hide in plain sight, and all that. She could take on her Alixandra Harris persona, and change clothes while she was executing her mission. Kai had packed her a standard female Doulos uniform, a simple black T-shirt with an insignia on the shoulder, a circle enclosing a wheel of arrows. Along with it went simple denim jeans and a pair of black hiking boots. Eztli had raised an eyebrow at the simple uniform, but Kai had glared at her. He had only said, "Inconspicuous," as an explanation before shoving the clothes into a bag. Eztli could wear that uniform, and then change into her red shirt and khaki pants. As she thought, she began to impulsively flick the lighter lid open and shut. A few times, with practiced ease, she rolled the wheel and brought a small flame to life. She would then slam the lid down to extinguish it. She shuddered when she suddenly felt Kai's hand on her shoulder. She had not heard him approach.

"Stop that. You look nervous. People notice nervous people. They get suspicious." Eztli watched him. Was he actually helping her? Was it subtrefuge? She mentally shook her head. She saw nothing wrong with his advice, and she wouldn't be sucked into the paranoia. She put the lighter back into her pocket. They had reached the coast, the waterway they would have to cross to reach Jubilife. It was long and narrow, and Eztli didn't like it. She also didn't like the prospect of the ride across on Kai's Gyarados. Kai smirked as he noticed her discomfort. He released the Atrocious Pokemon, who landed in the water with a rather large splash. He motioned for Eztli to clamber on its back. She did clumsily, not accustomed to Water-Type Pokemon, and sat near the fins on its head. She watched disinterestedly as Kai climbed aboard with grace she wouldn't have expected from the big man. She turned away from him, so he couldn't see the slight blush that crept into her cheeks. She wasn't embarassed easily, but there were limits.

"Kai, hand me the uniform. I need to change before we reach Jubilife." Kai said nothing, restraining himself from smiling. He wasn't a pervert, but he was a sadist, and he could tell from Eztli's voice that she was being humiliated. He handed her the uniform happily, even averting his eyes as she began to undress. She was out of her old clothes and into the new ones within a few minutes, a small feat considering she had to keep all the clothes and herself precariously balanced on the Gyarados' back. She kept silent as she handed her clothes to Kai to put away. They rode in silence.

For the briefest of moments, Sasha contemplated releasing Ampoule so she could enjoy the water along with her. However, the momentary idiocy passed her rather quickly, and she realized rather fast why that would be a stupid, nigh fatal idea. "Duh." she said, scoffing at her own airheadedness. "But you know who iz small enough to f'eet in here and won't k'eel me wi's s'housands of volts?" Sasha reached out of the shower for her bag, covering herself with the curtain should anyone choose to barge in. After a moment or two of rummaging, she found the right Pokeball, or so she thought. She double checked, not wanting to release Pierre and be crushed to death, or Roulette and suddenly be in a cramped space with a huge, wet, scared and surprised bird with a 2 foot long razor sharp beak.

But this one was the right one, she was sure of it! But just to be safe, you know, for the Pokemon's sake, she decided to release it outside the shower. "Ha!" in a flash of light, Sasha's little darling, Omelette, was released. "Come on, sweetie, you gotta keep me company."

The Azurill looked around in confusion for a moment, wondering where it was. It looked like one of the changing rooms on the ship, not like she knew what that was. But what she did see was her trainer, covered in water, and holding an outstretched arm. Omelette squeaked in joy, and quickly hopped up, jumping up and down excitedly as Sasha carried her into the shower.

The two enjoyed a relaxing shower together. Sasha put the little Azuril on her shoulder and told the little Pokemon her troubles. While the girl was sure that Omelette didn't understand a word, Pokemon were good at picking up on the emotions of their trainers, and she knew that somehow, the Azurill knew how messed up she felt inside. "What do you s'hink, Omelette? What should I do?"

The Pokemon sucked in its lips at both ends of its mouth, like it was taken by surprise by the question. Somewhere deep inside her head, the Ratatta running inside the wheel that fueled its brain had a massive heart attack due to over stimulation and died, leaving the poor Azurill to fend for itself. Omelette puffed her cheeks up as she tried to find a suitable response, but kinda just froze on the spot.

Sasha giggled. Her Pokemon's seemingly mindless want to make her feel better had in fact, worked. Sasha extended a slender finger and gently poked the Azurill in the cheek. Omelette let out a squeak, letting all the air out of her face in an amusing rush of air. "Merci, mon amour." she said softly as she pat her now dizzy Pokemon on the head. "Z'hat iz just what I needed." Sasha smiled, and continued her shower, rubbing a bit of soap on Omelette so she didn't feel left out.

