Sam had expected the Mantis Pokemon to dodge the slow Ice Beam, so she wasn't particularly worried. She was worried, though, about how fast the Scyther was, especially with Agility on it's side. 'Time for another clever strategy...Anytime now...' Nothing came to mind however, and Sam grew frustrated. 'Just when I need it, my mind stops working...'. Seeing no other option, Sam called out to Star.
"Star, Ice Beam again! Make it wider and more powerful!" Star rolled her eyes, but gathered up the energy again in her mouth. Sam could see already that the blue ball of light was bigger and brighter then before. Star smiled, widening the beam but making it thinner, as she fired it at the Scyther. The Ice Beam left ice crystals in its wake as it neared her opponent. Sam was impressed by the flexibility of the move. The previous Ice Beam had been standard, and looked alot like a laser beam, but this one looked almost like a shock wave, though it was only going in one direction.

Kasiya's attitude was nearly the complete opposite of Keegan's, as her initial excitement had been replaced by fear and doubt. She remembered her father telling her that there were wild Pokemon running amok in this place now, and though she wanted to avoid as many of them as possible, she was more worried about running into a ghost. She also felt a little better once Keegan let her go, and for a moment she considered releasing Hiro as a means for protection but quickly dismissed the thought, though her hand never strayed too far away from the Pokeballs set on her belt. It really wasn't quite what she'd imagined on the inside, and she too gazed up through the holey ceiling, wondering why they'd allowed this place to remain standing. Probably because it's a great habitat for wild Pokemon, she thought, catching sight of a few Rattata scurrying across the floor before vanishing into one of the many holes in the wall. "Rattata," she mumbled, looking over at the redhead. "I wonder what other Pokemon live in this place." She ventured forward a bit, away from Keegan, grimacing warily as the floorboards creaked under her feet. She could see now that there were also many places that looked as though they'd been burned, and she wondered idly if there were any Fire-types in here.
Kasiya quickly discovered the staircase and she advanced towards it, more intent on checking out the integrity of the stairs rather than actually going up - after all, she had seen the condition of the ceiling above their heads. A sudden growling caught her attention then, and Kasiya whirled around to see a rather large Raticate advancing towards her. Its fangs were bared and it looked quite angry, as though the two humans had invaded its territory. Kasiya watched the large rat carefully, unable to think of a time where she'd actually battled one. She'd taken on a few Rattata before, once when Nova was still a baby Charmander, and one in the Lavaridge gym that knew how to use Flame Wheel (she still couldn't get over that one), but she couldn't recall battling the fully-grown Raticate. This one looked pretty tough, though an almost dark smirk appeared on the girl's face as she reached for a Pokeball. "All right, Seto, time to play," she said as the Persian materialized on the floor in front of her. The feline growled, ears flat against his head, and his tail stood out straight behind him. It had been a while since he'd seen battle, and he was eager to show that overgrown rat that it had been a bad idea messing with his trainer.
=-=-=-=-= Jake continued to frown, even though Robin was right, and he could in fact see the light on the other side. He figured it would be best to just go through it, as fast as they could, and get it over with, though he took a step back when a loud roar blasted their eardrums. "What?" he asked, looking on with wide eyes as Black*Star had suddenly come whizzing by their heads. Jake looked on in a mixture of confusion as Robin chased after him, intent on not letting the little blue gator hit the ground. Jake followed after her, worried for the Totodile, but also worried for whatever it had been that sent the little guy flying in the first place.
He too had seen the large creature fly by them, and without a second thought he raced over to Robin's side, Turtwig on his heels. "What is that?" he demanded, eying it closely. It was definitely the biggest Pokemon he'd ever seen (that he could remember, of course), and though initially he'd been worried it would attack them, it soon became apparent that it knew Robin. "Wait, you know this thing?" he asked, holding out a hand to help Robin up off the ground.

Picking herself up off of the ground Robin walked past Black*Star and stared up at Raz with wide eyes. "Oh wow Raz you sure got bigger! More scary to!" She laughed a little at that before glancing back at Jaeshan and giving him a smile. "Raz isn't a thing." The new Yanmega buzzed indignantly at being called a thing. "He is my Yanma, or well, he used to be, he evolved into a... Huh I dunno what you are now actually. I am sure that Tony mentioned something about you evolving though. Ah let me see." Pulling out her own pokedex Robin turned it on and scanned Raz in. Just as the page loaded up another loud roar erupted from the mouth of the cave. It seemed that the Machamp wasn't jet going to forgive Black*Star and was charging at them now. "Uh-oh..." Robin muttered watching the thing charge.
