Tobias returned Mystique's stare without blinking, then snarled and leaned back against the cave wall. A very faint heat shimmer appeared around him as his power reacted to his frustration.
Aarin decided to keep himself occupied, so he did a forward flip into a handstand and began walking in circles while so inverted. A sudden thought hit him. "Hey, Igneous, can you close off our exit, too, except for a little air hole or something? If we wanna talk with the chick, we don't want her just sneakin' out."
((Oh, believe me, you have yet to see Tobias really go snap.))

((I figured as much. But, 23 still thinks it's funny that he's so downright impatient.))
Things were still interesting down below. A girl who'd been keeping to the back of the group, had just come forward, and materialized a wolf out of thin air. At least it was shaped like a wolf, its coloring was odd, but it smelled right.
And speaking of smell, one of their number smelled familiar. X-23 looked closer at him, and saw what looked like the nacho boy, Aarin, from earlier. As soon as he stood on his hands and began walking around, she knew she was right.
'Brilliant. First a wolf, whose senses are as good as mine, and now nacho boy who can shatter eardrums by warping,' she thought venomously. 'Things just keep getting better and better.'
Then as if to underscore her last thought, Aarin piped up and suggested that one of the others seal the cave. 'Well, so much for fun. I guess I'll see what they want,' she thought.
She turned over onto her back so that the sound would ricochet better, and shouted. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?" she yelled. But it sounded more like, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!? DO YOU WANT?! You want? want? want. want..." Oh, yes. There was a very good echo. Just as she'd thought.

"I'm here with a proposition that I know you'll find enticing," Mystique replied, realizing what the girl's current tactic was. Smart girl. That would certainly confuse most people, she thought to herself, a slight smirk crossing her lips. However, one did not exist for a hundred years and not pick up a few tricks. This was one that Mystique herself had used several times, and she wasn't fooled by it. Despite this, she continued to play along with the ruse.
"I require your assistance for a certain task. I would certainly not ask this of you without providing proper compensation. To this end, I will offer you protection from those who would seek to harm you," she continued. She knew all about SHIELD, and how they would do whatever it took to locate this girl. It was Mystique's business to know such things; Information was a valuable tool, and a potent weapon. However, it did not allow her to be in three places at once, which was why she was seeking the girl's assistance, and later the support of another.

X-23 was silent for a second as she pondered. The protection wasn't very likely considering exactly who was after her, but it was a nice gesture, and showed that they did their homework. She liked that, but didn't miss for a second that the task remained unspecified.
"WHAT TASK?" she asked the ceiling. "Task? Task. task..." it replied.

Lizz was trying to pin point where X-23 was. The echo made it a bit tough but she thought that she had it narrowed down slightly to a general location....very general. She crept along squinting through the darkness trying to find the woman. Come out come out wherever you are.... She thought to herself as she peered around.

"No," said Victoria, easily catching Conner's comment concerning laughing gas but decided it best to ignore it for the time being. The female was sure the male would elaborate on what he meant by 'one step further' if and when the time was right.
"I think we're good as far food stuffs goes. Maybe pick up a case or two of soda and some bottled water on the way out though," she added, nodding her head once and turning herself in the direction of the self-checkouts. "Cause there's no way I'm drinkin' the tap water...."

"Okay." Conner said and headed straight for the drinks, perusing the alcoholic beverage shelves on the way there, deciding not to risk the use of his fake ID he passed them and grabbed some Coke and lemonade(refusing to call any drink 'soda', unless it began with 'cream' or ended in 'water') and also picked up some still mineral water. "Thinking about it I better grab some energy bars or something, I figure tonight i'll stake out the 'marks' house and I don't relish the thought of going hungry while doing it." He said out loud, again, more to himself than Victoria. He grabbed a six pack of small water bottles off the self. "Or thirsty." He added. "I reckon we should lock these up in the convertible before checking for 'venging resources, or better yet." He said and fished into his trouser pocket and pulled out the purloined keys "You stash them in the car and you get to drive back when we're done." He said holding out the keys.