Sasha's bag shook atop the toilet, and the universe heard the silent cry of a jealous Golem.

Kasiya was still busy congratulating Seto on a job well done and wondering where in the mansion she should explore first when she heard a commotion from the nearby room. Seto's ears perked up at the sound and he gave his trainer 'the look', which Kasiya returned. "I sure hope Keegan's not destroying the place," she mumbled, getting to her feet. Seto nodded in agreement and moved ahead of his trainer, his paws making no sound whatsoever as he walked across the dirty floor. Kasiya followed along behind the Persian, trying to make her steps as light and graceful as the feline's, and while she wasn't quite as good as he was, she was a little impressed with herself and her so-called 'stealth'.

Seto poked his head into the room, eying the large hole in the floor disdainfully. Keegan's Manectric was peering down through it, and the Persian silently padded up to Themis' side, also stealing a glance into the hole below. He gave an inquisitive meow and looked over his shoulder as Kasiya came into the room, her eyes wide as she took in the scene. "What happened in here?" she asked, looking up at the ceiling as faint traces of smoke were still drifting upwards. There was also a lot of water on the floor, and of course, the large hole in the center of it. Kasiya gasped quietly and carefully tiptoed over to it, almost too afraid to look. "Keegan?" she called down, her voice echoing eerily in the darkness. "Are you okay? You're not dead, are you?" She looked back to the Manectric and then down into the hole again. "What happened?"

Jake gave another forced smile at Robin's comment, and nodded, though he only agreed slightly. He'd only been with Turtwig since earlier this morning, and he already felt quite close to the Pokemon. Atop his head, Turtwig chirped in reply, ruffling the boy's spiky blonde hair with his front legs. This made the boy feel a little better, and he laughed out loud when he saw the little Totodile practically clinging to Robin's chest. The little gator was obviously happy in his current position and Jake couldn't blame him.

He took a deep breath as they entered the cave, which Jake realized was known as the Oreburgh Gate thanks to the nearby sign post. Underneath, in faded lettering, it read 'beware of Geodude and Zubat' and Jake couldn't help but think at the same time? He was still grinning even as he scanned the area for the aforementioned Pokemon, though he wasn't entirely sure what a Zubat even looked like. That didn't mean he wanted one to jump out at him though, and both he and Turtwig kept alert as they made their way through the short cave.

Following Jaeshan and his super cute hat Robin didn't even bother to read the sign, that took the fun out of adventures! Though even she could have guessed there would be lots of Geodude and Zubat in the caves. Holding onto her pokemon Robin glanced around at her noticing the spot where she had lost in her last pass through here. She wasn't to bitter about her loss, it just showed her that she needed a lot of training. Training was good, very good for her actually, she was learning a lot and it would help her and her team become stronger. Still the trip through the cave turned out to be rather uneventful. Smiling and taking a deep breath of fresh air Robin put Black*Star down trusting him now that they were out of the cave.

Stepping in front of Jaeshan and his Turtwig Robin grinned at the two and gestured to the mining city that was a little ways in front of them. "Thats Oreburg. Isn't it cool?" She paused glancing back at the city and remembering why she was here in the first place. "We should probably stop by the pokemon center though." Reaching up, pretty high to Jaeshan was a lot taller then her! She patted Turtwig on the head and grinned at the blond. "Lets go! Black*Star put that down!" She managed to catch in time as the Totodile was trying to pick up a large rock in order to show how strong he was.

There was that unwelcomed disorientation that embraced Amy as her eyes flickered open. She felt her heart begin to calm down, though she was far from a nightmare. Her own dreams had been perfect memories, down to the very last word and half-smile.

The girl blinked, but refused to cry as she once did when this had happened before. She wouldn't break, not in public. But then she realized where she was and took in how she felt. Wonderful, that's how she felt. The gentle aroma of spring seemed to waft about the salon, and there was some nice music playing. From the back room, there was a series of joyous cries, one of which being that tell-tale "Woopah!"

"Oh, look, she's awake!" Rose cried as she returned to the room, Flora and Marshall in tow. Flora, who had gotten a somewhat rugged look to her over the past few days, looked absolutely refreshed. Marshall looked as happy as ever, not a speck of dirt on him. "You were like a Snorlax using Rest, let me tell you! You were out for all of your pampering... but that's okay, we got our work done!"