Raz who had been flying to deliver Robin a message from Tony stared at the large creature who had attacked his teammate through his red lenses. He had been a Yanma just a few moments ago, only the desperation to save his friend had caused him to evolve and catch the now tiny to him Totodile. So this is what sent his friend flying and was now attacking his trainer? He couldn't put up with that! The Yanmega seemed to disappear from his spot and appeared in front of the two humans and their pokemon.
"Your gunna protect us Raz?" Robin asked with a grin. "All right then! Let's show that Machamp your Sonic Boom!" Looking down at her pokedex she saw that her Yanma's newly evolved name was Yanmega. It certainly was impressive both in picture and in real life!
Gathering up his speed Raz's wings buzzed louder as it drew itself back before releasing all that energy and becoming a green blur as it speed towards the Machamp. The fighting type pokemon tried to reach out and grab its opponent as it speed by but it only managed to catch air and then get blasted back by a powerful Sonic Boom. The new Yanmega stopped itself on a dime and flipped back so it could keep an eye on the Machamp.
Seeing her pokemon's powerful attack Robin let out a low whistle. "Wow Raz you sure are a lot more powerful now." Now that Robin thought about it Raz had been with her for so long and he was the last of her first three pokemon to evolve. Well even if it had taken a long time it seemed all the more impressive. "Right, were in a battle, Raz fighting types are weak to psychics right? Well let's blast it away with your psychic attack!"
The Yanmega nodded and concentrating on the power that the TM had awakened in him the Yanmega wondered why he had thought that this was ever hard. With an ease he had never had before Raz blasted the Machamp with a powerful Psychic attack. The poor Machamp let out a cry as it clutched it's head in pain. It was then that it decided that maybe this was more trouble then it was worth. Giving one last look at the group of humans and pokemon the Machamp headed back towards the mountain side.
"Yay! You were so strong Raz! Robin called out as she ran over to her pokemon. Ignoring the spikes on him the best she could the girl pulled the now much larger then her Raz into a hug. "Ha! With you this strong now there is nothing we can't do!"

Nina had not been paying particular attention to what had been going on around her, as she had since isolated herself from the others. She was sitting on the ground while Anna and Sabrina were several feet away from her, talking to one another. Nina looked over to them, before down to the ground, while she was quietly dealing with an invasion of thoughts. "I thought this was over with..."
They don't care about you, you know. None of them do.
"That's a lie."
No, it's not. Think about it, Nina: None of them have even attempted contact you in how long of a period of time, and then, completely out of the blue, Mike contacts you.
"Yes, Mike contacted me because--"
Because he needed you. That's why he contacted you. You know that. Never did he nor anyone else try to see if you were even still alive before recently.
"Well, I wasn't exactly around, so they really couldn't--
Couldn't what? Couldn't call you on the damned Pokegear? Couldn't dial one phone number in an attempt to reach you? Stop trying to defend them.
"No. They care about me, I know that they do."
The fact that you can sit there and say that is disgusting. You are alone. You always have been. Just because you associate yourself with people who choose to exploit you for your strengths will not remove the truth surrounding everything.
"...Shut up. Please."
Why? You know that I'm right...

Keegan paid no attention to the Rattata that Kasiya had pointed out, as he was sure he'd be seeing a lot of them in the next little while. He vaguely remembered someone mentioning to him that if you saw one Rattata, there were bound to be at least 40 more in the immediate area. He continued forward, also taking not of the burned sections and realizing that there was a good chance that the building had been set on fire at least once. Some of the burned areas seemed fresher than the others, and he stepped on the blackened leg of what he assumed used to be a chair, and it was easily crushed beneath his weight. "I wonder what happened to this place," he murmured, looking over at Kasiya as a flash of light caught his eye. A rather brave Raticate had decided to challenger her, and the blonde had quickly responded by sending out her Persian. He hadn't seen the feline Pokemon in a while, and though he kind of wanted to watch Seto play cat and mouse with the Raticate, he figured he should give them their space.
He glanced over his shoulder once as he exited the main foyer of the mansion, finding himself off in a little side hall that seemed to lead to some sort of sitting room. There was a dusty old bookshelf in the corner, most of its shelves snapped or missing. A few musty old books were strewn about on the floor, though when Keegan knelt down and tried to pick one of them up, it crumbled to dust in his hands, having been there for quite some time. The redhead frowned and remained in that position, for a few moments, looking around as though he were a detective in a crime scene, practically expecting something to jump out at him.