Following Conner over to the drinks department, Victoria watched idly as he picked out a select few and added them to their ever growing collection of rations. Clutching her full shopping basket with both hands, she shifted her feet slightly as she gave her nod of approval, meaning to say that picking up some energy bars was not a bad idea in the slightest. Items like that always came in handy, especially when one was planning a stake-out for revenge purposes.
Seeing that he seemed done and that they were finally ready to check-out, Victoria turned away but stopped dead in her tracks once the words 'you get to drive' graced her ears.
"Sounds more then fair to me," said Victoria, unable to keep a small smirk from passing over her face as she gratefully took the keys that Conner just offered her.

Conner caught Victoria's slight grin and wondered wether giving her the keys was a good idea. Not much choice, she'll have to drive it back once we've stopped at the Brotherhood place anyway he told himself. He walked down to the nearest, and only, manned checkout and quickly placed his things onto the conveyor belt. Spotting a stack of apple crates in the corner he walked over, picked a couple up and walked bac, placing them at the end of the checkout. He started to place thier goods into the crates. "On second thought, I'd better help you get these into the car." He said to Victoria. "They're going to be very cumbersome to carry."

"Ah, you don't miss a beat, do you?" Mystique cooed, a smile tugging at her features. "The task I require will be simple for one of your skill. I require your assistance in freeing a certain someone from captivity. I would do this myself, but as I said, I cannot be in three places at once. This "someone" is guarded day and night, for she can be very dangerous at times. However, after several weeks of careful reconnaissance, I have discovered a fatal weakness," Mystique explained.
"Unfortunately, it requires that I have two accomplices, as there are three key tasks that must be completed in synchronization, with a margin of error of barely a minute. This is why I require your assistance," she continued.
"So, do we have a deal?"

Little did Mystique and the rest know, this was probably the only type of 'task' X-23 would even consider. Seeing as she'd recently escaped her own prison, helping a fellow captive was something she wouldn't mind doing. But then again one must always wonder why someone was a captive. Was it for the greater good, or cruel and unusual punishment as hers had been? She shrugged mentally and decided it wasn't her problem.
She was about to shout her reply, when she decided to play with her new found DLFs a little longer. Peering around her boulders and making sure no one was looking, she quietly unsheathed her claws and climbed to the ceiling. Then, taking every great precaution to stick to the shadows and corners, she worked her way to the entrance. Once there, and well behind everyone, she first released her feet from their holds, and then thumped to the floor in a crouch as she released her hands. She stood and answered Mystique. "I'll come. On a couple of extra conditions. Secure lodging, food, and no questions. I highly doubt that you can keep me completely protected, so these make up for it somewhat."
With that she turned on her heel and walked out of the cave. The others would either follow, or they wouldn't, she didn't really care. If they followed, she'd go with them, if they didn't, she'd go find somewhere else to sleep.

Having pocketed the keys before Conner could change his mind, Victoria tipped their shopping baskets onto the conveyer belt and 'et the cashier do what he did best. As luck would have it, the cashier, though incredibly good-looking, proved to be a dunce as far as his job was concerned, which meant it took him nearly two minutes to correctly scan the first few items. Shuffling her feet restlessly, she groan heavily and silently wished they had used a self-check out instead. The female went to turn to Conner (because complaining to him would obviously help the situation), and was mildly surprised to see him carrying two or three apple crates. Her 'What for?' question was answered as he started stacking the scanned items into the crate. "Good idea," she said plainly, helping him by stuffing a few more cans into the first crate before stopped and waiting for the idiot cashier to get a price check on the Nesquik.

Lizz shrugged her shoulders and turned to head back out when X-23 dropped back down by the entrance. She passed Macrus and snagged his shirt to pull him along with her. It would seem that they had a new member. She wondered just how long X-23 would be with them. She didn't see her sticking around very long herself. She stepped back out of the cave and waited for where they had to go next.

Conner stopped packing the crates as the stream of goods had dried up, Glancing up he saw the cashier, admitedly for the first time, asking for a price, one glance at Victoria told him she was annoyed at this. He leaned against the rim od the checkout and waited patiently for the flow to start again.

Jillann continued to have to wolf slowly makes its way in to the cave in a non treating way. After the girl decided it was safe to come out after they struck a deal Jillann dismissed the wolf seeing as she no longer needed it. 'This girls a little weird she jumped off the ceiling...ah what am i saying i've seen weird....i'm weird' Jillann thought absentmindedly.