Amy look note of how she looked, or at least what she could see. Her nails were a glossy shade of emerald green, matching perfectly with her kimono. Her toes were the same, and she turned to face the mirror. Her hair was much smoother (being out in the wilderness and battling kind of got a girl the whole Hermione Granger look, you know) and it had a nice shine to it. And on the counter, her glasses were waiting just for her, without a single smudge!

"Thank you," she whispered as she got up. The girl began to put on her shoes only after making sure that the nail polish wasn't wet. "It's... it's wonderful." She looked gracefully up to Rose and the newly returned Jordan, who was recalling Marshall and Flora. The girl found her bag, quickly retrieving her wallet to pay for all of this.

"Your hair should be fine," Jordan said as Amy began to collect money. "But it'd be good to comb through it before the contest. Especially if you're going to train some more. Flora and Marshall should be fine, and you're good to go!"

Amy merely smiled as she placed the money on the counter, which was collected swiftly by Rose. "Come back any time!" she called, and the coordinator (in only a few hours) nodded before she left the building, bidding a quiet farewell to the girls and the Sunflora.

"Well," she sighed happily, taking notice of the sun that was no longer in the center of the sky. "Let's get back to training!"

When Faustus' Dragon Rage died down, Plua the Fearow lay in a crumpled heap on the ground, eyes squeezed shut. The Dratini gave a cheer when he saw that he'd won, though he did feel a little bad for it. Riza walked over to the dragon's side and knelt down. "That was incredible," she said, holding up Plua's poke ball and recalling her. She carefully studied the Dratini, suddenly realizing that he was no longer suffering from paralysis. "Oh, that must have been your Shed Skin ability kicking in," she said, putting two and two together. "I bet Plua hadn't seen that one coming." She smiled at the red and white sphere that held the bad tempered Fearow before putting it back on her belt, and she stood up, aware of the fact that two thirds of her team were currently fainted. "Well, I guess we should head back to the pokecenter and then figure out what to do next." She recalled the Dratini into his poke ball as well, opting to leave Akima out for now. She'd grabbed her bag and started heading back into town, looking over her shoulder to see Akima plodding along somewhat hesitantly.

"What's wrong?" she asked, stopping to let the Sneasel catch up. Akima didn't say anything, but she looked up at Riza and forced a grin. She didn't want her trainer to worry about her, especially with their contest debut only hours away. Akima made her grin wider and ran to catch up to her trainer, stopping only when she'd reached her side. Riza smiled and knelt down to pat the dark and ice-type on the head, still oblivious to her Pokemon's sad thoughts. It didn't take them long to get back into Cerulean, and it took even less time for Riza to find the red roofed pokecenter. She checked the clock on the wall, noting she still had plenty of time before her appointment at the salon, and she quickly returned Akima to her poke ball and set it in the tray alongside the other five. Riza stared down at the six spheres, still quite amazed that she now had a full team. She smiled brightly as she waited her turn in line, suddenly realizing that she no longer felt like a rookie trainer.

She passed the tray to the nurse when her turn finally came, waiting patiently at the front desk until they were returned to her. "Thank you," she said, nodding politely to the nurse as she was truly grateful for the services of the pokecenter. Before heading back outside again she stopped at the vending machine and got herself an iced tea, her mind still racing with ideas for tonight's contest.

The Geodude's eyes burst open and the Rock Pokemon began to visibly shake at the sight of this Ghastly getting much, much too large. "How cr-creepy!" the teal bombshell exclaimed, matching her Pokemon's sentiments exactly, though for different reasons then one might expect. She didn't like Ghost-types not due to their stereotypically "haunted" connotation, but for the fact that she liked her Pokemon, well, hard and solid, just like her hardy ol' Geodude, not some mysterious mass of fumes and smoke and scientifically inexplicable matter. So unlike the carbon compounds of her dear, dear Rock-type. She watched, half mystified and half disgusted, as the Night Shade descended on her Pokemon and dealt a fairly strong blow; this Ghost-type was certainly more experienced than her little baby.

"Don't let that shake you, baby!" she shouted in her sweet voice, seeing that her poor thing had taken quite a chunk of challenge. She knew they were outmatched in terms of experience and level -- heck, this guy might even be a good match for her beloved role model Roxanne -- but it would be rather classless to complain (not that the fact that her breasts were bulging was classless, oh no). She was supposed to merely test trainers' mettles, anyways, particularly those lusty boys... "Give 'em all you got, Geo! Magnitude!" And with that, the Rock-type slammed into the ground, hard, causing a ripple of rocks spiraling towards the Ghastly.