And something did jump out at him, only it wasn't anything that Keegan had expected. A Rattata, much larger than the norm for its species, had jumped out from its hiding place under an overturned crate, and was hissing and snarling at the redhead. Keegan frowned at the little critter and stood up. It may have been bigger than normal, but a Rattata was still a Rattata, though Keegan had to give the little thing credit for its nerve. "Themis, get out here," he grumbled, releasing the Manectric in a flash of light. The Electric-type didn't seem all that pleased to have been woken up, though at first he didn't even seem to realize that he'd been put inside his PokeBall in the first place. ===== Bugsy quirked an eyebrow at the thinner-spread Ice Beam, unsure of its power. Usually, covering a wider area resulted in greatly improved accuracy, but at the cost of power. "Counter with Pursuit," he said. The Scyther nodded, bringing its scythes up in an x-shape across its chest to protect from the oncoming Ice Beam, gritting its teeth as the cold bit into it. As soon as the Ice Beam had ended, the Mantis Pokemon shot forward in a flash of green, raising its scythe - which had taken on an ominous, dark glow - high in preparation to strike the Marshtomp. ===== Miharu had inched closer to the edge of her seat, very much aware of the fact that the battle wouldn't last much longer. She figured that a few solid hits from Star's Ice Beam would do it, though actually hitting the Scyther would be another story altogether. Miharu still wasn't worried though, as she was confident that Sam and Star would come out of this victorious. I wonder what we'll do after this, she thought idly, still holding her badge case in her hands. Sam had wanted to challenge the Violet City gym as well, though Miharu didn't really want to go back there just yet. Her memories of her shaky win over Falkner were still enough to bring on nearly full-blown panic attacks, and she wasn't sure she could handle even looking at the gym, let alone going inside and seeing Falkner again. He'd been kind despite his loss, though he had pointed out her glaring mistakes and told her how she'd needed to improve, and to this day she knew that if luck hadn't been on her side, she never would have won her Zephyr Badge. She looked down at the first badge in the row, and sighed. No, she wasn't ready to go back to Violet City. Not yet.
((Wow, lamest Bugsy and Miharu posts ever.))

Sam was glad to see that the Ice Beam hit, but she noticed that the Scyther hardly seemed fazed. Sam was sure that it had to hurt it, after all it was a pretty strong move, but she wasn't sure how powerful it was after being spread thin. Sam was startled by the Scyther's speed, but recovered quickly. "Star, watch it...watch it...ICE BEAM NOW." Star, having sensed what Sam wanted, braced for impact and fired off a concentrated Ice Beam before the Scyther brought its scythe down and struck her chest area. She staggered back a bit, the area burning with pain, but she shrugged it off. 'Hardly a scratch...' she told herself, though it did hurt more then that. Sam clenched her fist in hope that the Scyther took the Ice Beam hard.

Wait. Was he talking? Was he saying these words that were coming out of Mitsu's mouth and he was just hallucinating that it was her? Mike wouldn't have been surprised. His mind has done some really insane s**t to try to cope with the guilt he harbored, but this was just...strange. Funny? ...yeah. A little. Mike chuckled internally, his shoulders bouncing slightly as he silently expressed his amusement. Thankfully, Mitsu was too busy convulsing to notice.
"Of course you can trust me." he said with conviction. Truth be told she really shouldn't trust him. After all, he was probably the least stable person she knew, and just a moment ago he tried to literally scare her into talking. And while he would never intentionally leak any sensitive information, there was a specific mental tenant who would absolutely love to. Oh well, Mike thought as he went back to being caring and considerate to his writing friend.
"Mitsu, what do you mean? Kill who?" he asked, still aghast at how familiar this whole conversation was. It was all the same. Subject matter, the stammering on the I's, the awkward spacing. Was he actually Mitsu all this time and he only tricked himself into thinking he was himself? Had he been a girl this whole time and just been dreaming? Would that mean he was a lesbian because he loved Flannery? Wait, but if he was thinking he was a boy and loving a girl then it would be okay. Yeah, totally okay. Anything else would just be stupid. Mike snapped back with an odd smile on his face, like he had just proven some smug. know-it-all jackass wrong for the first time. Oh right. Mitsu was dealing with all of her emotions and memories bubbling to the surface of her mind. Time for the sad face! Thank goodness she was distracted. He actually let his guard down that time. "Tell me. It's okay, you can tell me anything. You always have and you always can. I promise if you tell me it will feel much better." His features morphed almost instantly back to how he was when he was calming her just a few moments ago. It was like changing masks. There was no in between, just the extremes.
------
What did she get herself into? Sasha thought with a sigh, examining herself in the mirror. Sure, the volcano probably sweat some pounds off of her, but it completely mangled her hair. Crops grow in volcanic soil, not sexy young girls. "Merde." the girl groaned as she ran her fingers through her hair, or at least tried to before they were snagged like fish in a net. "I look like a Tangela!" she whined, drooping her head. But forget her hair! (gasp!) There was even more important stuff going on. Like how her friend was completely insane! It wasn't just a one time freak-out at the party, Mike was full-blown crazy! The way he walked, the way he talked with that giddy little tone, like everything was a big joke, it was terrifying! He talked about storming a well fortified cult base and destroying everything inside it. Sure, some people say that, but the scary thing was that he meant it! And he is planning on doing it tomorrow! And she said she'd help!
"What was I s'hinking!?" the girl cried out, tugging at her hair at both ends. Pink filled the mirror as the girl flung her head around in both confusion and anger. "But I cannot go back on my word!" She knew without a doubt that Mike would do the same for her in a heartbeat, without even needing to be asked. She knew because he did. Him and Kilik, they both ran through the Team Aqua base and saved her life. She owed them, but it was more than that. Mike needed help getting his life back on track. To him, there was more at stake than his life. After talking to him back at the Gym, she realized how little his own life meant to him. It was all about the girl he loved. It was all about Flannery. Sasha paused her thoughts for a moment and remembered the Gym Leader's reaction to Mike's declaration. She kicked dirt in his face and walked away. As much as it tore her apart to watch the boy's entire life collapse in on itself, she couldn't convince herself that she wouldn't have done the same thing. I mean, realizing the boy you loved was actually an obsessive stalker who tried to control your life must have been a total shock for her. Especially with how disarming and friendly Mike was. She had no idea he had the capacity for anything so...evil. But, he did everything for her. He was dedicated to her and her alone. Sasha felt conflicted. On one hand, she admired his conviction to the girl he loved, but at the same time she couldn't help but think he went about it all wrong.
Sasha let out an irritated groan. "I cannot back down now. Même s'il me fait peur. I have to help Mike. He deserves a second chance. Everyon-most people deserve second chances." She walked over to the shower and turned on the water then went back to mindlessly staring at herself in the mirror before the steam washed over like a thick fog. When she couldn't see herself anymore, she dragged her hand across the mirror, clearing a small block with a loud squeak. "What would papa s'hink if he were to find z'his out?" her eyes widened for a moment, and a smile played on her lips like she just heard a tantalizing secret. "Probably yell and scream." But then all Sasha would have to do would bat her pretty little eyelashes and tell him she loved him and the problem would solve itself. Sometimes, it was tough to be so good. Sasha, feeling a bit better, slid off the rest of her clothing and hopped in the shower, hoping a good steam would help wash away her confusion.
She secretly hoped Kasiya would 'accidentally' walk in the bathroom and 'accidentally' find herself locked in. Sasha smiled at the thought. "I'm so bad." she said with a giggle.

Poliwhirl continued to smash apart the ice wall with consecutive Brick Breaks, smashing the wall apart until nothing but chunks and shards covered the earth, almost as it had hailed briefly. When he was finally done, Poliwhirl fell to his hands and knees panting as he tried to recover. Shiro however was not willing to let him rest so easily. "Get up Poliwhirl. We aren't done here. Ice walls are only one trick in your potential arsenal. We've still got work to do.” Poliwhirl looked at Shiro, normally he wouldn’t want to go along with this kind of work ethic but there were two things that kept him from disobeying. Threat of not getting out of a pokeball was incentive enough, but at the same time Poliwhirl wanted to perfect his moves like Crenu wanted so that he could get stronger. Get his moves more powerful, more effective, and learn how to make use them in various ways like the ice wall. More ways to use an attack meant more ways to put the hurt on everyone else. And to look good doing it just made things so much better. Still, that didn't make this any easier. Poliwhirl struggled to get up to his feet, wobbling slightly. After a few deep breaths he was feeling better, though his fists stung like crazy. Still, Poliwhirl was feeling good about this, it was really a good warm up and he could take much more. After all, Poliwhirl was the greatest pokemon out there, there was no wussing out like that baby Snorunt, or whatever the hell she turned into. Or that big bird or that fuzz ball. Even the freakin spider was useless. And that damn Pupitar, going aroudn being all quiet and superior acting. Bah, Poliwhirl would show them all.
"Pupitar, get out here." Crenu said suddenly, throwing Pupitar's pokeball out in front of him. The hard shell pokemon took form not a few feet away from Poliwhirl, who was looking at him with intense scorn. Speak of the devil. Pupitar, however, paid Poliwhirl no mind at all and simply kept his eyes on Crenu. "Pupitar, welcome. I've kept you back for a while, because the other pokemon need more attention than you do. But don't get me wrong, you're not safe from elimination as it were. You're opportunity to prove yourself will come soon enough. For now however you need to help Poliwhirl with his own training. Pupitar will use Brock Break on you Poliwhirl, and you will counter with Body Slam. You're going to have to strengthen your core and tollerance, your balance and form must be perfect. You will be hit hard and you will take the hit with grace, then you will send the foe flying. Toughening your body in general is a good idea, but you've got to be able to take it well enough that it looks graceful and put some flash in your slams. Now, begin." There was nothing else to it, and Pupitar wasted no time in executing the attack. Poliwhirl was no longer interested in the training so much as he was in hurting Pupitar, if he could knock this guy down a few pegs it would be so great! Pupitar was already facing Poliwhirl, launching himself forward by expelling air through his shell and flying at the tadpole pokemon with the horns on his head glowing as they prepared to crush anything they hit. Poliwhirl however, was ready for him. Feet planted and arms open, Poliwhirl put his chest out and braced himself ready to catch Pupitar and spike him into the ground! Poliwhirl wasn't afraid, this was nothing! Or so he thought as Pupitar closed in, head plowing right into Poliwhirl's gut. Poliwhirl pushed hard and tried to fight it, but it was no use. The wind was knocked right out of him and Poliwhirl went down, leaving Pupitar completely unharmed as he sailed on by and landed several feet behind Poliwhirl. "No good. Try again."