Mitsu forced herself to stand up, probably doing more damage than really helping her body, but it was the principle of the thing. She straighten her body out, the red glowing still covered her body like fire on a Magmar. And then she slapped herself hard across the cheek. "Calm down," she sternly ordered herself.

The natural red glow on her cheeks replacing the one that had previously surrounded her body. She took in a few deep, ragged breaths, inhaling and exhaling as if her life depended on it. Well, actually, it did. She closed her eyes, concentrating on the sounds of the world around her to help her come down to earth. The earth scent of the volcano and the somewhat choking ash and remnants of fire filled her nostrils. The distinct scent of nighttime also assailed her, inviting it's cooling nature to rest on her skin despite the heat in the air. Cinnabar was rife with nature, both new and familiar to the girl. It was exhilarating and calming all at once, it felt good, and it felt . . .right.

Snapping her eyes open, Mitsu felt in control. She exhaled one last time before returning her eyes to Mike. Luckily she did indeed miss his shape shifting facial features and his twisted inner monologue, neither of which would have helped Mitsu cope with her debilitating sickness.

"It's a long story," Mitsu warned, "that dates back seven years ago when I was seven myself. No one really knew about Team Rocket in Viridian, where I was born by the way, back then so Giovanni had it easy when it came to conducting horrible experiments. He probably still has an easy time avoiding detection."

"Anyways, back then he was really interested in gene splicing and the like. The scientist tried many times to combine human and Pokemon DNA, though they quickly found out it was hard. Many people died, a lot of them abducted children like myself. I was one of the last trials. Project 251 was my name for a while. Two hundred and fifty-one. Also known as Celebi in the Pokedex. Team Rocket had the brilliant idea that perhaps a human with time traveling powers could be useful to them."

Mitsu paused to laugh here, the laugh eerie and a tad bitter. "But you know, I was on the lab table, they were just about ready to try their latest test, something that they were very, very confident that would work. And then the voice told me to jump." She smiled, "It told me to push too. So I did. Now, you probably thought they'd use restraints, but testing left poor children like us near death so they didn't feel the need for it. They were stupid and careless."

Mitsu paused again, "But the voice was smart! So I listened to the voice. I pushed the scientist. The scalpel he was holding cut me but I didn't feel it. He fell back onto a table full of chemicals. Something about those things weren't very safe so the lab went BOOM!" The purple haired girl laughed, throwing up her hands in the air for dramatic effect. "It exploded in a flash of red and orange. Some of the red felt a bit sticky too, I remember that well."

"Soooo, I blew up the lab and all it's contents. Team Rocket pretty much lost everything it had on genetic splicing and whatnot as well as a lot of members! I saw them die, begging me for their lives as I ran out into the forest for safety."

Mitsu smiled again, though it was uncaring and almost mocking. "Now I don't care about them. They deserved to die," she spat, "But when the lab exploded it also caught on fire and the fire decided to burn the beautiful Viridian Forest." Her face swapped to show sorrow, "I burned it, Mike. I killed a lot of innocent Pokemon. I hurt the forest so much that species decided to leave. I didn't mean to kill them, Mike. I really didn't."

Mitsu hadn't noticed it, but as she was telling the story, her tones swapping between bitter and sorrowful, that her gaze had gradually fallen to her shoes. She looked up as she finished her tale, though not the whole thing. There was quite a bit she had left out, like the fate of her parents, how she'd ended up as a test subject, what had happened after the lab explosion, and the details of the lab experiments. Maybe Mike would ask about thoses, she didn't put it past him to.

"So there you have it. I killed a lot of Pokemon, and Rocket scientists, all to save myself. And the funny part is," Mitsu explained, "Is that I would do it all over again."

"Dodge that Flame Wheel Roserade!" Gardenia commanded, pointing at the on coming wheel of flame. The leader could feel the battle coming to a close, though she knew that there was still plenty of damage they could wreak on the Monferno if Katie and her fire breathing companion were not careful.

Roserade, though a bit worn out by Noa's countless attacks, still had enough in her to easily evade the fiery attack as if she had just been sent out into battle. The Grass Pokemon eyed Genki wearily, she was never fond of Fire types, naturally, being a plant herself. She tucked neatly, rolling to the side to avoid the Flame Wheel before springing back lithely to her petite feet. A perfectly, and gracefully, executed dodge.

"You won't get the Forest badge that easily Katie! Gotta try harder!" the leader winked, her orange locks, spraying droplets everywhere as her hair was still very wet from the recent downpour.