Kasiya felt a familiar rush of adrenaline course through her and she smiled, momentarily forgetting all her fears, stress, and troubles in general. Battles always worked that kind of magic for her, as her mind would completely refocus itself so that her Pokemon were her current priority. She made a mental note to try and focus on her Pokemon more often, as she was certain she was going to need all of them tomorrow so they needed her to be at the top of her game as well. The Raticate had let out a sharp hiss when the Persian appeared before it, and though Kasiya had almost been expecting it to, it didn't flee. Instead, it made the first move, sprinting towards Seto, teeth bared and ready to strike. As it neared its target, its teeth began to glow, and Kasiya recognized it as Raticate's signature move, Hyper Fang. She hadn't noticed that Keegan had gone off on his own as she nodded to her Pokemon. "I'm sure you know what to do," she said, smiling lightly.
The Persian's ears twitched in reply, a low, feral growl rumbling in his throat. He didn't move from that spot, though his claws extended, and he bared his own fangs as the Raticate neared him. He jumped forward, quick as lightning, waiting until the last possible second to strike as he swiped his paw across the Raticate's face, stopping it cold. The Mouse Pokemon was knocked back a few feet, its beady little eyes wide with surprise, as it wasn't sure what had just happened. "Nice Fake Out," Kasiya said, smiling. Seto replied with a content purr, his eyes narrowed into slits as he started pacing around the Raticate like a predator encircling its prey. Kasiya smiled, having always enjoyed battling with Seto at her side. The Persian was calm and collected, and he was usually very clever in battle, save for the few times when his wild side took over. The Persian's tail swished back and forth in a slow, almost daunting manner, and after having recovered from being smacked around last time, the Raticate was lunging forward again, this time coming in for a Bite attack.
Seto jumped back but the rodent stayed with him, managing to sink its large teeth into The Persian's right foreleg. "Fight back with a Slash attack," Kasiya said, keeping her gaze set on the Raticate. The rat attempted to jump back out of reach of Seto's terrible claws but didn't put quite enough distance between them, and it cried out as the larger feline's claws left deep gouges in its shoulder. "Great, keep at it," Kasiya said, only now noticing that Keegan was nowhere in sight. I wonder where he went off to, she thought idly before turning back to her own battle.
=-=-=-=-= Jake had considered taking his own PokeDex out to scan the 'thing' in front of him, hardly noticing that neither Robin nor Raz hadn't liked his previous comment, as before either of them could even blink a large, grey and four-armed Pokemon had come bursting out of the tunnel, roaring savagely. Without a moment's hesitation Jake took a step forward and absentmindedly reached for the second Pokeball set in his belt, only to realize a second later what he was doing. He wasn't wearing a belt, nor were there any Pokeballs at his waist, and he stepped back, head bounding like a bass drum as the newly-evolved Yanmega sped past them to confront the four-armed creature. Jake grit his teeth and continued to stumble back, wanting to put as much distance between him and the grey Pokemon, a Machamp according to a small voice at the back of his mind. Raz took care of it quite easily, but that didn't make the blonde boy feel any better.
Turtwig had strayed no more than a foot from his trainer's side, his amber eyes wide with worry, though he couldn't help but feel impressed (and marginally jealous, too) of the Yanmega's strength and skill. He was nowhere near that strong, and he knew that he wouldn't have stood a chance against that big scary Pokemon. The Tiny Leaf Pokemon nudged Jake's leg until the human picked him up, both sharing expressions of doubt and disappointment. "Wow," Jake said, trying to slap on a smile for Robin's sake. "That was awesome, nice going, uh, Raz."

It probably would have been a lot faster if Dante had just gone through the city again but eventually he made it to entrance to route 203. According to the map it was a very short trip over to Oreburg, he wasn't going to stop their long, maybe he wouldn't stop there at all. The mining city, or at least thats what the map said it was, didn't really have anything there that interested him, other then the gym. Not feeling up to a gym challenge though and with a mission in his head he would probably skip right through it and head onto Hearthome.
Now a lot of people will tell you that the journey to the destination is what makes a trip. Dante wasn't really all that interested in the journey, he was more interested in the destination and the results. If he was paying attention at all to the younger and weaker trainers Dante would have noticed that a few of them staredin amazement at the silver Rapidash and a few of them had looks of resentment on their faces. Well, he wouldn't have cared either way. Dante didn't really care what people thought of him as long as they left him alone. Besides if they really wanted a pokemon as strong as Apollo then they had to work hard on their own pokemon.
Now if Dante had even noticed the little skirmish between what appeared to be that annoying Robin's Yanmega and that Machamp he either didn't care or didn't notice. Either way Dante had a deep dislike for the girl and would have walked on either way. He didn't know who the blond boy he passed by was either, he seemed a little familiar but other then that he didn't really know him or care to much to know him. Heading into the tiny cave Dante, Apollo, who lit it up much better, and the egg, made there way, once again ignoring everyone inside of it, towards Oreburg. For once Dante was able to walk down a route without being challenged to a pokemon battle. He had a feeling though that for the rest of the trip he wouldn't be nearly as lucky.
~~~~~~~
Robin's special pokemon ability Oblivious, seemed to kick in as always and she didn't seem to notice Jaeshan's discomfort. Raz did though, the smart Yanmega eyed the two for a moment before decided it wasn't any of his business and intruding wouldn't be best right about now. Instead the now powerful Yanmega enjoyed his trainers hug before letting her go. "Raz did do great didn't he? Its really nice to hear that from such an experienced trainer like you. I mean I can barely remember the basics of anything! Your much tougher then I am!" Though with all of her training she was supposed to be getting from Tony Tony she hoped that one day she could be as good as Jaeshan. "Oh but Raz not that I am not happy to see you but what are you doing here? I was supposed to go with Black*Star and Ace only."
What was Raz doing here? Other then saving his trainer? Well he had a note to deliver. Said note actually kind of hurt now since he was so much bigger then when he had it tied on as a Yanma. Sticking out his leg Raz showed Robin the note and waited patiently as she untied it.
"Haha, your like one of those Noctowls from Harry Pokeball aren't you?" Robin laughed as she carefully took the note off of Raz's leg. Unfolding it she read what it said and let out a sigh of relief. Oh she was lucky! Tony had some business pop up and she didn't have to be back until three! That was plenty of time to help Jaeshan out for a while! "Lucky!" She cheered jumping up in excitement. "Ha! Looks like I can help you out for your gym battle and not get in trouble! Are you ready? Because I am going to make sure you get your badge!"
Ripples of static electricity coursed over the Manectric's body as it stared down at its tiny foe; his upper lip curled slightly so that his teeth were showing. The Rattata stared back up at Themis, unflinching despite the odds being against him. "Flamethrower," Keegan said quietly, knowing that he could hardly do any more damage to the already-ruined building. The Manectric's eyes took on a fiery glow and he rared back, shooting out a condensed stream of intense flames at the rodent. It was safe to say that after seeing the static on the enemy's body, the Rattata hadn't been expecting a fire attack. Even still, the quick little Pokemon was able to launch itself up and over the jet of flames, using the momentum of its Quick Attack to carry it forward and into Themis' forehead for a relatively solid hit, despite its small stature.
The Manectric shook his head fiercely, trying to stop the ringing he was now hearing, and he caught sight of the little rodent landing safely nearby, its ears twitching in anticipation of the next exchange of moves. Themis growled angrily and darted forward, electricity crackling from his now-gaping mouth. Keegan had to wrack his brains for a moment or so before he remembered that the move was called Thunder Fang, and the Rattata gave a frightened and pained squeak as it was subjected to the electrified bite. ===== The Mantis Pokemon's expression remained unchanged as the left side of its body had been slammed by Star's Ice Beam. Bugsy had also remained quiet and calm from his side of the battlefield. He'd spent many a sleepless night working with his Scyther, teaching it to remain steadfast and strong no matter what the circumstances. His next command was so quiet that not even the girl sitting on the sidelines could hear it, though the Pokemon heard it loud and clear. The overhead lights reflected brightly off the Mantis' dangerous scythes, and in the blink of an eye it had swept around and behind the Marshtomp by use of an impressive Quick Attack, raising both weapons high in a retaliatory strike.
Sam bit back a curse, as the Scyther struck with impossible speed. She had to think of something, her strategy was wearing thin and she was quickly losing this battle. As far as she could tell, that Scyther was still in perfect shape, even after a direct Ice Beam. What could she do? Star stumbled backwards. The Quick Attack hurt yes, but it still wasn't enough to bring her down! Sure, she was aching and sore, but that could be easily remedied. Sam knew she had to rethink her strategy and have time to regroup. Problem was, how could she have the time when the Scyther was attacking so quickly? Sam shrugged to herself. It was time for a different move.