Mixcoatl sat on the edge of his cot in his cell, his head in his hands. He had seen the look of contempt Eztli gave him when he had complacently left for his cell. Eztli thought him weak, a fool, and she didn't love him. She didn't have any reason to, but Mix still felt a tad betrayed. Mostly though, he felt sadness. His poor sister...whether she liked it or not, she was being drawn into the madness, and she wouldn't be able to escape. Mixcoatl wasn't able to escape, no matter how long of a "vacation" he had taken. He was happy the Death Bracelet had been removed, but now it was on his own little sister's wrist. Mixcoatl was now free to wander Doulos HQ, but he couldn't leave, or enter Command Central or the Armory. Nor could he eat with the other agents, especially the Peacemakers. This last was for Mix's own safety. Many of the Peacemakers felt intense animosity to the deserter, and would kill him in any number of ways, with virtually no repercussions. The only reason Andrew kept him alive was because he still felt Mixcoatl was useful, if only as a pawn to keep Eztli under control. He did not seem tor realize that Eztli no longer had any ties to her older brother. Sighing, Mixcoatl stood, and left the room. He headed for the Training Field, which was unfortunately indoors, holding Quetzal's Pokeball in his hand. When he reached the large grassy field, he released the Charizard. Quetzal landed on the field, a curious look in his eyes. He was the same height as Mixcoatl, so he could stare straight into his master's eyes, which held pain that the Flame Pokemon couldn't understand.

"Hello Quetzal." Mixcoatl said sadly, reaching up and petting the Charizard's head. Quetzal smiled contentedly, forgetting about Mix's pain. He lowered his head and nuzzled Mix's neck in affection. Mix laughed despite his sadness, and pushed Quetzal away playfully. "You big lug, stop that! You're tickling me." Quetzal thumped his tail up and down, like a very happy dog. "Wanna go flying?" Quetzal nodded, his eyes wide and excited. He loved Flying with Mix on his back. Mixcoatl craned his neck up to look at the ceiling. It reached an impressive height. In the city, there was a large, seemingly dilapidated skyscraper built above it that had a codemned sign pasted over the front. On the inside, the structure was refined and strong, allowing Flying Pokemon to soar very high. Of course, every once awhile someone broke in, but they were never a problem for very long. The only entrances were 100 feet above Training Field's floor. Either the intruder died, or broke a limb and was then killed. Mixcoatl climbed up on the Charizard's back, disappointed that it wasn't outside, where he could smell the fresh air. Though he didn't like the sea, the air inside the building was stale, and he would prefer the salty tang of sea air to skyscraper air. Still...As Quetzal took off, Mix felt momentarily free. He didn't mind Flying at all. It had become second nature to him after flying so many missions with Quetzal. Mix lay flat on the Charizard's back, trusting Quetzal to catch him if he fell. He thought about all the missions he had done, amazed and horrified at his actions. No wonder his other Pokemon had hated him. He hadn't even noticed his transition into monster...and apparently Quetzal still hadn't. The big goofball was still as happy-go-lucky as ever, if anything loving Mixcoatl even more now that he brought familiarity back into the Flame Pokemon's life. Quetzal had not liked being cooped up in his Pokeball for the better part of 7 years, and on the few occasions he had been let out, it was always in secret. Quetzal had never seen another soul besides Mix during those times. It had been horrible for him. Doulos HQ, that was his home. He knew people there, and could Fly to his heart's content.

Leon was now quite more interested in the battle than the women’s bosom, as it appeared that the battle was going very well for Ghos right now, which had seemed not to be the case very much while they had been training outside of the city. He didn’t bother telling Ghos to try to dodge the rocks, as it wouldn’t have done much good—they were falling from just about everywhere, it seemed, though luckily none of them were hitting either of the trainers. It was a very good thing, as something like that definitely wouldn’t have left Leon in a very good mood.

Ghos winced as the rocks hit him, closing his eyes shut tight until they were done falling, before reopening them and shooting the Geodude and angry look. Leon had momentarily pondered what attack to use next , before deciding on what he decided just to use Giga Drain again. Ghos needed to practice it, and it was clearly his strongest attack for now, at least, and especially for, this battle. ”Ghos, use Giga Drain again. Try to get the orbs to move faster towards your opponent,” He guided the Gas Pokémon.

Ghos concentrated a bit harder on this attack than he had with Night Shade, and very shortly afterwards the large, greenish orbs were floating from his body towards the Geodude. They were still floating fairly slowly, but that had in fact picked up the pace compared to the first time, so at least it was some improvement.