"Star, I want you to try this. Use Surf to move away from the Scyther. If you can get any water to hit it, bonus." Star couldn't remember having ever heard of this move before, but she innately knew what to do. The fin on her head glowed as she conjured a large wave out of nothing, bodysurfing on top of it. It wasn't huge, but it got the job done, as she allowed to wave to travel across the field, depositing her on the opposite side, away from the Scyther. Sam saw that the floor was now covered in an inch or two of water, slow to soak into the ground, but she ignored it. She watched Bugsy for his next move.
In all honesty Kasiya wasn't about to doubt Seto's ability to defeat the Raticate, but she wanted him to do so while taking as little damage as possible. Nearby she could hear what sounded like another battle starting up, and she wondered what Pokemon Keegan had stumbled upon and which Pokemon he'd sent out to combat it, and she couldn't help but wish she was there to witness it. She loved watching Keegan when he was battling, as he always worked so well with his Pokemon. She focused back on her own battle, as Seto had just lunged forward, claws extended for what looked to be a possible Fury Swipes, but the Raticate would have none of that, deftly getting itself out of the way with a nicely timed Quick Attack.
Kasiya couldn't help but wish that Seto's favourite lead-off attack, Fake Out, could be used more than just at the beginning of the battle. "Try a Faint Attack," Kasiya suggested, and the Persian's tail flickered ever so slightly to indicate that he'd heard her. He jolted forward, phasing out of plain sight as though he'd disappeared into a shadow, reappearing a second later right beside the surprised Raticate. The feline yowled loudly before lashing out with his sharp claws, the unavoidable attack catching the Mouse Pokemon in the side. It shrieked painfully and whipped its body around, trying to sink its teeth into Seto once again but the speedy Persian had already trotted away, electricity crackling from his forehead jewel.
Kasiya quickly realized what Seto was up to and took a step back as a precaution, now watching with some amusement as the Persian loosed a large bolt of electricity at its smaller foe, scoring a direct hit on the Raticate and sending it scurrying as a result. Kasiya clapped and knelt down as Seto padded over to her, purring contentedly. "You sure showed him," the girl beamed, patting the feline's velvety smooth fur. Seto preened a bit before licking his paw where he'd been bitten. He knew he'd probably overdone it a bit, but that would probably keep the remaining rats in the area at bay. For now, at least.
=-=-=-=-= Robin's reply made Jake quirk and eyebrow, and even Turtwig wore an expression of confusion. "Experienced trainer? Me?" he mumbled, though he couldn't deny the fact that it might be true. After all, when that Machamp had attacked, he'd instinctively reached for a phantom Pokeball, and he was sure that whatever one his subconscious had chosen would have been more than a match for the Superpower Pokemon. Not only that, but Jake was still reeling a bit from having known what the Machamp was in the first place. His mind felt like a treasure chest of knowledge, only it was locked up tight and he didn't have the key.
Turtwig's thoughts were on a similar path, as he was sure his trainer wasn't really a rookie, despite anything he said. He'd seen a lot of new trainers bumbling around the lab after getting their first Pokemon from Professor Rowan, and Jake, despite his memory loss and confusion, was definitely not a rookie. Jake smiled and patted the Grass-type on the head. He was very grateful to Professor Rowan for giving Turtwig to him, and sending him on his way, as even though he felt lost and alone in the world, he didn't want to be babied, either. Jake looked up at Robin as she read her note from Raz, and smiled a bit. "Well, I'm not entirely ready yet, but we'll get there. Let's get out of here though, before something else happens." Turtwig nodded in affirmation, and Jake placed the Tiny Leaf Pokemon up on his head as they walked towards the entrance of the cave.
"Don't be modest! Your great! See how much your Turtwig all ready trusts you?" Robin grinned at Jaeshan before turning back to Raz. "All right buddy, it's great to see you in your new form but I gotta do this with just Ace and Black*Star. Your to strong to come with me right now." Robin was sad to be saying this to her pokemon. She didn't want to send her pokemon away, still Tony was right, her pokemon would never be challenged if they could rely on her stronger ones. "I will be back at three and we can spend all the time in the world together ok?"
Raz was a little upset to go but he did understand what Robin was trying to say. Besides he still had plenty of work to do back in Jubilife. He was sure that now that he had his new form he would be able to master the technique of controlling his doubles! If he mastered that by the time that Robin got back she would be really impressed! Nodding the new Yanmega bid the humans and their pokemon goodbye.
"All right! Let's get through that cave. Your right anything could happen if we keep standing around." Grinning she grabbed Black*Star, deciding that holding him would be best so he wouldn't wonder off in the cave anymore. The Totodile while upset for a moment was suddenly pretty happy to be pretty much resting on his trainers chest. The energetic pokemon just cast a grin at Jaeshan before deciding that he was just fine resting here. Robin didn't either notice or care to much about her pokemon's somewhat perverted nature as she followed Jaeshan and Turtwig into the cave. Lets hope the short cave would hold no more surprises for them!
No sooner had the first bold little Rattata had fled when another took its place, and Keegan frowned, taking a step back. This really wasn't what he'd had in mind when he was thinking about training against strong Pokemon, and Themis seemed to mirror his trainer's thoughts. The Manectric threw back his head and loosed a loud howl, quickly glaring back down at the Rattata to see if it had any effect. The small creature remained in place, its beady little eyes fixed squarely on the Manectric. "You have got to be kidding," Keegan muttered, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He glanced back towards the open door, wondering how Kasiya and Seto were faring - at least they got to battle the fully-evolved version of this Pokemon. The Rattata in question darted forward, its fangs shining white as it moved in for a Hyper Fang, but Themis snarled and lunged in reply, throwing his shoulder forward in an electrified tackle - Spark. The mouse's teeth sunk into the Manectric's shoulder just as the electricity flared. The mouse Pokemon fell to the ground, too stunned to move for a moment or so before it got to its feet and fled, perhaps running a little faster than it meant to as Themis was snapping at its heels only inches behind. The small purple Pokemon squeaked fearfully as it darted into the safety of the hole in the wall. Themis skidded to a stop to avoid smashing headfirst into the wall, and he dropped to his belly, inhaling a large breath before he expelled a narrow stream of flames into the hole, causing smoke to slowly waft out of some of the smaller cracks and holes in the wall.
Keegan raised an eyebrow and shook his head. "Way to overdo it, Themis," he said, squatting down to try and peer into the opening, but there was too much smoke to really see anything. He looked up again, frowning when he saw that Themis' Flamethrower had sparked a fire that had quickly spread upwards, the arid environment happily fueling it. "********," the redhead murmured, glaring at Themis who was now somewhat-shamefully watching the flames as they eagerly ate away at the dried-out rafters. He stood up and took a step back, already holding a PokeBall in his hands. "Shiva, I need your help," he mumbled, and the ever-joyful Sealeo appeared in front of him, clapping her flippers together. "No time for playing, girl, I need your help," he told her, pointing up at the flames. "Use your Water Gun to put out that fire!" His voice was a little anxious, though not because he worried about damaging the building further. It was more of the fact that if the building were to go up in smoke, he and Kassie would be trapped inside. That, and he didn't want to attract the local authorities, as should they escape the flames unscathed, the police would definitely have questions as to why two teenagers were trespassing in an area that had been labeled as condemned.
Shiva nodded, her eyes wide with confusion and she reared back, sending a strong, icy-cold torrent of water streaming from her mouth. The flames hissed loudly in protest but were soon doused completely, now adding some water damage to go along with the rest of the mansion's ruined decor. Keegan exhaled, having been holding his breath, and he sighed with relief. "Nice, great work, Shiva," he said, his right hand instinctively reaching into his pocket for his cigarettes. The Sealeo barked happily and made her way over to her trainer, glad she'd made him happy, though her nose was only about an inch or so away from his other hand when an ominous creaking could be heard from all around them. Keegan's forehead creased in a frown as he tried to figure out what was going on, realizing too late that the sound was coming from below them, as he and Shiva's combined weight had been too much for the already-weakened floorboards. He opened his mouth to shout, but by that point the ground was falling out from under them, and he and Shiva quickly disappeared from view as they plummeted down to the basement level. Themis, having already been standing out of the way, jumped back in surprise as his trainer and teammate suddenly fell through the floor, biting back a laugh. The Manectric composed himself and carefully crept closer to the hole in the floor, peering over the edge to see what had become of Keegan and Shiva. ===== Instinctively, Bugsy's Scyther had jumped back as the Surf covered the floor in water, and it lifted one leg up out of the water disdainfully, shooting a glare in Star's direction. "Nice escape," Bugsy nodded, having quickly jumped back onto his platform to avoid getting his boots wet. He'd also noticed Sam's annoyance at his Scyther's seemingly-unphased attitude, and he smiled. He was painfully aware of the fact that his Scyther had taken more damage than it had let on, but not allowing it to show had often worked in his favor.
"Focus Energy," the boy said decisively. He wanted their next attack to be a good one. The Mantis Pokemon raised both scythes high over its head, channeling its adrenaline and energy to boost its fighting spirit. It was also aware of the fact that it had taken a strong hit with that last Ice Beam, but it wouldn't show it. The Mantis smirked and returned to a defensive position, eager to see the Marshtomp's next move.