Kilik nodded and waved good-bye to Sasha as she went into the room. And now he was wide awake again. The boy cleared his throat and walked back to his bedroom, (taking note that Themis was gone) and sat on the edge of the bed. Did he just imagine that Themis was there when he woke up? Or did Keegan come in and get him while he was in the hallway? The former was probably the most likely answer. He happened to imagine things when he wakes up feeling groggy.

He put his face in the pillow and closed his eyes, trying his best to sleep.

Mazarin was pleased when the two of them decided to trust him, completely ignoring Train's question about TEAM. He couldn't just DROP everything and fill them both in on exactly what it was he was doing. But their trust was not misplaced. After all, he wouldn't harm a fly! Unless that fly was a Bug Pokemon that happened to look like a fly and he just so happened to have a fly swatter by the name of Shuckle, where he'd just throw the Rock-type at said fly Pokemon. He put his hands on his hips and hopped off into Mt. Moon, motioning for the others to follow him. The cave was cold, dark, and dank, but there was enough light for them to see. Zubat were flying all around the roof of the cave, while Geodude and Paras hid in the rocks. "Story says that Mt. Moon was created when a giant meteor came to Earth and crashed, bringing with it the mysterious Clefairy. Even Moon Stones came from the meteor," he said, "and that's where it comes from."

"Or maybe the story is a lot of bunk and was just made up by the first couple of people in the Kanto region to give AWWWWE to everyone," he put his hands into his pockets, "Either way, it's a pretty cool story. You two," he looked over his shoulder at Train and Carlos, "you've both been through here many times, right? WEEEELLP," he laughed, "you lead the way. This is the first time I've been to Mt. Moon and I don't know jack-diddly-dink about how to get out of here."

Mike stayed quiet (somehow) during the entire story. Whatever lack of self control he may have had, this was important, and if a stray thought popped into his head during Mitsu's tale he, quite literally, punched it out.

Her laugh, her smile, they were so hollow, so filled with sadness. It was like she didn't want to be laughing at all, but crying, sobbing. Nothing was right in her mind, her emotions were all messed up from such a revelation: the revelation of oneself and the horrors one is capable of committing. "Mitsu," Mike said after a long spell of silence. "You did what you had to do to survive. Those rocket monsters, ******** 'em. They kidnapped and experimented on children. You were right, they did deserve to die. You imprinted your own sense of justice on them that night." He smiled. "As for the forest, it is a shame. Too often are people and Pokemon alike caught in the cross-fire of tragedy." That was a memory he was far too familiar with. "Terrible things can happen in life as well as good. We can no more take credit for the bad than the good. Life is what it is. You shouldn't burden yourself for an accident. Fire can be...unrelenting. Consuming. Beautiful." Mike's eyes glazed over with the thought of the forest immolated in flames. What a wondrous sight that must have been. "But no man, nor Pokemon has complete control over it. Even I, with my new gift, cannot bend flames to my will." He lifted an open palm and created a small ball of fire in his hands. "I can't tell how it will burn, where it will go, or if it should go out once it leaves my hand." He closed his hands around the flame, and in a plume of grey smoke, it was snuffed out.

"Fire. It's a lot like life." Mike went on. "As bright as we may burn, we may all be snuffed out...at any time." His eyes looked to the distance, to what he assumed was the direction home. "So many lives faded into smoke that night, Mitsu. The night four years ago today. My...hn-hn-hn...birthday." He threw a hand to his face and roared in laughter. "Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha! How ironic! How cruel! How positively POETIC of life to put on such a show! On a day of joy, the celebration of my life, where one is surrounded by loved ones, and presents, and cake, I was surrounded by waves, by fire, and DEATH! AH-HA-HA-HA-HA!" The boy fell to his knees and punched the ground as he laughed. "To think someone as insignificant as a 14 year old boy could nearly level a city with his ignorance, his selfishness, his IDIOCY! HA-HA-HA-HA!" He turned to his friend, once again wearing a smile. "I expected the salvation of my homeland, the freedom from the turbulent waters of uncertainty and to be transported into a new age of peace, prosperity, and FREEDOM! A-HA! Instead, INSTEAD, I BROUGHT DEATH! Hundreds, maybe thousands, I don't know, fled as the city tore itself apart from beneath, beside, and below!" He stepped forward to his friend, as if she were a doll on a chair, and he was a little boy again, pretending that it were a real person. "All over one little, tiny, minuscule little jewel: the fabled Red Orb of Hoenn."

He looked over at his friend, then at the moon high in the sky. "Well, long story short, love: I was tricked by a very convincing man to steal it. I was told that should he obtain the orb, I would insure the freedom of Hoenn, and most importantly, the safety of my love: Flannery Allison Moore." He cackled to himself, clutching his side as he remembered.

"It's funny. Ha-ha! IT'S SO FUNNY! All those people! Dead! Just because I thought I was helping the right side! Ah-HAH-HAH-HAH! Every night I'm assailed with visions, thoughts, memories! Memories of those whom died, whom I killed! Yes. Yes, that must be it! It makes sense! The ghosts of those I killed that night, they...they're inside me! All of them! They whisper to me in the night while I dream, while I sleep. Some even grow so bold as to speak to me during the day. They tell me, the beg revenge. Justice! That is why I need you, Mistu! That is why I need all of you! I need you to put these restless souls within me at ease. With the destruction of Team Magma, the poor, wretched souls of Lilycove may yet find peace in death, like I have. Hm-hm-hm-hm." Mike let out a heavy breath, black smoke jettisoning from his mouth.

"You said that you'd do it all again. That you'd protect yourself. I understand that. I really do. I too, would do it all again. I'd do anything to protect my beloved. I would endure any pain, any agonizing torture just so she could continue to live in peace, unharmed, and happy." He scoffed at the thought. "My blindness almost got her killed that day. For that, I will never forgive myself." Mike looked up at the sky, at all the beautiful stars. "I hope she can forgive me." He looked over at his friend, his eyes showing incredible fatigue. "You should probably get some rest." he said with a soft snort. "Although knowing our crew of insomniacs, that might seem unlikely, but just try for me, okay? We've both done a lot of talking, and you'd be surprised how much that can take out of you. Nitro." Mike snapped his fingers, and seconds later the dragon lumbered over to his side. "Take Mitsu down, please. And be gentle, she's had a rough day." Mike rubbed the underside of his Pokemon's jaw, looking into his eyes with genuine care. "Go now, okay?" he said to Mitsu before turning around and staring back at the sky.

Mitsu was fairly silent as Mike relayed the rest of his story. She had come to realize that Flannery was more than just important to him, but that in fact she was his entire world. It all made sense as his tale filled in the blanks left from the Slateport events, though putting into perspective Mike's true intentions. Again, there were those uncanny similarities. The murders they'd unintentionally committed, the desire to save life, and then the justification for all of it. Though he did it to save Flannery, she did what she did to save herself. He had claimed that he was selfish, though Mitsu believed he had no idea how far her own greed went. She herself wasn't even sure.

The purple haired girl knew that Mike had wanted her to talk, to express her guilt and sorrows. She felt better, but not by much. He was prevent her from snapping, from giving in to the terrors that lied within herself like he had done. It was a warning. But all she knew was that her life was important, more important than anything else in this world, and she would do whatever it took to stay alive. Anything. So long as she came out alive, it did not matter to her. A bleak existence is still an existence nonetheless.

"Sleep sounds good but impossible," Mitsu answered after hearing him out, the first words she'd spoken in a while after relaying her long story. She turned to go, though stopping just a moment later. It must be hard for Mike, she thought, not being able to touch his friends and family, his loved ones. The most basic forms of affection and communication were now unavailable to him. The girl bit the corner of her lower lip, contemplating for just a moment before making up her mind.

She took a few steps closer to Mike before wrapping her arms around him, giving him a light hug. He was hot and it burned, but luckily her green aura was kind enough to reduce the heat just enough to be bearable. It was like she was being burned and then healed all at once. Pain and relief experienced simultaneously was indeed an odd sensation she thought in the back of her mind. Mitsu had missed these hugs and she could tell there wouldn't be many in the future. Letting go, she took a few steps backward before swiveling around on her heel. "Thanks Mike, and good night," she replied before walking toward the Charizard.

She climbed upon the dragon who sailed down quite gently before disembarking and heading toward the Big Riddle Inn. She arrived at the girls room rather quickly, entering to notice that no one was there. The softness of the bed and pillow were a welcome feeling as she laid there, face down, trying to sleep. She was spent and exhausted, just as Mike had said she would be. The red aura, if anything, had taken the most out of her. Face in her pillow, she softly cried herself to sleep.

Body aching, Poliwhirl rolled over onto his stomach and pushed himself up with his hands. Damn that Pupitar! That stupid shell head, he didn't hold anything back at all! Yeah this was training sure, it was going to hurt but come on this was ridiculousness! As Poliwhirl turned about to face Pupitar again he was forced to hit the dirt as Pupitar was flying towards him with a second Brick Break, practically shaving the skin on Poliwhirls back as he missed by millimeters. That b*****d was enjoying this! "On your feet Poliwhirl. In the battle field your opponent will give no pause in their attack. Pupitar, continue." Poliwhirl looked up at Pupitar, who was adjusting himself after that last attack, and quickly got back up. If Pupitar was going to enjoy this, Poliwhirl was just going to have to enjoy it more. He stared down Pupitar with a look of great anger and preparation, he was going to hurt Pupitar good...heh heh heh. Pupitar on the other hand had a blank look as he stared down Poliwhirl, not at all interested in his ideal of battle or the angry thoughts running through the Tadpole Pokemon's mind. Pupitar was here to do one thing, and that was to follow orders. To him Poliwhirl was just an unstable nuisance, not at all a reliable tool in Crenu's quest for power. But his trainer's judgment was not for him to question, so he went on with the training. With any luck this sorry excuse for a pokemon might actually gain some structure from a beating. Pupitar launched himself at Poliwhirl who waited there, feet planted and arms outstretched. This time Poliwhirl was able to take hold of Pupitar, but the force was too strong and Pupitar powered through Poliwhirl's grasp. Once again Poliwhirl took the full brunt of the attack and was knocked flat on his back. Damn it damn it DAMN IT! Crenu just looked the two and remained unmoving. "Get up Poliwhirl. Again."

Again? Poliwhirl was down, he had almost nothing left. He managed to look to his side long enough to spot Pupitar preparing another attack, damn him! He was the great Poliwhirl, no most powerful being ever! How could he be falling so easily! No, there was no way! He should be able to crush this opponent and all opponents with ease! First that stupid flower pokemon made him fall in love with her and destroy himself, and now Pupitar was breaking through him over and over! NO! HE WAS NOT GOING TO GO BACK INTO STORAGE! Poliwhirl was coughing like mad now, the way his species was build they were mostly gut in the front, it was like being hit really hard int he stomach over and over again. Damn this hurt. As Pupitar was about to launch himself again Crenu put his hand up, signaling for the him to stop. "Had enough fun yet? Stop fighting with your muscles and start fighting with your brain Poliwhirl. Keep at it like this and the only thing you'll be hurting is yourself, and unless you get a joy out of that as well then I'm afraid you're going to be a very sad tadpole. I told you to take the attack and counter with a Body Slam, but unless it's an unbelievably weak opponent and attack you're not going to simply overpower it. Now think about this. You've shown me you can catch Pupitar, but you're sure as hell not gonna hold him. Put all your weight on one leg, and go with it. Understand? If not then there's no hope your you at all. Not get up. Pupitar you may continued when he is set." Pupitar looked at Crenu, then back at Poliwhirl as he waited for the slimy ball to pick himself up. Poliwhirl was still busy trying to get up, finally getting to his feet and staring down his opponent.

What did he mean? Go with it, weight on one leg? Poliwhirl's vision was getting a little blurry, he couldn't think straight anymore. But he didn't care, Pupitar was going down! With Poliwhirl up and active again Pupitar wasted no time. he shot forward at Poliwhirl like a bullet, ready to end the insolent stare in the blue pokemon's eyes for good. Of course he knew what Crenu had meant, he wasn't an idiot like Poliwhirl was. There was no way this slimy runt could figure it out. Poliwhirl wobbled for a bit, but thought hard as he watched Pupitar coming towards him, time slowing down in his mind as he thought....maybe... that was it maybe? No time to think about it, just to act. Poliwhirl planted his right foot in the ground and placed the other behind him, hands ready to take hold of the opponent. When Pupitar made contact Poliwhirl nearly lost it, the wind knocked out of him once more. But he held strong, pivoting on his right foot and swinging to the left with Pupitar in his grasp, using Pupitar's momentum to carry them around as he pivoted, spinning around letting the attack roll off of him. Spinning around wildly Poliwhirl's consciousness was slipping, but he held on long enough to plant his left foot and stop their momentum, slamming Pupitar into the ground with tremendous force. That was all Poliwhirl could handle, having gained one victory over Pupitar he chuckled weakly as he fell down, no longer able to battle. Pupitar, however, got up relatively unscathed. A normal type attack like that was easily shaken off. Hardly a victory, but the dimwitted water type finally understood. He'd underestimated him, a little. Crenu recalled both of his pokemon, satisfied with the days training. How much time had passed since the morning? It was hard to tell, but for now that would be enough. With that Crenu headed back towards the center, Poliwhirl needed to be healed before the contest. With that out of the way his thoughts couldn't help but stray to the raven haired girl whom he'd grown so fond of, wondering how her training had come along.
